If you remember Scott said the game kept getting bigger and bigger so they had to change things multiple times and in the end they were rushed but gave in to the pressure of fans. They could have spoke about the state of the game and I'm sure so people would be okay with them fix bugs and story. But we will never know sadly

NGL the idea of a version of vanny that is basically a tumblr serial killer stan is the goofiest thing, but I honestly love that goofiness (i mean, this franchise literally has sea bonnies and futuristic murder robots, a serial killer obsessed teen/young adult is honestly pretty grounded).

It made me so sad that Vanny didn't really return in the DLC. I mean, sure, we had MXES and the VANNI network, but the actual villain is no more and now we're facing the mimic. The ending of the game was so obvious from the first time you hear the walkie-talkie. Truly sad to see how Steelwool ruined such a good villain for the mimic...
I’m also just generally sick of the whole “split personality” villain (especially if possession is the main cause of their plurality) as someone with Dissociative Identity Disorder. The whole trope only stigmatises the plural community further and leads to things like violence and misdiagnosis happening to us, some of which I’ve experienced firsthand. And fnaf is no stranger to the trope (baby, sun/moon)
I liked Vanny originally because of how she had a buncha serial killer vibes that we hadn't seen before in the series. I loved the idea of a fangirl who essentially tries to recreate the classic murders by hacking and stealing animatronics and old broken memorabilia. That idea was actually what started us trying to make our own Vanny suit, which we got pretty far with. Now that we've been able to, mostly, come out of the closet, we hope to someday do a full cosplay of her

After watching this I kind of feel like ruin has elements of what steel wool wanted for the base game. Specifically, I remember hearing about a vanny meter or something. I don’t remember exactly how it worked but from what I do remember it reminds me of how mxes attacks you if you have the mask on for too long.
I'd like Vanny being some crazed FNAF (the games in universe) fangirl who has William as her husbando and that's why she was looking to replicate his acts. And when she had the opportunity to test one of the latest FNAF games (the VR project) she accepts and gets what she thinks is an opportunity to talk with her favourite character.
I’m sorry but I really really disagree with this. As well as all of your other comments. That character would hardly even be “Vanny” anymore. Nothing similar besides the costume I guess, and “girl”. Plus, it’s a shallow motivation that could easily become misogynistic, it’s even worse than William’s motive, which is practically none. And it would hardly have anything to do with the past of fazbear entertainment. (Unlike el Mimi and the Murrays) I love Vannessa/Vanny current (my fav character), I just dislike the way her story was executed. Thinking about her relationship with GGY is very interesting as well, especially now that Gregory seem to have lost his memory of those times
@@amphibiland7315 While I agree that the Possessed!Vanny interpretation is great, I think Copycat!Vanny is the best variant of the character, if executed correctly. Most people think of Copycat!Vanny as just an obsessed Afton fangirl who becomes a killer just because she’s in love with Afton, which is indeed kinda cringe. But this can easily be fixed by making her core motive hatred for Freddy Fazbear’s, and not love for Afton. Imagine this: Vanessa is a sweet and bright little girl who likes robotics and wants to become an engineer when she grows up. This is why she loves Freddy’s. However, one day, while playing at a Fazbear Amusement Park that had miraculously survived Freddy’s downfall, a bunch of bullies are annoying her, and pranking her. And one day, they go too far. They accidentally cause her to have an accident that involves her hitting her head and being severely injured (a great callback to Fazbear’s history of accidents involving head trauma). Or just some kind of bad experience that changes her for the worst, and makes her develop an irrational hatred of Freddy’s. Vanessa’s resentment towards Freddy’s and the world in general grows stronger as time passes. She starts imagining destroying the company somehow. So, she starts researching about Freddy’s dark past. And that’s when learns about him. About William Afton. She learns about the MCI, and how he corrupted the franchise by wearing a mascot costume and luring innocent children to their deaths. Vanessa is fascinated by this. Not necessarily with Afton himself, but with what he did. She Develops and unhealthy admiration for him, and quickly starts fantasizing about doing something like what he did. But by then Fazbear Ent. is dead, so she isn’t angry enough at Fazbear Ent. So maybe she focuses more about fantasizing about meeting Afton, and might develop a crush on him. Or she can simply just admire him. But then, Fazbear Entertainment is restarted, and starts becoming popular again… And Vanessa can’t stand this. Her hatred for the franchise resurfaces, and she quickly spirals down into madness, fueled not by love for Afton, but by hatred towards Freddy’s. And eventually, she snaps. And because she admires Afton, she decides she would become like him. She would be the new Fazbear Killer, making her own rabbit suit inspired by him. This takes away the cringe of her being just a fangirl, and establishes her as a real threat and intimidating villain. A deeply disturbed and mentally unstable woman who has a deep resentment towards Freddy’s. But since she remains with some of her normal personality, she has a disturbingly cheerful way of behaving, giving us an AMAZING and *terrifying* juxtaposition for her. She’s playful, but extremely violent. Her voice is soft and sweet, but says all sorts of sinister things, occasionally breaking her bright character to cackle maniacally. Just like in the trailers. (protective) Gregory… It’s getting late (caring and worried about Gregory’s wellbeing) Let’s get you home… … *And put you to bed…* *I see you…* … *(Maniacal Laugh)* And that’s how you fix Copycat!Vanny and make her the most formidable variant of her character (at least in my opinion). She isn’t just Afton’s Fangirl. She’s more. She’s Afton’s Heir. The Woman Behind The Slaughter. The Fazbear Killer. The Purple Woman. And you could keep her as a “creepy obsessed fangirl” to really squeeze all the creepiness of her character. But it’s less cringy since she has her own agenda and motives, and is already as evil as Will. So you can allow her to have that sort of “guilty pleasure” without being too cringe.
Also I dislike the 180 change of their personalities. Vanessa went from a quite scared security guard who was trying to help Gregory out. To become a KAREN in the final game. And Vanny most of the same. Instead of this deceiving and abnormally friendly lady. To have another random threat without even personality.
7:35 To be frank, the "Vanessa had rainbow colored hair" thing immediately reminded me of Scrap Baby's hair. I know it's not exactly "rainbow" but I had the mental image of those colored wires shaped into pigtails and I was like... "Is William trying to 'recreate' Elizabeth ?" I mean, she did try to carry on the "family tradition" by killing children as Baby and William did warn her to not get close to the Funtime Animatronics. If he felt any sort of affection toward someone, it seems likely to me that it will be toward her. On top of that, I find Vanny's gesture to be very reminiscent of a little girl's, may it be her walking animation or how she appeared in Security Breach's cutscenes. So, since Wiliam is basically brainwashing a female character (who is theorized by some to be an Afton since her last name canonically begins with "A") to be his "apprentice" of sort. I thought that he was trying to incorporate his beloved killer daughter's persona into Vannessa's mind. That's just so fucked up and weird that I found this idea to be perfect for William. I'm not trying to say I KNOW that this what it meant, but that's how I interpretated this.
Although RUIN is an improvement compared to the og game but I'm still disappointed with what they did with Vannessa/Vanny as she only appear for one sec for one ending and had her name use as an anagram. Like the direction of the story is still wonky with some cute moments with character but it's disappointing how poorly they handle her.
oh yes… i definitely have some things to say about ruin soon hehe :-) great game- not for us vanny enjoyers though. hopefully vanessa at least gets some time to shine as a protagonist here on out
@@quinnamon I think Ruin fleshed her and Roxy out the most. In terms of returning cast. But only fleshed her in terms of recontexting Ven and Vans relationship. Like how freddy couldint see her because she was in safe mode. But can see her later because Roxys eyes are hooked up to the ai network. Btw if I remember right Roxy can see after lossing her eyes but only the ai world. One recontexting is that Ven likely willing put on the the security mask while glitch trap was manipulating her around and showing her a false reality like what the mimic dose.

The explain the "Games are Games" situation and trying to help anybody that's still confused: To the characters on the FNaF Universe the games we played are indeed games to them too, and at the same time these games are telling us the real lore that happened on the FNaF Universe, the MCI, Bite of 83 and 87, Phone guy death, Charlie's death, Elizabeth's death, William to Springtrap to Scraptrap, the FFPS Fire, all of that happened. So, the games are games but the lore was real.
yeah I think the whole point was to give Steel Wool some wiggle room on the old lore, so when something from the SW era contradicts something from the Cawthorn era, it can be played off as an unreliable narrator.
As I understood it when I first saw it, the original games depict what happened, and the VR game is smth made by Fazbear Entertainment for the purpose of idk.

as someone whose first real experience with fnaf was watching markipliers playthrough of security breach, vanny seemed completely random. i had no idea she was meant to be the main antagonist. i hadnt seen any trailers, was totally unaware of the hype, etc. i love security breach, but MAN it has a lot of problems!! vanny could have been SUCH a compelling villain.
Vanny is the only character that i prefer the fanon over canon, having her being a fan of William but getting relutant to follow his command and trying to idk save the security girl is such a incredible idea I love The Mimic in Ruin, he's a great villain but i wish Vanny had a chance to glow in it
I prefer the idea of Vanny being a normal girl before the possesion of Glitchtrap, becoming very interested in all William's murderers and slowly wanting to help him over time, going from "Im not helping you and I hate you" to "omg yes Will whatever you want". Also, the idea of Vanny and Vanessa being ex's is so perfect, I love it. They could been together for a time, but after Glitchtrap's possesion Vanny becomes obssesed with William, distancing from Vanessa. I loved the video, very cool
To note, according to the books: Gregory was also under control of glitchtrap, and he was the one that hacked the pizzaplex along with helping kill other kids. The books are hella confusing though.

All they really had to do to make it more interesting is actually keep the Vanny meter and have her stalk you the whole game, and add all of her voice lines back. Most of that was finished (or at least as playable as the rest of the effing game) so they could literally have just done that. With all the patches they've made it's clearly deliberate that they've steered away for some reason.
My friends and I pitched the idea of Vanessa becoming "Deathtrap" in our own retelling of SB. Essentially, Vanny's an absolute psychopath. More specifically, _a copycat killer._ Inspired by Freddy's and the Afton Killings, she decides that she'll do the same. Rabbit suit and all. Five kids, stuff 'em in the animatronics, how hard could it be? The Vanny suit doesn't exist. Rather, she's building her *own* Springbonnie suit out of any scraps of *old* Springbonnie suits she can find, right down to the springlocks. No matter the condition, no matter how matted or moldy or ruined or gross, she finds old suits' parts and pieces and patches them together into a *horrible* amalgamation of a costume. She HAS to be the same as him, otherwise what's the point of going about killing? Before SB, she finds *him.* Or at least, what's *left* of him. The suit is ruined but the ears are still salvageable. At least she can take those. We never settled on which point she tries on the suit, or if Gregory finds her in the suit, but the point is... ...Deathtrap is a fresh corpse in a terrifying, moldy amalgamation of many, MANY Springbonnie suits. And with her dying breath, she *will* get at least *one* kill. She *will* be like him, even if it's one. Singular. Child.
i’ve kind of dropped out of the fandom after security breach, no longer keeping up with stuff after security breach came out. i was soo upset that vanny wasn’t more of a big deal because i absolutely loved her character and design- i even made myself a vanny mask at one point. but i absolutely love your take on her!! i’m personally a fan of her being manipulated by glitchtrap just because i think those kinds of characters are fun, but her willingly going along with what he tells her to do because she’s just a fan of him is also super fun
SPOILERS FOR RUIN It’s honestly really weird how we’re shifting to a new era of vanny/Vanessa already. From being an antagonist to protagonist ( hell even the movie reflects this with her being one of the protagonist in that ) and it’s honestly an era that I feel like has came up WAY to quickly. While I am interested in seeing how they use her now, I am still gonna be pretty upset that she never made her full impact when she was a villain especially with all the build up she got.
I think at first up until 3 AM most of the Vanny appearances are a good setup for what the last half of the game could do for her, but instead she literally just vanishes from the plot until the ending, (only appearing in the sewers for like 5 seconds during Decommission Chica) same goes with Vanessa. I think Vanny could've been done way more justice in the story with like 2 more full scenes, maybe one with a monologue like from the trailer.
Sometimes I just have an urge to have the fandom mass-redo the lore of everything. Keep everything’s sole idea, but remove random unnecessary stuff and random unclear retcons like the “everything is a game!1!!1!1” thing. I far prefer everything from pizzeria sim and before, but I obviously also love security breach as its own thing too and am hyperfixating over the daycare attendant like everyone else, but I agree it has its issues. Never really got vanny or her appeal, she felt super out of place to me, but I do really like the whole “person idolizing someone horrible” as an idea.
It's weird to say, but I feel if they wanted to keep vanessa and vanny as seperate characters, they could make them twins, utilising the fact that the security guard (who is trying to help) and the killer bunny (need I explain what she's doing?) having the same face, and Gregory managing to get her mask off in a struggle or something could cause a pretty easy way for him to not want to work with Vanessa. Maybe Vanny as a name (along with redying her hair blonde) was done to implicate her sister to keep her from getting in her way of trying to impress her idol by killing folks. While it's a generic twist, it is something that would lend a more dynamic plot structure to SB. If I were tasked with adapting FNAF in it's entirety into a movie franchise of TV form, that's what I would do for the SB portions.
I feel like steelwool overestimated how hard it would be to fit the amount of story they *possibly* had planned SB, because obviously in thr trailers the game was entirely different - it's a shame really. And I've been thinking about this, but when Vanny talks about "your friends are worried about you", it made me think about those disappearances that happened...and then made me realise that, those missing kids (presumably, no implied ages, but given the "afton legacy" it's most likely) were Gregory's friends which Vanny (presumably) killed, making Gregory's running away reasonable. I think this also because at the end when you choose the routes to the endings, he mentioned how if he leaves the disappearances wont he solved , this implies that his goal this whole time (his reasonings for sneaking in after hours possiby) was to reveal this truth... I really wish we got the "full" version, even if it was delayed another year i think i would've been happy with a more fleshed out game
Yk, Considering how the disappearances are barely mentioned in game right alongside with gregory having zero obvious motivation and them just not really explaining why hes there, makes me think this was/ is the intended story path.
Following your idea for the story, I feel like it would really work if vanny willingly put herself in an old spring-lock suit either for the finale battle or the epilogue. Just a way to tie her willingness for and idolization of springtrap (and probably continue his legacy). Possibly she puts herself in a new suit that was meant to revitalize burntrap but was foiled or ran out of time with the full operation.
Plus, it would’ve been cool if there was some kind of foil to her. Like a Henry to William. I know the game suggests that anyone that was either suspicious or learned the truth of Vanny was likely disposed of, but I think that cheapens Vanny’s character and makes her kind of overpowered. I know William was able to delude people but even he had people working against him like Henry and Michael.
@@liviwaslost The problem is that the people working against afton were very close to him because literally no one else knew. I think the main problem is that we don't actually see vanny interact with anyone apart of the pizzaplex . Not completely that she has no prior foes. Like the pizzaplex is still owned by a large corporation, whats their relation with vanny. And like you said just having the coworkers all disappear so easily seems cheap. Like sure you can have it happen but have some drama behind it. Dont let it just be somthing that just easily happened off screen.
I love this idea so much that someday I would be onboard with playing a better version of Security Breach. Once they finish their timeline, I think it’d be great if they did something like that
I like the AU side of the FNaF community because they can really resurrect lost/butchered concepts. I would have loved to see the nice Vanessa who's actually concerned for Gregory, only to have Vanny start to show through the cracks until she completely takes over. Hell, I write AUs myself and I use that as a baseline! Vanessa being a bitch is just... not something I like. She already seemed paranoid in some of the FNaF AR emails, so the idea of her knowing what could happen to Gregory if she doesn't at least try to help him makes sense. It's sad they didn't stick with it, or even playing AS Vanessa, trying to keep Vanny (a literal PART OF HERSELF) under control as she looks for a lost child. Would've been really nice.
So wait- if now we know the princess quest ending was the cannon one based on ruin, Then that means in the fire ending, the Vanessa we saw on the roof *IS* a representation of her digital soul or whatever still trapped in the arcade machines. And Freddy killed her real body in the Vanny costume, possessed by glitch-trap.
Honestly that part of the animatronics being rescued sounds like what people did with the security malware breach comics, fan made sure but would make for a hell of a game if you can call the animatronics for the functions you had to give the parts to Freddy for. You still essentially earn them by beating them in their own arenas but you don't have the fact of a small 'child' knocking a heavy as hell robot into a trash compactor or the nonsense of running over Roxy. Does it have potential? Yes, but I imagine it would have taken a lot more time to make.

Personally, I enjoy your idea of Vanessa/Vanny as one of those crazy fan girls who loved the serial killers way too much! It would make more sense for her SB trailer self, trying to lure Gregory in with nice words like others might do. It could also show some of her faults with trying to be a serial killer. Perhaps her playfulness leads to her playing around with Gregory and letting him advance throughout the night. We could assume she was being childish as Vanny and that’s why she let the mini music man out. (Because otherwise that doesn’t make sense does anyone know why she let him out???) I’d love to see a follow up video with your Ruin thoughts and possibly how they could’ve worked Vanny lore into the plot! Also, do you believe the Glitchtrap virus might find a new player in Cassie after her only friend betrays her and she has nothing? (Mimic def dropped the elevator but Cassie doesn’t know that)

Instead of Burntrap, perhaps it could’ve been Bonnie molded into the image of burntrap/spring trap or whatever. That way Vanny keeps the appeal of an overzealous fan instead of a manipulate henchman

So he becomes this pained mess chasing whatever intrusive though fuels him forward, to Try to always comeback. which then led to glicthtrap being a represetantion of the trauma a person who does alot of bad more than the good they may have leaves behind, leading to a misguided person taking the mantle. Glicthtrap being more the Mimic, influecing Her mind to lean into the dilosuions and ingore the flaws. tbh future springtrap stuffz was also very missed potential, we couldve had burntrap/glitchtrap. A massive threat that corrupts everything in its way and what did we get.... peepaw afton. not that im complaining the memes are pretty funny. How is this comment 3 days old, after ALL the information that not only books revealed but Ruin too, William died in UCN, (technically after it in the frights but he basically died after ucn), Glitchtrap is the mimic1 ai, and burntrap is the Mimic, or what the mimic would have become if we didnt release Vanny in the true ending, burntrap never existed, its just a comic gregory drew.

I enjoyed this video! It was fun! I love Vanny as a character and was absolutely heartbroken that she was almost entirely dropped out of the game. But I can say that the ending where Vanessa is saved is the true ending and can take some solace in the fact that while Vanessa is free, a piece of Vanny will always still linger on in the world!

Oh yeah. Every time I rewatch the Security Breach trailers my hatred towards the game grows. Vanny had SO MUCH potential no matter what path they chose to go down, but they chose to do nothing with her. And they fact they chose to abandon her in favor of Mimic in Ruin is just salt on the wound. Great video all the same. The only critique I have is that sometimes the music got a little too loud and conflicted with your voice. Aside from that, good job.

This was a very cool and interesting video. It is a shame that Vanny had been very inconsistent, or/and underused. There are way too many contradictions about who vanny is or even looks like, and while I can’t imagine a way to fix the characters flaws in the current cannon, I really enjoyed your creative reimagining of her. It made me so sad that Vanny didn't really return in the DLC. I mean, sure, we had MXES and the VANNI network, but the actual villain is no more and now we're facing the mimic. The ending of the game was so obvious from the first time you hear the walkie-talkie. Truly sad to see how Steelwool ruined such a good villain for the mimic...
I’m also just generally sick of the whole “split personality” villain (especially if possession is the main cause of their plurality) as someone with Dissociative Identity Disorder. The whole trope only stigmatises the plural community further and leads to things like violence and misdiagnosis happening to us, some of which I’ve experienced firsthand. And fnaf is no stranger to the trope (baby, sun/moon)
I liked Vanny originally because of how she had a buncha serial killer vibes that we hadn't seen before in the series. I loved the idea of a fangirl who essentially tries to recreate the classic murders by hacking and stealing animatronics and old broken memorabilia. That idea was actually what started us trying to make our own Vanny suit, which we got pretty far with.
Now that we've been able to, mostly, come out of the closet, we hope to someday do a full cosplay of her

After watching this I kind of feel like ruin has elements of what steel wool wanted for the base game. Specifically, I remember hearing about a vanny meter or something. I don’t remember exactly how it worked but from what I do remember it reminds me of how mxes attacks you if you have the mask on for too long.

I’m sorry but I really really disagree with this. As well as all of your other comments. That character would hardly even be “Vanny” anymore. Nothing similar besides the costume I guess, and “girl”. Plus, it’s a shallow motivation that could easily become misogynistic, it’s even worse than William’s motive, which is practically none. And it would hardly have anything to do with the past of fazbear entertainment. (Unlike el Mimi and the Murrays) I love Vannessa/Vanny current (my fav character), I just dislike the way her story was executed. Thinking about her relationship with GGY is very interesting as well, especially now that Gregory seem to have lost his memory of those times

Most people think of Copycat!Vanny as just an obsessed Afton fangirl who becomes a killer just because she’s in love with Afton, which is indeed kinda cringe. But this can easily be fixed by making her core motive hatred for Freddy Fazbear’s, and not love for Afton. Imagine this:
Vanessa is a sweet and bright little girl who likes robotics and wants to become an engineer when she grows up. This is why she loves Freddy’s. However, one day, while playing at a Fazbear Amusement Park that had miraculously survived Freddy’s downfall, a bunch of bullies are annoying her, and pranking her. And one day, they go too far. They accidentally cause her to have an accident that involves her hitting her head and being severely injured (a great callback to Fazbear’s history of accidents involving head trauma). Or just some kind of bad experience that changes her for the worst, and makes her develop an irrational hatred of Freddy’s.
Vanessa’s resentment towards Freddy’s and the world in general grows stronger as time passes. She starts imagining destroying the company somehow. So, she starts researching about Freddy’s dark past. And that’s when learns about him. About William Afton.
She learns about the MCI, and how he corrupted the franchise by wearing a mascot costume and luring innocent children to their deaths.
Vanessa is fascinated by this. Not necessarily with Afton himself, but with what he did. She Develops and unhealthy admiration for him, and quickly starts fantasizing about doing something like what he did. But by then Fazbear Ent. is dead, so she isn’t angry enough at Fazbear Ent. So maybe she focuses more about fantasizing about meeting Afton, and might develop a crush on him. Or she can simply just admire him.
But then, Fazbear Entertainment is restarted, and starts becoming popular again…
And Vanessa can’t stand this.
Her hatred for the franchise resurfaces, and she quickly spirals down into madness, fueled not by love for Afton, but by hatred towards Freddy’s. And eventually, she snaps. And because she admires Afton, she decides she would become like him. She would be the new Fazbear Killer, making her own rabbit suit inspired by him. This takes away the cringe of her being just a fangirl, and establishes her as a real threat and intimidating villain. A deeply disturbed and mentally unstable woman who has a deep resentment towards Freddy’s. But since she remains with some of her normal personality, she has a disturbingly cheerful way of behaving, giving us an AMAZING and *terrifying* juxtaposition for her. She’s playful, but extremely violent. Her voice is soft and sweet, but says all sorts of sinister things, occasionally breaking her bright character to cackle maniacally. Just like in the trailers.

And that’s how you fix Copycat!Vanny and make her the most formidable variant of her character (at least in my opinion).
She isn’t just Afton’s Fangirl.

She’s Afton’s Heir. The Woman Behind The Slaughter. The Fazbear Killer. The Purple Woman.
And you could keep her as a “creepy obsessed fangirl” to really squeeze all the creepiness of her character. But it’s less cringy since she has her own agenda and motives, and is already as evil as Will. So you can allow her to have that sort of “guilty pleasure” without being too cringe.
Also I dislike the 180 change of their personalities.
Vanessa went from a quite scared security guard who was trying to help Gregory out. To become a KAREN in the final game.

To be frank, the "Vanessa had rainbow colored hair" thing immediately reminded me of Scrap Baby's hair. I know it's not exactly "rainbow" but I had the mental image of those colored wires shaped into pigtails and I was like... "Is William trying to 'recreate' Elizabeth ?"
I mean, she did try to carry on the "family tradition" by killing children as Baby and William did warn her to not get close to the Funtime Animatronics. If he felt any sort of affection toward someone, it seems likely to me that it will be toward her.
On top of that, I find Vanny's gesture to be very reminiscent of a little girl's, may it be her walking animation or how she appeared in Security Breach's cutscenes.
So, since Wiliam is basically brainwashing a female character (who is theorized by some to be an Afton since her last name canonically begins with "A") to be his "apprentice" of sort. I thought that he was trying to incorporate his beloved killer daughter's persona into Vannessa's mind.
That's just so fucked up and weird that I found this idea to be perfect for William. I'm not trying to say I KNOW that this what it meant, but that's how I interpretated this.
Although RUIN is an improvement compared to the og game but I'm still disappointed with what they did with Vannessa/Vanny as she only appear for one sec for one ending and had her name use as an anagram. Like the direction of the story is still wonky with some cute moments with character but it's disappointing how poorly they handle her.
oh yes… i definitely have some things to say about ruin soon hehe :-) great game- not for us vanny enjoyers though. hopefully vanessa at least gets some time to shine as a protagonist here on out

But only fleshed her in terms of recontexting Ven and Vans relationship. Like how freddy couldint see her because she was in safe mode. But can see her later because Roxys eyes are hooked up to the ai network.
Btw if I remember right Roxy can see after lossing her eyes but only the ai world.
One recontexting is that Ven likely willing put on the the security mask while glitch trap was manipulating her around and showing her a false reality like what the mimic dose.

To the characters on the FNaF Universe the games we played are indeed games to them too, and at the same time these games are telling us the real lore that happened on the FNaF Universe, the MCI, Bite of 83 and 87, Phone guy death, Charlie's death, Elizabeth's death, William to Springtrap to Scraptrap, the FFPS Fire, all of that happened.
So, the games are games but the lore was real.
yeah I think the whole point was to give Steel Wool some wiggle room on the old lore, so when something from the SW era contradicts something from the Cawthorn era, it can be played off as an unreliable narrator.
As I understood it when I first saw it, the original games depict what happened, and the VR game is smth made by Fazbear Entertainment for the purpose of idk.

as someone whose first real experience with fnaf was watching markipliers playthrough of security breach, vanny seemed completely random. i had no idea she was meant to be the main antagonist. i hadnt seen any trailers, was totally unaware of the hype, etc. i love security breach, but MAN it has a lot of problems!! vanny could have been SUCH a compelling villain.

You can tell that Vanny was one of the biggest things that was censored in regards to Security Breach.
I prefer the idea of Vanny being a normal girl before the possesion of Glitchtrap, becoming very interested in all William's murderers and slowly wanting to help him over time, going from "Im not helping you and I hate you" to "omg yes Will whatever you want". Also, the idea of Vanny and Vanessa being ex's is so perfect, I love it. They could been together for a time, but after Glitchtrap's possesion Vanny becomes obssesed with William, distancing from Vanessa.

To note, according to the books: Gregory was also under control of glitchtrap, and he was the one that hacked the pizzaplex along with helping kill other kids. The books are hella confusing though.

All they really had to do to make it more interesting is actually keep the Vanny meter and have her stalk you the whole game, and add all of her voice lines back. Most of that was finished (or at least as playable as the rest of the effing game) so they could literally have just done that. With all the patches they've made it's clearly deliberate that they've steered away for some reason.
My friends and I pitched the idea of Vanessa becoming "Deathtrap" in our own retelling of SB.
Essentially, Vanny's an absolute psychopath. More specifically, _a copycat killer._ Inspired by Freddy's and the Afton Killings, she decides that she'll do the same. Rabbit suit and all. Five kids, stuff 'em in the animatronics, how hard could it be?
The Vanny suit doesn't exist. Rather, she's building her *own* Springbonnie suit out of any scraps of *old* Springbonnie suits she can find, right down to the springlocks. No matter the condition, no matter how matted or moldy or ruined or gross, she finds old suits' parts and pieces and patches them together into a *horrible* amalgamation of a costume. She HAS to be the same as him, otherwise what's the point of going about killing?
Before SB, she finds *him.* Or at least, what's *left* of him. The suit is ruined but the ears are still salvageable. At least she can take those.
We never settled on which point she tries on the suit, or if Gregory finds her in the suit, but the point is...
...Deathtrap is a fresh corpse in a terrifying, moldy amalgamation of many, MANY Springbonnie suits. And with her dying breath, she *will* get at least *one* kill. She *will* be like him, even if it's one. Singular. Child.
i’ve kind of dropped out of the fandom after security breach, no longer keeping up with stuff after security breach came out. i was soo upset that vanny wasn’t more of a big deal because i absolutely loved her character and design- i even made myself a vanny mask at one point. but i absolutely love your take on her!! i’m personally a fan of her being manipulated by glitchtrap just because i think those kinds of characters are fun, but her willingly going along with what he tells her to do because she’s just a fan of him is also super fun

It’s honestly really weird how we’re shifting to a new era of vanny/Vanessa already. From being an antagonist to protagonist ( hell even the movie reflects this with her being one of the protagonist in that ) and it’s honestly an era that I feel like has came up WAY to quickly. While I am interested in seeing how they use her now, I am still gonna be pretty upset that she never made her full impact when she was a villain especially with all the build up she got.

I think at first up until 3 AM most of the Vanny appearances are a good setup for what the last half of the game could do for her, but instead she literally just vanishes from the plot until the ending, (only appearing in the sewers for like 5 seconds during Decommission Chica) same goes with Vanessa. I think Vanny could've been done way more justice in the story with like 2 more full scenes, maybe one with a monologue like from the trailer.

Sometimes I just have an urge to have the fandom mass-redo the lore of everything. Keep everything’s sole idea, but remove random unnecessary stuff and random unclear retcons like the “everything is a game!1!!1!1” thing. I far prefer everything from pizzeria sim and before, but I obviously also love security breach as its own thing too and am hyperfixating over the daycare attendant like everyone else, but I agree it has its issues. Never really got vanny or her appeal, she felt super out of place to me, but I do really like the whole “person idolizing someone horrible” as an idea.

It's weird to say, but I feel if they wanted to keep vanessa and vanny as seperate characters, they could make them twins, utilising the fact that the security guard (who is trying to help) and the killer bunny (need I explain what she's doing?) having the same face, and Gregory managing to get her mask off in a struggle or something could cause a pretty easy way for him to not want to work with Vanessa. Maybe Vanny as a name (along with redying her hair blonde) was done to implicate her sister to keep her from getting in her way of trying to impress her idol by killing folks. While it's a generic twist, it is something that would lend a more dynamic plot structure to SB. If I were tasked with adapting FNAF in it's entirety into a movie franchise of TV form, that's what I would do for the SB portions.
I feel like steelwool overestimated how hard it would be to fit the amount of story they *possibly* had planned SB, because obviously in thr trailers the game was entirely different - it's a shame really.
And I've been thinking about this, but when Vanny talks about "your friends are worried about you", it made me think about those disappearances that happened...and then made me realise that, those missing kids (presumably, no implied ages, but given the "afton legacy" it's most likely) were Gregory's friends which Vanny (presumably) killed, making Gregory's running away reasonable.
I think this also because at the end when you choose the routes to the endings, he mentioned how if he leaves the disappearances wont he solved , this implies that his goal this whole time (his reasonings for sneaking in after hours possiby) was to reveal this truth...
I really wish we got the "full" version, even if it was delayed another year i think i would've been happy with a more fleshed out game

Yk, Considering how the disappearances are barely mentioned in game right alongside with gregory having zero obvious motivation and them just not really explaining why hes there, makes me think this was/ is the intended story path.
Following your idea for the story, I feel like it would really work if vanny willingly put herself in an old spring-lock suit either for the finale battle or the epilogue. Just a way to tie her willingness for and idolization of springtrap (and probably continue his legacy).
Possibly she puts herself in a new suit that was meant to revitalize burntrap but was foiled or ran out of time with the full operation.
Plus, it would’ve been cool if there was some kind of foil to her. Like a Henry to William. I know the game suggests that anyone that was either suspicious or learned the truth of Vanny was likely disposed of, but I think that cheapens Vanny’s character and makes her kind of overpowered. I know William was able to delude people but even he had people working against him like Henry and Michael.

I think the main problem is that we don't actually see vanny interact with anyone apart of the pizzaplex . Not completely that she has no prior foes. Like the pizzaplex is still owned by a large corporation, whats their relation with vanny. And like you said just having the coworkers all disappear so easily seems cheap.
Like sure you can have it happen but have some drama behind it. Dont let it just be somthing that just easily happened off screen.

I like the AU side of the FNaF community because they can really resurrect lost/butchered concepts. I would have loved to see the nice Vanessa who's actually concerned for Gregory, only to have Vanny start to show through the cracks until she completely takes over. Hell, I write AUs myself and I use that as a baseline! Vanessa being a bitch is just... not something I like. She already seemed paranoid in some of the FNaF AR emails, so the idea of her knowing what could happen to Gregory if she doesn't at least try to help him makes sense. It's sad they didn't stick with it, or even playing AS Vanessa, trying to keep Vanny (a literal PART OF HERSELF) under control as she looks for a lost child. Would've been really nice.
I just wish the game told a complete story, tying up everyone's loose ends in the game
So wait- if now we know the princess quest ending was the cannon one based on ruin, Then that means in the fire ending, the Vanessa we saw on the roof *IS* a representation of her digital soul or whatever still trapped in the arcade machines. And Freddy killed her real body in the Vanny costume, possessed by glitch-trap.
Honestly that part of the animatronics being rescued sounds like what people did with the security malware breach comics, fan made sure but would make for a hell of a game if you can call the animatronics for the functions you had to give the parts to Freddy for. You still essentially earn them by beating them in their own arenas but you don't have the fact of a small 'child' knocking a heavy as hell robot into a trash compactor or the nonsense of running over Roxy. Does it have potential? Yes, but I imagine it would have taken a lot more time to make.

Personally, I enjoy your idea of Vanessa/Vanny as one of those crazy fan girls who loved the serial killers way too much! It would make more sense for her SB trailer self, trying to lure Gregory in with nice words like others might do. It could also show some of her faults with trying to be a serial killer. Perhaps her playfulness leads to her playing around with Gregory and letting him advance throughout the night. We could assume she was being childish as Vanny and that’s why she let the mini music man out. (Because otherwise that doesn’t make sense does anyone know why she let him out???) I’d love to see a follow up video with your Ruin thoughts and possibly how they could’ve worked Vanny lore into the plot! Also, do you believe the Glitchtrap virus might find a new player in Cassie after her only friend betrays her and she has nothing? (Mimic def dropped the elevator but Cassie doesn’t know that)

Instead of Burntrap, perhaps it could’ve been Bonnie molded into the image of burntrap/spring trap or whatever. That way Vanny keeps the appeal of an overzealous fan instead of a manipulate henchman

tbh future springtrap stuffz was also very missed potential, we couldve had burntrap/glitchtrap. A massive threat that corrupts everything in its way and what did we get.... peepaw afton. not that im complaining the memes are pretty funny. How is this comment 3 days old, after ALL the information that not only books revealed but Ruin too, William died in UCN, (technically after it in the frights but he basically died after ucn), Glitchtrap is the mimic1 ai, and burntrap is the Mimic, or what the mimic would have become if we didnt release Vanny in the true ending, burntrap never existed, its just a comic gregory drew.
Well, now we got the Mimic (An character that appears in the books which mostly only the diehard fans buy and he got an bad introduction in Ruin, he's just there he basically got the introduction Burntrap had)

The difference with the office is that the other endings in security breach are canonically just comics that gregory drew, also we literally go through the part where Burntrap should be, the part where we burn him and he isnt there, only the mimic is

Awesome video! Really loved the reimagination of Vanny. The idea that they're two different people can be even played a little by Vanny having rainbow streaks and Vannesa not, as in, Vanny was impersonating her but when we end up seeing her she has different hair ??0: what?!?!

I would have loved her to be a copy cat killer or a copy bunny killer. I am gonna be upset that the mimic replaced her as the new big villain for Fnaf but that's hope she be in help wanted 2 :D
I enjoyed this video! It was fun! I love Vanny as a character and was absolutely heartbroken that she was almost entirely dropped out of the game. But I can say that the ending where Vanessa is saved is the true ending and can take some solace in the fact that while Vanessa is free, a piece of Vanny will always still linger on in the world!
Better have Vanny be Vanessa’s step sister that actually had the troubled childhood in the tapes.

Oh yeah. Every time I rewatch the Security Breach trailers my hatred towards the game grows. Vanny had SO MUCH potential no matter what path they chose to go down, but they chose to do nothing with her. And they fact they chose to abandon her in favor of Mimic in Ruin is just salt on the wound.
Great video all the same. The only critique I have is that sometimes the music got a little too loud and conflicted with your voice. Aside from that, good job.

This was a very cool and interesting video. It is a shame that Vanny had been very inconsistent, or/and underused. There are way too many contradictions about who vanny is or even looks like, and while I can’t imagine a way to fix the characters flaws in the current cannon, I really enjoyed your creative reimagining of her.
