Finally got my ultimate hybrid a week back in Mississauga. What a beautiful car, great value and super drive quality. Great review guys it was you that I decided to buy this. @motormouth you guys rock.
We just put a down-payment on the hybrid ultimate last weekend, and we only did after test driving it with the intention of buying a lower trim level. The quiet ride was one of the biggest things, and the camera for your blind spots when signaling left or right. They said it will take 6-8 weeks (Alberta) so 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 We didn't plan on buying but needed a new vehicle unexpectedly, and I was always a Toyota girl. I was really pleasantly surprised and my research has showed Hyundais are reliable.
Can't thank you guys enough! I started looking for a hybrid in March of this year, and stumbled upon this video. I purchased the Tucson Hybrid, Limited on 5 April and love it! Better than I expected. Thanks for your great review!
Yes, that is true for the gas model. We were talking more about the Hybrid in the US which has the base model Blue Trim, SEL Convenience and Limited. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the excellent review you two and THANK YOU for answering my question on Instagram and in your coffee segment too! It was surreal to see my name while watching the video this morning 👍👍👍
Thank you so much, really glad you liked it. Thanks for participating, we love interacting and answering questions from our followers on IG. Thanks for the support!
@Level 70 My 2007 Santa Fe is the most reliable car I've ever had, period. Get over on the early 2000's Korean vehicle hate. The first Honda's imported weren't reliable either.
An actual real world fuel economy test between all the hybrids you mentioned in this video as well as driving impression comparison would be a great video idea.
I really enjoy all of your couple car reviews - they're very entertaining! 😁 Great job Zack & Andrea. If I may offer a suggestion... for the Tucson Hybrid and some of your other reviews I would have liked for you to comment on front seat comfort/adjustability, vehicle ride quality and overall handling ability. Would also have liked for you to comment on/describe the cargo area in the new Tucson. Thanks, and keep up the great work with these terrific videos!
Love your tag team reviews. You guys are great together! The Saturday morning release timing is perfect. I make a cup of tea, relax, and settle in - it is my way to start the weekend, every week. Thanks, guys!
I am getting one of these at the end of the year, but I have opted for a Manual transmission rather than an Automatic transmission. I live in the UK and have opted for the Ultimate. Love the reviews.
Your reviews are quickly moving to the top of my list! The new Tucson is stepping on the toes of the Santa Fe. Wheelbase is only 0.4” shorter, rear legroom is only 0.4” less, however cargo room behind the rear seats is 2.2 cu ft more than the Santa Fe! Tucson is missing a few features from the Santa Fe including: heads-up display, driver 4-way power lumbar, driver power extendible thigh cushion, acoustic laminated front door glass, and wi-do hotspot (at least in the USA). Looking forward to your Santa Fe hybrid review!
Thank you so much, so happy to hear you are enjoying our reviews and format. We can't wait for the Santa Fe Hybrid, the review will drop next Saturday. Keep an eye out for it. :)
Hi Guys, loved your reviews! First saw the Tucson Hybrid at Olympic village by False Creek. It was Monsoon Grey and it was stunning. Had to do a double take. So pretty. Then your review came out and after test driving it, can confirm how nice it is overall. Very impressed with the power and smoothness. We placed an order for the Ultimate trim. We currently own a Lexus RX and Honda CRV, so this will be our first foray into Hyundai. Keep up the great reviews!
Good review. I enjoy your videos. I’d add shots of the rear storage area and folding down second seats for space. Lots of questions about this so I’ll go on their website. Thanks
I agree with you, a powered liftgate should be pretty much standard on all but the very basic model. I am sure people would be willing to pay the extra $ needed to get this option, so include it in the price and be done with it.
I disagree. I have a power liftgate on my wife's Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. It won't open from time to time, when it does open, it is slooow to open. Give me a manual hydraulic strut liftgate. Opens extremely fast, always reliable.
I definitely agree! Hyundai has created another winner. In fact, I think this is way better than the Rav4 Hybrid. The Tuscon Hybrid has a conventional 6-speed automatic transmission rather than CVT, it has the power, mechanical AWD rather than e-AWD, quieter interior, and better styling both exterior and interior. The only thing I am disappointed with is the price. I really wish Hyundai has brought in a base hybrid trim. I wouldn't have mine removing the power liftgate, panoramic sunroof, having the 8-inch infotainment screen, and removing the ventilated version of the seats.
Another great review! I may have to fly to NYC and drag my brother-in-law to test the Santa Fe and Tucson. Hyundai, Mazda, and Acura really seem to be at the top of their games.
So....no spare tire for the hybrid? Do hybrid SUVs (supposedly good for mild offroading) never blow tires??? Hard pass for me. A tire repair kit does not do the job for a serious tire failure.
Love all your videos! Bringing Andrea go almost all of them gave a very pleasant and dynamic presentation which I love. I trust and love your opinions. Thank you very much and please continue with the great content.
One good thing about no knobs/buttons is that it’ll be easier to clean, and you’re going to have to do it a lot with all that piano black. just keep a microfiber towel in your car and you’re good to go

To Zack & Andrea. It's very difficult, if not impossible, to find more than general comments on interior noise. For me, regardless of how well a vehicle drives or how beautifully laid out it is, if the interior noise is too high then I really have difficulty enjoying the ride. Very recently my wife & I took the 2022 Tucson (Essential) for a test drive on the highway. I thought the noise level from the driver's seat was acceptable, but when I moved to the rear passenger seat (behind the driver) while my wife took a turn at the wheel, I found a marked increase in noise level, to the point that I had trouble hearing some of what my wife was saying from the driver's seat. It can't be engine noise if I'm moving further away from the engine, so I can only assume it must be additional drivetrain and/or road noise. I wish you would comment on rear seat noise vs. front seat noise in some of your test drives - especially for SUVs (or hatchbacks) which tend to be noisier in the back seat than comparably-priced sedans - because so many families use them for transporting infants and small children in the back. Any feedback would be appreciated. N.B. When I mentioned the noise difference (i.e. front seat vs. rear) to the sales rep upon our return to the dealership, he stated that the Tucson Hybrid models have better sound insulation, but I couldn't find any proof of this statement in other videos or online literature, nor could we test this theory because there were no Hybrids on the lot to drive. I've considered adding a noise dosimeter app to our iPhone and going back for a 2nd test drive in the same Tucson to gather more objective data, but if you're able to find further evidence that the Tucson Hybrid models have better noise suppression/insulation, I'd love to hear about it. Great work on the videos!
Great review, I was waiting for your unbiased opinion. I remember 10 years ago I was looking for a new vehicle and bought the Santa Fe 2012 v6 for just under 26k CAD.... Prices of cars are nuts these days, but I will have to take a drive up to my favourite Hyundai dealership and take a seat in this larger vehicle.
Thanks for using my question in your great review. This would have been a no brainer instead of my Rqv4 Hybrid. I was comparing the old Tuscan with the gas 1.6 turbo and regular transmission before buying but didn't like the fuel economy. Way to go Hyundai! Can't wait till you review the plug-in version. Thanks you two!
@@HarshKumar-gg1qr I like my Rav4 Hybrid but I would have gone with the Tuscan Hybrid if available. Regular transmission vs my eCVT and better tech. Can't go wrong with either though. I'd take either over a pure electric too with the charger infrastructure in Ontario and our cold temps (bad for EV mileage). Good luck!
Hyundai / Kia and Genesis have the best headlight game in the business imo. The overall styling is so distinctive and definitely stands out. Hoping to spring for a Tucson Hybrid in the future (or Ionic 5 / Kia EV6 or Genesis GV70 Electrified). Tough choice...
I bought the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid couple days ago and absolutely love it. It is so quiet and such a smooth ride. One thing you forgot to mention is that the cargo area is larger than all of the competing hybrid SUVs mentioned in the video including the Santa Fe. My only question is. Is there a way to turn off the beeping noise whenever you put it in reverse?
I have a Hyundai Ioniq and you can’t turn off the backup noise because it’s mandatory for safety because people can’t hear the car when put in reverse. It’s just a hybrid thing 🙃
@@Chiroman527 I love it.Really surprised at how smooth the ride is and the hybrid is fast!. Previously had 2 BMW xi sedans the last six years; tested the X3 SUV..like the Tucson a lot more!
I just checked online in my local area. The Ford escape hybrid top trim is 44k and the Hyundai top trim is 43k, and the Toyota rav4 hybrid top trim is 46k. In my opinion the Ford doesn't look that good, inside and out. The Hyundai is bigger and better. My opinion about the rav4 is close to the Tucson, although not much for the cvt on Toyota. I'd like to see a comparison with Toyota and Hyundai. I mainly do highway driving so it'd be interesting to see what vehicle fits that duty better.
If I'm interested in the Tucson Hybrid. Should I wait for the plug-in version? My biggest concern is I could get the plug-in for a similar price due to the subvention program
I really really like your videos. They are very informative and how to help people in choosing the right vehicle for themselves. You two are awesome in making videos, cheers!!!
It may drive nice, but it won’t be as reliable or long lasting as the electric planetary gear ⚙️ set in Toyota Lexus hybrids. No belts, clutches or any other friction parts to wear out.
@@td3666 I like it! just drive 704 miles to GA. had to fill up 2x on the way down ..not bad. still learning all the bells & whistles tho! i’ve had it only since Dec 31st
NO Extra Volume knob on the center console, please! Also my hybrid SEL does have a circular knob for volume control! So I must’ve got a newer made model.
I drove behind it before and have no trouble seeing it. You have to drive so close that it is unsafe to not able to see it. Also, I find I notice it even more because it is so different from other vehicles-just my observations.
@@AkarliChan I had concerns about the low signal lights when I bought my Tucson Hybrid but I have discovered the same thing. They aren't really so low that you wouldn't see them unless you are dangerously close to the back of the Tucscon, at which point it is really on the person tailgating for following so close. It is really more important that people in adjacent lanes can see them anyway and that shouldn't be an issue either.
Andrea and Scott ! You guys are amazing ! I used your review as reference test drove Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Santa fe and Tucson Hybrid and I bought Tucson Hybrid AWD. I bought the middle trim though - SEL convenience. I miss leather seats but rest is so good. I am surprised how good Tucson Drives.

I booked the 2022 Tucson preferred trend and cancelled it to buy the Mazda CX-5, because it did not have the power liftgate, auto dimming rear view mirror, universal garage door opener, and the heated rear seats. If you don't need these, then Tucson 2022 is a really good buy.
Great review!! I've only had my Tucson Hybrid SEL Convenience for almost two weeks, and my wife and I love it!! Mine has a volume/on wheel that you can use to power on/off and turn volume up and down.
The plug-in version should be great, considering how you both are raving about this version! I can't wait for your review on than one, but this one sure is taking my eyes of a RAV4 Hybrid! Thanks for another awesome review!
I would like to see the taillight when people test drive it. All videos focus on the front lights. I found out seeing the real one, not all the lights are turned on. Some even say the red bar doesn't turn on. I thought all four lights include the bar turns on.
VERY Professional presentation....... and fun / enjoyable to watch!! Wife is not sold on the Hyundai brand but I like what I saw and heard. A lot. Still in the running for our next car, as far as I'm concerned. Just need to convince a significant other. Thanks! Cheers 🥂
Was really interested in buying this car until I saw where the rear turn signals are at their lowest point in the rear bumper. This is a major safety issue and also perfectly positioned to get broken with a minor bump, not to mention a big truck sitting behind you would never see them flashing. I'll just wait until this issue is fixed on the next refresh after a lot of safety complaints surface. We are a Hyundai family with nine vehicles but very disappointed in Hyundai's safety designers.
Anybody THAT close behind you is at fault. The only safety issue is the insane, following to close, driving of the driver behind you. 100% their fault! Noy Hyundai's, not yours. If they are following too close to see the pavement behind you, they are driving wrecklesly
@@ponymoonshadow I agree with you but regardless of who hit me I then have the aggravation of dealing with insurance companies, rental cars, body shops plus my time off from work which will cost me money that no insurance company will reimburse you for and all of this because a car maker decides to put turn signals too low. Thanks but I'll buy another brand instead that has less risk of being rear ended. As I mentioned we are a Hyundai family but we're not buying this model.
This new Tucson is a great vehicle but one gripe I have with the new lower trim Tuscon is the lack of interior colors. Only comes with cheap looking black fabric that feels like sandpaper if you don't want leather.
This is Hyundai's year. They nailed this. I'm sure the rav4 are not too worried, but I think the bar is raised. Prime vs the future e tucson, that should b interesting. Hope all software bugs r out. CRV update, good luck this will b hard to beat. Zach and Andrea, great review. Only suggestion show us the back (of the vehicle that is) and capacity. I bought the 2022 Tucson Luxury Hybrid in May of 2021..My wife and I both enjoy this SUV..It looks great, runs extremely QUIET.. The LED screens are excellent even in the brightest sunniest days we get here in the Okanagan.. Have a little over 1100 kms on it at this writing and the the mileage is averaging 6.5km per100... The transition between EV mode and the engine running is seemless, you don't notice any change until you see the EV light come on and the tach drops to zero.. great car, highly recommended.
@@brendanng8038 Hi Brendan. I have the new Tucson Hybrid. It runs on regular fuel. If you get it, you will really like it! I still can't believe how good and sophisticated this car is.
There's a difference between car reviewer's mindset and an owner's mindset. A reviewer drives tons of different vehicles, so a volume knob could be easy and doesn't need to learn. However, as a owner of 17 sonata hybrid, I seldomly ever used the volume knob although I got one. The steering wheel control of hyundai is much more convenient to use for drivers. They even have a mute button which is probably the only reason people want a volume knob. As of passengers, why would you want the unpaid passengers to mess with your volume anyway? 😆
Every time they mention a dollar amount my jaw drops. Then, I remember they’re talking Canadian dollars vs USD and go “well, that’s doable”. US buyer who follows your channel here.
First time watching your channel, and you two have a great presentation format figured out! Well done. Also, at least one benefit the Blue tier has over the Limited are physical volume and track rolling knobs. :)
My first experiences with the automotive industry started with Hyundai. I set up and prepared ‘Mall Shows’ for the during the Pony, Stellar and Excel years. I’m not even sure the Americans ever offered the Pony (every Pizza deliver’s first car). Hyundai has had quite the journey in North America. This new hybrid definitely stands out, especially with that grill and those rear indicator lights, but I find that they cannot stay focused and true to a Design Language. I wish they evolved their styling, instead of constantly trying to revolutionize their brand’s models. “Styles change, true style never changes”. Everybody can identify any year (and any model) of BMW, Audi or Benz... the same cannot be said by any of the Hyundai/KIA group of vehicles. Too bad... because I like this new one, but I don’t suspect it will age very well (styling-wise). Thanks for another wonderful review.

@@barbs1298 Your neighbor has great taste. Cadillac's are nice too and yes, they are expensive :)
Funny, Andrea's Mom just ordered a plug-in version last week and she has a RAV4. Should take a couple of months but worth the wait.
Can't thank you guys enough! I started looking for a hybrid in March of this year, and stumbled upon this video. I purchased the Tucson Hybrid, Limited on 5 April and love it! Better than I expected. Thanks for your great review!
Another big advantage this has over the RAV4 is that it has a real mechanical awd system! This new Tucson is a winner!
If it was only as reliable and dependable as a RAV4.
@@cdnbrit Time will tell I guess.
I use the steering wheel volume control more than the infotainment system knob. It is not a deal breaker.
In the U.S the Tucson trims are :
SE- base model
SEL-mid trim
Limited- top trim
The SEL is the best selling model in the Tucson line up.
This Tucson is amazing. This thing will beat the heck out of CRV and RAV saels this year
@Ken K The CRV having engine and battery issues didn't slow it's sales at all
@Level 70 Every brand goes through this so don't know why you're pointing it out.
@Level 70 I agree. Would definitely wait to see what happens with reliability, especially on a brand new vehicle.
@Level 70 My 2007 Santa Fe is the most reliable car I've ever had, period. Get over on the early 2000's Korean vehicle hate. The first Honda's imported weren't reliable either.
Keep dreaming

Wow, thank you so much! Really glad to hear this, thanks for watching.
I second that!
@@bill7481 Thank you!
Scotty says "I need knobs, I got to have more knob's" We agree
@Paul Attard It's interesting to see how car offerings differ from one region to another.
Can’t believe you guys forgot to mention the keyfob…and easy parking feature.
i absolutely love the car just the rear turn signal lights are too low and hazardous in bumper to bumper traffic
Another feature I like is the rear wiper, which is positioned above and not below. Hidden underneath the spoiler.
I don't think there will be a federal ZEV rebate for the regular Hybrid Tucson, but I'm sure there will be one for the PHEV Tucson when it comes out.
@@richardb9591 Oh yes indeed. I remember seeing the Pacifica Hybrid on there and just checked and that is a PHEV. Quite confusing name to it.
Another great review! I may have to fly to NYC and drag my brother-in-law to test the Santa Fe and Tucson. Hyundai, Mazda, and Acura really seem to be at the top of their games.
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the review.
So....no spare tire for the hybrid? Do hybrid SUVs (supposedly good for mild offroading) never blow tires??? Hard pass for me. A tire repair kit does not do the job for a serious tire failure.
A search on Tucson brought me to your channel. I love your format, the back-and-forth dialog, and including USD/MPG. Yeah, I clicked Subscribe.
Great, welcome aboard!
Love all your videos! Bringing Andrea go almost all of them gave a very pleasant and dynamic presentation which I love. I trust and love your opinions. Thank you very much and please continue with the great content.
Thank you so much! :)
one of the best reviewers out there keep the good work guys
Wow, thanks
Thank you very much, we really appreciate your kind words.
One good thing about no knobs/buttons is that it’ll be easier to clean, and you’re going to have to do it a lot with all that piano black. just keep a microfiber towel in your car and you’re good to go
Best UA-cam Car Reviewers! Your reviews are energetic and packed with info, I love them. Thanks for putting out such great content every week. You two are amazing!

Best car reviewers? LOL. Its always good to listen to many opinions but you should try Alex on Autos for a really knowledgeable reviews.
@@robertduklus6555 I have watched Alex on Autos and he's boring. I don't like his format at all, way too long. But, to each their own. These two are my favourite because they give a female/male perspective and they are very entertaining. I get all the info I need here.
Hi Zack and Andrea. Wonderful and comprehensive review...thank you so much! As a transplanted Western Canadian now residing in the Toronto area I love seeing the beautiful scenery you show us! Just purchased the Tucson Ultimate in shimmering silver. Unfortunately I need to wait at least 2 months for delivery. Thanks again and please stay safe!
Thank you very much, really glad you enjoyed the review. Congratulations on your new Tucson Ultimate, what a wonderful Hybrid. Enjoy!
Wonder how turbo charging and electrifying will do for reliability. Sounds like a lot of moving parts here. Time will tell
once again Hyundai has a winner on its hand...am really looking forward to your thoughts on the model coming of is based on this...the Santa Cruz..me thinks may be another winner,,always enjoy your reviews...great work folks
Thank you very much, so happy you are enjoying the reviews.
From what I've seen in reviews, that is the problem with the RAV4 as well...interior noise from the road & engine, at least on the non-hybrid models.
Thank you very much!
Thanks for watching and for participating in our segment. Much appreciated, really glad you enjoyed the review.
Hi Glen
should i go with tuscan in place of Rav 4 as it has a long wait time, please reply
Good luck!
Love the b-roll of you speeding through the endowment lands lol
I feel like this competes with the Venza hybrid a lot!
It should be a comparison.
Absolutely. We are going to release a RAV4 Hybrid and Tucson Hybrid comparison this Tuesday, keep an eye out for it. Maybe the Venza next.
you have volume adjustment on the steering wheel, you can do it man, try it. Up and down, push in for mute. Atta boy.
Great review. Nice to see the Koreans pushing the competition. Honda is slipping and Toyota must be looking very carefully at upping a few details.
Thank you so much!
Picking up my Tucson hybrid tomorrow!
I have a Hyundai Ioniq and you can’t turn off the backup noise because it’s mandatory for safety because people can’t hear the car when put in reverse. It’s just a hybrid thing 🙃
@@cajondrummer5875 Did you get It? How do you like it?
@@Chiroman527 I love it.Really surprised at how smooth the ride is and the hybrid is fast!. Previously had 2 BMW xi sedans the last six years; tested the X3 SUV..like the Tucson a lot more!
Getting mine tomorrow! Exciting!
i always use the volume knob on the steering wheel
Yeah, it isn't a big deal for me either. I'd prefer to have a knob, but not having one isn't a big deal.
And no passenger of mine is messing with my volume control when riding in my car.
I found that to be the easiest as well.
Wow I am the twentieth view here in Australia. Watching now. Love your unique views guys.Keep it coming.

I love watching your reviews always so entertaining and so to the point great job
Great review - can’t wait to see your review of the Tucson PHEV when it launches.
Great Video i am happy about my new car Tucson Hybrid
I just checked online in my local area. The Ford escape hybrid top trim is 44k and the Hyundai top trim is 43k, and the Toyota rav4 hybrid top trim is 46k.
In my opinion the Ford doesn't look that good, inside and out. The Hyundai is bigger and better.
My opinion about the rav4 is close to the Tucson, although not much for the cvt on Toyota. I'd like to see a comparison with Toyota and Hyundai.
I mainly do highway driving so it'd be interesting to see what vehicle fits that duty better.
A comparison between the RAV4 Hybrid and this Tucson Hybrid is coming out on Tuesday. Stay tuned!
I personally don't like the look of the Hyundai and I think the Escape has a nice ass. But I suppose we are all different.
The Toyota CVT is more reliable than any automatic transmission out there. It's an excellent design.
Nice to hear it does not drive like a hybrid and NO CVT transmission
What a treat! So smooth.
It may drive nice, but it won’t be as reliable or long lasting as the electric planetary gear ⚙️ set in Toyota Lexus hybrids. No belts, clutches or any other friction parts to wear out.
I had the 2018 Tucson and looooved it! Getting the 2022. I hope it has the same comfort and reliability.

NO Extra Volume knob on the center console, please! Also my hybrid SEL does have a circular knob for volume control! So I must’ve got a newer made model.
Rear turn signal lights are too low. They are impossible to see if close. A major fault in my opinion.
Great review, as usual. Agreed on the volume knob; give us that, at least. I really appreciate that on our BMWs!
Great review again guys!
Thank you very much!

Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the review.
Same 💯 agree
I think they have a 3rd brake light. Also most modern cars save stupid drivers from rear ending cars.
I had a power liftgate on my Rav4 Limited and hated it. If it's optional I'll always have a manual liftgate.
Oh interesting!
Poutine& guacamole for u guys next Montreal trip-ill set it up. Cheers

Awesome review ! Love the Hyundai lineups these days
Great feedback, thanks for watching and enjoy the new Hyundai!
Hi Wayne, does it run on regular or premium gas?
Love your reviews. Question is your conversion between Canadian to US dollars correct?
They are not converting dollar to dollar, they are quoting different country prices as advertised.
Thank you, glad you enjoy them. We are taking prices from the US site, we are not converting.
Every time they mention a dollar amount my jaw drops. Then, I remember they’re talking Canadian dollars vs USD and go “well, that’s doable”. US buyer who follows your channel here.
Hyundai Santa Fe, Palisade, Kona and Tucson.
Hyundai is conquering the world with its new SUV (and CUV 🤔) models, among other things.👍🏼👌🏼 I like.😉
First time watching your channel, and you two have a great presentation format figured out!
Thanks for sharing, so glad you enjoyed the review.
I hope they put the hybrid power train in the Santa Cruz.
Thank you Zack and Andrea. I just ordered this car, but have to wait till April for delivery.
