Thing is: Nighteye didn't specify how Mirio will become a fine hero, meaning it could be that he won't ever gets his Quirk back to be a superhero. But he can still be a fine hero to Eri. The value of a hero, after all, isn't really determined by how many he/she saves. It's how much they are willing to sacrifice and act for the sake of others with good intentions... bringing happiness to those they care about. He doesn't need to save a million people to be the greatest, finest hero. He just has to be a hero to Eri's world. That's just my take anyway, I could be wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I love Mirio and his character, and as much as I want him to get permeation back and fuck some people up, I think thematically, having the quirk destroying bullets be permanent adds further weight to the overhaul arc. Combine that with the fact that his training let him stand toe to toe with Chisaki for 5 whole minutes without a quirk, means if anyone could be a hero without a quirk, Mirio absolutely could
Mirio without a doubt would’ve continued on to become the next Symbol of Peace. But that’s not what the world needs right now, peace breeds passivity and carelessness. One person shouldering the whole world isn’t good for the long term. The world needs a Symbol of Hope, somebody who inspires it to fight for itself and to take an active role in bettering the world and freeing it of villainy. Somebody who shows the world that anyone has power to change the world for the better, even a quirkless fan boy. I think Izuku is on that path, he’s proven himself time and time again to be an inspirational force to be reckoned with for any who cross his path. I absolutely LOVE Mirio, but the world doesn’t need another All Might, it needs its first Deku.
"The world needs a Symbol of Hope, somebody who inspires it to fight for itself and to take an active role in bettering the world and freeing it of villainy. Somebody who shows the world that anyone has power to change the world for the better, even a quirkless fan boy" Damn, this is awesome and so true too. Nice way of putting it.
Powerless Man No? Purpose? I said the world needs a Symbol of Hope, so that everybody is inspired to contribute toward peace, instead of just putting all the responsibility of achieving it on a single person.
I really hope he does, I love Mirio! Although I wonder if Nighteye was telling the truth on his death bed? Maybe he saw that Mirio doesn't get his quirk back and still wanted to give him hope that he can still be a hero without it?
The fact that Studio Bones didn't pick Tintin's Japanese voice actor (AKA Takeshi Kusao AKA Trunks) to play Togata will forever be a stain on their honor.
When I saw the Mirio in the background I almost cried since i realized it was the way he looked at Eri before losing his Quirk...😢 Mirio/Lemillion will never be forgotten and will always be a hero!
My dad always told me that it never hurts to be upbeat and positive And I don't think I've ever seen anybody in media embody that more than mirio togata
If you think about it in a certain way Mirio and Overhaul are like more mature versions of Deku and Shigaraki. Mirio and Deku have a lot of similarities in terms of personality and in the influence All Might has on them and their quests to become great heroes. Not to mention how Mirio had to improve upon his quirk so it could be useful to him just as Deku had to improve upon One for All so it could be useful to him. On the opposite end you have Overhaul and Shigaraki. Both of whom have destructive quirks that requires touch, and are aiming to become the leader of powerful crime syndicates after being inspired by the former boss. Mirio and Overhaul are both wiser than Deku and Shigaraki, both more realized or in a way showing what the two of them have the potential to become. And in that sense both Mirio and Overhaul are parallels of each other not unlike how Deku and Shigaraki are parallels to one another. They were both introduced at the same time and both essentially lost their power around the same time as well.
But both of them make mistakes that lead to their horrible, horrible downfall For Mirio, it was his reckless, almost blind heroism, which made him try and fend off Overhaul and his goons by himself in order to protect Eri, and this led to his eventual loss of his quirk after being shot by one of the quirk-deleting bullets, this is a lesson that Deku took to heart, that being to not jump onto situations with no way to come back from them For Overhaul, it was his lack of empathy and care for his own comrads, and the way he slowly broke down into your generic, old japanese media villain. He began as this current japanese villain, with calculated attacks that only made his unknown and monstruously powerful quirk all the more horrifying to fend off agaisnt. As the arc progressed, he slowly regressed back and, after fusing with two of his "minions", he just became your stereotypical old japanese kaiju, for Deku to smash in the face with Eri on his back. Shigaraki learned from this that his teammates are more than crucial for him to achieve his goals as the next Symbol of Chaos, and that led to the My Villain Academia arc, later in Season 5 or so.
@@OGrupxe blind heroism you say, good sir, you have my utter peak disrespect, in first episode that lil bitch mc too committed "reckless and blind heroism" ...the only reason i can see deku got ofa is because he tried to save bakugou, heroic indeed and the second " he was quirkless" .....Mirio would have also tried to save ...but with utter smartness and experience even if he was a newbie....mha was really sloppy to pick up , it was all deku's fault that the slime dude got slipped from all might and ended up on kachaan ......mf seduced all might into giving him an op power ......man i really hope shiggy kills that lil bastard so these fangrils would bleed their eyes out
mirio once explained, that, when intangible he is blind, as light passes just through his eyes, and his body... wouldn´t that mean, that he also should become invisible, as the light wont be reflected from him?
Yeah, good observation, but if that happened, whenever Mirio made some part of his body intangible, that would also mean we would see his internals and I don't think Horikoshi would like that very well.
Most logical explanation would be they emulated Mirio's hair's properties to create the costume. I doubt they'd actually need the fabric to be made entirely out of his hair... :/
yeah he is just so much more likeable. he literally embodies a hero in every way, Izuku just sort of got lucky and is constantly focused on improving his One For All usage rather than being a better hero
It's so ironic that within context of the universe the Quirk Permeation is portrayed as a very complex and challenging ability to control - but really no matter how you slice it the Quirk is just *ridiculously powerful (even on the verge of being OP)* when in comparison to the action shounen series and their special powers and abilities - I still think Horikoshi handled it pretty well
@conan263 Eh, due to how his Quirk works, it would just either send his arm back, or launch the opponent, which could be helpful, but no internal phase damage cab be performed.
Lemillion is literally my favorite character in all of anime. He went through so much to save Eri, and I am truly moved through Mirio Togata’s efforts.

Another one of my favorite MHA character right after the Jiro video? I'm super interested to see what will happen to him in the future. Good job on the video as always Meti.
If a green lantern ring dropped on the MHA world, it would probably chose this guy. Even when he lost his power, he still managed to hold out on his own by sheer will and creativity, the very same thing that made his otherwise mediocre quirk became so powerful.
If Mirio had OFA the manga would end sooner lol. Heck he probably doesnt even need those extra powers unlike Deku the permeation and additional boost from OFA would make him already a beast.
not to mention the next OFA user would then have his permeate ability as well. if you think about it, Deku brings nothing to the table for his eventual successor.
@amirus I'm not sure where you are in the Manga (if you read it) but its discovered that OFA also contains previous users quirks. That Deku can access when under duress or hes in the "correct" state of mind
Correct me if I'm wrong. But OFA is a stock piling quirk of sorts. So it's just adding Deku's "completely ordinary" strength right? Unless its revealed later that he had a quirk/strength all along.
Mirio is like the stereotypical gary stue, super wholesome, confident with humour and everything, of course people are not gonna ride a train like that, how could you like him more than characters that actually show their weaknesses and are more likable.
@@kol8003 Yeah, and we saw that in a 2 minutes flashback, that has 0 impact. They present him to us as the one who is the closest to number 1. So busted they had to get rid of him the same arc he appeared in.
Power. Absolute. Actually, I think the point of his character was to shake our faith - and Deku’s - in Deku. Because of how much he resembled All Might, how strong he was, his ideals. I think that’s why they had Deku go all out in the last fight defeating Overhaul. I think it’s just leading up to Deku proving himself.
Another similarity between his quirk and video game clipping is in 3D games when you clip through the floor there is nothing there just dark emptiness and infinite falling, which is very similar to what happened when he goes through the floor
I might of misunderstood the scene in the manga, but I thought that Nighteye saw that Mirio would not succeed, but told him he would, hoping that he could overcome his fate like Deku did in the same arc.
I remember he didn't want to foresee such important things because, when he saw something then it was bound to happen, so he would rather leave it to chance
@@cheetoschrist5685 It's not exactly relevant, but that really puts me in mind of that epic Shakespeare inspired speech in Beast Wars, code of a hero: "To be… or not to be. That is the question. These disks I hold… Are they a record of what will be, or only of what may? For if the future is indeed immutably fortold… then my demise is but moments from that confirmation, for I… I could not live if not the master of my fate. But… if the future can be changed… if these disks record merely one path of all the myriad ways the cosmos might conform… then the power is infinite, and yet still limited, for they can be used but once, and in that change be rendered fiction forevermore. I could destroy them! But… no. T’would be a coward’s answer. I will know the truth instead. Then, t'will be either them or me that face oblivion... Till then."

Deku is, its honestly Cliche but both Deku and this guy have the potential to fight the villains threatening the world but that's not enough. I agree with the OP but just as the manga says Midoriya got extremely lucky and ran into All Might before All Might had the chance to meet Mirio. Could Mirio possibly beat the class in a rematch without his quirk? I even told his VA that Ive been imagining ways he could beat them again in his current state
Mirio is the perfect example of how the innate power of a quirk means nothing his Quirk is bang average in most kids hands even some of the main characters hands it would be virtually useless but never the less hes already at pro hero level when we meet him
Bro all might even said the only reason mirio didn't get his quirk is because he met deku fist. If that never happened he would never have chosen deku over mirio.
@@dantewilson182 I disagree, the most of his arc in the very beginning of the series was about not giving up in his dreams, even when he was dealt a bad hand, he still wanted to be a hero, even when no one believed in him, even his idol said to his face he could never be a hero, even his name "Deku" is meant to put him as someone "worthless" as if he's owning this fact about him, but also challenging it and trying to be the best in an enviroment where he was set to be the worst. Having Deku be given not only a quirk, but the most powerful of them all validates all the people that doubted him and actually says he was wrong all along, if he didn't have the luck to meet Allmight by chance, he would still be powerless and a nobody, deku was first placed as an underdog, like Naruto but, also like Naruto, that's all a farce, since he was super privileged and lucky, ironically, you could even say that Bakugou, who came from a normal family, a normal school and got into the best hero course in the country from his own merits, performing at the level of Todoroki, bred to be a more powerfull Endeavor and Deku, who was given god like power and the full attention of the best hero ever, is more of a self made underdog then Midoriya. Having Deku be powerless could force him to use gadgets and clever tricks, using his inteligence to show that the world was wrong about him and that there are more ways to be a hero then the construct of a super powerfull, unbeatable god, so far, he defeated most of his enemies by punching them harder and harder. Still love him as a character though
@@porci751 Oh God I hate walls of text. Here's the thing, you need powers to be a hero. That is literally in the job description of this shows setting & it follows that to the clearest degree. In this universe. if you don't have a suitable power then you can't be a hero. Aizawa may know martial arts but he also has a power that he uses in conjunction with his martial abilities. Without the quirk his fighting style would fall apart because in this shows setting a powerless human being is screwed against super-powered foes. That's why before All Might took him in, Deku was going to become a cop, because that is a more realistic version of his dream which is too help people. Knuckleduster may be a vigilante but its acknowledged he is at a huge disadvantage as a result & really has to play dirty cause of it as well as be particular with his opponents. Also Deku can't just make gadgets or some shit like that. He is not an inventor, he does not have the wealth required to make such tools. Deku can't be Batman because he's not rich & that is the only reason why Batman is able to do the stuff he can do, because he has the wealth to be able to do it, nothing more.
@@dantewilson182 well, that's exactly the problem issn't it? the series tries to be all about "overcoming the odds" and tries to pose Deku as some underdog who got where he is by pure will power and hard work. The whole concept you defended on your first paragraph was what Deku was supposed to challenge in the first chapters. I never said he had to make gadgets, Horikoshi could have easelly writen the exam to be more complex then just smashing robots, enabling him to pass it through wit, becoming the first quirkless student in U.A, having access to the Hatsume that way, and getting gadgets from her, there is already a quirkless guy in the spin off that is pretty strong and doesn't have access to U.A's tech and infinite funds. He could even have done it like Shinso, getting into U.A through another department and then transfering to the hero course, but he is just another example that the author is able to write way better underdogs than Deku. Also, needing powers to be a hero is bullshit, we´ve seen heroes with quirks way weaker then some of the gadgets Hatsume creates, and she is still a student. If you hate walls of text then just don't read them, but, since you responded to my comment, I saw fitting to explain my opinion, since you disagreed with it, I'll read your walls no problems though, it thats less then a minute, it's not that hard
Mirio Togata is my most favorite anime character of all time. I felt like my heart would implode when reading his scenes when he was fighting Overhaul and his thugs both before and after he lost his quirk. Also love Eri a lot. Just thinking about when she finally got to smile gives me half a heart attack.
He will be too powerful if he took one for all. Imagine him fighting all for one, he can literally stand there and let all for one attack and it won't even hit him. And then you give him one for all? Who can be this guy.
One continuity gripe I have with Mirio's quirk is the fact that, as they mentioned, while he is using it, photons arent hitting his retina, so he is essentially blind. But following that logic, the same should also be true for the rest of his body, making him invisible as well, and yet we can still see him. Thats cheating.
I guess his quirk doesnt allow average spectrum light to pass through his epidermis. This could be used later on to exploit a weakness to certain light waves that he cant phase through
@@dakotayupyupyup8377 I suppose that could be it, but that'd be weirdly specific... especially since our skin already lets some light pass through as is.
I think us being able to see him makes sense since we're looking through a God's eye perspective by being the audience. But you're right. I call bullshit because not only can we see it, the characters fighting Mirio can as well. Deku and co could see Mirio, which is why earphone jack girl blushed and covered her eyes when his pants fell off and Deku flinched when he went for his blinder's touch move against him. Therefore, your bullshit calling is valid bullshit calling.
Mirio lost his quirk and he instantly decided to throw hands with one of the most powerful people in the series no hesitation he could’ve been killed in a single touch but he didn’t care, the best part? He was winning for a little bit. Even without his quirk he was still top 10-20 hero’s.
Wait, if Eri actually figured out how to use her Quirk.... Could she restor both All Mights power and body? Alternatively.... Could she restore All For Ones body to a useable state? Maybe even be used to bring back some currently missing limbs... Just thinking about Eris potential to help people throughout the story now is just kind of mind boggling to say the least.

Wow I never thought of that before! Nice
But both of them make mistakes that lead to their horrible, horrible downfall
For Mirio, it was his reckless, almost blind heroism, which made him try and fend off Overhaul and his goons by himself in order to protect Eri, and this led to his eventual loss of his quirk after being shot by one of the quirk-deleting bullets, this is a lesson that Deku took to heart, that being to not jump onto situations with no way to come back from them
For Overhaul, it was his lack of empathy and care for his own comrads, and the way he slowly broke down into your generic, old japanese media villain.

For if the future is indeed immutably fortold… then my demise is but moments from that confirmation, for I… I could not live if not the master of my fate. I wonder if he will, instead of getting his quirk back, become the Batman of the series, like Deku should thematically have been
That spot's already taken, at least in the Vigilante spin off manga
Deku being a powerless hero would fulfill nothing. That was never the intention & even then being powerless isn't that cool.

Just thinking about when she finally got to smile gives me half a heart attack.
just imagine phantom menace with one for all 100%
GLORIOUS
Mirio is nearly as glorious as Bobby Rood
He will be too powerful if he took one for all. Imagine him fighting all for one, he can literally stand there and let all for one attack and it won't even hit him. And then you give him one for all? Who can be this guy.
Your neglecting the fact All for one plays dirty. He would target civilians and put mirio In complex scenario.
Returning to this video after Chapter 292 of the manga. Bruh
@@TheSpeep I think thats it tbh
I think us being able to see him makes sense since we're looking through a God's eye perspective by being the audience. But you're right. I call bullshit because not only can we see it, the characters fighting Mirio can as well. Deku and co could see Mirio, which is why earphone jack girl blushed and covered her eyes when his pants fell off and Deku flinched when he went for his blinder's touch move against him. Therefore, your bullshit calling is valid bullshit calling.
I think only the other part of the light spectrum passes through him tbh
I kinda wanna see a spin-off series or manga of what if instead mirio actually got it
Great job! LMillion is my Favorite my hero character, and it was nice to have a video explaining exactly why!
Mirio lost his quirk and he instantly decided to throw hands with one of the most powerful people in the series no hesitation he could’ve been killed in a single touch but he didn’t care, the best part? He was winning for a little bit.
Even without his quirk he was still top 10-20 hero’s.
He's more like Lucas from Mother 3...
Mirio's design, from his name to his favorite things, is genius. I hope to write that well one day
I didn't like him at first, but now he's one of my favorites.
Also known as "Vault Boy"
Mirio is still my favorite character ever. Nobody can tell me otherwise
A lot of people could really be in a good position with her powers help
The glory of funny valentine next
yes! yes! yes! YES!
The *patriotism of Funny Valentine
This man will become one of the worlds greatest heroes. And forever has he changed how the world will look at superheroes and their powers.
It's Vault Boy from Fallout or Lucas from Earthbound, or Tin Tin
Me to Mirio: I luv you luvely boi ♡♡
Me after Mirio gets his quirk taken: OH MY LUVELY BOI !!! NOOOOO !!!
