hey awesome build! me and the old man did a phazer 2 one time, nothing like yours, just a mountain phazer witha 1.5''' ripsaw, rebuilt with wiesco pistons, dg pipe, carbon reeds from the newer phazer, shaved the fan and a few more things but mostly stock.. what a weapon!! used to follow a sx viper 144 deep snow special wherever it could it go! love these little 485's!
Awsome! Just like mountain sledding used to be 25 years ago! Built not bought. Now you can't do a whole lot to them other than a can and a decal kit.Cheers from Alberta!
+Joakim Liland sorry I don't have any videos of it. The few times I had a chance to ride it this year was breaking in the engine, and testing clutching setups. Where I live in mn never had more than 10 inches on the ground, and the U.P. Never got deep enough for my liking. Spent my time in northern Colorado riding my skidoo 174.
Damn, seeing a modded phazer is like my childhood dream. Its awesome you did this, really love it. Hope you can upload a video of you riding it in the near future.
That is one bad ass sled I'm hopefully getting a 1991 Yamaha excited 570cc a 1993 Yamaha exciter 570cc and a 3 place trailier an I wanna make one like this
I have a '93 and I am very impressed with your sled! A buddy told me that slapping a set of slide carbs off a mid 90's Yamaha 500 or 600 Vmax reallys makes them run. He also said that the plungers needed mods?? Can't quite remember. Dig your sled!
Dude, that's a sweet job. I love it "way over the F@ckin Top". LMAO! You've thought of everything in here and the cold air intake is ultra smart, and makes me wonder why they didn't do a better job with that from the factory. Ive got an 89 SRV I've been restoring and it's an absolute blast to ride. I'm toying with the idea of making it a long track, but it's so close to original now, I'd hate to screw it up. Color scheme on the phazer is good, but I think I might have used a little less blue and maybe used some bare aluminum on the running board traction screws. I don't know, just htink some silver accenting would make it pop. But seriously, awesome job!
We need to see this in the snow!! i have a 93 exciter II (non sx) that could lose some weight and become a solid modifiable machine... but the phazers are generally better from what i understand...
Any advice on painting sleds? I got an 82 enticer I plan on painting but not too sure how to do it. I want the paint to last obviously and I plan on painting the hood and all the plastics and the tunnel if hats possible
If you want a good skid plate go to a junk yard and get the plastic skid plate from a 85-94 Chevy s10 blazer or a s15 Jimmy and trim it down to size. It fits the belly pan great.
Hey Jesse I'm wanting to build one but I need the lengths of like the tunnel and need to know how u made the skid also what I will need if will are willing to tell me what all I need I'd be really thankful
+Dalton Landrum i made the skid first, and made the tunnel to fit after the skid was done. i bought a sheet of aluminum, made the measurements, and marked the sheet where i wanted it bent. had a local guy bend it up for me.
Love this. I'm a sled-tech, and I'm doing a similar build. Came across this video just looking to see what's been done and get some ideas. Just curios what you did with the drivers and tunnel to accommodate the lugs on that track.
+Will Haas i got the drivers off of eBay from a guy in wisonsin. i think they were 40$ or so. i think they are acctually for a srv540. 6 tooth driver and the shaft is hexagonal, (six sided). stock lugs to 1.5 inch needs no mods. 1.5 inch is very tight though. any taller needs smaller drivers, and the front of the tunnel (where the track wraps around the driver) has to be moved forward or replaced with new metal to make room. i went with new metal.
I just bought a 89 Phazer to mod out, but im unsure if the stabalizer bar on the front of the ski's is needed, i don't see it on yours and was wondering if it could be removed or not.
+jesse cook thanks for the reply! I'll be doing the same thing to mine then. That sled looks bad ass and hopefully I can build mine into something different as well.
with that pipe, a layer taken out of the head gasket, some vmax 600 carbs, and clutching, ive seen those things walk all over lots of 600s of its day. all of those parts you can find in a junkyard for peanuts being so old now. the stock pipe and carbs choked those sleds off pretty bad.
+rageridersrx skid is a 2014 rmk assault skid. i modified it for the mono air shock though, and made some rail extensions. full of fuel ready to ride it sits at 410lbs, and no snow sticks to the back of it, because theres no heat exchangers on the tunnel. this sled holds very little snow 5-15lbs at most. compared to modern mtn sleds can hold as much as 100lbs, and usually 50-70 lbs if your riding off trail.
Dude make an update on this thing, I wanna see it in snow looks great
Just putting out new videos right now.
that's gotta be the coolest classic sled I've seen. great job man! love the color scheme. kinda wanna do this to my 97 wedge chassis
This is one of the coolest project snowmobiles I’ve ever seen! Keep it up!
hey awesome build! me and the old man did a phazer 2 one time, nothing like yours, just a mountain phazer witha 1.5''' ripsaw, rebuilt with wiesco pistons, dg pipe, carbon reeds from the newer phazer, shaved the fan and a few more things but mostly stock.. what a weapon!! used to follow a sx viper 144 deep snow special wherever it could it go! love these little 485's!
Not a Phazer fan but I love seeing what people do with their old iron. Nice work.
That is the coolest looking sled I have ever seen! I am looking forward to more videos.
New.video

like it.. just picked up 89 phaser for $50.. out a barn.. ditch banger for my 13yr.. u gave me some great ideas... thx for video.. bbbrraaaaaappppp
I saw this on Craigslist and thought it was really cool. Nice build.
+Crossfire800 thanks, i was offered 2,900 for it and decided to keep the sled
I love this, just bought my first Phazer 2 a couple days ago. I know absolutely nothing about snowmobiles but I want to mod it like crazy!
The best thing U can do is put a AAEN pipe on it, best bang for the buck
Nice , alot of work went into it . I use to have a 1995 Phazer mountain lite , it went good .
That is the most badass thing I've seen in a while.
I got the same skis as you for my phazer, I love them!
Nice work - long live the O.G. Phazer!!
Please please PLEASE make a video on you riding it! :D I love these old Phazers, and this looks amazing.
+Joakim Liland sorry I don't have any videos of it. The few times I had a chance to ride it this year was breaking in the engine, and testing clutching setups. Great sled, Jesse. I ride an 89 here in Japan with similar mods. But I am a hack and you are clearly an artist. More please!
+Akatarawa Japan thanks dude. waiting for the snow to fall here. japan looks sweet. watched some of your vids.
awesome job on the sled Jesse looks amazing. happy sledding cheers!!!
that's very cool. you've done some nice work to that sled
that phazer is awesome!!!!
Sweet ride. Love me some old Yammy 2-Strokes !!!
That is a beautiful looking sled.
Very sweet,great platform.
Sick dude. I just bought one for $350. Runs mint cant wait to give a good first rip.
Get a AAEN pipe, it will wake it up
I love it cant wait to see a video of it in the snow....
+rageridersrx there will be plenty of those videos
Craziest sled ever was an exciter I saw that had a twin 800 wound out........so damn loud!
This is the best thing ever. I need to build one...
Awesome build, think I seen it south of Houghton a week before Christmas
Looks great. I'm looking at picking up a Phazer 2, think I'm gonna take a bit of inspiration from this to make it less slow.
you built a bad ass sled
love the paint job sweet color
Really nice work!!!
Awsome build man.
From the up as well buddy hell yeah
That's a badass phazer
when are you gonna make a video of testing it in snow? please make one. thanks
This is a one of a kind bad ass sled.
I love the seat job!!
i'm in love with it man, currently working on my 488 indy Polaris and I wanna make it look sexy i'm making the hood gold with a warp
That is one bad ass sled I'm hopefully getting a 1991 Yamaha excited 570cc a 1993 Yamaha exciter 570cc and a 3 place trailier an I wanna make one like this
such a wild build!! love it
Like the up sticker

Update please. This thing is gorgeous
man i just seen a pic powermods posted on fb of this! it looks sick
Different sled, I think. Crazy colors? That's my cousins.
We need to see this in the snow!! i have a 93 exciter II (non sx) that could lose some weight and become a solid modifiable machine... but the phazers are generally better from what i understand...
New video up
Exciter is just a big Phazer, I've had both
wow I have a 1990 Phazer II - And a 1988 Exciter liquid cool
Amazing build man. Love it.
You nailed it
That is so cool I did the same with an ovation
Any advice on painting sleds? I got an 82 enticer I plan on painting but not too sure how to do it. I want the paint to last obviously and I plan on painting the hood and all the plastics and the tunnel if hats possible
I just saw u at a gas station today in eagle river and nice sled
Haha sweet! Getting some footage in the U.P.
this is awesome man ,had to subscribe plan on doing some similar mods to mine possibly a 144 track and skid I found on craigslist though!
You still have that jem of a sled? My first sled was a 88 phazer. Id still have it if it didnt get stolen. I still miss that sled.
If you want a good skid plate go to a junk yard and get the plastic skid plate from a 85-94 Chevy s10 blazer or a s15 Jimmy and trim it down to size. It fits the belly pan great.
Gorgeous

I see people reversing the front forks scissors like you did, is there a reason for that?
Love this.
I'm a sled-tech, and I'm doing a similar build. Came across this video just looking to see what's been done and get some ideas. Just curios what you did with the drivers and tunnel to accommodate the lugs on that track.
+Syxxes the drivers are one tooth less and still 2.52. So the smaller drivers allow for a little extra room and gears in down about 12%.
If you are using it in the mountains you should use a bigger shock because the fox floats blow
where did you get the 6 tooth drivers and is that all you did to gear it for the 151 track? what did you do to fit the taller lugs?
+Will Haas i got the drivers off of eBay from a guy in wisonsin. i think they were 40$ or so. i think they are acctually for a srv540. 6 tooth driver and the shaft is hexagonal, (six sided). stock lugs to 1.5 inch needs no mods. 1.5 inch is very tight though. any taller needs smaller drivers, and the front of the tunnel (where the track wraps around the driver) has to be moved forward or replaced with new metal to make room. i went with new metal.
looks awsome!.
The rear is sort of a single shot rear skid, cool.
What’s is the skid length and what sled is it out of?
I fuckin love this thing
That looks insane, post a vid once its done please
what part of Michigan you in if I may ask
I hate phazers, but I love this sled, so much vision and work went into this, its cool, and prolly a great sled to ride?
It's almost more snowbike than snowmobile it's so light and maneuverable
I just bought a 89 Phazer to mod out, but im unsure if the stabalizer bar on the front of the ski's is needed, i don't see it on yours and was wondering if it could be removed or not.
+Shane Mayers mine has been removed, and the tubing it runs in side of has been cut out. All heat steel and I'm needed.
+jesse cook thanks for the reply! I'll be doing the same thing to mine then. That sled looks bad ass and hopefully I can build mine into something different as well.
Very delayed response, but no mine does not have it in.
What are you using for The Handlebar Riser did you have to get cable extensions? Did you just do away with the speedometer and tach?
holy fuck its looking dope man geat work i would love to make one to
with that pipe, a layer taken out of the head gasket, some vmax 600 carbs, and clutching, ive seen those things walk all over lots of 600s of its day. all of those parts you can find in a junkyard for peanuts being so old now. the stock pipe and carbs choked those sleds off pretty bad.
This is great, would love to see a running video tho
Running video? Got one up for ya.
Sick Ride
There's no way in hell your getting 90hp out of that little fan cooled rwin! My race prepped 440's were barely making 80-90hp. ..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
nice U.P sticker got the same one on my sled
I like it , do you have one running , how does it go ??
any vids of this in action?
How did you make the rear upper running boards mount bends on your running boards?
+Matthew Brandt pipe bender. old fashioned way.
Thanks!
Nice job!
Almost a year and a half and no update with you actually riding it? Did you sell it?
Just putting out some new riding videos now.
what is the skid based on? what does it weigh ? Oh and this is exactly what I've been wanting to do for a while now!!!
Man sweet build did you make or buy the running boards
Nice.. I have a 86 that's had some mods to it, Engine bored pipied and widened and got bigger slide carbs..it's crazy..
I got video on my channel..
+jesse cook what size riser are those
Where did u get that seat
What running boards are those
no videos riding!?!
Nice that's pretty cool
My HD shop vac. runs that same air filter🤪👍
almost looks like you could fit an arctic cat laydown twin out of an M8 in that thing
Nice Work!
you did a great job how much hp does that machine put out
Maybe 80ish
Very good, indeed!😃⤴️⤴️
still waiting for the ride video!
Hey I saw this sled today going thru town where did you get your aluminum tunnel work done at?
Can you tell us where you go the parts for the air box intake? Thanks!
Jesse cook, where did you get the exhaust from and how does it sound? bad ass sled, I want to convert mine into a st version.
+Lawrence Armstrong aaen pipe. sounds great. doing some final touches to the sled and ill make some more videos of it.
Right on, I'm stoked to hear it rip, do I have to rejet my carb if I make that cold air intake?
Hey Jesse who did you have powder coat the parts?
+Marcus Baillargeon i did all of the powder coating in my shop.
What did you use for throttle and brake cables?
