That Bill Bates pick was a seriously emotional moment. Bates busted his ass to get playing time. The first day Jimmy walked into Valley Ranch Bates was in full pads doing pull ups. He worked relentlessly with the strength and conditioning coach pulling against that rubber band to improve his speed. He was the best gunner we had until Kenny Gant took over. I cried like we had won the Superbowl.
Many great memories with my family watching most of these games. How I really wish Romo could have got a Super Bowl,...he never had a solid defense like Aikman had.

He just wanted to be another one of the guys. Aikman used to get in his linesmen's faces and chew them out if needed. Romo would not. I remember before the 2014 season, Garrett made the statement that Romo would be more closely involved in directing the offense. That was his best year, barely losing to the Packers in the "Dez no catch game."
