I have been in the situation where I needed them once. Pretty scary but they work as advertised. One slip in forty years is pretty good ,huh? Worth every penny.
Nice gear Hank! Those chaps sure look good and I’m with ya on the helmet the Husq definitely looks built better but I do enjoy the knob style tensioner! Take care my friend.
Hank. Thanks for the continual posting of videos. I depend on youtube videos from you and others to help get me through the day. As you know I'm a big fan and I love your channel. Looking good sporting those chaps.
Hank, I just got the exact same Husqvarna Functional Hemet w/ ear protection. The helmet visor and mesh screen are a bear to figure out. I think I need to go back to 5th grade to learn how they connect. The assembly instructions are a piece of crap but can't allow frustration to take over. Okay my brother, take it easy. Enjoyed a full-watch. Later. Don 👍🏽🙂
Been using those chaps for the last year. They are great and have held up really well. The fit is amazing once you adjust all the straps. Also FYI WorksafeBC is a for profit workers compensation system. They have ruined many many lives and usually leave injured workers to rot every chance they get. That is how they make their profit. Cheers
👍👍👍👍👍❤️💜💙💚💗Awesome video. Growing up on a farm back in the 1950s, there were two things my dad wouldn’t let me operate, chain saw and a bush hog. Thanks for the video. God Bless.
Enjoyed this video Hank. A nice comparison of the different chaps and helmets. Another reason I wait until late Fall to cut wood is because of snakes or the lack of them.
@@HamiltonvilleFarm Hank, we started our outside decorating about two weeks ago. And we have alot of work to do to be ready for the week of Thanksgiving. But I always find time to watch your videos. Lol.
I have done some research on the sizing and I am still confused. You said that you purchased the 36-38"what is your inseam if you were going to buy a pair of jeans? After the older helmet messed up the second time I would have to permanently attach it. If the wife seen it happening she would be laughing at how annoyed I get when equipment fails. Can you comment on the cost of the arborist type class you are taking?
I think i would a little uncomfortable getting dressed on camera lol. You look like your a pro at it tho. Very snazzy chaps there Hank. I would think you get what you pay for and with the more money better the protection. We value our lives when we are working. Thanks again for sharing my friend.
I have an older version of those chaps and I have to agree, them suckers are hot. I use them in the fall and winter and my open calve chaos in the summer. What class are you going to? Did I miss something?
Your pickup blew past me on Hwy79 headed to PCB 2 Fridays ago. Don't worry she slowed down when she thought there was a cop. May want to invest in a radar detector.
Great video ,The Husqvarna helmet the face shield clips back further so chips don't fly over the top of the face shield ,.....Great video Just subscribed
Nice job. Good luck on cutting the big one down. I have to cut a couple big ones down tomorrow morning. We are finally breaking ground for our new house. I thought my excavator was gonna dig at the stump and push them over. Well no, he just wants to put pressure on it while we cut them. Hope it goes well lol.
He did that to the big oak tree and a little birch tree but we cut the big pine. It was close to the old house and about 5 feet away from an electric pole. We got them all down without any trouble.
@@jasoncline4383 That way always works fine for me but I never have a decent sized machine to do the shoving, always a compact hoe BUT it can be done. I've had the hair up a lot sometimes trying to get them to ease over the tipping point.
I decided I will never sit on a running chain saw. Cannot see the back of my leg being exposed any other way to a running chain saw. Could be wrong, strange things happen.
I know this is a year old now, but you can just simply swap the two harness systems in your hard hats, they are typically all universal for replacement reasons.
AS far as chaps go, what's a leg or life worth, Pal! I had to drag mine down and see even what kind they were. They're Stihl, 6 ply wrap around. I've had them probably 5 or 6 years and got them because I was working for the outfit and got a good deal. They're heavy BUT my FEET weight more than you do and I have NO trouble with them while sawing. That's the LAST thing I worry about with my saw screaming away right in front of me. And 10/4 on the cooler weather for wood. I'll start right shortly myself. So listen to Gina and pet the doggie. You'll be glad you did! GBWYall!
Hamiltonville Farm i don’t find they do. That said I keep my cutting for this time of the year it’s around 13C 55 F so it’s nice and cool up north (eastern Ontario Canada)
Maybe your ears are too big. Lol. I bet you can change out the head band to the turn style. Super glue your ear muffs in so they don't pop off. New toys love it!
Be thankful your not wearing a set that the trimmers at dumac forestry used to have to wear they were six ply and loop connected from the ground up to your knees and hot they'd roast ya.
Nice comparison between the chaps. I have seen the WorkSafe BC channel. They do a great job describing and showing tool and machine safety. Their circular saw and nail gun videos should be used by every shop teacher.
Wash your old pair. They dont work when dirty. The rear attachment is out of your way. Hard for guys to attach but easy to remove. Side connections are a nuisance because all tools are on your side and the chain saw is on most peoples right side.
@@HamiltonvilleFarm I just spin mine around to get to the back one or just stand still and hold my chaps and let the earth's rotation do it. Simple, really.
Great video! Thumbs up and subscribed. I just purchased the same chaps, and also had a bit of a problem with one of the snap buttons-it works, but with much effort! Anyway, for learning how to use a chainsaw (from one of the best and most experienced), check out “Buckin Billy Ray Smith”. Excellent tutorials on just about everything you need to know about every felling situation, plus bucking, splitting, sharpening, and using an ax, etc.
Been there done that. Retired 28.5 year FF in Toronto, Canada. We don’t have heat like you do in Arkansas, but it does get hot and sticky up here. 2 hours of ripping a car apart on a highway, in a major city, and you are done.

That pocket is for felling wedges. The flap on bottom of it is to open for sawdust clean out.

Any thoughts on how hot the helmet is. I noticed that some of the other inexpensive helmets have vent holes at the top. The Husky does not.
Haven't thought about it, but it does get hot in the summer, now that I think about it
@@HamiltonvilleFarm I went ahead and ordered the Husky helmet, but I'm tempted to put a few small holed in the top to vent the heat.
what has been the biggest job u have done since u have lived down in the south

As a city boy I know nothing about chainsaws or ppe. Really interesting though 👍🏻
I'm learning more and more everyday. It's addicting, lol
What do you put in that upper pocket? Thanks Mate
I haven’t put anything in it yet. Lol. But it has buttons so the bottom opens and you could put a small axe or something with a short handle in it.
