    Still seeing a few comments on this after i addressed it. But to clear things up, I'm completely aware a picture of Full Throttle is shown when talking about Revolution. If you pay attention to the boarders you'll notice it belongs to a News network. This was the first reporting News network on scene and there was some confusion as they were only given "a white roller coaster with a loop in it." Since Full Throttle is extremely more noticeable then Revolution, this is probably why this mistake happened. So there isn't any more confusion NO ONE has ever died while riding Full Throttle.

    Most accidents at ALL theme parks are not the parks fault, but the fault of the guest, but the park still assumes liability. Employees sometimes get overconfident on the rides they work on and take unnecessary risks which make up some of the other accidents, I know because I did...luckily nothing ever happened to me.

"She slipped/missed jumping across as the train was coming in. Once the train grabs the chain that brings it in the station there is extreme force. It's like hollow square like tube (similar a towel bar) that runs under the trains. Regarding the newlyweds on Eagle's Flight... I was working at the park when his happened, and heard this explanation, which made more sense than the 'rocking the bucket' story: That particular Eagle's Flight bucket had been loaned out to Universal Studios to be used in the Abominable Snowman episode of 'The 6 Million Dollar Man'. The bucket was returned AND PUT BACK ON LINE WITHOUT BEING CHECKED TO SEE IF IT HAD BEEN TAMPERED WITH. The incident happened early that day, just after opening, on what would have been the first time that bucket had been used. The fact that it fell only fifty feet (it's a VERY tall ride) indicates that it fell VERY close to the departure point, during the steep climb portion of the ride, onto the concrete walkway. It is highly unlikely that these people -- newlyweds especially -- would start rocking the buckets just as they left the station.

    • @Spooky_Psyche
      @Spooky_Psyche 7 років тому +78

      Interesting. Yeah, that makes a lot more sense than the original explanation. A ride that can just plummet to the ground due to some rocking shouldn't even legally be allowed to operate anyway.

    • @socalpaul487
      @socalpaul487 7 років тому +20

      I worked there at that time & never heard that explanation. I've also talked to a long time mechanic from the park & he never said anything about that. It simply did not clamp back on to the cable before it left the station. They also extended the guide rails further out to prevent the possibility of any rocking of the buckets before they were locked on to the cable.

      Thanks @dreemfinder for giving us this great historical perspective and what is arguably a more logical and probably FACTUAL BASIS for which this accident occurred.
      I'm certain this matter was NOT leaked to mainstream media at the time and was largely swept under the proverbial rug because it smacks of the theme parks' total lack of & adherence to effective safety protocols; as well as their utter complacency, their willful negligence and their complete culpability with regards to improper maintenance and the resulting death of these newlyweds!

    I live in the area around magic mountain, its a 20 - 10min drive so I go frequently. My friends and I were there in 2015. We were celebrating our graduation and we headed over to Revolution because we hadn't rode it yet. We started walking up to the entrance when we noticed workers weren't letting people in. We stood there in confusion wondering if we should ask how long the ride was going to stay closed for since it was open earlier when we saw the people working with the ambulance run in with the stretcher. We started to talk to each other in disbelief that someone passed out or died. We decided to leave the scene because out childish minds thought the person had gotten mutilated somehow and we didnt want to see the corpse being dragged out. Anyways, the rest of the day passed and being really immature we joked about with some friends we encountered on how we saw a person die on revolution and saw the ambulance workers come and take her corpse out, unknowing of the severity of the real incident. We were really disrespectful and I wish I never took part in the joking about it. Well the next day my friend was on the news and she saw that she had died. She ended up recording what they were saying on her cell phone and sent it to all of us. Needless to say we all were in shock and regret for the jokes we had made. The memory is fuzzy and I'm not really sure if it was a stretcher or not but it looked like one.

    Just a few more details on Cherie La Motte. She was a ride operator at the revolution station. When the ride arrives to the station, it makes a total stop at the entrance where it is not yet ready to unload and load passengers, when that occurs, sometimes the operators in order to cross the tracks they can do so with the train stopped at the entrance only, the signal to cross is holding up a fist so the operator on the controls can push pause so the train doesn't move into the station. Well when she tried to cross the tracks, she did lift her fist but not high enough for the operator to see, so the train went in, it startled her and she misstepped on the tracks causing her to fall in during the train rolling into the station. She had no time to get up from the tracks and was crushed. Now the signal to cross the tracks is holding both arms up above the head in a criss cross manner, they cannot cross until the operator says so on the loudspeaker. The track she crossed was a very thin platform so now they widened it for easier crossing. I should know , I was there when it happened, I worked as a security guard at the time. May she rest in peace.

    Frankly it sounds like every time you hear about someone ejected from a coaster due to restraint failure, the unfortunate guest always complained about feeling unsafe but was reassured by an operator. I’m sure most operators have never dealt with a potential tragedy so they believe it to be safe. I think the message here is that if you’re feeling unsafe, just get off the ride regardless of the reassurance of the operator. They generally trust their rides and don’t foresee something so tragic happening.

    To keep guests out of restricted areas, I did call maintenance a couple of times to retrieve lost hats. No trains can be in motion while anyone is in the danger zone... the ride has to essentially be shut down until it's clear.

    Original Magic Mountain logo depicted from 10:44-52, also the same one depicted on the hard-hat that my uncle wore when it was being constructed. He actually picked the site of Magic Mountain, named it, and was the first President there, where prior to that, he was one if the VP's at Seaworld. He was at Magic Mountain for the first couple of years, then moved on.
    He was also the 5th person to be hired by Disneyland Inc. in 1954, before Disneyland was built, and was the Park operations manager from 1956-61, before moving on th renovate Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio in 1961. I can quite easily document these facts!

    Months before the closure of Deja Vu I almost died when the harness failed as soon as the ride started. Luckily my scream/other's screams to stop the ride got the attention of the operator fast enough and they were able to halt the train. The harness was locked in an open position and they couldn't get it to reset so they taped it up and let me ride in another seat. 3/4 of the people on the ride got off the train and it went as normal with no problems. I can't imagine how bad my death would have been if the harness failed during the initial drop or any other point of the ride given its intensity.. They gave me a nice cold bottle of water once I got off the ride though so that was nice. lol

    • @MattMcIrvin
      @MattMcIrvin 6 років тому +4

      Hmmm... seems like the biggest problem would have been the vertical lifts. I don't think you can stay in the seat on those without the restraints.
      I recall hearing about an incident on Lake Compounce's Zoomerang in which a restraint popped open during the ride... but the rider just held it down manually and stayed in his seat. But the Zoomerang is a regular Boomerang, not a Giant Inverted Boomerang--there's no vertical lift, and no airtime; the g-force is always positive and (while I wouldn't recommend it) on a normal run you could probably ride the whole thing, including the inversions, with no restraint at all.

    Story time:
    Background Knowledge; My family has a history of developing conditions that are potentially lethal such as "Heart Arrhythmia" and the arrythmia acts up when I get nervous and full of anxiety
    Real Time: So one day during 2015 My family and cousins and friends decided to go to Six Flags, and because of past stories such as these ones the video provides, I get a bit paranoid that something bad will happen when I'm on the coaster. So when I was in the line, I saw signs that said "Do not ride if you have heart conditions" and I thought to myself "I don't know...I can't go back now...but my condition...I'm still really young, I can't die from that." So after the whole day of riding, nothing my heart effect me in anyway, we got back home, that same night during 3am, I felt rushed, my blood was pumping hard and I was not tired...so I stood up, and...i felt three strong irregular heart beats. It felt like I was having a heart attack
    It was difficult to breathe and I could barely move but then it just stopped. After that day, my heart was stunted, I could not run at all, I could barely walk and still get tired.
    So after I told my mom what happened, she took me to the doctors and I got a chest scan, but the doctors said they found nothing wrong at all. I was confused that they found nothing, I even went to an expert because they thought it was just strong emotions causing the problems but I told them no, so I went to the lower levels of the hospital and even got a heart monitor strapped to me for 6 weeks, a monitor made for 60+ year old seniors, and it was a 14 year old boy wearing it, me. After that was over, they still found nothing.
    But after 2 years after the accident
    To this very day, I recovered so much, I can run fast, I can run for so much longer,
    but at random times, I get a random strike of arrhythmia that are kinda strong and I get slowed down.
    *In the end, I never want to go back.*
    Sidenote; the heart condition has been affecting me for years before as small irregular heart beats but, that night, it felt like everything. Every thing that happened before, felt like nothing.

      The big Six Flags event that led to death was in my home state of NJ at Six Flags Great Adventure. In the 1980s, a haunted house attraction caught fire and led to the death of eight people. It is still the worst event to happen at an amusement park in terms of lives lost. However, there was a Japanese roller coaster accident that led to about 16 injuries and I believe 1 death, so there were tragedies that harmed more people, but the Haunted Castle fire at SFGAd was the worst in lives lost to ever happen at an amusement park.

      It was common. A similar accident happened at Six Flags Over Mid America (St. Louis) in 1978. Three young girls and an old man were in one of the gondolas. The girls were rocking it violently and it of course fell where the Ninja is today. The girls died and the old man was seriously injured.

    Great video.. all amusement parks/water parks are safe as long as u follow the rules. Now it is sad what happens at magic mountain before six flags owning it. Now stuff does happen beyond the park control but as far as people passing out the park has signs that says if u have certain conditions don’t ride. Those are there for a good reason

  • @LongForgottenOne
    @LongForgottenOne 7 років тому +1

    You can't state that none of the deaths were six flag's responsibility. Six flags can’t respond for visitors failing to follow security protocols, but employees failing to follow security protocols are indeed six flag’s responsibility as the employees that work for a company are the company. If you are mistreated at a store is not the employees name who is at risk, is the company that he represents as a whole who is offending you. Rule of the leader, the mistake of anyone at your charge is your mistake.

    • @aMondayMorning
      @aMondayMorning 6 років тому +1

      What people usually mean by saying that is that most of these accidents are due to specific park mismanagement/employee error and doesn't reflect the entire company with 30+ parks as a whole.
      However, if the safety systems of the ride fail, failsafes don't do their job, and the ride injures passengers, then the park itself, SixFlags as a company, and the ride manufacturer will all be at fault. The park for not spotting the error and stopping the ride if necessary, Six Flags for building and hosting a faulty ride, and the manufacturer for designing a faulty ride.
      Take what I say with a grain of salt.

    Pearl Santos death on Goliath, I was at Six Flags Magic Mountain that day. I took two of my friends to magic mountain, ecstatic to ride Goliath, one of the newest rides at the time. Once we entered the park, we noticed the ride was shutdown, for unknown reasons. It was still early in the day, but a few hours later the ride was opened back up and we rushed to get on the ride before the line got too long. It was later that night when we got home, we seen on the news that someone had died on the Goliath ride... It was shocking to know the true reason why the ride was shut down temporarily that day.

He was super drunk and that is why he ran up though everyone and he never stopped at the top he just kept going and he jumped down the slide then bounced off and down to the fence. He was so drunk the fall actually didnt phase him at all and actually kept running till security caught him and then went to the hospital after

    hey just fyi, i worked revolution 10 years after the incident, and we were told about it during training. never given full details but i can say, the rides spare parts area is directly under the station, and had she tried to wiggle between the supports she may have lived, but thats neither here nor there. one thing we were told is wait until the train has unloaded before giving the signal to cross and wait for the main panel op to acknowledge it with "hands off holding for cross". and putting their hands in the air above the panel. working as a ride op, there where some days, things just didn't go quite right (nothing dangerous, i knew the rides original design and knew it was safe if procedures were followed, but every now and again, i wonder how close i came. it doesn't haunt me, but i feel sad for the young woman who died working on the same ride i did, just 10 years earlier. my commitment to safety was much higher than my other fellow ride ops, and they knew it. they trusted me when i told them not to load a train, there is going to be a damn good reason for it. sadly I had to leave due to medical reasons(no physical injuries, but got a nasty fungal infection while working there) and there are days i do miss working there, everyday was different, rarely ever boring and getting to ride one of my favorite rides nearly every day i worked was the one perk i would take again if i could.

    I totally agree with you you know there are stupid people in this world that need to listen to rules and when you don't listen those rules they could be dire consequences. Even though you may be a Six Flags guests you should consider the rules because they are for your safety. People need to stop being so full of pride Listen to Rule act like an adult instead of children. Just because you have money to go into the park doesn't mean you have no right to listen to the rules and act like you own the damn place when in fact you don't.

      Barnaby Swift the new restrains on twisted colossus have seat belts and the lap bar is hydraulic. And they have restraints to keep your legs in tight also. Very much upgraded

      There have been 3 or 4 different trains used on Colossus over the years. Each had different restraint systems.

      Barnaby Swift Twisted Colossus is basically a completely new ride with very little used of the old colossus ride, including completely new trains. It also has completely different g forces since it has a completely different track and layout.

    Imagine being in queue for the Goliath and the cart comes back with a dead person

      That happened to me, but with The Voyage at Holiday World last month. Everyone had to leave the queue because a woman had come back unconscious. She later died.

    We went to Magic Mountain about a week after that woman died on Colossus... ive always heard that the woman was only about 5 '1" and severely overweight/obese.. thats why the lap bar wouldn't lock.. she was just too big...

    This is why most (if not all parks) make sure everyone's lap bar clicks and you can't ride if you're too big for it to click. People get offended and have hurt feelings but it's about safety.
