A lot of these catches are incredible, but I also just want to point out how PHENOMENAL a lot of these throws are. Romo was a rare, special talent that wasted his best years on a team that refused to invest in protection until he had already been so battered it was too late.
Also, Dez caught it.
it just shows what a solid defense can mean....look at Dallas' 2022 squad. Cooper Rush OR Dak....still 9-3. I don't think the Romo + this defense argument stands....the defense got Dallas here and it'll carry them as far as they can go. Anthony Brown....heal up brother.

Roy Cisneros they couldn't develop chemistry because one of them would have had to change the way they play. Dak is a safer thrower than room ever was, but that gambler mentality room had is what also helped Dez out so much.

• Devin • Pretty sure Romo entered the season injured. Not only did that effect him in the preseason but it also effected him for the first couple of games. But in total he only missed 1 game that season, but obviously romo needed back surgery and wasnt at full potential. Not sure if u remember or not

I got that, but I think you missed my point. My issue was not with his role with the Saints.
As soon as Dez would have made a play at 3rd/4th option they would equate that to getting him the ball as a 1st option. BIG DIFFERENCE.
The top corners would not cover him, but the usual weapons Brees shines with,
So he should be the best 3rd/4th option.
No hate for Brees so no need to hype him to me. I thought he was the real deal when people thought he was too short. I said then... put him in a scheme that fits him.
I'm not a stat guy. Meaning.... stats are impressive, but they don't tell the entire story.
This is why there will always be a debate. People didn't like Emmitt, but look at where he stands record wise. There will always be someone who claims someone better but with less stats for one reason or another.
I think Brady is good, but as someone in an article wrote comparing players outside of their era makes no sense because the game was different. They would not have had the schemes they have now, nor the athletes, nor the rules, etc...
So I go by era. I don't believe in GOATS when it comes to team sports because there are so many factors involved.
I wanted Sean Payton in Dallas but we let him get away. Heck I would have replaced Parcells with him. But people were still old school. Then Payton embarrassed his behind in their first meeting.
Do you think Brees would have shined the same under Jason Garrett? No.
Sean Payton has in place the perfect scheme and cast for the scheme to roll like it does.
So my point wasn't about the Saints. It was more about my fellow Cowboy fans who would have used a 3rd/4th option shining to claim it as a 1st option shining WR.
I thought Dez was great, but many Cowboy fans refuse to accept he isn't the same player that is in the highlights shown here. They need to get over it wipe the chip off their shoulder.
And now with an injury like that at his age that adds on to past foot injuries he might need to consider his future outside of football, because it will be hard to comeback from and be effective at his position.

Look this dude fizzled out a lil at the end. He never had chemistry with daq. But there was a 4-5 year window when this kid couldn't be stopped. He was so strong his yards after catch were insane. A great 50/50 ball receiver. Not the best ruote runner but still a phenomanl talent.

Not sure if you changed your mind by now but do you see how he plays without a good line. Garret has blocked both Romo and Dak but at least now we have a decent defense

As a. Cowboys Fan, I'm excited and hype for when he gets on the active roster. Baltimore just became my 2nd team I'm rooting for because of Dez. I'm ready to buy a Ravens jersey with Bryant's name on it.

He was up there with any top receiver during his era. And at his peak was as good as some all time greats. I miss him. I hope he signs with a contender and gets a shot at a ring. He deserves it. Darryl Austin He carried a lot of Cowboys team over the years... when the front office couldn’t build a defense to save their lives. Cowboys regularly scored in the high 20’s & low 30’s when Romo was around and still lost games... that shouldn’t happen.

I liked Romo but always felt he was inconsistent. One minute he's throwing dimes next he's throwing a picks.
He carried the team to so many games they shouldn't have won. He had a bad o-line and had to put up a ton of points since the defense was also bad. Just sucks that the team is finally better, but his body started failing him.

Go check out weeks 4-6 in the 2016 season while Dez was out injured. 3 wins. Averaged 29 pts/gm. Zeke averaged 143 yds. Dak averaged 298 yds & 3 TDs per game. His best stretch was w out Dez in 2016 💀💀💀

Romo and dez was a combo as deadly as any. Each player made highlights of the other from rookie year (dez) until their huge almost moment in 2014 with the catch. Every cowboy fan knew that that specific year could’ve been a superbowl with the dominance of that connection , reliability of Jason written the Oline Demarco Murray. Defense was good. Dez is the definition of a tough receiver who can do it all if the hall is within radius. Instead of the fast flashy players , there are those elite big body receivers that just can’t be guarded. I wish both Romo and dez had an extra 4 years in them before they left

Dez still has big play ability in my opinion, not sure if he is still as fast due to him getting older but he will still be an awesome asset to whatever team picks him up. Dallas should pick him back up just because Linehan is no more.
