Shinsou is one of my favourite character (if my profile picture didn't made that obvious enough) and there's one thing that I really like about his writing : the parallels between him and Izuku. Let me explain : -Izuku and Shinsou are both born with an ability that they can do absolutely nothing about (well, in Izuku's case more like the lack of ability)and that makes them disadvantaged in the society they live in. Because of this thing they have no control on they both faced a lot of discrimination but also bullying from their peers (in Shinsou's case it's less shown but when you got literally everyone telling you that you would be a good villain with that quirk, a literal criminal, it must hurt quite a bit. Plus chances are he faced a lot of isolation since it would make sense that people would be scared that he ends up using his quirk on them while talking to him) -Despite everyone telling them they aren't fit to be a good hero, they're still determined to become one and are ready to do everything to achieve their dreams (okay maybe not EVERYTHING but you get what I mean) -They both got the chance to end up being mentored by a pro hero which is a major step forward toward their goals. If they weren't mentored by said hero, chances are they wouldn't be where they are today. I find all of this parallels particularly interesting when you think about the fact that Shinsou and Izuku are the opposite side of a same coin when it comes to their future. Izuku will become one of the greatest hero, in the spotlight of all the media and loved by everyone. He's destined to become the new symbol of peace, or maybe something even more greater. Shinsou will also become a hero, but a much different kind. With his quirk being in the spotlight would hurt him more than anything, so he'll probably become an underground hero just like Eraserhead. Both of those kind of heroes are absolutely essential in the hero society and despite them being opposites, they are still extremly close. But who knows, maybe I'm just over analyzing everything. Still interesting to think about, isn't it ?
So while Izuku's trying not to blow away buildings with his Smashes, Hitoshi is tricking villains powerful enough to one-shot him into walking right inside jail cells. A strange and compelling duality.
I think that was the point, to build him up as an antagonist and overall seem shady...and then reveal he's actually a pure-hearted boy who just wants to be good

I LOVE SHINSO! Kind of annoyed that the anime didn't add in these between scenes with him and Eraser head. Hopefully they do it foreshadowing is a must for me when it comes to writing. And a Shinso arc would be amazing. I think the fight he had with Deku was good enough character development. I kind of want him to show off and become part of class A or at the very least class B. A quirk evolution for him would make me that happiest person in the planet. But the thing I am most excited for is the year 2 Sports Festival because I think that is where he will shine the brightest especially if he is off screen grinding.
I also feel like Shinso's mic also comes from Present Mic, as well. Another major voice-based hero and best friend to Aizawa just seems like a good influence.

Mic's quirk is voice based, like Shinso's. Also his appearance is almost like a mix of Aizawa's and Mic's (minus the indigo hair) Shinso has baggy eyes like Aizawa but also hair that's put up like Mic's.

You don't really have any basis for saying that. It is never explained how much or how little it takes to break it or if it varies. We only saw that it in one instance took a bump to the shoulder, and in the other case it might've also only needed than BUT Deku was running 100% mode and broke his fingers regardless.
Shinso’s character represents our society in a way how people are being judged based on looks, career choices, etc. and how having strong determination not to give up and make it to your goals in life is something we should all strive for.
As you underline it, Shinso quirk make him a prime candidate into some special force or secret task group. His power and limitations make him unfit for hero duty. Not only he cant fight machines, but the Hero system in BnHa is based on popularity, and shinzo is useless if you know him and his quirk. My point is : The entrance exam may be unfair, but it is not flawed, it fufill its intended purpose.

@Travis Marray Aizawa is in a similar but different situation. When Quirk is the main threat. Quirk erasure is a really powerfull counter. If Shinzo had no condition he would be at least on Aizawa quirk level, but having to answer a question is a really hard limiter. Even knowing Aizawa quirk its hard to avoid it, while Shinzo is no issue if your just slightly carefull, and battle damage canceling the mind control is even worst as battle damage tend to happens a lot on a battlefield.
@Chance i think the robot not reapearing is more a 'quirk' of the author writing, than an intent. On the Aizawa case he cant handle robots, but knowing Aiza power dont prevent it from working, with the knowledge if you want to counter it (the power already being a counter) you'v to invest a lot off means, (like full mutant band or machines) ==> you gotta spend a lot of ressources, meaning adding Aizawa in any team, demand a big investment from the opposing team to not fight with an handicap. In the same situation with Shinso quirk knowledge you'v no expense to make to counter it, just dont answer questions, its easy and cheap. making Shinso always a wasted spot. Mind control is kinda usefull in rescue as you can calm people and coordonate but its not that great.
I'ts really dumb to say to someone they fit perfectly to be a villain... "hey, person who has an extremely powerful quirk that can decimate us all, you can be a villain!! wow"

I do love Shinso and Aizawa’s relationship, Aizawa didn’t have anyone to really guide him and sees himself in Shinso. You could assume with Aizawa and Shinso’s quirks that they’re prime villain material but that’s what fun about them. They may have villainous quirks but it’s how they use them that makes them heroes
I sympathize with him a lot. Most of my life I was misstrusted by society because of my nationality and I've seen other people like me suffer with gaining trust of others too. Over the years all these bad comments and situations get to people, they realize that no matter how hard they try, they will never be fully accepted into society. So they turn against it and it ends badly... Can't really blame them. It takes a lot of strength to withstand it and hold on to high moral standard. Which is why Hitoshi is one of my favourite characters and I cheer him on so much.
I just love how he seems like a villain, but actually he could be an INCREDIBLE hero. Almost any villain could be instantly stopped by him, so long as he's clever about it.
Excellent video. For me what I like about Shinsou is that he represents two meta-themes present within MHA: 1) stereotyping and 2) prioritization of skills and abilities. Quirks are an inherent part of MHA's society and it is very clear that the society places certain Quirks above others. This makes sense for a Quirk like Todoroki or bakugou's relatively will be favored than say, Mineta's Quirk. This is the real world equvalent of valuing skills, like Math and reading as opposed to art. And like our world, U.A's entrance exam represents how this can be flawed as it disregards the potential of these lesser skills. Shinsou's power of Brainwashing being a great example of this for, as shown in the SFA, can be devastating to others. Hence, the association of being an antagonist. But like Bakugou, this superfical level of judging people is frowned upon in MHA.
I remember seeing shinso during the tournament arc, but damn, other then kirishima I never fell in love with a character, then seeing his backstory really hit me, I love it

Does anybody remember the secret "save someone from the zero point bot" rule? I do believe that this is the only rule that makes weak quirks get into a decent hero class in the entrance exam what made the entrance exam so unfair was that this rule was kept a secret (but then again if it was made public we would just be proving Stain's point and it'll be hard assessing genuinity)
I hope he becomes the hero he hopes to become. He has a super power that usually given to villains in comics and to see him to use it for good is awesome.

I do love Shinso and Aizawa’s relationship, Aizawa didn’t have anyone to really guide him and sees himself in Shinso. You could assume with Aizawa and Shinso’s quirks that they’re prime villain material but that’s what fun about them. They may have villainous quirks but it’s how they use them that makes them heroes

I sympathize with him a lot. Most of my life I was misstrusted by society because of my nationality and I've seen other people like me suffer with gaining trust of others too. Over the years all these bad comments and situations get to people, they realize that no matter how hard they try, they will never be fully accepted into society. So they turn against it and it ends badly... Can't really blame them. It takes a lot of strength to withstand it and hold on to high moral standard. Which is why Hitoshi is one of my favourite characters and I cheer him on so much.

I just love how he seems like a villain, but actually he could be an INCREDIBLE hero. Almost any villain could be instantly stopped by him, so long as he's clever about it.
I loved this guy the moment he stepped on the screen. Hated him during the tournament. And loved him after his flashback and loss to Deku.
Excellent video. For me what I like about Shinsou is that he represents two meta-themes present within MHA: 1) stereotyping and 2) prioritization of skills and abilities. Quirks are an inherent part of MHA's society and it is very clear that the society places certain Quirks above others. This makes sense for a Quirk like Todoroki or bakugou's relatively will be favored than say, Mineta's Quirk. This is the real world equvalent of valuing skills, like Math and reading as opposed to art. And like our world, U.A's entrance exam represents how this can be flawed as it disregards the potential of these lesser skills. Shinsou's power of Brainwashing being a great example of this for, as shown in the SFA, can be devastating to others. Hence, the association of being an antagonist. But like Bakugou, this superfical level of judging people is frowned upon in MHA.
I remember seeing shinso during the tournament arc, but damn, other then kirishima I never fell in love with a character, then seeing his backstory really hit me, I love it

Does anybody remember the secret "save someone from the zero point bot" rule? I do believe that this is the only rule that makes weak quirks get into a decent hero class in the entrance exam what made the entrance exam so unfair was that this rule was kept a secret (but then again if it was made public we would just be proving Stain's point and it'll be hard assessing genuinity)
I hope he becomes the hero he hopes to become. He has a super power that usually given to villains in comics and to see him to use it for good is awesome.
