👋😃🎉🎉🎉 Don’t forget our pact… I am here for you three times each week and you comment on every video. Which self-care missions will you choose for this week - 1, 2, 3 or 4?
I think #4. We have had winter snow and rainy season along with that. I'm ready for some Spring beauty. And may just buy a bouquet 💐 bc I can't keep plants alive lol But they're so pretty 💝💐
Clearing out my late husband's stuff has inspired me to become a minimalist. He was a hoarder and never threw anything away. Last week I destroyed bank statements from the 1990's before we even met. I've been through a garage and double wide trailer and have another garage and shed to go through. I have no children and have vowed to not put my nieces or nephews through this ordeal. I did pamper #1 this weekend.
Wow…..huge job….so glad you pampered yourself. It must be so freeing especially as you can do it without anything (reasons for keeping) holding you back
#1- For years I’ve listened to you talk about having a pamper basket and thought it was a lovely idea but I never took the time and care to make one for myself. This week I’m making a pact with myself to put one together with my favourite hand creams, a journal, noise cancelling headphones and a treat or two!
I had forgotten about FlyLady! I followed her back in 2003 - my son was 10 years old and was admitted to Great Ormond Street Hospital for an operation. I remember putting on my lace up shoes during the night to help him! 😅 Over the years that followed FlyLady helped me so much and I kept returning again & again. For some reason, I felt I could manage without her … how wrong could I be! My house is now in need of a complete cleaning overhaul 😅 I have not kept on top of it due to ill health and lack of routines. My son is now 30 and getting married, my daughter is living in London and I think it’s time to get sorted! Thank you so much Diane for your wonderful, upbeat videos 🎉 I’m determined to make 2024 the year I get back on track ❤ xx
A big part of my self care is watching you! I love thinking ahead to the next week on Fridays, as well. Here is my motto for 2024, with apologies to Henry Thoreau: If I advance confidently in the direction of my dreams, and daily endeavor to live the life I have imagined. I will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.
I’m 29 years and I love watching your videos for cleaning motivation- love your energy! Also appreciate the “if we have grandkids” comment, shows a real respect for your kids’ autonomy and choices. Keep pumping those pompoms Diane! 🎉
Last year I started doing Swedish Death Cleaning after I purchased the book, The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning by Margareta Magnusson. It sounds very morbid but I found it to be very satisfying. One quote in the book that really struck me was, "... death cleaning is something you should do so that your children and other loved ones will not have to deal with all your stuff." I remember cleaning my mother's house after her death and it was a burden. It often causes problems with other siblings and family members as how to divide the items or throw them out. Thank you, Diane, I really appreciate what you do to help each one of us!!
My self care includes watching an episode, or part of an episode, of Midsomer Murders! I also enjoy sitting with a cup of tea in my cozy spot and reading. Thank you for always encouraging self-care, Diane!
I’ll be doing 2 & 3 (card making)this week . I just wanted to say, I have now completed a whole month cycle of the FlyLady/Diane in Denmark from Zone 1-to Zone 5/1 this week. I can see a huge improvement. My DH last weekend didn’t tell me that his sister and family who were visiting from other state, were coming to our house to visit. We had been out all day and were going straight to their hotel to pick them up so no time to dash home and tidy up. In the past I would have stressed, but I had completed my morning routine and that week had done my weekly home blessing, so it was a surreal feeling. Thank you so much Diane for simplifying things this year, it’s really working for me 💖👏🏻👏🏻❤️
I actually made sure I got together with a friend last weekend. Our intention was to go to a movie, but we decided to just keep chatting. It was wonderful!🎉🎉🎉
Going to add a "pamper basket" to my minivan. Maybe I'll find myself hoping the kids' soccer or musical practice runs late so I can enjoy a few minutes of "pamper me" time instead of worring that the schedule will be thrown off. Working towards making a life I dont need a vacation from. Thanks for the inspiration!!
I am all in for needlework, candle and a movie. Long ago I started Fly Lady but it wasn’t till I discovered you a few years that I really got it; I was able to develop and strengthen that declutter muscle along with refining the system to my own life. My house is company ready within minutes.
Think I will buy a pot of flowers. Thank you for your encouragement as usual. I hope you get to 100k followers. I remember the excitement of you getting to 20k.
Another great week Diane ... thank you! My self-care was to watch the movie 'Groundhog Day' on Groundhog Day (Feb 2)! 🙂 A question for a future Q&A segment: Is your entire family multilingual? What language do you speak in the home? What about books/movies? Is everyone comfortable/flexible with English? It's very impressive to me. I hope you are enjoying your weekend!!
Just realized how much “taking care of self” is in your daily routines. I would like to incorporate more of those things that help make life calm. I think I’ll doodle for some fun.
A happy coincidence today, at cards , a friend brought us all a potted flowering primula to take home...hygge with no effort..such a thoughtful thing that made us all smile.
Oooh, what great choices! I have repositioned a mobile into a living room corner where it will be more visible and get a bit of heat updraft that will move it more. I’m also going to look at a couple of neglected knotting projects and decide on their future, perhaps while watching a rediscovered DVD of “Annie Hall” before decluttering it.
I bought a new plant and I’m shopping my house. I also did something creative by arranging roses in a vase. I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to look at them and care for the plant. Great suggestions, Diane. Thank you.
Shop my house for Valentine’s Day quilt for living room and buy potted flowers for kitchen. Your flowers always make me happy and this self help activity actually helps me add it to my life. Thanks!
I bought some daffodils and have put them like you on the window at my sink. Felt I needed a pick me up as feeling the dark month of January was getting to me. They will cheer me up as I wash the dishes. Thank you for your motivation.
I love the exchange party. It looks like some much fun like eating. I like ideal how you all work together to bag up the donations. So much fun!! I think of you everyday as I declutter daily, I like short term decluttering, Joan
I shopped my house & brought out some artwork by my mother-in-law that has been hidden away. She died in 1967 and I never got to meet her. It’s now on display on a shelf in my living room.
Your encouragement keeps me going. This week I tackled my out-of-control office and caught up all the filing. Long overdue! Thank you for cheering us on!
For self care I’m being creative. Daughter #4 showed me a crocheted top and I’m making it without a pattern. So far it’s looking pretty good. Have a fun weekend Diane. See you Monday.
I combine my self care of a couple of baths a week with watching you. I have been watching you for several years now but not really got anywhere with routines. I'm putting this down to serious sleep deprivation. My son is 3 now and still wakes at least once a night. This is a vast improvement on a minimum of wake ups. Anyway since a week of work mid Jan where I dedicated time to decluttering the kitchen, I am now becoming more consistent at moving stuff out the house 5mins here and there, maybe not everyday but this is finally a start! Thank you, Diane, for being there ❤
I really enjoy being a minimalist and now that I am older I find it far less stressful to keep things in the house organized and cleaned. We are working this weekend on a short list of things around the house that we have been putting off for a couple of months in preparation for the Lunar New Year on Sunday. Have a good weekend everyone.
Happy Friday….every 1st of the month I shop my house and change a little something around. So that was yesterday’s self care. This morning I spent a few minutes choosing and ordering my library books for the month.🌸
I’m reading Richard Osmans whole 4 books atm. Love them. Part of my self care every day. You totally brighten my life Diane. I am similar age to you with kids same ages doing same things, flying the coop, setting up apartments etc. Busy being creative atm and sewing cushions for my son’s outdoor setting he bought second hand. Giving it a joosh up!!!!!I xxxx thank you ❤
Very, very interesting….and I loved that you shared some memories and stories around your things and the Danish customs. I loved the sweet sheep…and Bunny and Clyde….and all the natural eggs you gave away and donated. I love your no waste donating and give aways.
Fresh flowers in the family room thanks to my hubby❤️ And refreshing my “pamper pouch”- I use a zipper bag for my pamper items so if it gets knocked over or off my side table nothing falls out 😃
I have been working along with you in the Zone 5 (Livingroom) this week, but then today I realized that I should be working in Zone 1 (Dining Room), also. Thank you for explaining that this week has two zones.Today I quickly did some cleaning in Zone 1. I washed windows, dusted furniture, cleaned sliding door track, and several other projects.
Happy Friday, Diane!!! I’m watching you in the evening. We are expecting a snowy weekend here in Nova Scotia. My self care this weekend will be knitting. I finished my toque a few weeks ago, now my Husband wants one. 😂 Have a wonderful weekend! See you Monday!!!❤❤❤
2 and 3 Watched good old Bridget Jones with my daughter while almost finishing a quilt for my other daughters birthday ( started in 2020!) Think will need a few more DVDs tomorrow as about to see on the binding!
Instead of Journaling I am doing 'Letters to my children' where I kind of journal thoughts that I want to tell my children. I hope to be able to give them a little book some day 😍
@@DianeinDenmark oh Diane 😍you just made my day! I learned so much from you and I kind of hope to be a little bit like you when I am at the season of life you are in 🤗. We wish you a lovely weekend and I will meet you next week 😘
Hi Diane, I’m finally recovering enough to get back to some house work. I worked in my closet and dresser today and now I’m rewarding myself with your video and a cup of tea! ❤
Cleaned the stove top and vent while listening to you. A job I have been avoiding. Pink looks so good on you ❤ self care- cup of tea, candle and I'm going to put on a movie since hubby is out of town. 😊
Happy Weekend Diane! I was introduced to the FlyLady when my kids were very young. That system helped me to survive Lol I love this new focus of Simplify and Thrive - it helps keep me on track! I'm doing #2. Thanks for all you do!!
1. already have my pamper basket/cosy nook but this was a reminder to sort and restock my basket. 2. already working our way through the dvd's, bingeing on Supernatural currently. 3. two handmade birthday cards, the left front of a knitted gilet, and the start of a knitted dog jacket to keep my 20year old cat warm. 4. swapped some of the bathroom candles and some of the bedroom plants for some of both in the living room. has changed the whole house, even the kitchen feels different somehow and I didn't do anything there. thanks for the continuing motivation
My self care will be reading in our formal living room. This room is so seldom used. Will also fill up the bird feeder, as they've finished eating all of the berries on the Winterberry Holly!
I love all the self-care ideas. I'll be doing #3 this weekend. I have a very old paint-by-number kit that I figured the paint would be dried up, so was going to try some markers on it. Turns out the paints are fine, so going to give it a try!
Diane I will be doing something creative this week. Probably going to sew on my sewing machine. Love watching the British shows on TV for a good laugh too.

Good decision! @@edelinprogress

Hi Diane! Watched Friday video on a Monday and I am planning on self care #1 Cozy Nook. Now off to watch that one!
Beautiful quote! And I agree-this channel is my self care too!💕
I agree with the first sentence!
I’m 29 years and I love watching your videos for cleaning motivation- love your energy! Also appreciate the “if we have grandkids” comment, shows a real respect for your kids’ autonomy and choices. Keep pumping those pompoms Diane! 🎉
I just accidentally cleaned the kitchen while listening to you, Diane! Thanks for whatever magic you’re weaving!
LOL! Love that, Niamh!
😂 I do a lot of things "accidentally" but I don't think I have EVER cleaned accidentally! Woohoo, go you!
Me too!

Being creative is part of my daily routine. I need at least a couple of minutes of art therapy every day. Usually it’s in the form of art journaling.
Thank you, Diane. A spring pot plant sounds very tempting. Those colourful flowers do bring a lot of joy 😊. Have a nice weekend, everyone.

I think I'll fine tune by basket by my favorite chair for my self care this week. Thanks, Diane.
#1 change to healthy snacks in pamper basket & #3 get started crocheting a baby blanket for expected great grandchild.
