Aw so beautiful with the snow in Hallshtatt ! I went in january but there was none :( I've read the article about how many tourist there is right after my visit and I was so shocked ! I loved the sachertorte :D The salt mine tour is so cool ! Really nice video !
Wow Snow White.....looking so beautiful, it’s so very cold, nice Christmas markets, yummmy food....nice pelicans....awesome scenery around...Christmas makes everything so special....great share...very informative
Love the lakes is Austria! So many beautiful views. That sachertorte looks amazing. I don't even like chocolate, but I think I'll have to try one next time. Looks like a great trip even though some things were closed for Christmas. Reminds me of our time in Austria. Good memories!
I loved Haufbrau Haus! Salzburg is one of our favorite places on earth! So picturesque! I’m a flute player, so I’ve played many of Mozart’s works! We were there in the springtime, but I’d love to go in the winter, especially around the holidays. We took the train through Graz on to Vienna. The scenery is amazing! I’m sure now the mayor of Hallstadt wishes he had tourists again. The schonbrun (sp) was a great visit for us. Now I wanna go back to Austria!
I did Salzburg/Vienna in 2004 so good memories here. I never travel at Christmas but Europe is always very festive that time of year so maybe I should look into it. Nicely put together.
What a wonderful place and way to spend holidays! I would like to visit all the places in the video! Yesss! Sound of Music is one of my favorite musicals. Must visit there!
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
We would love to do a road trip like this, even if it's winter! The landscape is so beautiful with the snow! Such a shame that Frozen make Hallstatt suffer from too much tourism. All the chocolate you had looks amazing! I (Marion) love cakes and chocolate so I would gain so much weight there. The cake with the 34 chocolates seems amazing! Beautiful view from the fortress and Hofburg palace is stunning! Vienna seems like a great place to celebrate NYE! Beautiful video that makes us want to travel in Austria!
christmas eve in the philippines is very very festive haha everywhere you look there seems to be people crowding and celebrating unlike the empty streets you've shown. YOUR EDITING is AMAZING so professionally done! I always love watching your videos! few months till christmas :)
I feel sorry for the Hallstatt residents, having so many tourists outside of their home all the time. The Sissi ticket seems worth it. Hope we can all enjoy a new year celebration with a big crowd for 2021.
Let's hope we can indeed, unfortunately I highly doubt we will have a big celebration for 2021 with what is going on at the moment. At least Hallstatt should be quiet at the moment.
WOWWWW! Winter!! We don't have snow here in Vietnam so this is a great experience watching from your video throughout your trip! Would you get back here someday to immerse yourself into the atmosphere again?
Idk of I would visit in winter. But I love a nice Christmas market. Omg when you guys got up after Christmas and see that beautiful scenery!!! Absolutely beautiful!!! How long is the area kind of shut down for Christmas? Just a few days. And I love Frozen but never looked up what area inspired the town in the movie. Definitely looks like it.
This was an amazing trip! The views are beautiful with the snow :) I don't think we can do cold anymore since we have been in the tropics for most of the last three years :) Great tips about getting the card to get a discount on seeing the main sites.
Really great video, I like the way you bring us into the trip! I feel like this style could be used commercially for differen't municipalities' tourism organisations!!
6 years to make one chocolate or 6 years to perfect it? I love all the outdoor skating rinks. I will definitely bring my skates with me when I repeat your journey. Silly you testing all the chairs. You were missing the expert Goldilocks. Merry Christmas!!
It would be an amazing journey...but as a family, we'd need to take our relatives along and rent a pretty big AirBnB. Can't NOT have our family at Christmas. But maybe...it's worth it!
I have been following you for awhile and I really love your story telling. I am looking forward to learn from watching your video. I tried skating while visiting Salsburg it was one ,I see you had a clip in the video. Did you try doing that ?
We didn't ice skate unfortunately on this trip. But we did it in Moscow the year before. That was the first time for my girlfriend to try, so we started to learn her more ice skating here in the UK. Now we just need to bring this back in practice again.
@@Svenywhere I had no plan for ice skating before but the environment was so contagious I mean you see all people enjoying so much there then I eventually ended up doing that and that was my second time only trying that so I was barely holding up. But yes it was fun.
Never saw one of those chocolates before. They look yummy! Oh...Oh...Oh...I love Sound of Music! Did they actually shoot it there or did the reproduce it on a set? Maybe you should re title this as a Chocolate Cat tour 😋😋😋 Were the Opera tickets cheaper online?
They actually shot it there. The tickets are probably same price online, but they will be sold out if you try to buy it at the door. It only costs €9,- for standing tickets.
April has always been interested in Mozart, so would enjoy visiting Salzburg! Oldest salt mine in the world, cool. Too bad Hallstatt has this problem with over-tourism. Do you know if has gotten any better since then? Does your future still seem as bright as it did on this New Year's Eve? 😉
My future does. My travel future will be in the end, but yeah a lot of trips cancelled. In regards of Hallstatt. At the moment it is good of course, but I believe as any other place that when Covid is over it will be back to normal I am afraid.
@@GoTravelOnTheCheap Well currently all the places that were meant to be busy aren't. Unfortunately I think for this year that most of the Christmas activities and New Year Activities are cancelled.
It really depends. €44 is for two people so €22 per person. It depends, it also took you up the mountain which offered great views. I have done this before so I could have skipped it, but if you never did such a thing before I think it is worth it
It is never guaranteed. But if you go up in the mountains high chance you will find snow anyway. The December month is nice because of all the Christmas markets.
As long as you are aware that in the town itself there might be loads of tourists. However, it is also worth either walking up the mountain or taking the cable car up and making a tour through the salt mines, the views can be fabulous up there if there is snow. It is worth visiting, but if you have a car some other places along the different lakes in the area might give you a similar experience with less tourists.
@@bonniea8189 No idea, but if it is anything like the cities in Europe such as London, those tourist amounts definitely went back and sometimes even beyond previous levels now.
you didnt include anything about the actual road trip. I wanted to know how was the driving in winter and renting a car and parking etc. What you covered has been covered by hundreds of thousands of other channels.
Really enjoyed your storytelling in this video Sven. German food and Christmas feels like the perfect combination to me! Hearing about Mozart's talents at such a young age makes me feel bad about myself haha. It looks beautiful there by the lakes, especially when the weather cleared. That salt mine looks really cool and the slide was unexpected! Had no idea that Hallstatt inspired Frozen... Haha so many chairs! Vienna looks great to NYE too
Unfortunately yes, so far only being able to show the world the places around me locally. So more videos of London to come but when we can travel you see further trips here again!
Svenywhere thanks for sharing mate...living in tropical countries, winter wonderland and four seasons climates are alwys my my favourite destination....
Would you visit Austria in winter?
Greetings from Vienna, Austria!
great video.. Thanks for sharing as we are about to book our winter NYE holiday in Vienna.. Cheers!

Yeah a balance is difficult. At one point you want less tourists the day after you want more.

Beautiful video, I love Austria and seeing it in winter was lovey
Once again you bought back some lovely memories. Thanks, I will never forget the slide into the mines ❤️🌈👍
You have visited the Saltmines in Hallstatt as well?
Svenywhere 56 years ago 👍
Might have changed a bit since the last time you went there.

Thank you so much. I really wonder how Christmas would look like now. Winter Wonderland has been cancelled in London due to Covid.
In Austria Christmas Eve starts at 4pm and is usually spent purely with family. That is a major reason for the shops being closed in the evening.
Beautiful!!

Why not do the trip with the whole family? And rent that big Airbnb that would reduce the costs.
