Can't get more fun than driving a slow car fast, squeezing every bit of grip and power out of a small econobox is the best way to learn how to drive a car.
And you're still faster in the corners than most folks on the road with their 2ton wobbly suvs. The only thing that is annoying in public is the tire squeal in summer with these 155-185 tires.
Exactly! Many years ago I had a 330i and I didn't feel I could drive it that well, fast. I sold it and as a stop gap bought. 1.1l, 3 cylinder Colt (75hp). Honestly I had so much fun it in, driving it on the edge it had zero torque and I learnt to carry speed through the corners, be smooth etc, and finally heel+toe. 😁
I have one since 2000. It’s slow af but quite fun to drive. Absolutely no grip at all, rear end moves too much, there’s no seat support during corners and the steering ratio is the same of a bus. But it’s very reliable and cheap to run
That must be the new record of Nurburgring in, at least, three ratios: 1 - hp/laplime; 2 - car value/laptime; 3 - fuel spent/laptime. Very entertaining! 😁
For me even on twisty country roads something like this is more fun than all these new high torque monsters with sport badges. That is if you care about speed limits. This you can wring out without risking your permit or life immediately.
One of the reasons why I want to build a Saab 900 MK1 with a swapped Wankel engine, once I got the money and the time. Super light and enough horsepower for the track.

I had a 1999 1.0 1sz-fe engine code and abused it like crazy over revving it on downshifts staying on redline for a long time to the point the exhaust manifold was glowing bright the only issue I had with it is one coil pack failed. The car was super slow but it was the most fun car I had/driven had the car for 4 years and just abused it every time I drove it only other issues I had was a broken rear spring from jumping the car and it broke the exhaust to.
The mk1 Yaris chassis is genuinely really good, makes for a very fun track car, especially once a T Sport model with a bit more power than the eco beast has been properly set up 😅

In that time it cost me a set of tyres and front brake pads + usual oil, coolant and brake fluid. I sold it to a friend who put another 80,000kms on it with no issues. Sold on and still running great. I have another one now '1.3L' I've lowered it with some stiffer springs and fitted a set of lightweight 15x5.5" wheels-16" wheels would cut the weight down more but 16" tyres are a lot more expensive here and also didn't come in a suitable size. The grip and road feel is more like a larger more stable car now however as it's short and very light in the rear a decent swaybar and softer tyre pressure helps. Don't go overkill on tyres, the less weight you have to spin the better, I've seen lots of guys buying 7"-7.5" wheels and running wider tyres. In the rear this will only make the car slide, in the front the car doesn't have the power to justify the fatter tyres. Keep in mind factory rear tyres on these cars are narrower, this helps with wet grip and prevents aquaplaning. Bloody fun cheap banger to learn from.

I have the facelift version of this yaris with the diesel 1.4 which is mapped and decatted and it pulls good with the torque. It beats Vw/audis with the 2.0d 103kw.
Love driving slow cars fast. but they main problem with my 1.3 Swift is the seats offer no support. I find myself steering with one hand and holding onto the seat with the other hand (on very tight corners). Quite dangerous but it’s almost like a natural instinct. Love it tho, especially on highway exits
That video was good never knew a stock mark 1 Yaris could do so good
0:23 the e36 ticking😂😂

Actually I miss my P1 Yaris so bad.. It was such a fun car to drive around the corners. It got beaten so bad to the point where my rear wiper fell off. Last day we took it out to jump around in a mud pit and it was still going strong.
idk anything about car but this is so fun to watch
Sounds like a lot of fun. This is what counts.
I have one with the 2nz engine. I was surprised of how good it handles
The epitome of slow car fast. But I want to see 10:03 in third person lol, which Nurgburgring channel caught that 😂
my Yaris was half your price. Should i come to nur too?
This is the best "Bang for your buck" car💪😂
I've got a few cars including a 1995 Nissan Skyline...but my 2003 1.0 Yaris is so much fun. I use all the "power" all the time lol also if sumthing breaks...its cheap 🤣
