Space Engineers is a voxel-based sandbox game set in space and on planets, developed and published by Czech independent developer Keen Software House. In 2013, the initial developmental release of the game joined the Steam early access program. During the following years of active development, Space Engineers sold over one million units. In total as of 2019 the game has sold over 3.5 million copies In May 2015, for approximately a year and a half, the game's source code was officially available and maintained by KSH to assist the modding community. On December 15, 2016, the game entered Beta and was later officially released on February 28, 2019.
The game is a sandbox game about engineering, construction, exploration and survival in space and on planets. Players build space ships, space stations, planetary outposts of various sizes and uses, pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive.

Title: The UNSTOPPABLE SPEED of the Hovercraft - Space Engineers
My Last Video: 3 MASSIVE updates are COMING SOON™ to Space Engineers
#SpaceEngineers #Warfare #Update - Ігри
Well now I’m going to scare my friends with a large grid version of this…
How did it go?
sus
Imagine seeing a wheelless jet engine powered thingamabob several times bigger than you jump over a mountain. That would be like seeing a proppelerless plane at the start of WWII.
Counterpoint.
Rovers are cool.
And also, a genuine one, I really enjoy the pathing, and mapping out safe driving routes for my rovers, even if they're longer. It really makes me feel like I'm setting down roots on a planet to plant little beacons along a trail that's safe to drive, marking it out.
I really like rovers, I said that at the beginning of the video. I just wish they were a bit better, that's all.
@@Zer0sLegion Oh yeah, not tryna say y'all were hating on them, I was just making a joke XD
They could be much better yeah
Thing that deters me from rovers is that they're slow. If you want to make a fast rover, you'll end up with crashed rover almost for sure. (-: I really liked the design of roveres from the Lost Colony scenario, but once I ramped up the speed, it crashed on the next slope.
I'm ok with slow rovers. I just with there was a way to get them to carry more weight. I'd use rovers for haulage and flight for speed. Looks like I'm going to have to try to build a hover hauler
@@shadyone6620 I have this problem too. I tried to build a super fast rover design by making basically a wide-bodied car. Worked great up to 45km/s, but after 50 or so, it had a tendency to roll. I've yet to find a good answer to this, since even braking from high speeds rolls it, but I'm determined to make one
Rovers for very early game when their lower material cost and amazingly good power efficiency matters, hovercraft after. Also you can stylize the wheel legs as "hover engines" for extra aesthetic points while maintaining ground clearance and putting near the edges to serve as bumpers
Yeah, I've seen a few designs that do that.
I use ion thrusters for everything
@@seno7904 but those don't work in atmosphere
I do hovercraft first for my respawn pod lol, use it to fly to a high ore location then build a base there.
Basically i just remove all non essentials and just add vertical lift fans and use it like a helocopter and tilt to move and slow down lol.
@@Nazobypass yeah they do. Not well, but they do. With enough of them you can lift off from earth.
It’s worth mentioning that the issues with speed and rovers is that a fast rover with high or uncapped speed is WILDLY unstable with suspension interactions, whereas all hovercrafts have functionally uncapped speed with almost no consistency issues. ONE tip: wheel impacts do disproportionately try to fling you towards the “normal” bottom of the suspensions, so that’s why it gets some weird rolls sometimes.
This would be so so good on Europa or titan with the large expanses of flat icy terrain
Titan’s my favorite celestial body, and this is how I travel most often :)
These are amazing! I usually try not to cheese things in SE, but I'm going to definitely make a hovercraft!
Hope you enjoy!
Now here's a great idea: make a Rover with the wheels attached by merge blocks and hinges, so you can detach the merge blocks and rotate the wheels down to become a hovercraft. Best of both worlds!
That would be cool
Sliders are really cool for early game. They are easy to build and can go alot of places. Just make sure when you have the resources to add thrusters in all directions. Also this is for anyone that is ok with mods in game and the gold for grav comp's, then use the Hover Engine mod as its a huge step over the slider method. Now if you prefer vanilla only and no mods then use JTurp's hover script and all thruster build. Anyways just wanted to add that for those that might not know about those methods for a hover craft. Also big congrat's on hitting 20k subs Zer0 you absolutely deserve it.
Wish I knew about this earlier. I spawned in an incredibly rough, mountainous and snowy area with barely any resources around (basically I built everything out of resources from refined stone, disassembled unknown signals and the starter pod) and spent like 5 hours trying to drive a rover to a flat spot with a lake (which was 10km away from my spawn location) where I could make a base. My rover was basically my mobile station. There was lots of saving and loading after exploding etc, as the rover was all I had.
Oh yea, I also had a trailer attached to the rover with connectors and hinges. It had a hydrogen generator which I had to periodically fill up as my 2 solar panels weren't enough for constant driving. Extra challenge to get down this chain of mountains due to another physical object lol.
Eventually I found a way through the mountain. Snow was much less rouvh than grass, so I tried to stick with the snow area as much as I could until I found a not so steep drive downwards.
"This hovercraft is the best way to travel on planet surfaces"
Ekranoplans: Am I a joke to you?
Video idea that won't actually ever be made but that I would find enjoyable: "Zer0 attempts to build a G-Drive railguns meta brick ship and then fights other meta bricks with it."
You're correct, I like to have fun playing the game
@Zer0's Legion If not doing that is fun for you that's great and we can all enjoy the game how we want.
I find doing this heaps of fun, so I do it!
After all, fun is subjective.
(I still want to see a video about/showcasing meta ships someday)
2 things worth mentioning: to climb an incline the hovercraft needs enough trust to beat gravity, the steeper the incline the more thrust needed and a rover can also get thrusters added to it for a similar result.
One of my favorite builds going is a skimmer using this principle. I use a flat terrain planet. Get this thing up to speed, turn off thrusters and it just keeps going. Fun stuff.
with the flight(move) blocks in the beta that is currently out right now, you could put some down thrusters on the top of the hovercraft and tell the thrusters to maintain a minimum altitude of whatever as well as to align with P-gravity, which would prevent the springiness and random flipping the craft seems to experience.
Yes, I would like to see the hover craft with unlimited speed on!
The stupidest "hovercraft" design I ever had made is the Jet Crab. 6 weels, two modded jet engines, and all the blocks to make it function/drivable. It got up to 300 m/s in about 5 or so seconds.
Right bumper and x, finally thank you
9:28 [lands on an ice lake] "...and here we are! Flat land!"
Yes, "land". :P
😂
I was laughing out loud when the tree klanged
Definitely going to try this now
I been working on a hoverbike. Same design but with the 1x1 wheels and set them to full steering override. Designing it to use hydrogen thrusters with the idea that if i want, it can just throw on the down thruster and take it off as a flying bike. Possibly even fly it into space. With the assumption that the ejector will become the 1x1 connector, fueling it shouldn't be too hard. Original version has an o2/h2 generator but i would love to slim it down a bit.
I'm waiting for the update as we know we're getting a bike cockpit and I have a feeling we're going to get 2x2 wheels as well.
@@Zer0sLegion 2x2 wheels? That would be interesting. And yeah, the bike cockpit is nice looking but sometimes you want to sit back in the small grid control seat.
i never thought of this, this is genius! im definetly gonna give this a try!
Its actually a great way to make my normally unmovable and heavy rovers to actually be able to climb hills effectively
Maybe I should make a hovercraft mobile base
I definitely will be experimenting with this... thanks!
Love it. Gonna arm that workshop model up
I've been working on a drone mech hovercraft hybrid and I was so ready to finish it when the grid A.I update released this year but I'll have to wait to finalize the design because of the delay.
It's good to know that the Developers are delaying the update to fix some issues unlike so many other E3 developers that release half assed content.
Space Engineers Woop Woop :)
The hovercraft is now a Spaceship.
Yes
I always make my rovers with no speed limit and full power. I have a little truck that I drive around at over 90m/s. It is risky going that fast but fun to fight aircraft while chasing them.
I was just thinking about trying to make one of those bayou fan boats to cruise around the ice where I landed. I forgot about this wheel trick, this is great and I'm gonna try it. FIrst place I learned about this was the NPC transports in Escape from Mars.
Landcarrier hover craft.
Coming right up!
So this is how they built the nomad in no mans sky...
Ps. Congratulations on inventing the repulsor lift.
This is so cool!
On survival, i built a verticle piston with a rotor on it to build small grid off my large grid base. As i build my creation i just use the piston to raise it to get under, then since it was early game on on my main landing pad, i wpuld ise the rptor to move it pur of the way if needed.
Nice video! Thanks for using my hovercraft for it.
Thanks for making it!
I’ll be using it NOW
Congrats on 20k!
🎉
you was impressed at hitting 20k on christmas... not youre nearly at 25k in less than 4 months. congrats man
subbed
Would have been sooner if I actually uploaded in that period lol 😅
But thank you!
@@Zer0sLegion think about what you just said bro, you still gained a %20+ increase in subs just with older content alone, that should show youre doing something right lad. So congratulations man keep it up you’re laying solid ground for yourself
hell yea, I will definitely use this. congrats on 20k subs 🙂
Thank you 🙌
OOh you gave me a cool idea for making a Water Strider/Pond Skater bug/spider like craft
Oh hell yea i'll be doing hovercrafts from now on for sure xD
saw this for a mars mobile base hovercraft design as bp on the workshop
I should upgrade my land transport to a hovercraft, the damned thing is super heavy and quite well armed.
Hope you have a good Christmas dude
Thanks!
I love knowing that I'm not the only person who says "ow" when crashing a vehicle. It's not hurting me, it's not hurting my in game character, but still;
OW
Ive got a wheeled rover that Im going to test out with this.
I already have it hydrogen flight enbled to get it into the mothership and do small flight maneuvers, but this will be much easier to use
Hovercraft are fairly energy efficient if you're willing to risk turning off dampeners.
3:35 Trees hate wheels. If you place a "Bumper" made of suspensions on the fron of your rover/ship/hovercraft trees gonna bejust deleted on impact without losing any speed at all. Found that trick when i was playing on rover only server and got fucking sick of some tiny ass tree stopping my 50 kiloton rover in an instant or bouncing it back as if it was some rubber ball.
Congrats on 20k
🎉
You can also get the voxel smoother mod that makes the rough edges gone
I added a piston with a landing gear to my hovercraft, as it seems to bounce around slowly if you park it on a platform, so I can lock it to the platform. If you leave it parked on terrain it doesn't happen.
Imagine building a hover tank with this method.
"Every slight incline"
*climbs right angle wall*
Finally! Now I can get a good ship for my survival world. There's no trees on my world too, because I chose Titan!
Don't worry, soon I will remove all of the tree's on the Earthlike Planet as well.
@@Zer0sLegion That will be neat
I feel like with some mass blocks and gravity generators you could stabilize this abit and make it work on low gravity planets
I think im going to look at using this concept on the landing pod. We've all been there where we land in a crap spot, might be easier to get mobile!
Skimmers are great... :)
But don't hide the wheels, have some out the front angled ready to absorb the bumps and ridges...
You CAN land hard enough to smash wheels if driving a large grid mobile base skimmer and you start bouncing off funky jumps... :D
Yeah, I learned don't hide the wheels the hard way.
airship. Use an atmospheric mining ship for transport.
Mind if I make a content request? See if you can make a working land-ship. Something of a rover vehicle that looks almost exactly like our modern sea faring battleships. Hell, see if you can't make a ship that works with the water mod! Stick a pair of Artillery cannons on each end of it!
I'm definitely making a hovercraft at some point
You just hit 20k pretty cool!
🎉
0.0
So um... I'm ging to have a miner mine out a long twisted tunnle in an astroid. Then I'm going to add a grav gen.
On the small narrow hover craft with No thruster, I'll had a Mass block.
THEN!
Feel the Rythem! Feel the Rhyme! Jamaca! It's Bobsled time!"
Good job on 20k
🎉
I want a hover craft battle now
Me - Cool, but can we weaponize it?
Also me, Yes!! More Ducka!!!
Already on it
@@Zer0sLegion make it like a speeder tank from starwars, fast, auto-canons both fixed and on terited
on a server i played a lot on before, we had races with Land Vehicles, and you were not allowed to use vehicles that did not utilize the wheels on the ground, so i built a Hovercraft almost exactly like the one you showed at the end. safe to say that i won, and since i used wheels on the ground, it didnt get me disqualified lol.
bros going ludicrous speed
merry Christmas. I subbed just for you Zero
Same to you!
the music in the start is used in arkam asylum in lego batman from 2008
(BTW the name of the music is: Waltz to the Death)
Indeed it is
@@Zer0sLegion nice to know your a fan of that game too 😄
The first thing what comes to mind is a gliding Hovercraft-Base.
I kinda wish that there was a more realistically designed power curve for wheel power outputs. Power is rotational speed times torque. I think rovers would be heaps more interesting if the power slider was replaced by a gear ratio slider. Then you can decide whether you want to prioritize speed, by sacrificing torque and thus carrying capacity, or sacrifice speed for carrying capacity. I think it would be cool to have slow crawlers that can’t exceed 30m/s but have the ability to move enormous amounts of cargo over uncooperative terrain.
I think that would work pretty well on Pertam
Definitely.
I don't recall how fast but my one rover went dangerously fast also.
get smooth voxels with this one ;)
Yeah, I would use it more often but I got made fun of last time I used it lol
do u keep the shocks and stearing foundation just so u can turn off everything plus the friction? otherwise couldnt you just place a wheel down without all of that?
You can't steer without friction if that's what you mean. The shock absorbers still work.
Made in heaven.
Jo Jo reference.
Exactly, as you said, its incredibly cheap. Ill definately be using that for the early game rover replacements. Obviously we all know that you eventually get to the point where you just build a VTOL capable ship and just fly everywhere but thats a cool concept. Thank you very much
I recently built a hovercraft on a survival world with a friend, and it’s working way better than 90% of rovers that I’ve built!
They're great, right!
I use wheels for making drop pod bases
you bet my loathing for grinding is totally about to make a cargo hovercraft because atmo ships is a pain for me without uranium.
“Do you like the hovercraft?”
*me who’s built a hovercraft small tank, large tank, and ‘slide car’ before this video:
“Yes.”
Also two of the three woek in space
ok
You've reached 20k by Christmas. Nice.
🎉
Merry chrimas
Is it good for big block vehicles? For example making compact (15x12block) base, and if eventually want to move it somewhere, I can put it on wheels and go, or add trusters, and go to space, so my question is: can i make hovercraft base?
Of course you can
I have another method for rough terrain which is very expensive, very silly, but almost as fast as the hovercraft, just make the rover as big as a building ;)
Definitely gonna have to try this sliding tech out though. Finally, a small rover that doesn't instantly die upon reaching the wacky rough terrain. Downside is lack of fine control, but who needs that anyway?
5:37 Add upward thruster or jet + gyro, 90 degree ascenscion possible.
great job at 20k
🎉
In my experience, with skimmers rough landings still can cause Issues, wheels may be invincible but the suspension does _not_ appreciate impact at that angle.
Also, having a reverse thruster and a pair of lateral thrusters is still a good idea for inertial dampening and braking reasons. Still cheaper to build and run than a ship.
Yeah, I would include the extra thrusters if I was building one in survival, it was just for demo that you didn't need the extra thrusters.
20K BABY
If you add a vector thrust script and thruster on a rotor you can easily walk away with just one engine for all directions. What also would be useful is a script which maintains horizontal position of the craft.
You can maintain the horizontal position using gyroscope overrides (which I was doing), it just takes a lot of force.
@@Zer0sLegion Leveling script gives slightly more freedom, allowing your craft to tilt to a certain degree, or in specific axle. Also, if your craft does overpower the gyros and turn over, gyro override will not turn you back up unlike script.
rovers would redeem themselves if there was brake check
Never seen or used one. Does this design impact server performances for online MP ? I could imagine that due to the amount of wheels, multiple calculations (at least 1 per wheel) per ms/sec are now needed to determine hit area with the ground.
It's gonna be no more laggy than using a regular rover or ship.
Hmmm, i wonder if it can be orbitally inserted without parachutes
To keep the craft upright, could you just put one of the gyros on override.
I did have them 😉, it didn't help much lol.
I just used attitude thrusters.
Is the end hovercraft on both workshops, or just on steam?
Doesn't look like that one specifically is on xbox but there's a couple of similar ones
Use subgrid speed limit bypass using rotors centrifugal force to travel in a wacky way like a catapult or trebuchet
You hve hite 20k🤯🥳
🎉
This plus merge drive
We need a hover tank
I want to see Hovercraft with a Clank Drive. It will either be underwhelming, or the most powerful combination since the Infinity Gauntlet.
I did think about it but we were already going to so fast I didn't think it was needed.
@@Zer0sLegion Isn't Hovercraft a hybrid vehicle? Able to traverse land and water? Why not add space to the list!
Congrats on 20k!
Wait. I’m not subscribed yet! Give me a second.
Thanks!
@@Zer0sLegion your welcome! Your honestly one of the best space engineers UA-camrs and i started watching you in November when I got the game and was surprised I hadn’t subscribed already.
