    It killed me when you said “I didn’t google anything random today” 🤣🤣🤣 I have a million tabs open from random topics I wanted to research and never finished reading about before I moved onto the next tab! I’m so excited to start medication!

      Me too! Omg I always wondered if other people do it. That is literally my biggest time waster. Topic pops- leads me to a rabbit whole of me googling and diving deep- get distracted with another thought- than googling that as well- than going back to what I’m supposed to be doing- then after a couple of hours remembering I never found out the answer for question 1 because I got distracted with another topic- than the cycle goes on and on.

    My doctor reccomended skipping a day to avoid a resistance build up in your system. He said to pick your least busy day and if you end up having to move house that day or something that's fine take it but if you're not busy that day just skip it.

    This is so wild, I have adhd C (combined), and I've always been quite calm and quiet, cuz I can't express myself due to the complete chaos thats going on in my brain. But on meds, I can think one thing at a time, and find the right "drawers" to open instead of playing memory with my thoughts and ideas and always losing. So on meds, I am more bubbly, awake and alive than when not on meds. Not hyperactive or anything, but happier, which makes me more bubbly and excited. Idk if that makes sense 😂

    Today is my day one. Yesterday I found your videos as I was very nervous for today. I was looking for someone who's been through it and came across your videos. Thank you for posting these! I felt like I could understand you almost 97% like we are the same. I was diagnosed in 2000 officially but the adhd results of the learning disability test didn't come to me until this week when I was retested as I'm at my rock bottom with my brain. Well the same person tested me both times and she asked what medication am I on for my adhd. I said what are you talking about. Well here I am this week now on day one. My biggest fear is loosing myself or I won't know how to deal with the new things going on in my head. Fear of the unknown. I'm in my early 40s and I know I can't change the past but I wish I would have known I wouldn't have struggled as much as I have and I have always dreamed of being more then I became and maybe this will bring a little bit of my hope back. Thank you for your honesty 🙏❤

Jobs/careers, activities, vitamins, yoga, meditation, todo apps, lists, etc etc. And still feel like I’m in a rut in terms of my potential. Hope to have an official evaluation soon. Fingers crossed. Good luck and I hope you found something that works!

    Thank you for being brave enough to share. Every symptom you described in part one I related to, I was recently diagnosed with ADHD. Sadly I can look back over all of my adult life and now I understand why I struggled with staying on tasks in every area of my life. The only time I am able to complete large task is to hyper focus. My doctor has prescribed a non-controlled medication, but I haven’t started the medication. I’m extremely hesitant to take medication, for fear of being dependent.

    What realising that I (as a man in his 60s) have ADHD has brought me is an insight into how other people think, and why they don't keep up with my train of thought. To be frank, many people have seemed to me to be very slow on the uptake, sometimes to the point that I've thought they're really just not very bright. Now, I realise they just don't make the same leaps "intuitively" (actually just by absorbing extra details - it's not really intuitive).

  • @Jon55034
    @Jon55034 2 роки тому +6

    Another approach would be to not try to fit in the box where you naturally don't fit in. ADHD is perfectly natural and millions of people have been throughout humanity. You have qualities others don't have, so I wouldn't chase that normal office job on medication what would be too boring and unsuitable without medication. But get a career which is suitable for people with ADHD even without medication.

      I think a job where you don't have to deal with a high amount of detailed work and where you have to use your working memory all the time. preferably some jobs that give you some space and time to fix your tasks. Maybe you could google some more. Also there are a ton of ADD/ADHD successful people who became this probably without taking all kind of meds.

    I just started my meds a couple days ago and i had a very similar experience. When i took the meds, i expected like a caffiene rush of energy. But when the meds kicked in, i felt very calm and relaxed and my mind wasnt racing and i didnt need to google why im feeling that way or google random things. I was able to engage in conversation with my wife and things i hated doing like chores, i was just ok with doing. It felt very strange and i find myself sometimes just sitting there and thinking about it, i felt very normal but i was just ok with everything. And the dry mouth was serious, i drank more water that day than ive ever had.

    I am in sales... and sometimes I get so excited about the my job that I have to take a deap breath and try and slow down cos my excitement shows... If I have to speak, my thought are everywhere... And I struggle to get a clear concise point across. Also I will be busy with work, then see a dirty toilet and start cleaning it when I have to be ticking things off my list for work... 😂My son 12... Has recently gone onto Contramyl XR. Apparently the Adhd is hereditary... Why was I never tested when I was going through school...? I took one of his pills today to see what he will be going through (it's the lowest dosage) and I feel more level in my head. And I'm making jokes. I'm 40 now... This would definitely benefit my ability to work more steadily. Thank you for these videos 🌺🌺🌺happy woman's day from South Africa 🇿🇦

    I usually have to have something on UA-cam playing on my dash when I drive by myself (I know.. I know.. it’s bad.. but let me explain). My phone had died at work and I didn’t have my car charger with me. So it was just me and my thoughts and the radio. But I was thinking so hard about so many things at once that I actually blocked out the radio and wasn’t using my eyes. I almost got in a T-bone collision due to me missing a red light. Man I tell ya.. this is some crazy stuff.. I have been unmedicated for like 20 years and am ready for some change.
    I’m waiting on an appointment with Done.

    Oh girl, I couldn’t take that😔🥺😭😭😭 nauseous is absolutely the worst feeling in the world to me !
    And I am a talk your head off ADD human . Switch from random to random conversations. I have SO many auto immune issues.
    So I am very curious what they will start me on. I have thyroid disease, IBS , Gastritis, hypothyroidism, migraines , chronic Lyme disease,and my headaches make me nauseas . So I most definitely can’t have a daily medication that makes me nauseous that in and of itself would make me depressed girl!
    I’m glad it works for you . I have to wait 3-4 more weeks to be given my actual ADD testing 😭😭😭😭
    My heart scan came out great. So now just waiting to get tested. Everyone who knows me .. definitely knows I have had this all my life it is just now coming out with a huge BANG with my hormones too at age 47😢🥺

      Hey! Thank you for watching my videos. As of now, it is been four months since I’ve started the medication. In the first few weeks I found that it was better to eat before taking the medication. Also taking in a lot of fluids helps as well.
      Since it’s been so much time, I think my body has gotten used to the medication, and sometimes I don’t eat until an hour later after taking the medication. I hope this helps!

  • @kateboo4013
    @kateboo4013 2 роки тому +2

    I just dropped my medication... I just couldn't take the downside, and although I was more focused and less distracted specially when I changed tasks... but I would get a huge crash in the afternoon, then a feeling that life doesn't really matter or is of any interest to me... Nausea, dizzy, dry mouth and eyes, apathy, irritability, headache, difficult falling asleep... Then I would just wake up at 5 am.... Why?
    I am now taking L-tryrosin to raise my dopamin, plus Rhodiola, holy basil and Valerian to calm down anxiety.
    With medication I was flat.... I couldn't even feel pleasure in listening to music and dance.... This was the saddest thing to me: just destroyed my pleasure for dancing 😨
    I hope to get it back soon 🙏

    I was diagnosed 2 months ago with ADHD combined. It was a total shock because I knew I had anxiety and depressed and something else but I never thought of ADHD! My psychiatrist just knew after our first session and diagnosed me with it after the next one. It felt amazing to know that there is a REASON I struggle so hard with things that other people make look effortless.
    I started off on Adderall. Everything in my brain stops, then I don’t have any intruding thoughts it’s just whatever I’m doing at the moment is what I’m thinking about which is WEIRD. I overall have better focus, but I still find it hard to focus on things that really stress me out like my school work. It’s hard to explain but it gives me a general focus but I need to really be able to focus and absorb the information in my college classes. (I dropped out of college in 2014 but I came back during COVID and that’s how I found out I have ADHD )
    Anyways I been doing research and asked my doctor if when my Adderall runs out if I can try Concerta and compare it and see which one works better for me. I’m only at 30 seconds on your video but I watched the entire part 1 and when you said is this how people feel all the time really got me… and the no random music lyrics playing in your head cuz girl that is me daily xD but maybe not so much while the Adderall is kicked in but I haven’t noticed. Anyways thank you so much for sharing your journey, I was watching videos about different ADHD medications and the best ones to use for your situation and I think Concerta sounded the best for me so I really enjoyed watching your video and will check out your others on ADHD after I finish this :) sorry long and rambled comment

      Eating before for me made me feel a little less sick in the beginning stages while taking the medication. But I did find even when I made sure I was eating I would get waves of nausea periodically. I think it just takes time for your body to get acclimated to the medication. It is also figuring out what works for you, sometimes people switch meds because the side effects are too much for them.
