Whats wrong with my computer?

- This is a video of my Toshiba laptop trying to start up. This loop was caused by a defective hard drive. If you are having the same problem, you may be able to fix it by re-installing the Operating System. To do that you must insert your OS disk into the disk drive and restar your computer. During the boot-up you must hold down the C button on your keyboard, then release it when you see the appropriate screen (in my case when the screen reads "Toshiba"). Now the computer should reformat the hard-drive automatically. When the reformat is done, you have to take the disk out of the disk drive and press any key on your keyboard (e.g.: a,3,y,e,8,d,2,u,0,',],,,f,., etc.) to auto restart your computer.
If the problem still persists you may have to replace the hard-drive. To do that look up the model of your computer (on the bottom) or take out the hard drive and note the specifications (like 2.5") to make sure that your new hard drive will fit into your computer. When all parts are in place install the OS. - Навчання та стиль
@dylan007 you can right click on the taskbar and select the task manager from there
Safe mode is of no use here since this problem was not caused by a virus, but by a faulty hard drive
that kinda sounds like you are running in safe mode
finally some who knows what he is talking about. although i have fixed this problem long ago the steps you mentioned should be taken to resolve this computer problem
thx for advice ill try it now
i like how your computer starts up!!!
yea, its not the fan that was starting up it was the HD that was making that noise.
My dad has the same problem now and then, but then with a HP pavilion desktop computer...
this is a laptop, but yes the camera was kinda close to it. it cant really be an overheating problem because i use a cooling fan pad for laptops
yea, the fan is just fine. and i have fixed the problem a long time ago already by buying a new hard drive. everything else is working to this day. (i gave the laptop to my parents and they have been using it for 4 years since the problem was resolved).
wow this troubleshooting topic is still active after 1 year! do you have any other problems?
no, that's probably not hard drive problem, it's a windows problem
thats right even if it's a virus or not the computer trying to load will go to Black Screen of Death. The computer must be wiped if your wanting access
The thing that makes the computer WORK! The Brain
at bootup click F8 and go into safe mode
start>all programs>accesories>system tools>system restore
That happened to me on my Toshiba. I turned it off and then turned it back on, and it was fine, though.
whats happening there is a "reloop" yep they are caused by corrupt hds (could be the wrong or corrupt driver or a virus) or if two hds are installed as master and slave when windows has just been installed,(then you install again with one hd disconnected til windows install finishes)
Me neither ;)
also matters the megahertz(basicly speed) or so your pc has and ram , cores , hdd indeed also because it needs to loads things
^^
the cooling pad may not be cooling the inside of your computer quick enough... it may still be getting to hot. remove all peripherals try restarting.. if that doesn't work insert a windows disc and try to do a system repair... make sure your RAM is working properly.... if the problem continues throw it out your window
1st, check bios to make sure everything is hoocked up right. if that doesn't work, go back in to BIOS, tell it to boot from the CD drive, and then put in your windows disk and boot up. after that follow the onscreen prompts.
Right, what you've got is something that starts a restart loop. I don't know what it is, do you remember downloadwing anything?
and how is he supposed to deleted it ?
placing the hard disc on another computer to examine it and elimate the virus or something like that?
Ask Dan Gookin.
@gibsonslasher22
it depends on the capacity, check out newegg to get an idea of prices. I wouldnt think that you will spend more than $60 for a decent one
1. insert win xp cd and boot from cd
2. if installation program will not start set cdrom as first boot device.
3. press R and if Repair console will not start press R again AND if Repair console will not start press R again ....
after Repair console started...
Commands:
4.TYPE ChkDsk /p and press enter.
5.TYPE FixMbr ant press enter.
6.Confirm it
7.Type FixBoot and press enter.
8.Confirm it
9. type exit and press enter.
happened 2 me to...
it's a startup problem... something was wrong with the windows files...
had to format...
not entirely not only the hdd how do u load a pc without ram and al those extra fancy things?
Right, For one it looks like your classic windows BSOD (blue-screen-O-death).
Because you've got some setting's (this way by default if memory serves) so that it auto-restarts on BSOD.
Try booting into safe-mode.
Secondly - what's 'wrong' is that you have window's on that laptop!
@jawwad594 old is gold
yea, i bought one of those laptop mats(USB) that give good circulation, and it works amazingly good. and btw it was my hard drive and it died... bought a new one.
this happened to me twice while rebooting my compute the first time it happened was 2 years ago and last night while i was watching robot chicken ( no lie im actally 12 ) my laptop randomly turned on
SAFE MODE! EVERYTHING IS GOOD IN SAFE MODE. Seriously. Safe mode it. Virus scan it. Rawr.
what happens if you're computer says "BOOTMGR IS COMPRESSED"?and before my computers bootmgr was compressed it says boot file is corrupt.
I had this problem on my Eee PC, you just have to reinstall Windows.
I think your hard drive failed, when mine failed it went like that.
Put in your windows disc and when it gets to the first screen press r and that will do a repair. I had similar problems with random boots with my pc recently once your pc is repaired and finaly boots up go to windows update as for me this solved a few problems probabley caused by the last windows update. Microsoft are always messing up PC's and you have no come back im getting a new PC and then switching to a new OS sick of windows.
your harddrive is not necessarily bad. people just arbitrarily say that. tap f8 on boot and choose disable restart on system failure. you are getting a blue screen and windows automatically will restart your machine in that event making your computer stuck in a reboot loop. find the stop error of the bsod and you can get a fairly good idea whats going on. post the stop error and ill tell you or search microsoft knowledge base.
yea safe mode and all of the other options did not work for me
roger that
run the computer in safe mode and run system restore to the last time it was working.
Hope that helps
how would i go around fixing my disc ejecter it has just broken when i try and eject it does a du du du dum sound as it trys to move but wont eject my disc inside still works but if i have tried to eject it i have to restarted my laptop to get it to read the disc again
one time my uncle had a computer and it started smoking..
idek how he managed this..
Reinstalling Windows causes more problems.
thinking about it
Maybe the system is overheating? thats what my OLD toshiba did til i losened some screws and let the fans breathe then it should be ok. (that was my issue tho) plus i can hear the fans kinda dying out. give it some room.
i dont have my os disk :(
i remember my pc did that i just wish i could remember why but i think it was my harddrive
Your computer is stuck in an infinite loop due to a corrupted master boot record and/or boot system files
For all you people who are having this problem, resolution is simple and you can do it your self in under 10 minutes max.
Solution to problem:
Insert Windows XP CD in computer
At 1st blue screen of Windows setup choose repair using recovery console.Choose "C" as choice "1"
Then, type "fix mbr".Then type "Y" for yes as a confirmation. Then type "restart" or "exit"
i have a three computers that run windows, linux and mac os. they all have their problems. and this was not a software problem. the hard drive was bad.
dude, if you are going to spend 4g's on a laptop you are not going to have any problems with it. but if you do you wont have to worry because they would replace anything for you in no time.
its definitely not an overheating problem
I know buy a new hard drive problem is that the hard drive fried and can not find the information
dude the windows xp disc alone tells you to do that lol, your some technician...
my problem was the ddr memory i just had to replace it and i was good to go
why don't you try save mode with networking
did u try safe mode?
I Know that. Me too I have this computer malfunction.
do you use windows?
my computer does the same thing except turns itself off and then back on again. even when i go to the menu and click safe mode or the other modes it does the same thing. my computer didn't come with a windows disc so do you think i should find windows xp somewhere and burn it to a disc and try reinstalling windows that way
i think you're right, couse i downloaded a crack, then that happent to me again.
- Where should i click F10?
You should reboot THE COMPUTER.
I have same problem with my other computer. Can you let me know how you fixed yours?
OK, 1st Get your XP disc and press a button when computer tells u @ strtup, let it load up to the instillation sreen & press REPAIR INSTALLATION,@ DOS PROMPT TYPE BOOTCFG press enter.@ NEXT PROMPT TYPE CHKDSK (check disc)
Disc will then check your installation repairing watever Files Are BAD....Worked for me.
why not try running in safe mode?
I think it's works good,where u see the problem?
how do you do that?
hmm this happened to my friends pc i went into the bios settings then set it to default then saved the setting and it worked.
Don't we all just loooove Windows..? ☺
i got a problem now erm my pc starts up perfect but at the part where it should say windows xp loading screen its just black there for ever is this my Video card or my HDD or motherboard??
already have one...
did you get this problem fixed? how? please message me or write it here, thanks so much!
sol:- ress f8 at startup>go to mininal drive startup then go to systools >try sys backup to the earliest if this not work and stops working in the begining itself by restarting, then try to load a file explorer.exe using a ms-dos startup floppy that should work if not go to repair option in xp-cd. this problem usually occurs if the users always irks with the sys files by up-downl.. 3d interface files or xxx files...so on i hope this will. ,bye dear
I was just being sarcastic about the windows pc's that just break anyway, or have errors (most of 'em)
NTLDR error possibly
make a windows 98 boot disk,
start it up and re-install ur OS.u have a fuked up boot file(s)
or u can unplug the HD,boot, turn pc off, hook HD back up then turn back on.that works sometimes
go in on safe mode
Windows is screwed up. Just reload it from scratch.
i got the infinit boot problem recently, i accidently deleted my friends ' winlogon ' regkey in the registry regedit and that happened. i forgot to delete wgalogon instead . haha. had to reinstall winxp over itself with the recovery option after u hit f8 agreement
i have fixed the problem, and it was just the HD. all i did was i replaced it with a new one and its workin
my toshiba computer did the same thing after i upgraded to windows vista ultimate bestbuy (the place i bought it from) said my boot sequence was F***ed up so i gave it up and my computer is now a dell laptop toshiba can bite me
hey. my computer auto madicty restarts it self every time a video ends. and some site make it shut off.And when i go on msn it restarts do you konw whats woung?

if windows will not start replace your RAMs
if problems continue replace your hdd
it still works i tried it
what if u cant get to task manager? because when i press Ctrl+Alt+Del it gives me options.. such as lock this computer/switch user/log off/Change password/. thats all i think this virus might of blocked task manager... idk wht to do can u please help. : /
i hear the fan of your computer really loud.... is this because the camera is next to the tower of your pc... it may be your computer is getting too hot and shutting itself down..
yes its all about the harddrive,,,promise
at worst you can use xp disk to fix your pc. you can also reinstall over existing dir. OR If you have a virus then use safe mode with networking. Run your anti virus. next time right click on your crack and click scan to have your antivirus scan the file. you can also restore your pc in safe mode. system restore is a quick fix. I would recommend 2 pc's. 1 for testing programs and one for every day stuff.
go to Safe mode and then go to system restore, choose one system restore. if you don't have a restore point then restart the computer to 0 what i mean to erase all cause it may be a virus. when you get it done then install a good antivirus cause it may come back
I think, the Fan on your CPU no longer in his right place. Look at the Temp´s from your CPU.
Think that the CPU is to hot.
I had the same problem too.
Press your Fan strong on your CPU and it works!
Sorry about my english, but I´m a german guy.
First, I would check to see if your computer can run in safe mode. If it can I would try deleting the recent programs you installed on your computer. The best thing to do though is to reinstall Windows. Their is obviously something wrong with the boot directory.
yes
i am a computer master and i have come accross that before but with a packard bell. your hard drive might be infected with viruses and they must have destroyed the booting files. thats what i think. put the drive into another computer as a slave and then run a virus scan on it. i might be wrong but i am prettty sure that the boot files are infected. try it.
i dnt giva F bout HD jst bout my FILES how can i save EM reply sooon as possible please
its ok, i got an Acer 6930G now. dells are not my thing.
never min etaking time to virus scan and this and that backup your data and reinstall windows and that will solve everything be like a new pc
would be good =)
@predator60 by the sounds of it, nexon is a malware site and has intstalled malware on you computer. Google anti-malware systems and install one of those. Personally, I would recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.
CMOS SETUP UTILITY i am at the right screen? lol
D;
This happened to my computer.
It was re-installed on a secondary hard disk. lol
mine use to do that and i got another one
I think you put that restart virus on your C:\? :(
My old xp computer only broke, because of virus....
