Chainsaw Chaps
Hi everyone! Thanks for much for watching! In this week's video we test out chainsaw chaps to see how they work! Let me what you'd like to see us test next.
Hi Rachel! Just love your words and the way u do it , keep it up. Device safety switches (interlock Switch) their use and limitations in chainsaw should be the next topic.
I grew up with plenty of people chopping wood not using any type of safety equipment. Your video has completely sold me on the idea that this may be a good product to invest in because I would be the on who would chop a limb off.
Awesome video, well covered and explained. You have provided an excellent service to the arborist/sawer community. Very well done, thank you, Jim H, arborist, and aerial rescue instructor.
I am getting some of these after a nasty leg injury just two weeks ago - first in 10 years. Chainsaw injuries are much worse than you'd expect. Always be prepared and wear protective gears.
That's good advice. And sorry about your leg! I hope you're recovering well.
I like the kick back. It keeps me awake.
😂
Until it throws the blade back flipped around and right into your leg like just happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Luckily just missed the femoral artery but cut an over 1 inch wide gap almost down to the bone (much worse than what you'd think it would do). I am expected to be able to start walking in one month. First accident in 10 years. I am getting protective gears as Christmas present. ... or my friend many years ago, chainsaw kicked back, the blade flew up and hit him just above the eye, then bounced back and hit him again right below his eye. His optic nerves were visible in the cut and ended up with over 120 stitches which he had to endure without anesthetic because due to the massive bleeding all anesthetic bled right out; fortunately he didn't lose his eye sight. This is no joke, chainsaw injuries are MUCH worse than you think. Always be prepared - not like we were before. Thank you for the review video!
Great video Rachel and its CHAPS!!
Thanks Tim! And I’m guessing this means loggers say CHAPS and cowboys say SHAPS?!
@@AllySafety Agree with @LoggerTim230- Great video and in my circle of motorcycle friends, its CHAPS as well!
Hearing shaps was strange but each to their own. Noticed you painted your nails to match the chaps haha cute
Thank you!
Nicely done. Clear & organized content, useful demonstration.
Subscribed.
DOUG out
Also, you asked for what to test next. How about chainsaw boots? 3:36 into the video, you are awful close to your boots. ;)
Not a bad idea...
Thank you!! Great job explaining the differences!
Great video! Thank you! I have added it to my list of things I show newby’s and others who want/need to up their safety game. One suggestion…helmet. Kickback happens and the bar can hit you in the head. This is an extra concern for me when cutting in a log pile like in the video…it is so easy to hit another log with the top end of of the saw. I also agree with the other user that it is much safer to tuck your long hair. A friend of mine recently had his very long beard get caught in a grinder…horrible accident…I can imagine long hair getting caught in a chainsaw. ;) In any case, I truly respect and appreciate your effort to put out safety videos. Young people respond better to a young person(vs. me!), so your video helps effectively ❤reach those audiences! I will be watching and recommending your other content and subscribing. You rock!
Thank you so much! Also, that's interesting. I read a lot of OSHA fatality logs on this type of thing and haven't seen one on the head but now I see what you're talking about. I appreciate the info!
does anyone know if there are any for your arms?
While wearing these chaps, does one have to also wear matching nail polish? Asking for a friend.
Not required, just recommended 😜
Neat to see, but I'd really like to see the action shot in one take go and without cutting to slow-mo. It's not really helpful to see the safety action slowed down so much - if that were real time, you could still do a LOT of damage to your leg in the time it appears to take in this video, so seeing it like that doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.
Think of all the Saw Stop videos: They all show the action in real time and it really drives home how fast and effective the safety mechanism is!
I like it. We'll do that with the next one.
Hi, I am regular viewer of your videos on UA-cam, you are doing great and a motivation for me ,
I am Shabeer Hussain a HSE professional in GULF , really appreciate your contant that you always update , thank you so much .
And I need a piece of information from you , before doing CIT what certification will you recommend me to become industrial hygienist.
And if possible recommend me any good institute if you know them personally.
Regards
Wow! Super informative and great quality video! Thank you!!
Now looking to see if you have any videos on how to find the proper fitting equipment for females lol
Not yet but I’m working on it! It’s tough!
@@AllySafety thank you!
Thanks
Respectfully, you may want to pull that hair back, rather than having it hanging inches over the bar of a fully engaged chainsaw.
Respectfully - I agree.
thanks for sacrificing the chaps
Thank you! They're not that cheap!
"Shaps”, That's short for the Spanish word chaparejos (shap-ar-EH-hos) Spain and Mexico is where they originated from.
Finally it makes sense!
I’m now an expert in the difference between Class A and Class B….
So would wearing two layers of these offer double the protection. The narrative of one layer not aiming to prevent the user being cut from a chainsaw isn’t exactly reassuring!
Chap's 😅😂
Shaps of course!
Hahahah kidding. I've never heard anyone ever call them shaps.
Of course it's shaps!
Chaps, Chaps, Chaps, all day, every day for a century or more. Where did you even get the idea of 'shaps' ?.
Where I’m from only yuppies say chaps 😂
@@AllySafety I've known them as chaps since the 50s. Western TV shows always called them chaps.
Wow, Yuppies is an obsolete term. Why would a Young Urban Professional need to have chaps of any kind?
You lose credibility calling them shaps. Cambridge dictionary calls them chaps. Eastern uppity people/urban cowboys may call them shaps.
The original Spanish pronunciation often softens the ch sound when the ch is followed by a short 'a' sound and blends the sh and ch sound into a sound that is not common to the English trained tongue. chaparral is an example.
Go ahead and call them shainsaw shaps.... We'll just laugh.
Try this with an Electric chainsaw
Shainsaw chaps
Best comment. 😂
The only people that need to wear them are dangerous people.
Pay attention to what the hell your doing and you wont cut your leg off.
😀👍
Chaps not shafts
It's not a "blade!"
ua-cam.com/video/6B0w5-HQGz8/v-deo.html
Haha, okay, okay!
@@AllySafety It's a pet peeve of mine, sorry. It was a good video.
Shaps? What are shaps? Do you not mean chaps?
Smashhhhh
Where was your hard hat bit silly not wearing one in a safety video 🤡
😂
Now do it again but don’t just hover the bar over the chaps, go full throttle and drive it into the chaps just like would usually happen during a kickback. The chaps will still work (as long as they are good quality) but your testing will be more accurate instead of looking like you are trying to fudge the results.
I think you’re interpreting malice when in fact, I was just nervous to cut through the chaps.
@@AllySafety Except that is the whole point in testing things out to see how they protect in real world situations... Being worried about how the chaps end up should be the furthest thing from your mind when trying to show people how well a safety product works that could/should save their lives.
@@kenmcmurray4006 I think she was nervous running a chainsaw. She already cut them with scissors and fully intended to take the saw to them. Plus if that husq bit in it could pull her face first on to the log pile. My thoughts
@@AllySafety The term "mens rea" is used instead of "malice" to describe "evil intent" or "guilty mind". Excellent content.
Why does she keep saying "SHaps"??!! I had to stop listening! And it's not each his own - it's a word that's pronounced correctly or incorrectly.
