Best cooking shows of all time there is no comparison you will never get another Keith Floyd he represents a time that is all but lost unfortunately and yet he himself was a unique character in his own time ...
This was filmed mostly in Plymouth, my hometown. The fish market was open to everyone back then including the public and it took place every morning on the Barbican, Plymouth. The Chinese restaurant you see at the end was Plymouth’s only Chinese restaurant at the time and it was called The China Garden. It was one of my Late Father’s favourite places to eat and he would often come from his showroom in Plymouth as he was one of the first in the city to own a UPVC window company known as Wunderplas Windows and he would arrange to meet my mother here and she would bring my brother and I with her and as small children my brother and I would have a Chinese pancake roll and a banner fritter with ice cream and golden syrup for dessert. This was in the late 70’s and the Chinese guy in the grey suit eating here with Keith was the owner and he was always there, always wore the grey suit and always came over to say hello as he knew my father very well… I’m 54 now and this was when I was around 7 or 8 years old and I still remember it like it was yesterday.
What a treasure! Thanks for posting this in full! I've only seen parts of the episodes. Could you please post the others in this series and the later series 'Floyd on Food' (1986)?
@@sensational_cellar8606 Not the crew, Sonia's son. I spoke to her just now and she said she hadn't met him before this onscreen moment... but then she also says he got quite a lot wrong about the whole encounter in his book too. 🙂
@@drumdrum8111 Thank you for the clarification Mr Stevenson! My mistake, he said he’d seen Sonia on TV before but you confirm this is their first meeting. Cheers 🍷 🐟
Keith Floyd opened the door for tv chefs but none of them can hold a candle to his style and artistic flair.
Been addicted to Floyd's cooking shows for years.
Floyd was the best -- my favorite chef/cooking show back in the 80s.
Pure Quality....beautiful!❤

I completely agree with you. There can never be another KF.
That is a real piece of nostalgia, the cars, the people, awesome!
No less the food.

Just brilliant
The first ever Floyd On programme
One of my favourite episodes of Keith. I love how the Young Ones start at the end. Thanks for sharing!
Where it all began!

Just casually walking inside with a Hake in hand.
But the wine must be chilled.
Mr Floyd RIP The main man ! 🙏

So lovely-dubelly. Precious.
"unidentified frying objects"
JOAN ARMATRADING IN CONCERT!
Steady with that Hake old boy!
I think this was his first show
His first pilot to be more exact. I remember the filming well. When they meet onscreen, that really is the first time they have met.
@@drumdrum8111were you part of the crew? Keith said they’d met before during this episode

such a shame we cut our fish landings off from their nearest market that loves their catch .......... now let mess over our farming
Cruel and selfish disrespect for sea creatures
Don’t be so stupid, humans eat sea creatures
