Delicious and Spicy Cabbage Soup Recipe for Beginners

This cabbage soup recipe is so easy that even a beginner cook can make! Even if you don't like spice, this recipe can turn into a dinner staple in your house! For a mild version leave out the red pepper flakes and change the can of rotel to an additional can of diced tomatoes. Still super delicious, but easier on the palette. This soup is ready in just 30 minutes! You can even do like me and prep almost everything ahead of time to speed it all up. This soup is perfect for a rainy or cold day or when you just want something easy and cheap to fill your belly. Enjoy! Total cost of this dish (not including homemade bread) was $13.50!!!!! This makes enough for our family of 4 to eat on at least twice.
Cabbage Soup Ingredients:
1 1/2 lb ground beef $6 (93/7 on sale for $3.99/lb at Albertson's)
1 medium onion, diced $0.70
6 cups sliced cabbage, raw (about 1 medium head of cabbage) $2.78
10 oz can of Rotel (diced tomatoes and green chiles) $0.97
15 oz can diced tomatoes $0.97
16 oz box beef broth (4 cups beef broth or bouillon) $2
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp oregano
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 -1 tsp garlic
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

@EverydayTexasLife it actually holds up really well and it's a great way to use up leftovers in your fridge... I've thawed the soup and added leftover chicken, ham or beef for a whole new dish 😀 and any fresh produce that is about to expire is also a great addition... the cabbage soup almost becomes the base to a new dish 😀
