- We begin focusing on going after enemies, and then are promptly attacked by pirates. Note: we could have done more to develop our economy but my military was dangerously small by this point so it was time to change focus. In the next video it will become apparent why it was good we prioritized our fleet.
Fun fact: the hanger upgrade that gives it and surrounding structures shields and increased shield regeneration also affects starbases! It is a fairly cheap tech in the security tree, so I always get it as soon as I have a hanger bay up. Can't wait for next episode :)
I usually get it after I am being attacked and wished I had it already.
"The enema are restless"....Well, if I was an enema I'd be restless too considering what my job is.
Awesome videos, they're very entertaining/informative! Also, your dry humor is simply amazing.
+Zach Banach Thanks =)
"I have decided I hate blue"
Totally understandable.
Thanks for these videos so far Dave, they're very helpful and informative.
Great stuff, am eating up all the knowledge your sharing here. Not playing myself at this time, but this will allow me to understand the game better, when others do.
Also not only does fighters make it have a better (Existant) long range combat ability it also makes it have some anti-strike craft instead of being compleatly defencless against fighters.
One of the main reasons I didn't like this game is it felt like you were playing against the pirates more than the other players.
You can disable pirates.
In a sense you were. But the pirates would eventually collapse as the players fought them
I got this game on steam for free, I really like all the spaceships and laser pew pew pew.
oh what! I paid 11 dollars on steam!
but it was still on sale so i cant really complain
Nice tutorial! It's really helping me out.
But I have one question: how do you change the speed of the game?
He said speed it up with the + sign, I'll guess that you slow with a - .
15:29 He he he. Perfect response. I agree about threats, I tend to get very vengeful when threatened or provoked in these kind of games. Often to the point of being unwilling to negotiate peace.
Pirates definitely seem to be a bit of a problem if they come after you. Is it possible to eliminate the pirates from the game if you take out their bases?
+SlashesWithClaws yes that is a very good goal to be striving for.
Yes you can destroy the pirate home base..... but is a huge feat, considering the typical massive force garrisoned there (as well as base defenses). Not much payoff, as there are no mines to build afterwards.
Yes, you can disable pirates at game creation screen, or you can defeat them if they annoy you too much.
Really Helpful videos
You need to do a playthrough of HomeWorld 1 and 2
For the fleet logistics, upgrading your command crews does not impose an upkeep cost on your income, and so would it not be more profitable to max out capital ships and make a fleet of capital ships? New player here
Capital ships take 50 supplies so you need to upgrade it some to build them.
Alex Piché Each capital ship takes up a tremendous amount of fleet slots as well as resources, and thus in order to build a large fleet of just capital ships, you would need to upgrade your fleet capacity constantly, leading to more and more of your resource income being stripped away. Additionally, these capital ships are usually slower, and can fall victim to different types of long range frigates and ships. Just in general keep a healthy balance between Capital Ships and regular ships, with a titan to back them up when you get the chance
use the lower tier class frigates for fodder so your capitals can shoot theirs. Pretty sure its a real life fleet strategy in real life.
My god...I just found your channel......SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!
Can someone please help me with the bounty system? I don't get how it works. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. :)
You spend money putting a bounty on the person you want the pirates to attack.
How do you decrease the amount of bounty against your empire? Do I need to destroy my opposing empire's ships and structures? The last time I played this game, I couldn't help myself but to just exterminate the pirates due to the fact that my enemy was an annoyance that always put bounty against my empire.
One more question! Which empire do you like to use best? Just asking. :)
In the first episode of this series I mention my favorite faction ;)
You can't lower the bounty on your empire. The bounty goes down when your ships are destroyed by enemies (including pirates).
Ahh I see. Thanks for answering! :)
I've been playing SoGE for the last couple weeks and I've noticed that my enemies get a shit load of money from "other income sources".
Can someone explain what these other sources are and how to make use of them?
(They get something like 60k resources per hour)
patrick wang Oh btw, in every custom map there're a few planets that are completely cut off from everything.
AI gets bonus income depending on the game difficulty
GetDaved can you do a playthrough of Endless Space sometime? :D
He has done one....
really?! I gotta check this out then
Really, Really.

I have done two.
When I try to watch your video on my computer, it directs me to a blank page. Anyone else that have that problem?
Sounds like you need to clean your computer, I suggest at this time - Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware both have a free version. Run em.
But to answer your question, no it does not nor did not (12 hours a go) send me to a blank page, when I try/tried to view it.
