Just done my second placement of my 1st year of study. My first evaluation was mostly good and a couple of very good (very good is the highest what you get in Belgium). The second evaluation was good and very good 50/50! During the last evaluation the head nurse has said that they have rarely such good first year students!!!! Very happy with my progress!
Hello! Is this your first clinical placement ever? If so, you don’t need to do or know anything, apart from what you’ve had from university in terms of preparation (a-e assessment, knowing who and how to ask for help etc.). If you’ve been out to placement before, you know the process; take the first few days to settle in, and start looking around at what you feel you could learn on placement. Look up a couple of common haematological conditions and treatments, just to get yourself used to terminology nothing more at this stage. Go with an open mind, talk to people, smile and say hello, and you’ll be dragged to different teaching sessions and learning opportunities before you know it! 💪🏼 you’ve got this!
