I cover my floors with newspaper. It's easy to roll up and dispose of if it's soiled. If they do do anything where they shouldn't. a good carpet/upholstery cleaner applied straight away sorts it all out. Obviously, you don't leave them alone anywhere, and you keep an eye on them. Otherwise, they'd chew up the whole house. My bird knows the rooms where he can't get on the floor. He knows where he is not to go on shelves, and while he tries, I only have to tell him to get off, and he obeys. You can't keep a bird and have a pristine house. That's unrealistic. I'm prepared to live with the mess.

Her wee- wee smells of fresh flower meadows....but it stains bright orange... So we're all on Amber alert all day !! Haha, lots of Baby changing mats...vet pads, kitchen Roll , spray etc...but we manage and she really appreciates it and likes things clean....and all her little poops go in2 the garden compost to help the flowers grow...I'm sure your bird appreciates all the unconditional Love you give xx

I try to get him out of the cage for at least a few minutes every day, but I can't always. he will have a fly, come to me for a scratch, but gets really bitey at the same time, then can't stand it any longer and climbs back into his cage. He will sit on a perch for a few hours at night, but as soon as there is light enough, back he goes to his "eggs". He would have made a wonderful father. I wish his life could have been natural and normal. I inherited him and another (who died several years ago). Both were strays. One flew in the window of a tall building, and this one landed on someone's shoulder after being chased by crows. I never wanted more pets, but in one year ended up with a blind cat and two cockatiels. LOL I once had a little rabbit, but they are mostly illegal here as they are vermin and destroy the countryside. In that state you could keep one, but it had to be in a cage with a floor, and a long list of requirements. It never liked me, and it bit me all the time. I had to return it to the person who gave it to me. But it was a beautiful little thing. :)
