Such a thorough and informative video, Awesome work Armando! I work an a nursing assistant in endoscopy, SO many patients have diverticular. I'm sharing this around the unit for a little nursing edu.
The absolute best explanation I've heard so far. I suffer from acute diverticulitis, the pain and sickness are worse than any stomach bug I've ever had. They put me on morphine in the hospital. In a few days, I go to an internal surgeon to discuss possible remedies. If given a choice of a broken bone, or diverticulitis I would surrender my arm to break gladly instead of diverticulitis pain. Thanks for the wonderful information.

I have been suffering with a mystery illness for 13 years, I think this might be it. Been back and forth to countless specialists and outside medical trips, and they still haven't gotten me a diagnosis yet. Such a hard way to live, honestly

I spent 7 hours at the ER last night and was diagnosed with diverticulitis. I actually thought I had a UTI, since my pain was around my bladder snd right side. It got progressively worse, and I had a fever of 102°F. They thought maybe I had sepsis, and luckily I didn't. The CT scan confirmed my diagnosis. I knew I had diverticulitis from a colonoscopy in 2020, but now my bowel is infected. I'm staring a 4 day liquid diet today, and I need to take Colyte to completely empty my bowels, which the doctor said will help. I was prescribed 2 different antibiotics. I feel like I'm dying, the pain is unreal. I need to schedule an appointment with a surgeon, and that scares me. This is such a good explanation of everything. Thank you for the great information.
I was diagnosed with Diverticulosis of the sigmoid colon supposedly, had a CT scan done with barium. My Lower abdomen is very swollen like food is just sitting there .. I'm constipated with no appetite, have to get a colonoscopy done soon. I've lost weight this year without even trying. Even drinking water or juice will bother my my bowels it's crazy.

Yes very painfull, put me in hospital 2/7 attacks. I'm currently trying to get in hospital but they keep sending me home. This has been definitely one of the most painful flare ups in the last 12 years.
I’m an Asian and was diagnosed with IBS in 2018 and Diverticulitis in 2021 and it was on my left side on the sigmoid colon.

I’ll give you guys the best tip: ICE COLD SHOWER DIRECTLY over the affected area AND over the entire BELLY AREA in the morning. First warm stay 5 minutes. Then slowly turn to ice cold. Use the wim hof method for breathing. Build up belly breathing, then when ready hit the cold water on, let it wash over the inflamed area AT LEAST 5 minutes and keep there like you are reducing a BURN. Reduces inflammation. If you keep it there for a while and resets the body to stop giving airtime to the inflamed area. Then have the liquid diet in that day, I am telling you in less than 48 hours you will be 50 percent better: if one cold shower doesn’t do it, do it again in the afternoon and again in the evening. This slowly reduces the bodies inflammation response and starts the healing . Also, try apple cider vinegar first thing after shower, either tablets or tablespoon in full glass water with straw. Don’t have anything spicy that day - and eat something with some fiber and LOW sugar all day. Plenty of water, green tea and calming thoughts. It WILL go away. Let me know how you get on.

I also with this mild cramping in the ovaries areas. Women tend to have this with the diverticulitis. I never had the bleeding. This was my first flair. Now, I eat all live foods and have no more issues! Veggies 🥗 and protein. No dairy, gluten free foods. Healed my issues! There are too many foods out there that people eat that your body can’t digest with the bad chemicals and other junk they put in Foods and it causes problems somewhere in the body. Today I’m much healthier and more energy than I’ve ever had in years. UA-cams Dr Hymen cured my health! You have to get to the root problem. Why did this happen? Not just take the drugs. Or it will keep happening. Hope this helps some people. 🤜🏼🤛🏼🙏🏼🙂
I'm trying the same approach, but it doesn't seem to working so far. I'm trying liquids only for 2 days to see if my symptoms 'cool off'
The pain is unreal - I’ve never known anything like it - I’ve had it in the ascending, wow I thought I was a gonna ! I’ve had it in the sigmoid too it was stabbing where the ascending it’s constant

thank you for this informative video. it is very detailed and now i understand what is diverticulitis . I was diagnosed w/acute diverticulitis and it is not comfortable at all... worse day of my life that i experienced excruciating pain. Im only 41y/o and first time i received morphine for pain d/t severe pain.
Now i know how important to eat right and exercise.
my advised to people....Take care of your insides and watch what you eat!!

I had this once when I was stationed in Nova Scotia.
Just got home from three days in the hospital of IV antibiotics, pain meds, and misery the likes I have never experienced. My fist bout of this disease and, Holy Moly....mine had perforated. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Going to see the surgeon next week and give him the okay to operate without putting me under if necessary.

@@manvinsingh2836 sorry to reply this late, yes it was a pick line in my arm where i had to apply a bottle every night. At the end it didn’t help much i had an stomy for nine months but the good news it’s that i was finally ‘reconnected’ 2 weeks ago. So no more stomy YAY and now im recovering from the operation and the nightmare that lasted a year and a half, i cannot wait to go back to a regular life. This thing made value life more than ever.
Barium contrast enema is not the imaging modality of choice during an acute episode of abdominal pain and should only be considered in mild to moderate uncomplicated cases of diverticulitis when the diagnosis is in doubt, or for follow-up evaluation for suspected fistula. A water-soluble contrast medium should be used, as leakage of barium into the peritoneum would be catastrophic.
Is thus because of risk of the barium being retained Or risk of perforation... absorption or because more acute abdominal episodes may need more thorough diagnostic methods to determine cause?

I want to spread the word as someone who has had intensely bad flare ups of diverticulitis. My advice to anyone, no matter your diet. The most important change I’ve made to avoid flare ups is to drink a glass of water before anything first thing in the morning. The water aids digestion, stops blockages, encourages bowel movement. Obviously, drinking water after ever meal would also be ideal, but if you’re too busy just make sure the first thing you put to your lips when you wake up is water. Touchwood I haven’t had any flare ups.

I was just diagnosed with Diverticulitis here in Canada general hospital after 2 days of testing. My symptoms are both sides stinging pains or full constant abdominal discomfort. In US they call this crohns disease. I really have more Crohns disease based on my symptoms. These 2 doctors have 50 years combined experience and i feel they misdiagnosed me

Thank you for this excellent explanation. Was diagnosed yesterday, and told nothing (even though I asked) I have horrible urinary pain, frequency, and bubbles constantly for a few weeks while urinating, yet the emerg doc, just gave me abx, and a nausea medicine. The pain is so bad, and the pressure on my bladder I haven’t slept more than 4 hours in 6 days now. I don’t know how much longer I can cope. Anyone with ideas, please let me know!

Also on top of that I have degenerative disk disease and pinched interlingual nerve and genatalfemeral nerve so I can't tak much more
I'm currently laying in a hospital bed at the age of 25 as I type this with diverticulitis and I feel like I was stabbed in my small intestine where I was told mine is located from the ct scan and just the feeling of having a knife permanently sitting inside my body in agony and feeling like my bowels are gonna fall out of my stomach
