Approaching 1.7 billion views on UA-cam. The most watched music video from the 80’s
I saw that! That's amazing!
@@CC2Cents_ I’ve been an a-ha fan since the very beginning when I was just 12, I’m now 50, fun fact? The famous synth rift was written by magne (the keyboard player) when he was only 15 years old.
That was cool. Thank you for sharing their fun fact!
@@CC2Cents_ 3,000 Hand Drawings by 2 Artists taking 5 months:)
Possibly the best music video ever.
One of the best videos produced for MTV viewing in the 80's.
Hi, Thankyou for reacting to A-HA. I have been an A-HA fan since the take on me days when i was 16 years old. I’m almost 54 now and A-HA have continued to produce the soundtrack to my life. It’s been 37 years and I still follow A-HA. In case you didn’t know A-HA are a trio of three multi talented musicians from Oslo, Norway. Pal Waaktaar- Savoy (Pal is pronounced Paul) who is the lead guitarist and chief songwriter. Morten Harket, vocals and Magne ‘Mags’ Furuholmen, keyboards and guitar, some songwriting. A-HA are a criminally underrated and unappreciated band with a huge back catalogue of all kinds of music. A-HA’s music constantly evolves so it’s always changing. The band have released 11 albums the last one called True North was released October last year. A-HA’s lead singer has a guiness book of records for the longest note held during a live performance called Summer Moved On. It’s on youtube if you want to see and react to it. Live at Oslo, Specktram 2010. The take on me video has 14,000 hand drawings in it and live action and it took a year to make it. The video was directed by Steve Barron who made a lot of A-HA’s early videos and their butterfly, butterfly video which features clips of previous videos as it was supposed to be their last ever song. Thanks again and I hope you’ll continue to react to A-HA and their excellent music. Take care 😘 ❤️🇳🇴❤️A-HA FOREVER❤️🇳🇴❤️ 🥇🥇🥇 🎸🎹🎤 🫠🥰
Such an insightful comment. Thank you so much for sharing. This song is really catchy and has been stuck in my head. You're welcome, and thank you for watching!✌🏿
Greets from Germany : beautiful reaction to my favourite band of all times. Morton Harket`s voice is unbelievable brilliant until now.
Back in the 80's rotoscope animation was pretty much the same since it was first done in 1915. The film would be projected frame by frame on a piece of glass, then the artist would trace along the lines to make a frame of animation. The rotoscope effect can be easily created using a couple of filters in modern video software.
I love this song I'm 26 years old & that girl is cute, she looks like bonnie tyler.. 😊❤
This is a nice song!!
Devotion, loyalty, sacrifices and above all morals…Luvely love comes as cinnamon stick on vanilla tree and that makes today’s generation almost perfect . Thank you for our past video young lady x
Ótimo cantor. Ótima banda.
Thanks!
You are awesome. Thank you so much!
The last past of the video was a homage to the 1980-81 movie Altered States!
Written by a-ha. They use Simmons drums for the electronic sound.
This song was sampled. Pitbull and Christina Aguilera performed Feel This Moment. In one award show, Morten Harket appeared at the end.
Suggested other video: a-ha performs Train of Thought.
Hi cc2cents, This song was used in commercials & movies back in the day...Nice reaction & analysis too!!!
Hi 👋🏿, once i heard the song, I realized that I heard it in various places. Thank you so much for watching and for the compliment!!
@@CC2Cents_ Hi, You're welcome!!!
We all shy but living is is in fron of us
Brasil e A HA para sempre.
This was a very advanced video 40 years ago.
Good to see you back here CC
Thank you kindly!
The two hit is off shooting the video and ended up dating for years and are still close friends to this day.
I like this song, it is really pop style, released, mhh I think mid 80s, band is from norway , song always played on MTV when I was 14 or so, at that time I like to hear KISSes "Heavens on Fire", "I Love it Loud" and "Lick It Up", but now as a 50 year old guy, I have to say this song is cool, 6 of 10, btw this song was no. 1 in Deutschland and US Billbooard charts and many other countries around the world!
This song is so catchy! Thank you for sharing and for watching.
Check out the Live Germany version
Great reaction as usual. Great pop record, there’s another slower version I think
A slower version sounds like it might be nice. Thank you for watching and for the compliment!
You need to review Sade's Smooth Operator. Great song but you are a dopple ganger for her.
How about some more music by YES the greatest progressive rock group. How about "Close to the Edge" or "Awaken", "The Gates of Delirium". "Turn of the Century", "That, That Is"... Loads of good ones.
700 million views on you tube it was ground breaking vid with a catchy tune what’s not to like 😀👍
This is a catchy tune!
It’s actually got almost 1.7 billion views on UA-cam not 700 million!
@Marjorie McBride I saw that. That's awesome!
@@CC2Cents_ They’re an amazing band you really should take the time to look into the rest of their 38 year music output. Take On Me may be their best known song and biggest hit, but it’s not really considered their best song by most people who really know a-ha and all of their music. They have released 11 studio albums between 1985 & 2022, and have many other hit songs, including a James Bond theme and have record sales of over 100 million.
@@marjoriemcbride6557 wow , that must have happened the night I went to bed early 🤣🤣 I must have looked at an old report , still even The low figure isn’t bad either clearly a loved track , thanks for the correction 👍
If you're going to be a one hit wonder make it a good one.
80s European pop. Many of them were OHW. They did MTV got some bread and split.
A-ha is not a one hit wonder who did MTV & split, they went on to have countless other hit songs and are still making music today. Last year in 2022 , they released their 11th studio album True North and accompanying film, and finished off a mammoth world tour which started in 2019 but was suspended during Covid and resumed again at the end of 2021. They have record sales of over 100 million, two Guinness World records (for biggest paying crowd at a rock concert…198,000 at Rock in Rio 1991) & for longest recorded held note at 20.2 seconds on a pop song (Summer Moved On, 2000), held by their lead vocalist Morten Harket. They also did the theme song for the 007 movie The Living Daylights in 1987.
@@marjoriemcbride6557 This is the ONLY song I have heard on radio/tv in the US in the 62 years of my life. I'm not interested enough to invest so as far as I'm concerned they're OHW. Doing a movie soundtrack makes you talented but not necessarily a "hit".
@@williamjones6031 I’m not American so my perspective is different from yours, however it’s incorrect to term them one hit wonders even in the USA as their second single The Sun Always Shines On TV also charted on the Billboard 100 in 1986 at #20. The term OHW is pejorative and reserved exclusively for artists or bands who have one hit and then disappear from the charts entirely…and that means charts everywhere not just in one country such as the USA. Hits in the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world do actually count too in fact regardless of what you think.
That is so cool, closed mouths don't get fed.
Thank you!
The Eagle only flies as high as he needs to in order to catch his prey...
Cece, you just watched the MTV awards video of the year for 1985..it was a unaminous choice. I been a comic book reader/collector since the 60's and have rarely seen such great Black-and-White drawings ...dunno who the artist was, but his work is top-notch, helped big-time with the award win.
Yes, the artwork was great! Thank you so much for sharing and for watching!
The artists are Michael Patterson and Candace Reckinger. Director is Steve Barron. The video was shot on 35 mm film and the frames were drawn over. The technique is called rotoscoping, and it took the two drawers 4 months to finish the 3000 drawings used in the video.
That is talent for sure. Thank you for sharing!
Weird
Huh, your expression never changed during the entire video... were you actually watching it or was it added in later? FAIL
