The meteor shower charge being absent makes the SB version noticeablely worse and less unique imo. Where Frontier's orange espinas with charge up more frequently and have more variety of charge moves he could pull, SB's is a nuke charge with an occasional follow up.
They might have remove that move because is something only an elder dragon would do, like Fatalis. Now there is less bullshit around while fighting the monster.
@@thatnoctutnallizard4600 I'm glad all moves that got cut, got cut. They are all essentially "get off me" moves that you have to run away from for 5 seconds, which imo don't really fit in with the gameplay of Sunbreak. His nuke essentially already does that.
Subjectively, he's ok at best. Sunbreak made him into a fearsome powerhouse but suffers from being a little bit too predictable. In comparison to Frontier, Orange Espinas was naturally intimidating that gave new meaning to feeling weak and defenseless when you even approach the damn guy. I sadly didn't get that in Sunbreak as much as I wanted to. But for what the experience is worth, Orange Espinas is decent.

really wish that the "ultra charge death combo" and meteor storm came back, especially since magnamalo basically already has the first one. definitely appreciate the hazard version of the fight bringing back the instant charges and making the fireballs faster.
Is likely they add moves from other monsters to make it stand out more since those aren´t planned to be introduce to the main series. Or if they do they might get new movesets. I like how Espinas stomps twice like an angry todler.
You think A7 star afflicted mons get an afflicted Garangolm style super nova? Maybe Flaming will get his Hyper Ultra Greatsword lvl 3 Charge burst back, missed that thing tbh.
It would be neat, but I kind of doubt it. Even Garangolm's nuke isn't actually restricted to the afflicted version (it's just a lot easier to knock the normal one out of that state before it gets to do it).
It’s so sad orange espinas got mega nerfed when he was made into flaming Espinas, it no longer scares me to even be tapped by him anymore. I can take hits fine, with orange Espinas I have to be very careful cause even in ZP gear he one shots to near one shots. And his attacks deal so much damage if standard guard without any specific guard skills it takes chunks off your health anyway
Yeah he was a completely different untamed beast in Frontier. Don't know what fear is? He'll gladly teach you. Nerfed in Sunbreak, but still shouldn't be underestimated because he still has that power from before. It's just not as potent or threatening
Iirc the pulsing green is unique to the Hard Core variant of Flaming Espinas in Frontier. Regular Flaming has more yellowy highlights, but they’re overall more orange in SB
waiting for the meteor adaptation in rise but sadly didn't get it, that move scared me when i hunting this monster even if i'm using halk pot for 70% dmg cut anyway is it just me or rise espi is slower compared to frontier espi?
I like sunbreak better, orange espinas have a lot of opening in frontier but he also loves to spam one shot shit. Yes its very easy to block and evade them, but youre bound to make mistakes sometimes, that's why true guts+status immunity is basically mandatory for comfy run. I also like flaming more because he simply taunts a lot more.
Could you do comparison videos of afflicted vs non-afflicted monsters. Like there speed differences or if they have different moves cause some like the garangolm have like 1 or 2 new moves.
Afflicted monsters are just enhanced versions of normal monsters with Malzeno's shtick. There's really not much to compare other than tankier health skins and high dps. And I've fought plenty of them to notice that there's nothing different, attack wise
Okay why didn't they bring the frontier moves over to Sunbreak?! That launcher in to the fireball nuke is perfect for wirefall dodging! The bite tail slam is really lame compared to the frontier exclusive moves! Sigh.
I had this theory regarding Frontier and the mainline series that may or may not have been re-kindled by the appearance of Espinas in Sunbreak. The theory is that the world of Monster Hunter is far larger than even the Guild fully realizes, which could explain how it could support a large number of predators with the median size being that of a Rathalos or Rathian. The Great Dragon War and/or Ecological Calamity did such a huge number on the ancient civilization(s) that they were forced to retreat to the continent that the mainline games take place on. Meanwhile, the rest of the planet was reclaimed by nature over thousands of years, and the lands men, Wyverians and Troverians once walked were claimed by monsters. These monsters would then begin competing with one another, evolving and growing more powerful over the generations. Inevitably, however, some weaklings might escape being killed by their stronger brethren, and would retreat to the lands of civilization as a safe haven of sorts. However, the fear never goes away, and is ingrained in their animal brains. This instinctive paranoia over being attacked might explain why Sunbreak's Espinas and Flaming Espinas are so much quicker to completely wake up - they fear that if they don't counterattack quickly, they'll be killed. tl;dr - The monsters of the mainline games are the weakest monsters, and the Frontier ones represent the majority.
They did a good job of bringing over espinas and his orange cousin. Stayed true to the monsters power in frontier without going overboard. I really like that they added some moves similar to other frontier monsters too.
What scares me the most is that hammers water strike can block the nuke intirely. No chip damage or anything.
It's cause Water Strike isn't a guard. It's an I-frame move. It's very similar to foresight slash from LS.
I know but you have to imagine how scary that was trying it for the first time
