    Glad you went back to this amazing place. It seems all the TV and movie cars I grew up with were made by George Barris. His hand-written notes are indeed special. 🦁🐕🦁

    So true about lack of “sense of community.” Long ago (60’s/70’s) not so much. We once had free parking at the beach in many places! LA is a rip off, not just cash wise but soul-wise.

    • @Fandango541
      @Fandango541 6 років тому +2

      Totally! I was going to write the same thing but you already did it. LA was never a place to feel like a hometown community. Neighbors who never smiled when I said "hey" never responded, turned away, etc. I thought, am I looking like a space alien or what? LOL At work it was different. I became friends with just about everyone so I would chill with them. In LA the rule was: throw a party, invite 100 people, only 3 will actually show up! It was true!

      You have Prop. 13 to thank for the lack of public expenditures.

    Barris didn't build the original General Lee or BTTF DeLorean. He had legal issues in '07 if I remember. Here's a snippet of an article talking about it. Bob Gale, a writer and producer of “Back to the Future,” said the special DeLorean used in the film was designed by Ron Cobb and Andrew Probert, and was built under the supervision of special effects supervisor Kevin Pike and construction coordinator Michael Scheffe. Since Barris’ version of the movie car carried emblems and appeared in his collection, the studio felt that Barris was misrepresenting the car’s origins, thus denying credit to its original builders.
    The studio has since filed a cease-and-desist order that Barris stop making “misrepresentations regarding any involvement with the ‘Back to the Future’ films,” The LA Times further reported that the studio demanded Barris remove all images of a replica movie DeLorean from his Web site. Barris was also told to restrict his display of the “Back to the Future” replica, which was built by Barris’ shop for a customer.

    George Barris was involved with so many famous movie/tv show cars. Great that the family is making these items available for fans to remember his work and legacy. What a collection of so many different items. Love the tunnel from Back to the Future and Roger the Rabbit. Thank you Jordan for taking us there. You brought home some cool things.

    I'm amazed at all the random stuff he has. Like Satchel Paige. He was phenomenal baseball player but he was one of the many things that were different in there.

    A great presentation! I remember my dad taking our family there to see the cars in the 1960's! George Barris was quite a talented man.

    Cant believe it was one man who designed all of these iconic cars etc. and he was relatively unknown. It must have been a wonderful life to create so many cars for Hollywood. A dream life !!!

    What a treasure trove. You purchased two of the things that I would have jumped at, they being the viewing party for the 60th Academy Awards and the poster of the Tub Mobile. Gotta love the toilet as front seat, Barris had a great sense of humor.

    One of the original four 1966 Batmobiles that Hollywood car customizer George Barris built for the classic 1966 Batman TV show, starring Adam West and Burt Ward. The #4 Batmobile was restored by Fiberglass Freaks, a company in Logansport, Indiana.

    This brings back so many memories of when I was growing up . I saw Adam's video the other day . I was telling my husband and my son in law about the car with the soda fountain shop chairs in it . I had to share this on Facebook and my husband watched it with me . I have never see the bathtub car before. That's cool...!!
    I agree , I get so tired of being charged for everything . Can't go anywhere without having to pay for something. Thanks Jordan and Jau for the great vlog.

    17:00 very good point. Born and raised in Los Angeles. While you moved to LA I moved out of LA. The odd thing is that now i enjoy LA a whole lot more. I visit often and roam free with out a schedule to keep or worry about the high cost of living. It’s the best thing I could have done.

    Awesome vlog. Would have loved to see if I could have bought something. George was a great man in the custom car business. He also seemed to be a nice guy. Great stuff available. The seats in the U.S. Mail car look like ice cream parlor chairs. I was thinking a lot of that stuff will end up on Ebay for a lot more than what the people paid for it. Scary going through the tunnel. Glad you're driving. You didn't think George's place was "calm"? LOL. The green things are the "pods' for the pod people. LOL. Thanks for the great vlog. Dude! Thanks for another wonderful Vlog. Hey, I lived in NoHo for 12 years and the Barris building was located on Riverside (or I think it was Riverside Drive). Is that where this was? If so, my condo was just three blocks north of where you were, on Camarillo St. It sure looked familiar as the underpass for the Fway was just down the street from the Barris showroom. I love your Vlogs!!! They always make my day.

    The lack of a sense of community is because-among other factors-LA is 450 square miles & people are not socialized because they drive everywhere. It’s very expensive to live here which is stressful. There are 8 million people here now. That’s a lot of people. The key is to do just what you did: Associate with people who you share interests with, small clubs (LA has tons of small groups centered around the entertainment industry), and groups. Have reasonable expectations. This isn’t a suburb. Enjoy and I love your videos.

Love car shows especially rods and customs & saw the Batmobile at one Good Guys show. I wonder if Barris did the crystal Rolls that Liberace introduced on stage with um...his new chaffeur? The signed Hot Wheels would have been the perfect gift for a special person no longer here, hence the wishes reference. Thanks, stay cool😎 Yay Jah!!!!!!!
