      @@RadReelingFishing My only day off is Mondays so I will keep looking. My favorite spot right now is the break at clearwater pier. Not from the pier but under it from the surf. Waters just cold enough to be annoying but still soothing on my knees. Getting old sucks.

    I like to use 6 lb test and a jig head made for crappie tube jugs. I hook them under the chin and the hook ends up just over their horn. The weight is barely visible that way. Heavier line will break the hooks but with 6 those sharp gold hooks are perfect. I caught a 38" snook that way, drifting a shrimp in Big Pass.

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  2 роки тому

      Pompano for sure in the major inlets. There may still be some Sheepshead around in the early part of April in the inlets, they generally are thick in the inlets during March because they are spawning. It all depends on the water temperature though. Snook, Jacks, Bluefish, Ladyfish and Mangrove Snapper are always around that time of year. Here are some April videos from previous years

    Sucks that your Minn Kota is having issues. My buddy is a marine mechanic and says that the motor is not saltwater rated nor has saltwater corrosion resistant connections. He said give it a good cleaning and put some dielectric grease on the connectors. Good luck and great content as always.

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  2 роки тому +1

      Wait, Old Town advertises that it's saltwater ready. I've also used the kayak for a year and several months in saltwater and there's no sign of corrosion damage. Thanks for watching. Yeah, I actually had cleaned all the connections prior to going out that day with canned air, electric connection cleaner and used the die silicon on the connections. I'm communicating with Old Town right now. I'll be posting an update when the issue is resolved. Thanks for commenting.

    • @aaronhiggs
      @aaronhiggs 2 роки тому

      @@RadReelingFishing right? He said the issue is the electronics not the build of the motor specifically. He said better connectors should have been used , especially since in a kayak you deal with spray and waves being so close to the water. He had to replace his in his 120 in 8 months of ownership.

    Do you ever have issues with spot lock facing you the wrong way, like into the wind, when you are trying to run your line down wind?

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  2 роки тому

      Great question. When fishing from "any" vessel on the water, with or without a GPS anchoring system, positioning can be challenging depending on the current and wind direction relative to the area I want to fish. In my many years of fishing with a traditional rope tided to an anchor, I can tell you that the spotlock system is 50 times easier to fish with. Just like with a traditional anchor on a rope I have to invest some thought into where do I need to spotlock the GPS anchor so that I can fish the area effectively. The great thing about the spotlock anchor is if I'm not positioned right I just push a button and move until I do get positioned right. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @denniskott8032
      @denniskott8032 2 роки тому

      I’ll lose a rig and then cut braid with a 2 ft leader… but should I have had a 20ft leader? Sounds a bit much… I’d love to hear a bit more about how you manage that stuff. Thanks for all you do!

    • @RadReelingFishing
      @RadReelingFishing  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the video ideas...I generally make my leader as long as my fishing rod. That way the mono doesn't reel onto the spool when I'm ready to cast. I use mono so it's not expensive to make longer leaders. Friends of mine use expensive fluorocarbon and generally make their leaders for lures about three to four feet long. Sometimes I'll use a swivel with a shorter leader, maybe 3' long or smaller. Here's a video of the different knots I use to connect braid to mono. ua-cam.com/video/Sx4BaVZ7HHs/v-deo.html
