One of the greatest camping shots on you tube--frontal frame through the blowing snow and through the campfire with the tarp and tent in the background and all this framing your smiling face. I had missed this previously--one of my goals, to camp in the snow. The rugged beauty of New Zealand shines forth gorgeously.
Oh my gosh, yes! When you put it like that it reminds me how lucky I was that it all fell into place and I scored such a fantastic spot and experience. I LOVED this!
Oh my gosh, Yes! Camping in winter with a dog who feels the cold and when you want to be cosy and comfortable yourself, is a recipe for a monsterous load. I have a bivvy bag now and summer is approaching, so I will have to do some light weight trips. My body will appreciate it for sure.

It looked like the perfect camp for you :) Greg and I really appreciate you taking the time to film your trips. It's really relaxing and therapeutic for us. We went on a holiday to New Zealand in 2019 for the 1st time and we stayed in Queenstown. I cried on the last day we were there because I knew I wouldn't be able to get back there for a long time. We still haven't been able to get back there because of inflation and price of living. I hope one day I can go back and maybe cross paths in the mountains with you :) 🌺😃

Hi great video also got a fire Maple what you can do. You can get gas canister, legs that fits on the bottom of the canister itself that makes it more stable and uneven ground .Keep on making great videos.

Thank you. Yes I am looking forward to some spring and summer camps. The change in weather brings new opportunities, and the longer daylight hours help a lot with camping and filming.
Here’s a recipe you might like. Heat diced chicken in peri peri spices and olive oil. Throw in any stir fry and when you feel it’s time, cook it until stir fry is wilted. Toast some ciabatta and serve the chicken and stir fry on top. Drizzle some Nando’s sauce to your liking. Magnifico. 😉 Simple but effective.

I really enjoy watching your videos. Especially the car camping one. Although the snow camp was amazing! You can get a base stabiliser for the hikers to e you have. It’s the same as the Campmasyer hikers stove that Kmart sells. I have one. 😊💞

I have a Great Pyrenees and a Merrema Sheep dog, both LGD's. They are mostly business, unless they want petted. Throw them a treat and it will bounce off their face. 😂 Give them a command and they look at you as if to say "yeah right ".

OMG so much to comment. (sorry I tend to be windy) First - I just love the edit. You show what I love to see. The set up, the tear down...the BS parts. You show the reality of being semi alone in overwhelming beauty. Just breathing it in. I just had a similar trip in the Sierra for a few nights. Completely alone at 11500 ft and views to die for. My first tarp camping trip. My puppies would have been nice but boxers aren't skilled hiker dogs like yours...they're just pretty. You've quickly become the backpacker I'd like most to have a lunch with. You have a special something...No clue. I was asking my wife whats the difference in woman - that there are some like my wife that go along and enjoy adventures like these. Big ones. Like everyone they walk through the various fears and enjoy themselves - Vs - a woman that plans and goes on her own adventures. Or hikes with a few other woman. Its everywhere in the eastern Sierra where I frequent. I stop and enjoy trail conversations but seem to fail to ask the question that always follows the conversation. The ladies I'm speaking of have been hiking for many years. They rarely have a significant other with them. If you crossed them at the grocery store you would laugh at the thought of running into them at dusk heading up a steep mountain trail. Yet I see them on every trip. There seems to be a magic bean in some of these woman that I see less of in men. The great physicist Richard Feynman owed most of his brilliance to hard work and two fabulously curious an wonderful parents. I wonder if you have spoken as to how you became the person you are. What is behind your adventurous, seemingly confident and fearless nature. The difference between you and the rest so to speak. By all means feel free to speak for ALL woman. I have no boundaries for sure. Forgive me if you're not up to that conversation. It is only you and I here right? Thanks for the great video. peace all. PS: I'm obsessed with replacing all your gear with lighter weight options (on your dime of course). I just know I could dump 25 lbs without thinking hard or losing any performance. I'm guessing you spend no time or energy on that. It's a problem I have.
Thanks Ned Another, I enjoyed your (windy) reflections and questions. Firstly on the point about the edit, thank you so much. This is actually just what I need to hear as is what I am trying to improve on, my ability to (accurately) convey a story that others will enjoy hearing/watching, that takes the viewer through the sights, sound and emotions of the experience. In terms of that 'magic bean'... hmmm, I am not sure, but I think Feynman had a point when he identified curious and wonderful parents and a good dose of hard work. I have adventurous parents who taught me to feel strong and capable in my mind and body. And then there is hard work, I am eternally curious about myself and what I am capable of.. On the idea of lightening my gear, lol if only it wasn't on my dime I would take you up on that. He he, it really does come down to cost. I try to use everything I already have and not buy new unless I absolutely must. I am always weighing up (pardon the pun), the cost vs the waste vs the weight and stress on my body vs comfort, etc. Generally in life I am a bit of a 'make doer'. A good example is Indi's sleeping bag, why buy a dog bag and mat (which would be much smaller and lighter) when I have a perfectly good person mat and sleeping bag, that is heavier? Well, yes, there are pros and cons. Have a great day, Cathy

Yes, absolutely. My day job is not typically very static, I'm moving around quite a bit, but my room is windowless and so come the weekend I am craving my nature fix for sure.
I am 70 years old and still enjoy hiking and camping solo in the mountains of Colorado. The body sure will do more than you think it can!

Here’s a recipe you might like.
Heat diced chicken in peri peri spices and olive oil. Throw in any stir fry and when you feel it’s time, cook it until stir fry is wilted. Toast some ciabatta and serve the chicken and stir fry on top. Drizzle some Nando’s sauce to your liking. Magnifico. 😉

Solo hiking and camping is something I would love to do, but don’t have the confidence.
I’m in New Zealand. Of all the places in the world to solo camp this is probably one of the best, no predators, and lots of great places to explore.

You can get a base stabiliser for the hikers to e you have. It’s the same as the Campmasyer hikers stove that Kmart sells. I have one. 😊💞

I have a Great Pyrenees and a Merrema Sheep dog, both LGD's. They are mostly business, unless they want petted. Throw them a treat and it will bounce off their face. 😂 Give them a command and they look at you as if to say "yeah right ".

I completely agree. No, not much in the way of wildlife to encounter here in New Zealand. I am guessing the two mice that took refuge in my camp seat overnight on my latest camp don't count (lol).

OMG so much to comment. (sorry I tend to be windy) First - I just love the edit. You show what I love to see. The set up, the tear down...the BS parts. You show the reality of being semi alone in overwhelming beauty. Just breathing it in. I just had a similar trip in the Sierra for a few nights. Completely alone at 11500 ft and views to die for. My first tarp camping trip. My puppies would have been nice but boxers aren't skilled hiker dogs like yours...they're just pretty.
You've quickly become the backpacker I'd like most to have a lunch with. You have a special something...No clue. I was asking my wife whats the difference in woman - that there are some like my wife that go along and enjoy adventures like these. Big ones. Like everyone they walk through the various fears and enjoy themselves - Vs - a woman that plans and goes on her own adventures. Or hikes with a few other woman. Its everywhere in the eastern Sierra where I frequent. I stop and enjoy trail conversations but seem to fail to ask the question that always follows the conversation. The ladies I'm speaking of have been hiking for many years. They rarely have a significant other with them. If you crossed them at the grocery store you would laugh at the thought of running into them at dusk heading up a steep mountain trail. Yet I see them on every trip. There seems to be a magic bean in some of these woman that I see less of in men.
The great physicist Richard Feynman owed most of his brilliance to hard work and two fabulously curious an wonderful parents.
I wonder if you have spoken as to how you became the person you are. What is behind your adventurous, seemingly confident and fearless nature. The difference between you and the rest so to speak. By all means feel free to speak for ALL woman. I have no boundaries for sure. Forgive me if you're not up to that conversation. It is only you and I here right?

PS: I'm obsessed with replacing all your gear with lighter weight options (on your dime of course). I just know I could dump 25 lbs without thinking hard or losing any performance. I'm guessing you spend no time or energy on that. It's a problem I have.
Thanks Ned Another, I enjoyed your (windy) reflections and questions. Firstly on the point about the edit, thank you so much. This is actually just what I need to hear as is what I am trying to improve on, my ability to (accurately) convey a story that others will enjoy hearing/watching, that takes the viewer through the sights, sound and emotions of the experience. In terms of that 'magic bean'... hmmm, I am not sure, but I think Feynman had a point when he identified curious and wonderful parents and a good dose of hard work. I have adventurous parents who taught me to feel strong and capable in my mind and body. And then there is hard work, I am eternally curious about myself and what I am capable of.. On the idea of lightening my gear, lol if only it wasn't on my dime I would take you up on that. He he, it really does come down to cost. I try to use everything I already have and not buy new unless I absolutely must. I am always weighing up (pardon the pun), the cost vs the waste vs the weight and stress on my body vs comfort, etc. Generally in life I am a bit of a 'make doer'. A good example is Indi's sleeping bag, why buy a dog bag and mat (which would be much smaller and lighter) when I have a perfectly good person mat and sleeping bag, that is heavier? Well, yes, there are pros and cons. Have a great day, Cathy

Yes, absolutely. My day job is not typically very static, I'm moving around quite a bit, but my room is windowless and so come the weekend I am craving my nature fix for sure.
