Been watching through everything you have on the 101... 4 times I have read the book and on my way through my second audio book playthrough. I wanted to say some of the best content online! Another great vid! Interesting quote from RJ regarding male/female brains explaining the difference in the way men and women channel. ***Spoiler to follow*** This seems incongruous with Belthamel/Aran'gar's ability to channel saidin within a woman's body. This is what made me think channeling had more to do with the soul then the body. Has anyone had another explanation for this?
Thank you for using a spoiler warning! I think RJ would say that gender (or at the very least, sex) is linked to the soul and mind as well, and not to the body. Also, this is in reference to how they access or tap in to the Power, not necessarily which one they channel. I think based on today's views on gender, RJ might've thought differently about some of this.

If you appreciate nit picks though; saying the one power grants a "longer lifespan" _and_ "slower aging" is a bit redundant - again with "healthier body" and "resistance to illness". Gotta wonder if it would be worse to be burned out or to be stilled/gentled, to always be aware of what you've lost but at least your still tuned in, some might see that as a comfort in a spiritual sense, but some might say the ignorance of being burned out is "bliss", you might be able to adjust to a whole other mundane reality.
Well, those are technically different things. Older channelers literally look younger because their aging slows. They also live longer. Resistance to illness is similar to but not the same as healthier bodies.

I really hope this show achieves a tasteful but significant de-emphasis of the gender binarist themes. I could really go without hearing that comment about men and women's brains again. And I don't want my love for this series to mean that I align myself with terfs and sexists.
I mean, I don't think RJ's quote was sexist. Men and women are physiologically different. Also, the strong themes of binary gender are a major part of the Wheel of Time world and metaphysics. That said, I think they will be careful to show "equal but opposite" in the show.
Probably Rafe Judkins, he doesn’t seem to like the fact that there is a male and female side to the pattern, that would destroy they narrative he wants to push.
Spoiler And yet Nyneave is the acception.. she is a wilder and is the strongest female.. and pushes those limits several times.. yet doesn't burn herself out.. so I think her and Egweane must be slightly ta'veran as well
