how is that 144k and not even real leather everywhere? thats a big let down to me. 3lt in the c8 gets you Napa leather and suede combo literally everywhere except the floor and under the steering wheel column
The materials in the GTS are actually better quality than napa leather and suede. I've seen C8's with low miles that already have wrinkles in the seats and look like they have 40K miles on them. Real leather isn't all it's cracked up to be.
I'm generally not a fan of Porsche but I can still see what others go gaga about w/these cars; they offer fantabulous performance, they've got an iconic appearance- yeah, yeah, I got it. But better than a base vette? At $140g's, plus the outrageous maintenance costs for Porsches, I gotta say a solid 'NO.' One could almost buy 2 base Vettes for the price of one Porsche 911 GTS.
The question was which gets "better performance", and the Porsche does hands down. Cost/benefit analysis is subjective. Performance on all levels is far more objective. Yes, you pay for Porsche's performance, but having owned both, the 911 outperforms the Corvette on almost every level. Yeah, you pay for it. Yeah, that price is not worth it for everybody. However, to me, it's a no brainer on pure performance.

I went with the C8, the integrated targa roof and price to performance...it won my money. That being said, the 911 or a GT4 were right there on the list, C8 is just such a bandwidth car, do it all!
@@rbpbmnike yep the manual is a good tick for the 911. But a DCT on track is faster and let's me keep both hands on the wheel. My Daily is a manual, and at normal speeds I love it. At track speeds I prefer the DCT and focusing on Throttle/Brake/Steering inputs at 8-10 tenths
Very few, if any, production performance cars have the advantage of Porsche’s half century of refinement. I’ve driven Porsche’s most of my life so I have a clue what the company regards as ‘expected’ for their production cars. Perfection is subjective but they really do accomplish it. I’ve driven a few different vintages of 911 and each of them had jawdropping performance. I can only imagine this one’s is similar.
A lot of people bring up the price difference but don’t bring up the specs the 992 carrera s has less hp and a slightly weighs 200 lbs less than the c8 however the c8 has a better power to weight and beats a c8 corvette pretty badly in a straight line even with rwd and on the track the same thing to the 992 gt3 and the z06 the gt3 has a far worse power to weight than a z06 but these two in track times are significantly close even though the gt3 is down on power by a huge margin
Not true. In fact Corvette got a better lap time at Nurburgring than the 911 Carrera S (992). Also motor trend did comparison on the two head to head and acceleration times were pretty much the same
@@markw9512 vette is nice, but small inside.. I dont fit.. also the 911 S is faster, watch on throttle house, they race them side by side.. Even on Edmunds they raced the C8 against the 911 base model with only 379 hp and they were side by side... GTS is more HP than model S but I havent seen any real quater mile times raced yet, supposed to be 10.8ish... vette is showing 11.2 to 11.3ish.. want to see Z06 numbers !! will be in 10's for sure.
@@twfinc6855 The one from throttle house was privately owned and I believe to have been modified. Motor trend tested two, not one, but two Carrera S against the Corvette one with the manual and one with the PDK. Have a look. And also consider that that is a higher level model versus a base Corvette. Also there are only a few tenths difference between the 9/11 and the Carrera S in actual tests, so it would certainly be close to the Vette, I believe they just nicked it in the last race in the Vette. And Porsches launch control is definitely better than the C8, I will give them that, so that definitely helped. Z06 numbers are already out. All three of the major American magazines have tested it and it’s a screamer, 0-60 times in the mid 2 sec range, 1/4 miles in the 10.5 range. Also, Amelia tested one and I believe she ran a 10.5 second quarter at 131 mph. 👍
@@markw9512 wow great times for the ZO6 ! As for the 911 I dont think they would put a modified car against a stock corvette.. thats just wrong.. But the edmunds test kinda showed the base 911 was about equal with the vette, maybe a wee bit slower and the 911 S has another 65hp.. Sometimes its who gets the jump that matters and even fractions of a second can matter.. regardless I dont even come close to fitting in the new corvette, and you see them everywhere now, the 992 911 not hardly sighted ever where I live, and I fit so thats the car I want (no choice really).. A lot of the time it just comes down to personal preference and fit.. Im 6'5" tall, end of story lol
I was hoping you would do a side by side comparison with the C8. I admire Porsches immensely, but my ‘22 C8 has so many of the very same features, but I “only” spent $96k instead of $144k. BTW, I love the Twinkies jokes…
I apologize the Porsche fans but can anyone explain how can one justify such an expensive car over the 2023 Z06 naturally aspirated V8? The Vette with Z07 package looks so fking good both from outside and inside and has better performance except may be in handling where Porsche are better. The Porsche doesn't even look like a 150- 200K car to me. Yes, if they sell there 911 for 100K, I'm all for it. Don't say price doesn't matter. It matters to 99% people. This it even a question, Porsche over the C8 the price tho it would be this to a C8 ZO6, that is a different story, probably the z06 over the Porsche and that’s crazy because I never thought I would take a Chevy over a Porsche
So I’ll make a comment that won’t get flagged, Few cars elicit that “I WANT” urge more than a Porsche. This 911 GTS (in siiiiillllverrrr) really does stand out. The plastice piece with the lights on the rear window represent the new generation of the 911 which in this case is the 992. 9 on both sides with the 2 lights in the middle.
I don't care much for what amounts to a luxury grade Volkswagen, but i grudgingly respect Porsche for not abandoning its traditional customer base to chase after a completely new demographic that doesn't appreciate anything except how fast it is
For $140,000.00, I would go with the C8 ZO6 fully loaded. All that plastic you see in this 911 would be carbon fiber or leather in the C8 at this price point.
The only concern is the exhaust sound. C8, especially Z06 is much better. Wish they would have put the 4.0 engine in this. This is why I ordered the 718 GTS.

Nice review of a great car. This tops the C8 Stingray but I think most buyers would cross shop the Z06 which is closer. Still think I’d go for the GTS though. They should call it Goldilocks spec.
Z06 2-3 year wait and $50k ADM... that's McLaren, GT3 money. The ADM's ruined the value proposition of the Z06 and people are nuts to pay $200k for a Corvette.
getting warmer ... still waiting for the GT3 RS and an in-depth review of its functional design; am happy with my 991.2 Carrera; remember to use 2-bucket method when you wash a car of this calibre - want to prevent swirl marks in the clear coat; part of ownership experience with these vehicles - an obsessive attention to detail (no pun intended).
I agree that this gts is an all around top performer when compared to the C8. But to compare it head to head with a C8 it’s just in a different class. If the z06 could ever get into some phase of normal production, from the reviews I’ve read I feel lt would equal this porches performance and price. The sting Ray is a better bang for your buck for the regular guy everytime.
Good review. Bravo. Briefly perusing through the comments, having owned Vette's and Porsche's alike through the decades, one thing becomes abundantly clear. Attempting to convey the dynamic and overall quality-of-the-drive differences to some of these die-hard Corvette fanboys is akin to Michael Jordan attempting to explain basketball to a fork.
I dont fit in a corvette but easily in a 911.. plus the gts is faster, and is top of the line for handling, vette has some understeer issues but GM did a great job with it, probably best value sports car out there right now overall.. the New ZO6 is going to interesting to see the numbers it puts up in quarter mile etc.
The gts is NOT faster wtf are you talking about bro? The base c8 goes 0-60 in 2.9 seconds. The gts does it in 3.1 seconds with the pdk and 3.9 seconds with the Manual. So faster my ass😂 it is nicer though
@@darkhaven9119 well Porsche says 3.1 lol... they are always faster. Also I have seen the corvette computer measure 2.9 but vbox and draggy testing is showing 3.1 to 3.3... Hence the low elevens in quarter mile and not in the 10's like everyone thought it would do...... the GTS real world testing is showing 10.9 at 126 mph quarter mile... So yes its faster, the vette gets around 120 mph in quarter mile.
@@darkhaven9119 and its just a friendly discussion.. Im a buyer of a corvette if it was the right size for me.. I always wanted a vette, but just too small inside, my german heritage is messing me up, and I fit in mercedes, BMW, and Porsche the best.. So anyway, I want to see more numbers, I can see the Z06 numbers coming up are amazing and its destroying most cars. I tend to be very unbiased, i have owned lots of cars, Im 55.. anyway have a great day !
@@twfinc6855 yes I know that. At best a gts can go 0-60 in around 3 seconds flat. Still slower. I do like it more though and when a car is that fast that’s such a small difference it doesn’t matter
@@darkhaven9119 actually the 4S does 3 seconds flat. Like you said I think its not much difference with the vette... If I end up buying a GTS, I will take it to the track and where I live there are corvettes all over the place so will likely end up with a race against a C8 on the quarter mile, that would be cool... its really dependant on road conditions quite a bit, but AWD is definitely an advantage.

how is that 144k and not even real leather everywhere? thats a big let down to me.
Porsche always make beautiful performance cars 🔥
You hit the nail on the head!
The best pastime..driving..ultimate in freedom..great vid man
I'm generally not a fan of Porsche but I can still see what others go gaga about w/these cars; they offer fantabulous performance, they've got an iconic appearance- yeah, yeah, I got it.

The pocket rocket Porsche!! Love it simple and clean design!! Hope have the money to buy it!!
I went with the C8, the integrated targa roof and price to performance...it won my money. That being said, the 911 or a GT4 were right there on the list, C8 is just such a bandwidth car, do it all!
I daily my 992 GTS. It can also do it all, but I would still choose a 911 GTS over a c8 just for the fact that you can get a manual transmission
Thanks for sharing that thought process.
I like the way that you think!
No matter how good German cars are, American cars are #1 for me 🇺🇸
This car is F*cking gorgeous!
Trust me I know how you feel!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.

It’s actually 992 for design on back.
9 slots on both side and 2 lighted in middle. = 992
I would love to see some real numbers posted in quarter mile versus C8 corvette times..
I’ve yet to see a 2022 992 GTS under $160K - and that’s before the “market correction” that is anywhere from $40-60k.
So I missed the part comparing with c8. Click bait.🤔
I'm curios how this compares to the Cayman GT4. Thanks for his review Joe, co.
I bought a super clean CPO 2013 boxster S instead for 1/3 the cost of that GTS and it's a canyon carver with the mid engine. I dropped it down with KW coilovers and couldn't be happier.

Nice review of a great car. This tops the C8 Stingray but I think most buyers would cross shop the Z06 which is closer. Still think I’d go for the GTS though. They should call it Goldilocks spec.
I’d take a Porsche over any Chevy lol 😂
Z06 2-3 year wait and $50k ADM... that's McLaren, GT3 money. The ADM's ruined the value proposition of the Z06 and people are nuts to pay $200k for a Corvette.
getting warmer ... still waiting for the GT3 RS and an in-depth review of its functional design; am happy with my 991.2 Carrera; remember to use 2-bucket method when you wash a car of this calibre - want to prevent swirl marks in the clear coat; part of ownership experience with these vehicles - an obsessive attention to detail (no pun intended).
Stay tuned I will have it coming!
C8’s are ugly in person. Looks like a Chinese Ferrari
C8 CORVETTE ALL DAY
Good review.
The C8 is a really good Sports car for the price but a Porsche is on a other level, it´s not possible to compare it with a cheap GM car.
Awesome car. Porsche makes the biggest shifter knobs lol. Great video!
Nice one my man👍 been waiting for something like this. Corvette? Not a chance.
I like the way that you think.
