@@couchtvenglish Holy cow. I remember running across photos of him in this but never knew what it was (pre-pre-UA-cam) Thank you so much for this link. Yeah, he gives MJ as himself a run for his money here! Fantastic.
Yes, Mick is actually recounting mostly his first Beatle impressions, the parody doesnt need over-egging, as the real events in context are just as amusing.
This is about the closest you will get to Jagger's impressions about the Beatles. This is the most open he is about their 1960s rivals. To this day, I have yet to see McCartney and Jagger sitting together chatting about the old days.
“ ...in early 1965 the Rutles played the world's first outdoor rock and roll concert at Che Stadium, named after the Cuban Guerilla leader... Che Stadium."
There is a documentary about the making of this movie. It's on You Tube, or at least it was at one time. And they say from Mick's perspective he was talking about the Beatles as he knew them and just replaced the word Beatles with Rutles. This movie is the inspiration that Rob Reiner had to make Spinal Tap. What makes this movie so good is it's believability, playing it as close to the bone as possible. And to make it believable they had to include people such as Keith and Paul Simon.
Now watched this to the end, and it has increased my respect for Mick. He is doing all the work in this - and what for?! Just for fun, let's hope. And a glass or two of Chardonnay.
I truly have enjoyed and belly laughing at the Rutles joyful parody of the Greatest Rock Band in history. The one and only Beatles. Melody and lyric creating genius...
I think he's adlibbing and improvising and drawing on his real memories of The Beatles. They even joke about that when he mentions The Cavern. The interviewer says you mean The Cavern Rutle or something like that and they smile because Mick is mixing in real history.
he's a bloody good sport. :-) He gets better as he goes along. As he gets into to it more (and gets the names right) ... and as he has more tea, I think ...
"Yeah but why are they calling the Beatles the Rutles?" ...Just kidding - 'All You Need Is Cash' is one of my all time favourite movies. Enjoyed these out-takes.
Think he hade smoke something in tjis intervju 😅see that in his eyes.Littel strengh way he sitt on the cough sova lije a indish man❤he like India very much and the yoga they have there.❤❤❤❤buth he is lowely to listen ath❤❤😊
Omg, rock the casbah is an sdfghjkl;'aasdxs!@#$%^& awesome song. Why did you remind about it like that? Now I'll need to go and listen to that immediately. And y'know you can't listen to it just once. The damn song asks to be listened to on and on forever until you're high and all "rock the casbah"
Gobsmacked at Mick's Preston reference, as an ex-resident of said ex-town. How long has he spent there in his life? Aficionados may know if they played there back in the day? EDIT: At least once, it seems! 1964: www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-rolling-stones/1964/public-hall-preston-england-1bd6f5a8.html
I commented here six months ago and then watched more of the mockumentary on YT. Rutlemania! Lol. Though it was aired on NBC 3-22-78 I missed it back then. Mick looks cute, and I love the accent, but why does he appear to have such orange-y lipstick on??
Mick is totally baked on Tea in this interview.
I had tea.... and biscuits.
He might have been on the cucumber sandwiches.
This is so gold.😂
Lots of Tea
He invented herbal tea as rumour has it
These moments when Mick is this close to bursting out with laughter.
This is so funny- Mick playing himself being Mick.
Shows he has sense of humour.
His greatest acting role. By a long shot.
+haysfordays He should probably smoke up before every role if this and Performance are considered his best acting work...
Performance was, for me.
Strongly disagree! ua-cam.com/video/sUFjrKDZvII/v-deo.html 😉

"' Mick, all you think about is fuckin' sex!'" hilarious yet accurate. and his attempt at a liverpool accent omg
THIS GUY IS INCREDIBLE !!!!
how does he keep a straight face sharing his fond Rutles memories?
This is about the closest you will get to Jagger's impressions about the Beatles. This is the most open he is about their 1960s rivals. To this day, I have yet to see McCartney and Jagger sitting together chatting about the old days.
Jagger was never a particular friend of McCartney. Why would he be? He was much more interested in John Lennon.
Yes, interesting clip. I remember watching the film in a tv screening when I was around fifteen, such a brilliant Beatles pastiche and loving parody.

His answers are quite interesting when you take it he's talking about The Beatles.
beatles? try rutles
Eric Idle the interviewer: "Do you think The Rutles will ever get back together again?" Mick Jagger (scared) : "I hope not."
Amazing!
Adoro os Stones eles são o máximo
He has had tea,Indian tea...and biscuits.
I didn’t personally run after them.🤣

Bloody Brilliant!
'Is it really the Rutles - might be somebody else.'
I think he's adlibbing and improvising and drawing on his real memories of The Beatles. They even joke about that when he mentions The Cavern. The interviewer says you mean The Cavern Rutle or something like that and they smile because Mick is mixing in real history.
Mick is great! 'Sgt Rutland..........."!!!
I love him in this❤❤❤❤❤intervju he is himself and no other❤❤❤😊😊Love you for you are you Mick❤❤❤from Marie❤❤❤
Happy birthday 🥳🎉🎉🎉🎉
Mick is so cute.
He's over the top on Tea...
Cool interview.
I'm laughing so hard. 😂😭
pretty sure they paid him with dope....before the interview!!!
I'll say no they didn't! Probably going from the night before? Or maybe hungover?
*tea
I want to know more about that board tapping thing. They sort of glossed over that.
he's a bloody good sport. :-) He gets better as he goes along. As he gets into to it more (and gets the names right) ... and as he has more tea, I think ...
OOOHHHH LOVELY MICK, always has great hair!!
Jagger with no stress
were you affected by ruttlemania... I DIED..... this is too funny
Just brewed up.
"We're down here for board tapping, not sex!"
You can tell he is just totally amused by giving this absolutely stupid interview... classic Pythonesque humor...
Mick has been at the medicine cabinet!
"Yeah but why are they calling the Beatles the Rutles?" ...Just kidding - 'All You Need Is Cash' is one of my all time favourite movies. Enjoyed these out-takes.
'When we went to Preston, they would boo us.' He's catching on. :)
He has a sense of humour!
It's a technique known as "acting."
I think it was the trousers
I wonder what the present Mick thinks about this clip of him, when he was just a lad.
He'd probably say, 'rubbish' Mick4Ever
He's like a Rainbow!
😂🌈😂🌈
Rutland Weekend Television from Idle and Innes - I think that`s the reason for the parody name The Rutles.
Ooh thomas is on to something 🙄🙄
Congratulations, you win this week's star prize ... a star.
good information for people who've just discovered this movie
I just want to know what brand of lipstick 💄he's wearing. 😚
@SummerCircus91 Its from a parody movie on the Beatles, called the "Rutles."
@SummerCircus91 This is a 1978 US made for TV movie which was the brainchild of
Monty Python's Eric Idle. It is a parody of the Beatles.
Satire.
Holy shit those lips!
Lol, the last few seconds..Mick is away with the fairies.
High or not, he looks really comfy.
1978
No No 1971
@SummerCircus91 the rutles are a parody band of the beatles. they are unrelated. the locations, however, are the same.
Hilarious. Mick trying, and not succeeding, to keep a straight face.
Quick. Hold my joint while I do this interview.
Funny!
Sgt. Rutter!
Two birds each.
Clearly all the Shea stadium bits couldn't be used.
1.32 its difficult to remember especially since i'm totally smashed. He He HE...! Peace Out.
Surprising depth and pathos. Mick is recounting his inferiority complex vs the Beatles here
Outta Thyme567 Bullshit Lennon was always jealous of the Stones and Mick he knew they were infinitely cooler than the Beatles
@@Mike-gn4un
Lennon had no sex appeal as a performer!
I think do he was jealous of Mick in that regard 😂
Think he hade smoke something in tjis intervju 😅see that in his eyes.Littel strengh way he sitt on the cough sova lije a indish man❤he like India very much and the yoga they have there.❤❤❤❤buth he is lowely to listen ath❤❤😊
It is called "carrying the joke".
Also enamoured by your name, Deltics1 - was more of a class 40 man meself!
Oh my gawd....are people so thick that they don't know this is humour?....I give up!
1977?
rip
The Rutles were probably more like the early Beatles than the Beatles were like the late Stones.

Held it in quite good, he did! I would have been on the foor 😂

He’s so wasted lol 😂

Ah, I see, that explains it. Thank you.
LOL! I think that they paid him in weed. Which caused him to eat the Cheetos!
You know, you have me very worried. You must be able to comprehend that this is not serious.
Red Lipstick ...make They Lip !!
Mike reminds me of Jamie oliver
Maybe the Rutles should have been the Rolltles.

Not Shea Stadium! CHE Stadium!
WHO ARE THE RUTLES??!🤣
Lol
AND...it's Jagger; I think he blew his lines.
Don Knotts the rock star.
I ain't got time to stand around here and discuss trivial trivialities.
Kay Boom 😂😂😂😂😂
Because its about The Rutles, NOT The Beatles. Geez.
Mick "Rubber Lips" Jagger.
acause...
Mick and he’s phony mockney accent! a
Mick is totally fucked up here.
