Hi everyone! I hope you're all safe and well! This video is pretty different from what we usually make! I had a really good time staying at the cabin and dedicating a full week to painting. If you could dedicate a few days to a hobby or a skill: what would you work on? 🤔
I think i’d dedicate a few days on practicing my drawing skills because i never really have the motivation to do so right now so if i went to a cabin for week i’d probably mainly practice that. Either that or practice my singing lol
I took up model building again about 6 years ago, and I love nothing more than working on a diorama or a new kit. It centers me and at the same time, it helps me relax. Your paintings are amazing and your abstract is my favourite. If no members of your family want it, I would definitely put it pride and place in my study 😍
Martina is so pretty, I love her witty sense of humour, positivity, motivation I just love how she's totally embracing life extensive happiness not letting anything stop her or depriving her from her great kind generous intentions. I love her purple lilac vibrant hair colour, I desperately want to have my purple vibrant hair colour again now I've somehow gone back to my natural sort of yuccky hideous brunette hair colour just as well I've got my purple colour ready lol
@@punkykarooney2912 Hey now, what's wrong with brown hair? I would never call it yucky. People give it a bad name because it is the most common hair colour but it's still beautiful and actually has a huge variety.
@@aaRept oops lol I just realised I insulted natural brown hair colour. I'm so sorry it came out wrong, I meant to say I have really nice natural brunette hair colour however unfortunately it doesn't stay clean for long since washing my hair in the most amazing lavender shampoo that's purposely designed for excessive oily fine hair, which I've tried numerous shampoos to using various dry shempoos including talcum powder, I'm screwed either way as I can't deny my oily hair, I'm autistic and was bullied because of my severe learning disability difficulties for my oily hair despite constantly trying to stay on top of it within 24 hours, it's totally over compensated with excessive oil greasy yucky sebum in my hair eeew 😱 lol. I totally agree 100 percent with you that brown natural hair is generally a really nice colour, at the same time please can I ask you don't feel bad about your reply to my comment

Gogow gadjet dans ta GUEULE Oh, it’s definitely abstract. Art isn’t just realistic and abstract; there’s a spectrum. Just because it’s not 100% abstract doesn’t mean it’s not abstract! :)
I just stumbled across this video and I don't know anything about you or your channel but honest to god... This is the most fucking interesting and inspirational video I think I've ever seen on YT and the most precious thing to do! I really have a lot of respect for you and how you mastered these days all alone and this challenge. I myself live in a cabin in the woods. I love to to draw. But both are aspects in my life I haven't been able to enjoy lately, especially since Corona. The lonliness of absolutely NO human contact at all for such a long time(even though I'm social phobic and really avoid humans whenever possible lol) and the stress that drawing triggers in me have made it difficult even though I love nothing more than nature and art. But you with this video really moved something in me so THANK YOU! :) I'm going to start drawing again and try to not focus on the outcome but the process. Try new things like landscapes, which I never was good at, only portraits but now I have so much motivation for learning it and overcoming my fear! The joy it brings, not the pressure I put myself under usually. Also I'm going to look again at all the things I always loved so much living here and not focus on the solitude. Great project!
Get friends like Simon! He seems really fun, kind, and supportive. I know if my friends said my art was going to be worth millions, I’d fall over. Nice work, Martina! C:
The art is amazing, Martina is amazing, but can we all appreciate Hansi a bit? The challenges he wrote were amazing and really suited every day for what Martina was experiencing. Giving her a break in isolation in the middle of the week by having a friend visit, and the last one being finality shows he put so much thought into it! Love both of you so much, keep up the great work! ❤️
My thoughts exactly ! These challenges were so very clever and adapted to the situation. And the friend's visit is actually such a thoughtfull way of taking care of her. Good guy Hansi ! He and Martina are such a perfect team !
This is perhaps my favorite video of yours so far -- and I do love what you do: the books, the dioramas .... you're just so inspirational. But this video was great. The whole concept was interesting. The isolation, the challenges, the solitude, the fantastic panoramas, your talks. I was there with you on this sojourn every step and brush stroke of the way. You make me want to get back into painting. What talent you have. And I applauded your physical prowess. Yes, you are very enjoyable to watch, too.
I agree! I love all of her builds, but something about this was so wholesome and inspirational. It also made me want to pick up painting again. So I am with you - one of my favourite Nerdforge videos also :D
@@AP-zx1ok I've got several things on my to-do list and then I will take out my artist easel www.instructables.com/id/HOW-I-BUILT-AN-ART-EASEL-FOR-FREE/ and start to paint again. LOL to be fair, Norway is far more north than we remember. I had to pause at that line too with the same thought. Then went wait... this was filmed in the summer, and in Alaska, it's light until almost midnight, she's in Norway, this tracks.
@@DontExpectAReplyFromMeI think they’re trying to say that for most places 10pm would be completely dark out whereas where Martina is, it’s still light outside despite being 10pm so it’s like daytime
I couldn't get enough of this. I watched the whole thing and was sad when it ended. I wish I could do something like this. I need make time for painting. Before kids I use to paint 8 hours and not even know so much time had passed. Sometimes it's like I was in a trance and I didn't even know what I had painted till the end. The kids are older and I'm starting to have more time, but I'm out rusty
I don't know how old your kids are, but maybe you could introduce them to painting alongside you? I know it can be tough to find time for hobbies once you have people depending on you, but even if you can't reach old levels right now, maybe you could find some way back towards painting and pass your passion on to your kids as well :)
''all alone in a tiny little cabin where no one will ever hear me scream'' PERFECT, THEN YOU CAN JUST SCREAM AND NO ONE WILL BE STARTLED BY THE SUDDEN SCREAMING
I would enjoy being there Imagine being able to sing without the fear of someone hearing you because you sound like a dying warthog (or dancing, acting, taking photos, etc.) It must be heaven to be left alone in peace for once
i keep thinking when i see those beautiful shots of people (who are obviously alone) doing stuff how they must have first set up the cam^^ and then kind of reinact the actions xD like also in the cabin: go into the dark cabin, open some blinds to see something,, set up camera, close blinds, record opening blinds again xD
You forgot: Sharpening pencils until the tip stop breaking and falling out Picking up materials/supplies that fell on the floor every 5 minutes Coloring a big piece with pencils
@@littlelady9801 Wake up Get out of bed Set up camera (lighting, framing, etc.) Start recording Jump back in bed Act like sleeping *yawn*.. crawl out of bed ...
I keep thinking just how funny it would look actually watching you make the recording. Like putting the camera, running and then going back for it, rinse, repeat. Also loved the abstract one, it was beautiful
Every time I have an artblock, I turn on this video and start wanting to draw. You give so much inspiration. Thank you Martina and Hansi for the Nerdforge!

I lived in a cabin in the woods for almost 2 years. I totally get the eerie feeling being by yourself at night. Your paintings are awesome 😊 keep at it!
The trick is to become the reason why others have that feeling. Become one with the darkness of the forest, become the elf, become the troll, become the bigfoot.
I stumbled upon your videos a few days ago and I CANNOT STOP WATCHING !!! I love what you create and the amount of dedication and quality is stunning !! And the quality of the filming and editing (which I believe is done by Hansi ?) is really amazing and makes every moment of the video really interesting ! Also it might seem a little weird saying this but it feels nice to see girls using big machines/soldering and creating stuff I normally only see guys make s: Lots of love to both of you and I'm really looking forward to your new projects
19:38 Man Martina, I had a similar idea a while back and had no idea how I could put it to a canvas and this piece is so cool that it resparked how I wanted my idea to look like. Your paintings are so cool! Thank you for inspiring me a lot and motivating me with your art!!!
There is a quote I like: “A Mathematician is a machine for turning coffee into theorems. “Martina is a machine for turning coffee to paintings while at a cabin.”
Omg Martina I am so glad that I have found your page. I'm going thru a difficult time right now and your energy is helping me so much. I'd love for you to do another 'spending time in the forest video'. Norway looks sooo nice. The challenges, the cabin, the solitude, so much is like an ASMR video (rain sounds, fire sounds, etc). Great art creations as well. ❤❤
Hey girl! Just wanna tell you that you have inspired me to paint again! Your honesty and passion really helped me find my artistic bravery! Thank you! 🤗 You're super talented and I can't wait to see more of your work! Mystical love from Scotland!
I seriously envy you! I really wish I could visit a cabin in the woods so I can get in touch with my creativity while being surrounded by lovely nature. Just peace and quiet so I can focus on my writing, with no interruptions. When you're trapped in a city, it sounds like a dream. Phenomenal artwork! I am very intimidated by traditional mediums in painting (I prefer to work on art digitally), but after seeing this, I definitely want to face my fears and give it a shot.
Hi! I have to admit there are tears in my eyes now.. I've already seen a few of your videos and i know you're super creative and inspiring, but this... this is another level. I'm stuck on quarantine, my country's at war and i'm desperate to find a job but you took me on that life saving trip with you and I just feel reborn. You're incredibly beautiful, kind and talented person but the most amazing thing is your ability to share all this with others. Thank you!
I find it interesting to watch her paint. Bob Ross starts with the background and works his way forward in the scene, but here she starts with the major elements and works around those, wherever they happen to be. I'm not sure it's any easier, but it's definitely got some excellent results behind it!
for information, I'm color blind and for me, blueberries and her hair have the same color and I thought of flamingos that turn pink by eating pink shrimp (and I have no problem with hair coloring)
At first I really felt a Swedish vibe to you, and I was like looking for ”signs” if it was true. When I saw the Marabou chocolate I was like ”there it is, she’s Swedish”, but then you started talking Norwegian. I was close enough though ;)
Can throw a confusion ball into that one. Marabou chocolate can also be found in Denmark. So you'd have no other option to figure out the nationality, other than text or spoken language (or another definitive sign).
@@Nike_IV Norwegian , Swedish and Danish is mutually intellageble and very simular. only on very rare occations do I have to switch to the language of the one I'm talking to. Most Swedes and Danes understand Norwegian , atleast the written form. Although some of our dialects and accents may be tougher to get through.. to be fair I even sometimes have a hard time understanding some of the dialects in my own language ;)
@@lituma16 yea, I've heard that from other sweds that they have some issues understanding danish. apart from the fact that danes sound abit wierd they are usually not that hard to understand. Well certain dialects might be tougher than others but in general I understand danish just fine. and that 's also very common here in norway that most norwegians understand both swedish and danish without to much difficulty.
I started trying to teach myself how to paint during quarantine, so finding this video really helps cement the idea that creativity and skill can be improved day by day, challenge by challenge I just loved every painting.
It is so important for a person to spend time alone with themselves. It's eye-opening. If we can't be alone with our own self for an extended period of time, we lose a lot of helpful information. I have been a lover of solitude all my life - in fact, I'd rather be alone than with people for a whole bushel basket full of reasons. Mostly, I just like to have the quiet time where I can think, talk to myself about my ideas and challenges, spend time reading, gardening, fishing, writing, trying my hand at a new skill (basket weaving right now) or just sleeping. I loved seeing the difference between your woods and the ones we have here - ours are pine trees mostly where I live. The view from your lookout was superb. I think your paintings turned out great, although I have to agree with you on your floating orb. Challenges well met. I am looking forward to your next video.
I started following this channel a couple of days ago and I am amazed and blown away by the talent, passion and commitment of you two! I’ve enjoyed every single one of the clips I’ve seen thank you so much!!! Dragqueen kisses from Sweden
Did you wake up, turn the camera on, then get back in bed to film yourself fake waking up? Lol. If so I totally love you for that 😂 Also, I feel so untalented watching your videos lol. You and Hansi are so so gifted it’s insane. ❤️❤️
You put the camera in position the night before. Then you put it on the first time you wake up (just pressing a button). Then you snooze for a little bit (like almost everybody does) and then you get up for real and it is on film 💪🏻 This is how i do it haha
This one was less about the painting and more about Martina. It was brilliant. She combines funny, talented and a little bit vulnerable in a wonderful way. Nice to see Hansi at the beginning and end too.
I would love to do this so much, just get out into a beautiful cabin in the middle of nature and just stay away from society for a week or maybe more. It would do so much good, I'd love nothing more :')
I literally stopped breathing for a moment. All of this is so, so beautiful. Your paintings are beautiful. This cabin in the middle of nowhere is beautiful. And you are so beautiful, creative and brave.
I am in awe. That first day painting, "Real with a Twist" was so pretty. Actually, everything you did was so pretty. I love it! Good job in your painting retreat! When you started painting by yourself without any prompts or challenges, I was so happy for you. That's when you know its working! If I ever get the chance to do this, I might do a writing retreat. sadly, my anxiety might not allow me to retreat that far off from civilization. You might be anxious about this video, but I really enjoyed it, and I can see that everyone else did as well! Keep up the good work! (BOTH of you are still the cutest couple ever.)
You did so well! And Oh my! So BRAVE! You went running around the woods with no one around to help you out if you sprained your ankle or twisted a knee! Well here’s to you and your wonderful artworks from your week of solitude! I enjoyed watching the cleaning montage, getting the cabin ready for the next occupant. Now you strike me as a very capable young lady and I am truly impressed by all of your amazing artworks and projects that you guys create for your channel. I am glad that you have this video available for your viewers to watch and enjoy, thanks!
I haven't seen all 5 yet, but so far the 3rd one is my favorite. I can't wait to see the rest, but I love anything that speaks to magic and fantasy. You nailed it. (Oh, I thought it was a literal week, you know, 7 days. You wimp. Lol). Okay, the last one evokes epic drama, so emotive. Geez. I'm torn, but I think the last one has to be my favorite. That gave off the smell of *victory.* You're an amazing artist. I feel I should by some pigments. Nah. I can't deal with the accumulation of things I have no one to give them to. And selling, well . . .
I'm a painter too. I paint with oil paint in the style of the 17th century a.k.a. The Golden Age. I am normally not a fan of abstract paintings. But yours is amazing 👏🏼
@@beautyofdawn9565 I am such a goof. I thought I could upload some pictures of my work. They will have to be videos 🤓 I actually just bought a camera to start vlogging. So I need to go and figure that out.

That looked like an amazing time! Quarantine has left me with quite the artist's block, if I found an opportunity like that I would take it in a heartbeat.
I absolutely LOVE the last painting you did. I really loved all of them but the last one was my favorite. The lighting and the silhouette are just gorgeous. Nice job Martina! I absolutely loved this video!
Haven’t finished video yet, but omgosh the second painting is absolutely stunning. Also you chose right music for me to tear up a bit while watching this beauty.
It's beautiful to see an artist work so diligently at their talent. I can't say friend because we haven't met. But I am an artist myself and have worked hard at my talent and it's a pleasure to see another do the same. I apricate all artist who work so hard at their craft. So many people don't really know what it takes to be the best. it's drill, drill, drill because you always keep learning.
Thanks for sharing this! That was a really enjoyable watch, inspires me to do something similar. I’d be up for more of this kind of content from you, if/when the mood strikes you and you feel like something a little different.
That harsh line in the middle of the sphere, it looks like to me anyway is a portal opening and something is about to come through! I think it's an absolutely gorgeous painting and I would be proud to have it in my collection!
2024.. back to this video. I remember watching this video in 2020 like a week after it was uploaded. I got so inspired back then that I immediatly subscribed and have been watching the channel a lot since. I am currently in an artblock myself and after watching this video again, I may am gonna plan something similair to this. Although the country where I live it's flat with almost no forest so I gotta improvise a bit but I love that the video (and the nerdforge channel ofc) has yet again given me loads of inspiration
That location was absolutely beautiful! Very inspiring by itself. You really did a great job at your paintings. You should do again in another location with Hansi next year. It would give us viewers 2 for one! And who doesn't like a little friendly competition? Nice work!
What an amazing challenge - loved watching this video!!! Such a beautiful spot the cabin was in...so pretty. I totally could relate when you talked about being scared at night, I moved to a cottage by myself last year and it took me a month before I could look outside at night as it is SO dark and quiet here but now I love it. Thanks for motivating me to finish the paintings I've started but have not finished 💖
I really, really wanted to see Hansi’s reaction to the paintings - what did he think seeing his challenges brought to life? 😲 Awesome video - enjoyed taking the trip with you!
Haha. This was me on my solo trip to baja cali. It was so hard to disconnect, I was scared half the time I was there, but...when I finally found myself relaxing into the locale, enjoying the food, and talking to strangers in a cafe - I was finally embracing the atmosphere. The last days spent there were so healing to my soul. Being outside of our comfort zone really provides us a new perspective of the world we didn't have before. I hope you enjoyed your experience there, despite any hardships.
It's probably because I'm delirious from lack of sleep that I'm commenting this but I love this video so much. I watch it non stop because it's just a give inspiration for my writing, I've been looking at cabins to get away for a week or so and have friends and family give me prompts to work on while I'm gone. This is just purely amazing
I think this was a brilliant idea and I'm really glad you did it. Not only was it inspirational to me, but it was also really cool to see the process and I loved all the paintings. I think the abstract one really spoke to me, but the one you made for your friend Simon was a close second. Very cool!
Glad you had that experience, it's really fantastic! Glad you're safe! It was weird not to have a video of you... Now back to your projects and stealing gravel from your neighbors! Keep safe!
Thanks Martina, your adventures in the cabin really motivated me to accept a new phase in my life and be ready to return to my painting career and connect more to its nature 💚💚💚🤍💀

Constructive criticism, I love how the first 3 have this "tree" theme, in the second it feels like it really pairs the first as almost a mirrored twin. I wish this vertical line theme were brought through all five to make them a cohesive unit as an almost secondary challenge. All beautiful but I cant get over how much I love the first two as a set
Wth I literally don’t know how you do this, you turn something real or realistic into something you imagined or completely different, from colors to characters to ideas the whole thing. When I paint I can really only do well when I do hyper realistic paintings, and copy directly from photos and can never have a good idea when I do these type. When I attempt to not draw the exact same as the photo, it comes out really bad. Your imagination is so good and that you can put them on paper it’s so impressive. The forest ones looks so magical like it’s from some fairy tail or some fictional world I’ve always wanted to go to, the abstract one came out amazing too I love that one.

My wife just saw your finished product, and I explained to her your challenge. She said that the painting would be great to find in the woods. Interesting idea, don't know how that would work, but thought it was interesting enough to comment on. Great work. You do amazing things!
I, personally, am not a huge abstract fan. However, your painting is actually one I'd purchase!! It also makes me think of my situation right now. Alone. Lately I've started getting back into my artwork again but, unfortunately or maybe fortunately depending on what I can create using this time of my life, I'm constantly mentally seeing different art ideas to draw &/or paint in Black & White. What you created & with the coloring you used is awesome & inspiring. As a matter of fact, in the few videos I've seen of yours, you're work is amazing. Thank you for sharing!!

To get a "Im reborn" type of feeling, you need a heroic dose of a psychadelic.
:D
I agree too. I feel so relaxed wen i watch this video of Martina
Martina: "It's nearly 10PM now, it's really getting dark"
Everyone not from somewhere crazy North: Martina that is daytime.
LOL to be fair, Norway is far more north than we remember. I had to pause at that line too with the same thought. Then went wait... this was filmed in the summer, and in Alaska, it's light until almost midnight, she's in Norway, this tracks.
haha yeah! i'm sitting here at 7:30 and it's been completely dark for almost an hour
How is 10PM daytime? Can anyone explain?
@@DontExpectAReplyFromMeI think they’re trying to say that for most places 10pm would be completely dark out whereas where Martina is, it’s still light outside despite being 10pm so it’s like daytime
@@adelewhittaker ohhh.
You should definitely go for it! It's never too late to start again and it's so worth it!
I don't know how old your kids are, but maybe you could introduce them to painting alongside you? I know it can be tough to find time for hobbies once you have people depending on you, but even if you can't reach old levels right now, maybe you could find some way back towards painting and pass your passion on to your kids as well :)

I lived in a cabin in the woods for almost 2 years. I totally get the eerie feeling being by yourself at night. Your paintings are awesome 😊 keep at it!
I don't get that. What scares me is living amongst people
How the HELL do u have Internet, tell me ur secret I wanna live in a cabin when I'm older
I could live in a cabin far away from people, as long as I had wifi.
I want to live in a cabin but I’m scared lol
The trick is to become the reason why others have that feeling. Become one with the darkness of the forest, become the elf, become the troll, become the bigfoot.

Some absolutely phenomenal art Martina, love them all i thought you would paint that view but every painting you did do was soo good.
I find it interesting to watch her paint. Bob Ross starts with the background and works his way forward in the scene, but here she starts with the major elements and works around those, wherever they happen to be. I'm not sure it's any easier, but it's definitely got some excellent results behind it!
When ever Im stressed or needing to relax I always come back to this video and it just in a way cleans everything and makes the world good again

At first I really felt a Swedish vibe to you, and I was like looking for ”signs” if it was true. When I saw the Marabou chocolate I was like ”there it is, she’s Swedish”, but then you started talking Norwegian. I was close enough though ;)
I was wondering what language that was, thx
@@scanor As a swede I understand both spoken and written Norweigan, but only written danish
The fact that you have multiple camera angles despite being alone is such a metric of DEDICATION. Very impressive!
Purple Hair, alone time, painting for 7 days in a forest - you're living my dream life 😭😭😭❤️❤️
It is so important for a person to spend time alone with themselves.

Did you wake up, turn the camera on, then get back in bed to film yourself fake waking up? Lol. If so I totally love you for that 😂
Also, I feel so untalented watching your videos lol.
Of course she did. She's Alone

I realy love how you come up whit these paintings whit out a reference photo. I always need a reference photo. I am super impressed by that Martina
This one was less about the painting and more about Martina. It was brilliant. She combines funny, talented and a little bit vulnerable in a wonderful way. Nice to see Hansi at the beginning and end too.
The abstract painting looks like a hooded figure in front of a huge bonfire in the woods, love it.
Agreed. All I could see. Hooded person in front of a pyre.
Interesting. I saw a person walking into light, maybe a new chapter of their life.
It looked like a person standing in the middle of a street in a rain soaked city to me!
I saw a person standing in front of a glowing castle with rain lol
I saw the hooded figure walking away from the light while everyone else thought he was going towards it or at least facing it 😂😂💔
This is the kind of art and life I've dreamed of having. Your art is magnificent!

Good job in your painting retreat! When you started painting by yourself without any prompts or challenges, I was so happy for you. That's when you know its working!
If I ever get the chance to do this, I might do a writing retreat. sadly, my anxiety might not allow me to retreat that far off from civilization.

And selling, well . . .
