I got damaged frets, holes in the fingerboard, battery inside the guitar, GOTOCH 510 tuners and each one works differently and many other nonsense and Taylor is " SORRY"....then you have to be an idiot. Racism. I'm from Polish, so " you can".

Я не умею играть на гитаре. У меня нет музыкального слуха.
Но я купил себе Taylor 814ce.
    Зачем?
Чтоб иногда доставать её из чехла, подержать в руках и, просто посмотреть.
Она своим видом доставляет мне огромное удовольствие.
    Это очень красивая гитара❤

I bought a Dowina Amber Road with same specs as the 814ce. Rosewood, ebony fret board, spruce top, mahogany neck. It has Gotoh tuners. My spruce top is Dolomite spruce aka Italian spruce. My top was tuned. On the Master Series they tune the guitar top. Not sure Dolomite spruce is always available. Choose nut width.
It costs much less than the 814 and you can choose the body style.
I'm very happy with it. Very comfortable to play.

I have the Taylor 814 CE and a Gibson J-45 and love them both and more so than my Martin D-28.

Hi Derek, firstly a big thank you for another informative and indeed insightful demo. I have only ever owned one acoustic, my first ever, A Fender Gemini II which was a Christmas present from the present Mrs Poole. It was excellent and everyone who tried it really liked it but sadly, I sold it to fund my first electric. Big mistake as the aforementioned 'long suffering' (her' words), first reaction when I told her of the sacrifice I'd made was to ask (in a not very polite tone!), "what the hell did you do that for"?. To this day I have no idea, I guess I believed it was expected of me, whereas her interpretation was, and still is I expect, "I spent hours picking that for you". Women eh?
Anyway, years later, I was given tickets to a Taylor demo in Cardiff and the demonstrator was Doyle Dykes, a superb clinician and session player who must have demo'd 8-10 guitars and everyone of them sounded absolutely stellar. I had a look around afterwards and spoke to Doyle himself, who provided a really good resume of each model and I have to say that as a result, I've always held that ownership of a Taylor is on my bucket list so I'm not surprised that you find the 814CE so attractive, they really are a premier instrument from a construction, materials and tonal perspective. The only thing I have reservations about from your' demo and I think you made reference to it is the lack of 'top end' but I'm absolutely positive it would still pass my "Smoke on the water" audition 😊😏
    Cheers mate.

Hey Gareth! Thanks for the amazing comment, I did also realise that when I play I damp a lot! Doesn’t make guitars ring out, I think it’s a control thing, if I don’t damp it it rings out all over the place, must learn some ‘ringing’ stuff, there is plenty of top end on it though :) I think that’s why I like Martin guitars as well, less top end and more rounded, but the Taylor guitars just have a sizzle to them which is addictive :) cheers!

The 814 sound nice and I love your song selection! But, to compare the PRS Angelus (import model) at $700 to the Taylor 814ce at around $4,000 isn't exactly an apples to oranges. :) Thanks for the video!

Great review and playing! I played this recently and it felt awesome, a bit lower volume unplugged than I expected tho...but still amazing. I'm currently updating our best Taylor guitars article, would you be interested in giving us a short email interview on your thoughts on Taylor 814ce? I would love to feature that and this video of yours on our site. - Teemu

I just tried the 814ce and K24ce Builders edition today in store. They are both absolutely great to play, they were so easy to play and sounded great.
The 814ce was really smooth on the neck and gave a nice bright and warm tone.
Also the K24ce koa in the store sounded alright.. the wood hasn't opened up yet, so the warm sound wasn't there for me, but in a few months or years it will open up.
I own a 724ce koa and if I were to compare the three, I'd say the 814ce is more smoother on the neck, K24ce is warmer whereas the 724ce koa is a little thicker and "has a bit more resistance to it, which is not really a bad thing.

@@nixinity3267 Thanks for feedback :D Since then I tried all of them in the store aswell. Firstly I bought 722ce, but after that I met Furch Red.... And bought Red Deluxe on the end of the day, just got luck for additional 20% off :)
I would say its closely comparable with 814ce, but a bit another tone, which I just liked more.
