You should talk about tofu! thanks for all the info! I appreciate that you talked about the environmental impact too so that we know not to eat too much avocado!

I started my second attempt at the vegetarian life a few months ago and went full vegan just in the last month. I just found your channel yesterday and I'm soooooooo glad! I cant stop watching 😂 It's so much easier to stick to when you're educating yourself about nutrition and exploring yummy recipes! You're such a blessing, thank you!! 🙏❤️☺️
Brittaney Lewis welcome to vegan! It’s awesome! Another cooking Chanel that is great is “whole food plant based cooking show” and “cooking with plants” both are super healthy. 😉🙌🏻👍🏻
Avacado pit is definitely worth it,high in anti oxident, vitamin E and collegian, which is hard to get from plants I grind them and put them in every thing, keep them in freezer next to ground flax
A whole avocado. A few rice cakes, some oil free garlic hummus. Great meal/snack for me. So tasty. Usually have a few cups of hummus in my fridge at all times. When avocados go on sale loose I make some guacamole and perserve it with some lemon or lime. Lasts for 2 days. So good. You can also freeze avocados too. Yeah it isnt good to eat very many avocadoes, coconuts, or other plant based products with a higher fat content. often a lot of resources go into producing foods like these. Palm, cocount, almond, walnut, hazelnuts, avocadoes, etc... We can either use our current resources we have more efficiently(aka not letting them go to waste) or make the effort to eat more locally and support farmers who support mixed farming. We need food forestry and we need it soon.
I have found glass containers keep avocados for a day or two with very minimal browning! I leave the seed in it and store it face down in a small glass container. I love avocados!!!!
You guys are toooo cute! Love it if you could do something about mushrooms....health benefits and so many varieties! What kinda to use in certain dishes!
Your message is so important, thank you for making people conscious of what they eat, I'm from France and so many people aren't aware of the ecological impact of the avocados and each time I hear "Avocados are great" I'm like "noooo please !" People who know and SAY that avocados are not magic and that their qualities are contained in other foods are so scarce !
So so thankful that you did not only mention the benefits of the avocados to our health but also the environmental impact of this super food has. Love your videos!
We call it Coriander here in Australia too Derek! I love, love, love your very informative videos and your really great recipes, thank you from a fairly new 76 year old Aussie vegan, please keep them coming.
Chocolate avocado pudding is sooooo good. Also you can make icing with it!! I’ve fed choc cake with avocado frosting to my omnivore friends and they praised it, had no idea ;))
I generally don't hit the like button, but the major exceptions are the videos you and Mike the Vegan make. I like them before I even watch them because more people need to see them. Also, you have totally inspired me to get back to experimental cooking! My son was born a few months ago and I've been making simple one-pot recipes in my instant pot. And I love them, but I miss taking over the kitchen and trying new things. Thanks for being such a positive and kind voice, and for suggesting so many amazing recipes! My husband thanks you too 😁
Another great video! For those who don't like cilantro, please give it a try a COUPLE OF TIMES,I never liked it before I went plant based, but in love with it now.It gives any dish this fresh ,fancy taste .My husband told me "it taste terrible but I ate because I know it's good for me lol
I love my avos!! Couldn't agree more about it being heaven on toast. I'm a kiwi so we love our marmite. Avo spread on toast a bit of marmite, tomatoes, pepper...its beautiful. I'm loving your videos. Keep them coming!
Cool video! Good info too! I want to share a tip. Put the seed into the guac. Yes the whole seed into the guac, it will keep the guac fresh for much longer, no turning brown!
I really enjoy these videos- another tip you can use the avocado pit to prevent browning and another tip when checking them press around the stem instead of squeezing them to prevent bruising
When I lived in Brazil, everyone ate avocados there like a sweet fruit, not savory like a vegetable. Slice it open, take out the stone, squeeze some lemon juice on it and sprinkle a bit of sugar or drizzle some honey on it. Scoop it out with a spoon. Yumy!
My friend told me about you a while ago. Just started paying attention to you and all of your light. Wow. Awesome. Keep shining and many blessings. And yes, A bit of cumin in a chunky guac is killer.
So growing up I would not touch Avocado. Then, I learned about Mexican food and got into guacamole and loved it but still would not touch plain avocado by itself. Then, 12 years ago I stopped eating meat and started appreciating more veggies. I tried avocados again and couldn't believe how creamy and delicious they were. Now, I absolutely love them. I use them in place of mayo or cheese most times. Here in AZ they are cheap because we are so close to Mexico and California. Thanks for mentioning the fair trade option. I still think we can come up with some way to grow them sustainably without causing problems to the cultures that grown them. Obviously there is still room for improvement. Maybe we can grow them on all that land is used for cattle if we can stop animal agriculture.
Woah!!! This is the kind of content that is truly helping people and veganism. I had no idea the socioeconomic effects avocado farming had and I learned so much from this video. It goes so beyond nutritional value and recipes! Thank you for the knowledge, Derek!
I recently found your channel cause I'm a newb in the Vegan world. I just have to say I love these information videos because I love to do research on things. Yours is always so informational, and educational.and even funny at times. Keep up the good work I love them 🙌
You can also keep the avocado seed in the bowl or with the other unused half (inside the refrigerator) and it will prevent the avocado from turning brown.
My parents never ate avocados so I never had them when I was younger. Only to find out they are the greatest thing on earth. I still hold it against them to this day.
My parents never ate avocados but my grandmother did and I love them then too. But after she no longer lived with us I haven't had one till I an adult.
Wonderful video! I'm glad you showed both the pros and cons of avocado. Avocado has been my favorite food for almost a decade. While visiting Hawaii and working in a permaculture garden there for three months, I saw many avocado trees, they're so amazing. One tree in particular in the middle of a village was way over 100 feet high, perhaps 150 feet high and 100 feet diameter, it was huge, and there were thousands of visible giant avocados on it! We filled up a big bag in "no time". Love to you both. :)
Several years ago I brought homemade guacamole to a party. I didn't have enough avocados, so I added green peas. It actually turned out pretty good, and I got lots of compliments. Have a Happy Cinco de Mayo.
following you for about 2 years now! im a vegan activist and i love you, your videos and what you do. incredible work and energy bro!! i would love to meet you some day 😁💚

I love that you brought up the ethical/environmental aspects of the avocado boom of those past few years. I live in Japan and there are no ways to get fair trade avocados here as far as I know, so I gave them up 8 months ago; still having some when eating outside though. Keep up the great work!
Wow, I heard about avocados having some impact, but didn't know to such extent. Awesome video Derek, you and Crystal, even for a few seconds always bring joy! Never stop!
I really appreciate the environmental impact statements, I will be sure to use my avocados on time, maybe not just buy them every week because I’ve had a few spoil. Someone’s already probably mentioned it, but if you store half an avocado in the fridge, make sure it’s the half with the seed then you can just wrap it and it’s the same as the lemon juice, it won’t brown for a day or two with the seed left in🤗
My mom used to tell me it was the most nutritious part of the bread, then I found out that it's all the same so I protested crusts for a bit, but I'm back into them now.
I'm from Spain so I buy avocados from Spain to avoid the cartels in South America. They're more expensive and can be hard to find without plastic, but it's worth it! Can you do a video on purple cabbage? I've heard you mention it a couple times but I'm not very creative with my recipes. I always fry it with mushrooms and this vinegared spinach sauce I make and I love it, but having that multiple days in row can get tiring. I'd love some new ideas! I love your videos!
In Summer (if you like vinegar) you can chop it very finely and marinate it for a day or so in the fridge, then use it in salads. In Winter as a sweet dish you can stew it till soft and add applesauce with some nutmeg or maybe some other single spice you like. It's almost like a dessert. But you're right, it's a food that takes some effort, but it's super nutritious and so cheap!
You can make sauerkraut with it. I use 1 tsp of salt per pound. Smash it into a jar, wait 5 or so days. There are plenty of recipes on YT. Then you have it for your salads.
My favorite way to eat avocado is “sushi toast”. I do avocado toast with toasted sesame seeds sprinkle of tamari and some crumbled seaweed on top! So yum!
Love it>> Avocados are so good>> Love the video>> It was so helpful>> I loved the great avocado ideas >> Love your energy always>> Thank you so much Derek~.
You are so totally cool and fun and educational! Thank you so much for educating me about avocados and I will pass it on. I feel so guilty about wasting them in the past, just by forgetting about them on the counter and letting them rot. I only buy two occasionally. However, thanks to you, I will treat them like the treasure that they are and try to do my very best to never waste one. Thank you so much about the fair trade issue as well! I learned so much from your efforts in this video. Keep doing what you do so well!!!
I eat 1 avocado per month, here in Croatia organic avocados are expensive at least in mine opinion.., thank you for informativ videos, I am not vegan but I apply some of your philosophis in mine diet.., greetings from Croatia, keep up the good work!
Actuall very nice info after watching the whole thing that salsa looks delicious not sure if the chips sre whole grain baked chips or not hopefully so. I would propably go with Sprouted whole grain bread for toast,. Can't wait to make some.
Guys, avocado is, along with seaweed, the best ingredient for hair repair. If you have any problems with fall, burned/damaged or dehydrated hair try to put on a bio avocado, coconut mil and grapeseed oil and let the magic begin. Oh! and it is a mask so let it do his work by staying on your hair for some minutes. Do this some days in like 2 to 4 weeks, and you'll feel amazed. Peace love and compassion to all. :) Derek, you rock! Much love and cheers from Portugal!
That’s interesting! Growing up, we were fortunate enough to have a huge avocado tree in our backyard alongside a couple of papaya trees, banana tree and jackfruit, too! And we didn’t have to do anything to the trees other than to enjoy the harvest.
Ur right! Watching u washing veggies. No go please. Also the simpsons was great. Love this video. These are my favorite videos i always look forward to having them
I really like the direction your channel has taken mono-focusing on each food (see what I did there? LOL! your mono-focus is very helpful though!). AND I love the little background you give on the items. Thanks! I shared your channel with my son. He's really diggin it. All the best!
I've make a chocolate mousse with my avocados. - Haven't made it for a while, but I put an Avocado, chocolate protein powder, cocoa nibs and some water. Or you can add some cocoa powder & some stevia or honey to sweeten it up a bit. I like my protein and the protein powders are often sweet, so it adds a nice flavor along with some protein & some healthy fats with this awesome fruit! I blend it up with an immersion blender and Mmmmm!
Very informative video! Thank you for mentioning the “dark side” as I had no idea. I will definitely be more conscience when it comes to eating this decadent treat.
You are god-sent or angel-dispatched to me. Anthony William, the medical medium saved me by curing me from GERD, hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s disease, vertigo, fatigue, brain fog..... But I was (almost) lost at figuring out what to eat for breakfast lunch and dinner...until I found you! I’ve been telling all the people around me to read medical medium’s books to heal. And if they don’t know what to eat after reading the books, they should watch your video. Or they could just watch your video to eat healthy. You are my favorite UA-camr.
so just to clear up some confusion slantro is the plantIs coreander is the seed When you buy slantro micro greens you can get slantro and coreander together. I know because our farm grows slantroe. Just thought I would throw that out there
Love your videos!! They’re very informative 👏🏻 In Brazil we eat avocado as a fruit. We make avocado smoothies with milk. Sometimes I just cut the avocado in half, add some agave on top and eat it with a spoon. Soooo good! 😋 but excessive eating avocado or any high fat food causes me acne so I can only eat it once in a while 😭
This whole thing was informative and fabulous. I wrote down your recipe. Plus, you two are so dang cute!!! I clicked the 'like' button. Thank you for your consistently excellent content. My family, friends and I appreciate it.
Just started watching your channel, loving the content! So much great in depth info on nutrition and health. Love that you are really honest with the details such as talking about the bad side to avocados and not just pushing the good bits. Great content, great energy and very motivating. Keep it up!

I put my fruit in the airing cupboard, it's nice and warm in there.
Avocado toast was my breakfast for the past 2 weeks
Im about to enjoy some right now. :D
Great & informative video as usual! Love how you also incorporate environmental & social aspects to raise awareness. Keep up the good work Derek :)
Thank you!
so just to clear up some confusion slantro is the plantIs coreander is the seed When you buy slantro micro greens you can get slantro and coreander together. I know because our farm grows slantroe. Just thought I would throw that out there
Thank you for being so honest about this
AVO IS LIFE 🥑 Maaaan I am so excited for you to reach the big 300 :D So deserved man and loving this series so far!!! MUCH LOVE BROTHER!
In Brazil, I grew up with Avocado smoothies. It's the bomb.
Made this recipe today, pretty delicious, I ate it on sour dough toast, so good.
Love your videos!! They’re very informative 👏🏻
In Brazil we eat avocado as a fruit.
If I hv a half left I just keep the half with the seed still in it and cover it ...and refrigerate it and try to use it within a day
Guacamole is my fave avocado food!!! Suggestion for a video, pomegranates 👌🏼
