      I really like how the games during the 200x's let you get kinda weird and crazy unbalanced and even a little silly, but in a somewhat INTENTIONAL way. Morrowind and Oblivion stacking speed and acrobatics and such and leaping over an entire castle's defenses or sneaking at 200mph so that even if you're bad at sneaking they can't catch you 'cause you're not even there any more, or making spells in Two Worlds that are utterly nonsensical but super fun.
      I feel like balance and polish in games after that era significantly cut down on this wild west feel, which isn't all bad, but a lot of games you can't get quite as crazy.

    One of my favorite sections of the game is where I do believe you camouflaged yourself as a grom for a quest and just chill with them like I did with parts of Fallout New Vegas with either Caesar's legion or the NCR near Searchlight.
    Also Unironically I played through this game to completion unlike Oblivion at the time where I stopped midway through the main story...So for me I guess it was an Oblivion killer?

      You're not alone. This game appealed to me and many other people (who were in a younger age group) a whole lot more than Oblivion when it came out, simply due to the sheer amount of janky stuff you could do and myriad ways to get op. Games like this + its' sequel + the entire(ok, maybe not the 4th) Gothic series. Also, something like 75% of their fanbase was German, and I found that hilarious X)
      It's only after I grew a bit older that I finally managed to see Oblivion's appeal, but by then I wasn't really impressed.

      I have played Two Worlds twice over the years, once on the 360 in 2008 and again on PC in 2016, completing all side quests, all caves, grave yards, and towers, and the main story line. I have played many games, Two Worlds is in my top 5 favorite open world RPGs of all time. It is actually a huge game that allows you to become as powerful as you want, taking 100+ hours of gameplay to complete it. It is a classic to those who have played it and it has a cult following for a reason.

    • @garrick3727
      @garrick3727 Рік тому +2

      I found this game more compelling than Oblivion which, let's face it, gets somewhat repetitive. Oblivion without mods is completely level-scaled in terms of creatures and items, so you hardly ever find anything interesting never mind where you go. Two Worlds is more like Morrowind, where different regions have a range of enemies, gradually getting tougher as you go further off the beaten track. That's way more fun for an open world game because you're constantly testing exploring new areas to see if you're tough enough to kill something and get its loot, which is likely better than what you have. Exploring the map becomes the game, and the main quest is something you do when you finally want to finish the game.

    I really think people who say The Witcher was a bad game don't understand it. They judge it based on gameplay but that's not what the game is about. It's like judging a telltale game based on combat. At the time CD Project was a small studio noone had heard about. The didn't have the resources to make amazing animations, graphics or combat mechanics. So instead they made an amazing story driven game where player choice actually mattered to a level that really had not been seen before. The story in The Witcher is one of the deepest well crafted stories you'll ever see in a video game. The combat and craftong and other gameplay mechanics are passable and by no means good but that's the only reason the game is not a 10/10.

    Game series without competitors usually become stagnant and get worse with each release, knowing the people are gonna buy their games because we have no other choice. Just look at The Sims series, the Total War games, etc.
