@@claytonsommerer Just tossing around pipedreams huh? Not even an engine certified for use in TNGA-F, like the V35A-FTS twin turbo V6. Tundra deserves that more than any Tacoma, if B58 was even certified for TNGA-F. It's all about production feasibility here, otherwise let's toss in the old 1GZ V12 or a V10 from the LFA and pair a 7-speed manual to it...
Hands down a top seller, soo many people have been waiting for this. I’d love to see a lowered version of the Tundra similar to how the older F150 lightning was.
Waste of money (Tundra), let them push this one through first. Tundra isn't appealing enough and would drag this Tacoma special down with it fiscally. Tundra TRD PRO was once going to get a hardened version of the upcoming Lexus TTV8, but it got kept out of the TNGA-F in favor of the i-ForceMax V35A.
Well me being an X owner I would love to see it come out. I’m upset they didn’t offer a turbo motor and bigger brakes in my X. I had to add those myself 😂.
Beautiful, in Radiant Red? This one made me get into Tacomas back in early 2004, because I didn't really acknowledge Toyota 4x4s outside of the Land Cruiser & 4Runner in the late 90s/early 2000s. The February 4, 2004 at Chicago '04 press presentation of the all-new Speedway Blue paint job on a monochrome scheme and aero package had me smitten, like I was by the Ram SRT-10 (had just gone on sale in February 2004). I never got an X-Runner, but did get a Tacoma 4WD with a stick nonetheless. It's too bad most of the X-Runners have been trashed out by their 2nd or 3/4/5/6th owners. This concept will bring back great memories and I really hope, this will come to market by 2026. That's how long it takes from concept to market, on a high performance trim level. 30 to 36 months. Let's hope it happens and much faster than industry standards. If they can complete the business case by spring and have it out in 18 months by late 2025, that would be great.
Wow, putting the Tundra engine into a Tacoma 😳. The last time Toyota did such a thing was back in the mid-2000s when toyota gave the 4Runner the Tundra 4.7 v8 engine and that 4Runner was one of the most fun 4Runner ever built.
That wasn't a production vehicle, but we hoped it would be. I was in love with that Tacoma V8 Incross Concept! Matte Green IIRC. Problem is, the UZ V8 was being retired in 2009 and Toyota refused to adapt the later Tacomas for the UR V8, while the Lexus GX was redesigned with it in mind and 4Runner locked out of it. I'm tempted to buy a 2011 Tacoma and convert it into that concept, with V8 swap.
I feel there's too much time involved and not enough of a business case for it. This is just a concept barely started in May or June.We won't see it for at least 2.5 to 3 years, IF it even gets approved. I want this, because the X-Runner made me get interested in Tacomas as a teen. Before that, I didn't care much about the 1st gen. S-Runner had that boring old ass beige interior and wasn't notably different from the regular 4x2 XtraCab. This one and the SRT-10, made an impact as specialty trucks. I hoped the 3rd gen would get the same X-Runner treatment, but permanently got killed off. A powerful TTV6 mated to 6MT, would get me into one of these ASAP. I feel $50-60k is reasonable in 2026, since it will have less utility and only two seats unlike Trailhunter and PRO Double Cabs, so it shouldn't cost more than they do. Only problem is the rare manual combo with TTV6, needing economies of scale. Might be more like $65-70k, for rarity.
I have an 07' Speedway Blue Xrunner I turbocharged the factory 4.0L. Huge group of Xrunner owners on here would love this concept to come to fruition. Do a limited run even. Every single one will sell fast
TOYOTA, please build the new "2024 Tacoma X-RUNNER"! Give people the options to include the lower body kit or not, those carbon fiber wheels or not, but definitely with the 3.4 liter twin-turbo V-6 from the TUNDRA. I will buy one, because I really want one, keep it at around $50 grand in base price and I promise you that I will buy it!!! Automatic is okay too. Years ago, I had the S-Runner with the 3.4 V-6 and I loved that truck.
So sick, needs AWD though that would be amazing, I would keep my tundra and buy one of these to sit beside it and my Ducati use it to track on weekends!
In 2008 I had the X runner and I absolutely loved it but unfortunately I had to sell it. I really hope this concept makes it a reality. ❤️ I wonder how much it will be?? Please make it a manual as well and not paddle shifters.
There are some things I would critique on the new Xrunner like steering wheel is too bulky (make it like the supra), the rear bumper needs a rear valance, rear window needs to be able to come down, and the mirrors need side markers on them.
Please tell me it will still have a manual transmission too...don't let me a grown man down...can't a man dream💦....my 2008 BSP X-Runner still gets looks🤙🏽🔥🔥🔥#3Pedels
@@88supra719 I know buddy, im just saying because this truck looks like something takuaches will do to their silverados while the first X-runner's look exactly how a sport truck would look like.
Build a variety of cars. Toyotatoyota may not be looking at these posts love you too and people's opinions but they should. I know sometimes budget and money. Keep matters but build different kind of cars for different people. Different generations. Different cars up raised up raised down lowered. Fast slow built all different kind of cars and truck and vehicles. The reason you are the number one car manufacturer in the world. It's because of variety. Build different vehicles. Engines components make everything different, but make it for everyone could drive. Not just one country and every country could drive it. Don't be alienating the USI just make it where other people could drive it and not no one else. Variety how you gonna maintain up your readin this. But they should think about for customers and not themselves
Forget slamming or doing a manual the Tacoma needs the V6TT and Tundra needs the 5.0 V8 as options for the realistic 99.9% street driving. So tired of the overdone offroad models.
Give it a rest, it's not happening for obvious reasons. There's no Dynamic Force V8 designed for this platform. The Tacoma was designed for the TTV6, but purposely omitted to protect the Tundra. Sheldon Brown and many insiders said more than enough about it. Stop asking for a V8, as the turnaround time to getting it done will be too long and zero business case. The 5.0 2UR-FSE is NOT designed for truck use, only some of the 4.6L and 5.7L V8s were, which are out of production now. The Tundra is irrelevant, when it already gets the most powerful V6 Toyota offers. Tacoma is only one, missing a hotter engine that exists at Toyota. Only a GR or X-Runner Tacoma deserves special treatment, not a run of the mill the TRD PRO which will already be expensive. Y'all and these pipedreams lol.
Hopefully it's priced really reasonable. The least expensive truck Toyota makes. Trucks like this used to be popular to the sub 22 year old. Vehicles are getting to much tech and too expensive for young people to buy. Just make a bare bones truck; manual windows, manual seats, manual transmission, outstanding gas mileage, so young people can afford, and enjoy a truck. This would also be a good option for adults to use as a daily driver, run to hardware stores, and carry light things for recreation.
You guys keep asking for these basic trucks, knowing full well there's no business case for it anymore, as only a few of you will buy it and use it to proclaim how unique you are as luddite drivers. It is expensive to manufacture (ie) manual window vehicles that only a few will opt for. EPA has made it impossible to sell a heavy weight, small cabin volume such as a 2-seater, 2-door pickup without higher MPGs. It's why Regular Cabs are gone, because only fullsize trucks can skirt by in being larger than compact/midsize trucks. An XtraCab with a bench shelf is what gets sold as a compromise. Base Tacomas cost inline with what a brand new 2005 Tacoma Access Cab 2WD Auto cost in November 2004. The real worry is how expensive the new 2024 will be. No one wants base, poverty spec manuals anymore. Only enthusiasts want them in well equipped vehicles.
Please make it to production with the manual transmission! I'll be able to buy one!!!!!!!
OMG, yes. I don't think
we would see this before spring 2026 though, as it would take almost 3 years from scratch to release.
Hope it happens anyway.
And the b58! Just swap the entire Supra drivetrain with a shorter rear gear
@@claytonsommerer Just tossing around pipedreams huh?
