With steam and smoke around Würzburg | On the road in Franconia

What a wonderful experience! As part of the Würzburg City Festival this year, there was a special steam train ride around Würzburg. The trip was actually supposed to go to Gemünden and then via Thüngen to Schweinfurt and back to Würzburg. Due to construction work on the route, an alternative route had to be taken. And so we first came from Geroldshausen to Lohr and then back to Würzburg.
I paid 44 euros in second class for almost three hours of top entertainment and can say that it was really fun and a great experience. Thanks to the organizer and the friendly staff throughout! I'd love to come again!
Our train was pulled by the steam locomotives 23 058 from 1955 and the almost 100-year-old 77 250 from 1927.

The organizer of the special trip was the Gleichglück company from Leipzig. From there, trips with historic vehicles are constantly organized in Germany. The next train will leave Würzburg on December 28th, 2024!

The locomotives of this train are owned by the Swiss association Eurovapor. The locomotives are located in Würzburg.

The carriages of our train came from the Franconian Museum Railway Nuremberg association. This association also organizes regular trips.
