As someone who spent a bit over a year of incredibly mundane and soulless EV ownership, this video filled my heart with joy! Can’t wait to get back into such a amazing car like this myself.
I love it! Gotta take the fuel economy hit cuz the 6.2-liter Supercharged V8 loves to stretch its legs with regular spirited runs. The CT5-V Blackwing looks good and fits right in to opening night at the opera, picking the kids up from school or embarrassing a Panamera on the twisties. Miles, I'm so happy you went with the Cadillac. The CT5-V Blackwing has the best looking front fascia of any car in the GM lineup with a suspension setup for any occasion. Rodeo Drive or a day at the track? Yep, you and the Caddy got 'em both covered!
It's a wonder, Edd. I know the fanciest diners might scoff at the color or badge, but I'd rather eat a great burger and fries (mid-burnout, of course 😉 )
If only there were roads like this near me. Such a great car like this deserves to be driven to its potential. Too bad the roads are always crowded where I live.
I've been waiting on this followup video after you broke it in. I missed the chance to have one built with my specific options so now i'm on the hunt for one that's close. Seems a lot were built without the carbon packages and that's a must for me.
A little birdie told me only the anniversary editions got the CF packs for 2023, so it makes sense why you're having a tough time finding one - sorry about that! Hope you find a unicorn that hits all your criteria (the car is worth the wait!)
@@dizz81 Refresh was cancelled/delayed until either Winter or 2025 models, if you hadn't found out already. GM Authority has an article on it. 2024 will likely start production in July.
Great video! I cannot afford this car but I wonder if CT4 blackwing is as comfortable as this one. Looks like its very comfy when you want comfort, road noise and comfort is crucial after getting used to german cars but still want a manual transmission 😆
The CT4-V BW is also comfortable with magnetic ride control dampers. The shorter wheelbase isn't as settled as the CT5 Blackwing, but it's great for its class.
Love the video! This car is definitely on the radar. Question. Any particular reason you chose this over a C8 stingray? I can’t decide between the two.
I love the video and your car..it just reminded of my long departed Camaro ZL1 especially as you were going through the gears on that amazing drive through the mountains. It very much reminds me of my old favorite drive route that I stumbled upon when I lived in SoCal stationed at MCAS El Toro in Orange County. Ortega hwy from San Capistrano to Lake Elsinore was a fun but at times dangerous road that I truly loved. Stay safe and enjoy the ride!!
Did you sign up for Spring Mountain yet? It has to be within 1 year of delivery date and dates usually fill up fast. GM usually hands out one 6 month extension if you cannot get it within 1 year but it's on a case by case basis. I almost didn't get to schedule mine in time (got in less than 1 month before the year was up) and I started trying to get scheduled 2 months after getting the car.
Driving manual my whole life, but the no lift shift must be weird/difficult for awhile, cause its just habit or natural to let up on the accelerator... (no worries to me, cause ill never own something like this *sad face*)
Congrats and welcome to the blackwing club .agreed my man this car is a 10 on 10 machine And everytime I get into the driver seat it reminds me how special this car really is I'm looking to purchase the carbon pack 2 side skirts and the diffuser how much aprox those 2 cost you
Is that engine sound coming from the speakers? From what I read they have electronic engine sounds that play through the speakers that you cannot disable.
What do you think about the xjr’s? I got a 2000 Jaguar xjr and I absolutely love everything about it. I also wish I could hear more of that supercharger but will for sure be adding a cold air intake as well.
Dodge is so overrated and lower build quality and not worth it's money plus many lower hp cars heat cats so many people have left Mopar jeep even a m5cs has already beat a hellcat
In my opinion, this car is quite underrated. Wish i could see more of them than just seeing dodge chargers and challengers all the time because it is such a good looking car. You made the right choice miles 👍
I don't. I'm reviewing so many different vehicles every week, I don't need to drive the Blackwing for anything other than pleasure. However, I have spent a few hours nonstop behind the wheel, and that's taught me a few things...
I've got about 90k miles with LT4s so far and wouldn't bother with a catch can...yet. I've seen no reason as the PCV setup seems to work well, and I wouldn't want to replace the PCV setup as many aftermarket systems require If you're going to do it, I'd wait until after the warranty is over. YMMV.
Hey Miles. Awesome car. Question. Is this car worth buying even if you don’t have canyon roads like this? I’m considering putting in an order for one but I live in Phoenix and things are pretty flat and straight here.
Hey, interesting question. My first drive of the car was in Nevada, which doesn't have nearly the same access to amazing roads as SoCal, yet I still loved every minute behind the wheel. The best part about this car is that it's a pleasure to drive even slowly. The Tremec (if you choose it) is easy to row and has a communicative clutch, the magnetic ride control is so so compliant, and the V8 sounds great (don't need a curvy road to hear it). All that said, it would be a shame not to be able to explore how good this car is in a canyon or at the track. I'd still vote for it, but perhaps not as rambunctiously as without a full test circuit. Hope this helps!
The thing that worries me about this car is too much power to the rear wheels actually. I can see many a driver wiping out in this thing unless they know what they are doing.
Too much power for normal driving, rather get that Honda/Integra type S/R. Those you can drive to their potential, and not only floor it once or twice. In Germany autobahn, yes would be nice to go no limits on the freeway.
Because my job is to review multiple cars every week. I enjoy every mile I get to drive my car, and I'm fortunate that I get to make sure that time behind the wheel is savored. Please don't tell me how to enjoy something I worked hard to buy.
You don't hear the SC because GM removed what they called undesirable harmonics using active noise cancellation. On the V3, all you heard was SC and no motor. Now it's the opposite. I think GM should make it driver selectable if all they're doing is deciding which sounds to let thru the active noise cancellation system. I'm not sure aftermarket parts are going to make a difference with the noise cancellation setup
No,it's called imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. CT5 design and its odd-at-the-time now-I-don't-notice C-pillar came out years ago, before Honda copied it.
He doesn’t get the shift often to the tight turns And if he did keep his foot on the gas and started ripping gears He would end up drifting,at the bottom of the canyon,or just crash it
Nothing better than a guy that loves his car

Nothing but love here!

As a german I fully respect this car. Its really good looking, has a nice interior and corners superb. Very good choice.

m5cs no brainer
Well the m5cs really isn’t close to this price wise, it’s about 40k more. A m5comp is more along the lines of this

Love the M3, but its manual is so much less enjoyable to operate than the Tremec in the BW.
