  • Our system is dysfunctional. Politicians spend all of their time fundraising. Lobbyists and special interests have gamed the system to advance their agendas. Nothing is getting done in our country.
So, how did we get here? The short answer: Corruption.
Watch Ed Helms and RepresentUs CEO Josh Graham Lynn break down the root causes of corruption in our political system, and how we, the people, can fix them. Join us: act.represent....
RepresentUs bring together conservatives, progressives, and everyone in between to pass powerful state and local laws that fix our broken elections and stop political bribery. Our strategy is central to dismantling the root causes of inequities in our Senate, Congress, and beyond. We fight for democracy reform to end political corruption, extremism, and gridlock.
We’ve passed over 156 anti-corruption laws, from anti-gerrymandering and ranked choice voting to sweeping ethics and transparency laws.

The fact that this took a year before I found it on TikTok is insane. Why are there only 91k subscribers?

The fact that this video was so so buried by the algorithm. It genuinely terrifies me about the state of large “industry”. There is so much hard shouldering by government, but especially by politicians who are trying to better their personal lives. As opposed to those who are trying to selflessly help others. And strangely, each politician believes they are doing “good work”. Politics is sneaky, even to the politicians who do it. It’s the system that’s flawed, not the politicians. Most ordinary people would fall into the same trap, when it’s the fundamental system that fails us.

This message was clear and the argument for prioritizing voting reform was well laid out! As a Forward Party supporter, I hope that FWD and RepresentUs are willing to combine their powers and efforts to accelerate this movement.

@@UXtatic If the so called Forward Party is to be truly legit, it needs to stop taking corporate money. Otherwise, I have grave doubts that it is nothing more than a tool to actually sabotage pro democracy movements.

Whether there is zero percent public support or one hundred percent public support, the level of public support effectively has no influence on what Congress does. 3:05

Frankly, with media as it is, some of this won't be successful as long as corporate capitalism exists. But represent us probably is a prerequisite for solving much of anything.

I hope and pray Represent Us gets some money. This is the only organization that I have found that is people run and actually cares about we the people. Stopping corruption should be covered by every major media outlets yet it does not since the 1% who own everything do not want us to become educated on what is going on. Thank you so much for this effort.

Even with Ed helms, a video on the greatest issue facing North America has only 1.2k views?? Am I Actually going insane or were those people laughing at the issues that have been destroying lives around them for years? Laughing?

I agree 100% but I also see a lot of fraud celebrities that clearly hold outspoken polarized ideology represented in this video. That is also at the crux of the problem. It’s hard to get ordinary people to jump on board when they see people involved that are clearly not executing through their words and actions on the public platform.

donating to democracy is controversial and can make the right wing media damage your reputation, donating to democracy can also lead to those causes being themselves shaped/corrupted by big donors, and then there is also the fact that a lot of these big donors are just looking to improve their image by giving to education or health after acquiring their millions in questionable ways, not looking for real solutions. if they just paid their taxes there wouldn't be a need for their charity. also ranked choice voting doesn't really get rid of spoiler effects and is only slightly better than the current system. but I completely agree with everything else in this video.

Great talk, but misses the most powerful solution of all: an identity-vetted troll-proof social media platform to (1) hold elected officials directly accountable to their constituents, (2) eliminate the need for dark money, special interest pandering and massive time wasted on fundraising, (3) enable grassroots debate and vetting of issues and prospective political candidates, and (4) moderate online discussions with AI tools that enforce good-faith rules of conversation. DM me for more.

So they want all the states to think one way and then for the federal government to make it the law of the land. Instead of having each state choose their own way, so that we truly have a choice. So it won’t matter if we live in California or Texas the federal government will make it the same everywhere. No thanks!

Ranked Choice voting SUCKS! It disenfranchises voters and splits votes of same-party candidates to elevate a different-party candidate, even though each of the same-party candidates beats the different-party candidate in a head-to-head matchup. Essentially, it pushes the third favorite candidate above the top two candidates when the top two are from the same party, by splitting the vote. Plus, tallying the votes from a ranked choice election is so complicated it takes twice as long, which leads to voters becoming suspicious, and often results in the incorrect winner being declared (see the 2022 Oakland, CA school board race).
