      There are several variants, Royal, Spade, Royal Spade, Diamond, and Draw. In Spade Cassino you get points for most spades. In Draw, you draw from the deck instead of dealing each round. Royal Spade is a combination of Royal and Spade Cassino. Diamond is a hybrid of Cassino and Scopa using a stripped deck.

    You could also play a variation where you get a bonus point each time you swipe the table, taking every card there is, and you place one of the cards sideways in your collective pile as a tab.

    One occasion that can occur is not mentioned here: You can clear the table. This is called a "tout", French for all. Every time you clear the middle you are awarded an extrapoint. This can happen either if you can add up all cards in the middle with one card of your hand or if you can build up cards to the same sum twice or even three times. Example: In the middle there is a 2, 6, 5 and 3. You can build an 8 from 6 and 2 and from 5 and 3. If you have an eight you can take all cards. The next player is left with an empty table and must put one of his cards in the middle.

    Very well explained! So many card games sound interesting - as I've been trying to learn more beyond 5 card draw poker, blackjack, hearts (at a Window's edition level) and ...solitaire(s) - yet reading the gameplay is sometimes more confusing than just seeing it done. Thanks much!

    I have played it with rules that players gets one point each time they're able to empty the table during the game. Also we had diffrent values for little casino (value of 15) and the big casino (value of 16) when they're played from your hand. But when they are trailed their value gets back to their face value.

      Well, according to Hoyle, the first rule you stated is correct. Players get one point each time they're able to empty the table during the game. This is called a "sweep." Hoyle does not mention anything about the 15 and 16 point values though.

  • @MrOptimisme

    I've always been told that the small casino (2 of spades) have a worth of 15 on hand, and a worth of 2 on board. Same goes for the big casino (10 of diamonds) just one larger; 16. and worth 10 on board. I've also been told i cannot build with an ace. *Because aces are point cards, and count as 14 on hand and 1 on board. unless they are already on the bord, where they are worth one. Then again we might play by different rules, as most do. I'd love to see if anyone else has a diversion of the rules that they want to share. Thanks for the video!

    • @rikstang02
      @rikstang02 2 роки тому

      That is exactly how all my friends and family members play it. 2 Spades worth 15 on hand and 2 on the table. 10 Diamons worth 16 on hand and 10 on the table. It is not allowed to build a combination with the Ace the player holds in his/her hand or pair the Ace to take another Ace because is worth 14 on hand. Ace on the table is worth 1.
      However, we play with 1 Joker which is worth 17 on hand and on the table. So if the player is not able to take the Joker by adding multiple cards or building a combination then the last player that took in cards takes the Joker along with all remaining cards. Joker is worth 3 points.

    We play it a little differently. Ace is 14 on the hand and one on the table. You can't use it in builds if it's not already on the table. Two of spade is 15 on the hand and two on the table. Ten of diamonds is 16 on the hand and 10 on the table. The last two also have to be on the table to use in builds. Clearing the table gives you one extra point. Call combinations can't be taken by others.

    One key rule was missed in this video: Sweeps. If you clear the board, you get a point. Say there is a 4 and a 3 on the table. If your opponent plays a 2, and you have a 9 in you hand. You can combined the three board cards to make a 9, and with no remaining cards, you've swept the board and get a point. You can get people into sweep locks by having similar hands and can run up several points in a row.

    • @Jaydoggy531
      @Jaydoggy531 6 років тому +1

      The sweep point rule is on or off depending on the game. When playing with two players if you're looking for a longer game, there are no points for sweeps. The sweep point only makes sense (that is in my experience) if there are 3-4 players.

    *Help needed.* Years ago I used to play a 2-handed solitaire with my grandmother that involved only one deck. She passed now, but I asked my mother if she knew how to play and while she remembers playing, she didn't remember the rules. Do you think you might know or can find out the rules for that game? It was a fun game.

      No, Kings in the Corners we used to play too. In fact, I'm the one that taught my grandmother that one and she loved it so much she would even play it as a solitaire. But there was one game that she called two-handed solitaire where we split the deck in half and made plays that were similar to solitaire moves on each other's turns but with a weird tableau, and that's all I can remember.
      I searched Google & YT to no avail. If it's any help, my mom keeps telling me that she's confusing it with Spit.

    1. Can I start a 2nd build before taking the 1st one. Example. A 2 and a 6 are on the board in my hand I have a 8,4,10. Can I build on the 2 with my 8 and then on my next turn build on the 6 with my 4 and take them both with my 10 next turn?
    2nd. On the last play of the last deal can I trail cards if I have a way to take a card? Or if I can make a move do I have to make it? Saving the last pull from the middle to get all the cards...

      Response One:
      According to Hoyle, yes you can. In fact Hoyle uses a similar example when explaining the rules and I quote: *"Two or more combinations may be taken with one card; thus a 7,3 and a 6,4 may all be taken by one 10."* Hoyle further expounds upon this in the "Building" section of the rules and I quote: *"A build may be duplicated or paired. Suppose that a player holds a 10,6,3, and that on the table are 7,4. He may put his 6 on the 4, and should his opponent trail, he could place his 3 on the 7 and add both cards to the build, deferring the capture with his 10."* Ultimately, when dealing with builds, the only thing you're not allowed to do is trail and I quote: *"Having made a build, a player may not trail at his next turn. He must take it in, or duplicate it, or increase it, or leave it temporarily while he takes in other cards."* So if you really wanted to, you could even just leave the build on the table in order to take in other cards.
      Response Two:
      According to Hoyle, there is no rule that states you must take a card from the table if you have a way to do so. What you wrote sounds like a really good strategy. I suggest you deploy that during a game.
      Response Three:
      If you place a 6 on a 6, and a 3 on a 3, then you've captured those cards because they are of the same rank. I'm not 100% sure what you're asking here.

    My dad and I played this all the time but we built on Jacks and Queens as well. We considered Jacks as 11, Queens as 12 and Kings as 13. So, if I was holding a 2 and a King (13) and there's a Jack (11) on the table, I could add the 2 to the Jack (11) and build Kings (13). Then pick up that combo on my next turn. Also, if there were cards totaling 11, 12, or 13, we used a face card to pick them up. For example, a 7 and a 5 equals 12, so we'd pick them up with a Queen.

    Wait..., what if there are still 4 cards left on the board and no player has a match from their hand or things that can be equivalent to the number and/or face cards while the dealer still has cards and the players still have 4 cards?
    Why do you do now?
    --------------------
    Also, what does the dealer do if there are 4 cards on the board and both players still have 1-3 cards in their hand and none of them are allowed to be placed or trailed on to the middle of the board?
    --------------------
    Can you also, call combination on top of a call combination and/or a build combination?

      @BacsPet96 Рік тому

      I think, no. The cards on the table must be, or add up to the card in your hand, not the other way around. E.g. you had a 3 and 7 in hand, a 4 on the table, then you could build a 7 placing your 3 on the 4, then taking it with your 7 on your next turn. Your example takes the combo with a card on the table, not with a card in your hand. That's not allowed.

    In Illinois prison we deal out 6 cards in the first round and 4 cards the rest. 10 of diamonds is 3 points, deuce of spade is 2 points, aces are 1 point each,most spades 1 point and cards is 1 point. Also in the last round of dealing you have to say "cards or all of them". Letting the other player know there's no more cards left. Fail to do so, the other player gets a extra point. This version is called 6-5. First player to six points wins the game. Its awesome that there are many different versions of this game.

    I know a similar game, it's called "Escopa de 15", you remove 8s, 9s, and 10s, and deal three cards to each player (instead of four), and you open four cards on the table, instead of having to add up values to take the cards, in Escopa de 15 you add up to 15, the Q is worth 8, J is 9 and K is 10 (A is 1), and the rest is worth face value. Just like in this game, you can only play one card at a time, and you have to trail if you can't add up to 15. You get points like this:
    Most cards
    Most diamonds
    Most sevens
    The seven of diamonds
    Each of them is worth a point
    You can also get points by making "Escopas", that is, making a sum of 15 that leaves no cards on the table, forcing your opponent to trail, you get one point for each Escopa you make

    Me and the wife play cut throat cassino where you can also subtract so nothing is safe. If 8 and 9 are on the table and I have an ace then 9-8=1 and I take it with the ace. It's extremely hard to leave anything on the table because it can now be altered from the table or your hand even stacking, say, 9s because say 18 -10=8 and can be taken. It's way more challenging and fun and my wife is deadly at finding combos to steal my stack.

    I played this with my gma growing up. She was born in 1903 and she had learned it from her mother who had learned it from her mother. She called it CASINA and the scoring was a little different. NATURAL POINTS: Cards=2pts, Spades=2pts, Big Cuss (10 of diamonds) was 2pts, Little Cuss (2 of spades) was 1pt, Aces 1pt each. UNNATURAL POINTS: came from sweeping (picking up the last card(s) from the table and those are 1pt each. Great game!!!

      @@GatherTogetherGames next question is concerning building...I've seen people play two ways, which way is correct...example....player 1 has an 7 and 9 in his hand...on the board is an Ace and a 2....player 2 has a 10 and 4 in his hand....player 1 decides to build, he puts 7 on the 2 and says 9.... player 2 sees the Ace on the board decides to add that to the build and say 10 is that legal? because I've seen people play where you must have that Ace in your hand along with the 10 in order to add to somebody's build.

    • @Kalahan6
      @Kalahan6 6 років тому

      At the end of a round each player will have "won" a bunch of cards. Based on some rules these cards will give each player points at the end of the round. The goal of the game is to get to 21 points first. The rules to decide each player points at the end of the round are as follows. The player with the most cards at the end of the round gets 3 points. The player with the most spades af the end of the round gets 1 point. The player that has gained the 10 of diamonds get 2 points. The player that has gained the 2 of spades get 1 point. Finally, each ace card a player holds at the end of the round gives another point. Players add all the points at the end of the round. If nobody has 21, a new round is played to gain more points.. If someone has 21, he/she has won the game.

  • @jamesmeyer9912

    Great explanation. One difference in the way we played.
    We did not allow combinations to be changed one set. If a player created and 8 combination with a 6 from the and a 2 from the hand, the opponent could NOT create a 9 combination by adding the Ace.

  • @rikstang02
    @rikstang02 2 роки тому

    All the rules are the same as I continue to play today except for 2 difffent rules:
    1) When the Ace is in a player's hand is worth 14 but once the Ace is in the table is worth one. Therefore is not allowed to pair the Ace on the table to take it. The player must add multiple cards or build a combination.
    2) We play with one Joker. The Joker is worth 15 (just like the Jack is 11, Queen is 12, King is 13) and the Joker is worth 3 points if you manage to take it.

      One deck of 52 cards is used for the game. 4 cards are dealt to each player and 4 cards are placed in the middle. After each player has play his four cards, four new cards are dealt to each player. This continues until the deck has no more cards. The player who takes the last trick picks all remaining cards.

    Everyone please note this game is different depending on where you live, In my country we dont use most cards AND/OR "most spades". "Big Casino"/10 of diamonds ( we call it "Big Mamma") is the is the one to have, a draw goes to the one who has this card. After that its anyone who gets the most points. Not cards. If you think this unfair remember that having only Big Mamma means everyone else is out to get you and is looking for you...this is why I cant play this (video/op) version of it, collection of more cards just to win feels like cheating to me. Anyone can collect cards but it takes skill to secure points. Main rule, there are 7 points and only 7, most points secured wins
