I have and will always recommend just leaving a level alone if you need to. Demotivation is never permanent; if you got the urge to make a level in the first place, that means that this spark will eventually come back. This allows you to both not force yourself to build in any way while also greatly improving the quality of your levels by creating at your best and resting at your worst.
Maybe for others but not for me, I have like 5 very goof layouts that I want to finish/decorate but I just don't know what to build there and for deco, I'm not good at decorating and when I try decorating I get really demotivated quickly because I don't know what to do and if I know I don't how to make it.
I want to quickly comment on the ADHD thing as someone that has it as well. An interesting thing I found with the creatives in the world is that most if not all of them show major signs or have been diagnosed with ADHD or a similar mental condition. For those that have anything related to Autism, ADHD or whatever just remember that just because it is harder for you to unlock you are probably also far more creative than a lot of other people are. This is why it's also so hard for us to really focus on something for a prolonged period. We just think of stuff all the time. The real skill is finding if, where and how you want and can utilize this creativity. Not everyone will find the GD level editor a place for them to express their creativity and that is totally fine. Very good video, man!
As another "creator" with ADHD, i can tell motivation is really hard to work with. Personally i just get the random urge to build an idea, but that motivation is only temporary so i end up giving up. I finished my first level like two months ago, and while i dont think its rate worthy (i still havent gotten any feedback from any creator since I'm too lazy to advertise it), im proud of it and the fact that i finished it. Currently I'm working on another level and i only have the final part left, been sitting there for about a month. Hopefully i can finish it some day too Really liked the advice given on this video as well as the editing, good job my boy ausk
This comment was very nice of you. It's good to know that there are other ADHD creators out there that we can relate to. I totally feel what you said here. Thank you very much for the kind words and positive feedback :)
@@auskgd i have the exact same issue too, i hear a song, vision a dope level, start creating, i get like 30 seconds in and all my motivation dies, its extremely hard to stay focused and motivated with adhd, even WITH medication
My tips: Don't be scarred of starting new projects without finishing others. It helps coping with lack of variety and you can always use the ideas from several levels to make one great singular level. Also if you got no motivation to finish one or two last parts just because you got no idea for design, just play around the editor and try some new things to you and after you make something that satisfies you, you'll quickly get motivated again.
7:37 As someone with ADHD and Autism, i can completely agree with this statement. Im a layout creator and I make it through the first 30 or so seconds of gameplay just fine, but then everything else just falls apart. Ive only ever gotten past the 1 minute mark on 3 layouts. Out of probably 60+.
For my motivation I make levels depending on the song, sometimes. There's this level with really high bass, so I have lots of moving objects and changing colors to sync with the music and it's absolutely amazing to play. I also have another level called Optical Travel, which i'm building to be a travel level with modern design, inspired by my all time favorite creator Optical who retired from the game a few years back.
I used to create a lot of levels back in the day (even tho they were sh*tty as hell) but then I noticed I was creating less, to the point where one day I decided to stop. A few *years* later, I got a new level idea (well actually it's 6 levels but they are all come from the same project). I published my first level, it was not rate worthy but I still was kind of proud about it. However, I gave up once again on my second level. At first it was just a deco issue (I suck at decorating) but I was getting more and more demotivated as the time passes. Move on to today, when I got yet ANOTHER idea for a level, then I came across this video. I don't know if it's a sign or something but I makes me a bit more motivated than several minutes ago. My personal take : when building a level, you don't care about how you can get lost in the editor as long as you're having fun. However, creating a level for no concrete reason or doing it so you might get CPs can make you feel overwhelmed because you feel like creating is a chore. You're starting to get bored or annoyed and you want to quit it for now, or forever. (sorry if I repeated what you said in the video lol) My comment might be biased because I'm the type of guy to get ideas for levels easily but end up never releasing them.
*- - - How to get good at creating - - -* Step 1, beginnings: Create random level. it can be as bad as recent tab or you can challenge yourself to aim making a bit better level than recent tab, repeat few times. Step 2, discovery: As you learn how to use basic blocks and hazards you can start playing around with triggers. Try color and pulse triggers first, watch one or two tutorials and move to more generic triggers like move and rotate triggers. Avoid going for hard triggers like Spawn, Instant Count or Collision triggers as they are hard to learn even for experienced players. Step 3, decoration: Learn how to use basic decoration blocks. for example, check how Robtop decorated his first few levels. Try to remix one of main levels. Step 3.1 (Optional) hacks: Download megahack V7.1 (or any most recent update) and start playing around with different creating tools. You need to use scale hack if you want to improve at all from this part. Step 4, exponential growth: download Worst gdps (WGDPS) and make one 30-40 second level and spend just 24 hours in the editor decorating it. *DO NOT CREATE LAYOUT FIRST!!!* Creating layout for WGDPS slows you down and bad gameplay is actually good for getting levels rated. Step 5, accomplishment: 1 in 3 levels gets rated in WGDPS so you should get some CP and finally feel accomplished. Step 6, community: Try to reach out for other people to collab (really? yes, real collab) and create few levels, get friends and have fun. Step 7, break time: Now you should have quite a lot of creator points in Worst gdps and you can move to something simpler like 1.9 gdps to relax and create just for fun. Step 8, the return: You have enough skill to finish feature worthy (or even epic with enough dedication) in the main game. Go back to creating levels and spend +50 hours on one level. Step 9, Request: Level request streams are great way to spread your levels. Don't get frustrated if your level does not get sent by first mods, keep doing it to few more. Step 10, Realization: Wait few weeks and check your profile, there is something new. A brand new stat called; CP 2
Another good tip would be that use music that fits your building style. For example, if you build a demon, try using a bit more complicated music, since demons have more complicated gameplay. Also use music that you actually like, building a level with a song that you absolutely hate would be pain.
I have the motivation to create levels, because I wanna prove to myself that I'm able to do so (mainly because I'm not very experienced with deco and i wanna get better). But my main issue is trying to find ways of adding more details or just improve the level in general. And I get demotivated because I feel like I could spend hours experimenting with ways to improve my deco. With no ideas or concepts to use or save for later. And because of that, I recently said I would stop working on it because I was unable to find more to add.
I have always tried to make and levels and finish them, but it always happens to me that I have no ideas for a part or I try thousands of times to decorate a part to make it look good, and I start another, over and over again until I have approximately 25 levels that I have put effort into them without finishing (in a lapse of 2 years), I might as well have left the game for 2 long months, because I felt totally unmotivated, mostly because a friend who always encouraged me to continue my levels simply stopped playing GD for a while, recently I have been trying to continue and finish my levels once and for all, I've always felt that my levels are complete rubbish compared to everyone else's levels, even though they are pretty decent after I take a look at them when I finish creating some part on a level, I have always been very afraid of asking for feedback, because mainly having to talk to other people and having other people give their opinion about something that I have done makes me extremely afraid, it must be because of my autism and ADHD, in addition to that my creation process is reaaaaaaaally slow, and that's what demotivates me the most for a while, I hope I can finish even 1 level once and for all. This video really taught me that I shouldn't be so hard on myself and not take the game very seriously, and I hope I can finally get really motivated and have fun at creating, thank you :)
that's the spirit bro. Dont be too hard on yourself :) also, regarding feedback, you can always dm me!!! i forget to reply often but you can remind me if i don't reply in a day or two
I have like 100 mostly partial layouts, and a few partially decorated levels, completed my first layout like 3 years ago, never finished a level. I hope this gives me some insight I didn't see before lmao. I usually just get bored and make a new layout then repeat and never finish anything. My reasons: yes, creator points, but I just want to have one single rated level, and I want to finish at least one level I am proud of. I assume motivation will come after I finish a level I am actually proud of, but who knows.
Honestly, the hardest part of building for me is knowing that what I build won't be considered high enough quality. I don't really care about the creator points, but I can almost see my level failing in the middle of me making it. I usually finish like half of the level, and then I see the amazing things that other people make and realize that my vision isn't turning out the way I want it to. Then I proceed to add tons of stuff that clutters the level, get demotivated, and stop creating for a couple of weeks. Rinse and repeat. Because of this, it usually it takes me around 6 months to finish one of my levels.
Well Ice Age is going to be finished anyway because I plan for it to be my final project (Haven't shown it on UA-cam but there is a preview out there) it is my most ambitious by far and will really reflect my improvement since my first two disgusting levels, as it is my third/fourth attempt at an ice theme (and I have made 17 other levels so far, most of which are levels I have no interest in making with 2 exceptions, the rest of which being the few I uploaded months ago) I really can't wait to finish, however the layout has taken 3 months or so to get to the point I am at mainly due to a lack of time put into it, but by the time the layout is done it will pick up a bit as parts can be decorated easier than built, as I am always incredibly concerned with my gameplay now after the disasters of my first few levels.
fr this is the first video of yours I've ever seen and I'm already subbed, gd channels for sure are something very interesting, different and cool beside other games channels, there is always something new at the gd youtube community!
I wanted to update brerakout for the players enjoyment but I completely forgot to factor that in by allowing them to play it. I'm extremely motivated to get a revised version playtested that surely most will have fun with. So far besides the people getting to me, I loved revisitingb and balancing a buffed insane demon from insane (2016) to extreme for no reason (2019) to extreme but unfortunately turning out bad (2023) but now I can just focus on making it how it should have been: Fun fast insane demon (2023R). I hope I can get surv's approval for this. Ryli did help me out too when I wasn't feeling good so thank you again!
as a creator that almost never finishes a level and releases levels only on rare occasions, i have a level that i lost motivation to build on. it was an entry to JamAttack's CC4, Gridlocked. after a while, i just started to not like how it was turning out. while i can't watch the video as a whole right now, i try to take the tips in this to heart.
I was doing a level and i left it because i don't know what to do now, so i started another (and is a third level that is completly forgotten) I never finish my levels because i lost the idea that start it
what you've said in this video is completely true, I'm glad you did this video because in the future i wanna try to get a lot of creator points but i also wanna do levels that are fun and have fun while doing it, this video made me realize that the second reason is better than the first one I've said here, thanks you so much Ausk! ;)
True, i have this issue from some months ago with a new one lvl i'm working on, the thing goes worst when u do not get rate o Stars at least; all that time to just a simple mod Say: Not sent 0_0 This is Even unfair with the favoritism of some mods, one clear example is some terrible levels of Krmal (This is not again him, just an example) get rate like nothing and some really talented creators are ignored or just get any stupid answer with no idea of what or HOW can do to get that. I've seen Robtop rating SO many levels mods just denied, it's and will keep being a terrible rate system, it really must change! The burnout and time are things that should be take over SERIOUS considerations... My honest opinion
Which is why I emphasize that building for creator points is not a good idea. You end up being demotivated only because a moderator denied your work, when getting a send shouldn't really be your final goal. If you enjoy yourself in the process, send or not, rate or not, you won't really care, since you can always make another level and have a good time with it, and still be proud of your work In addition, we all know the rate system is a little inconsistent, but that's just how it works, since rates are subjective to Rob's opinion (and sends are subjective to mods' opinions); and personally, while that does have a lot of flaws, I do think it's much better than having a "mechanized" way of rating levels in a "line" standard/objective kind of way. Still, people like saying the system is unfair and stuff, which I don't think is entirely true. Unlucky cases do happen, and when you're well known it's easier to get your levels more out there, but that doesn't make it impossible for unknown creators to get rates. I once had 0 creator points, just like many creators now. Honestly, the way sends work now, if you have a good level that is rate worthy and it gets seen by a moderator, there's a good chance Rob will see it (and most likely rate it). If he doesn't see it, there's like 90 other mods who can get across your level, and i can think of at least 10 mods who stream or take requests often. I think this "oh krmal makes bad levels and they get rated, but not mine" way of seeing it is a little immature. If people realize it's just a video game, this kinda stuff will just be considered funny instead of a huge problem as people make it.
@@auskgd It doesn't matter if my lvls aren't rate or anything, and Krmal yes, i have seen people saying the same, maybe i wasn't clear about that point but favoritism on this Game is real, u could believe it or not but me as an underground unknown af creator/player also knows HOW that works, it's even more hard to get rate or cp's when u have not a little image at this game. I can't deny the fact of luck and unluck exist and it is just a game but the rate system is so Bad Even Stormfly Made a video about, guess y should check it, thx for reading this
i like how the way this video was made follows everything you said, which is basically proving that you believe what you say rather than blurting out information
Can confirm "borrowing" others' content can help a lot. I didn't know where to start with a web UI project (ADHD wooo), so I got on Google Images and started copying a dashboard I liked. - I didn't end up getting far with that specific design, but it did inspire me to create a flatter, and arguably nicer, design, which furthermore led to learning the SVG format so I could make modern-y line art icons.
i remember being your friend ingame before RubRub came out. I think you removed me at some point after you got popular but i dont care. its great to see how far youve come ! :)
my apologies, i sometimes purge the friend list and remove people i havent really talked too. Nevertheless, i appreciate the kind words and the support over the years :)
When i use like level creators in games, i get to a point that i am happy with but then run out idea but still want to continue the level, also my main motivational factor is achievements so when i get happy with something i feel achieved which makes me feel less of a need but i still want to make a level so i just get like really stressed with it and i just stop making the level.
Building levels for me is not necessarily hard, its mainly just me never being able to put my ideas into a level exactly how i would like to which usually leaves them feeling somewhat messy
About the last tip, "dont try to impress others." I only make layouts and my philosophy is to make levels for other people to enjoy. Would that fall under trying to impress others? Personally, i dont care how impressive my layouts look, (i mean, theyre layouts so theres not much there) i make them so other people can have fun with them.
Not necessarily. If you're also enjoying yourself in the problem and you're making a level for people to have fun, I don't think that's going to be much trouble, unless you care too much about negative feedback. For instance, if someone doesn't find your level fun, that could demotivate you - unless you're building primarily because you like building.
@@auskgd unfortunately, not many people actually criticize my levels, though im sure they do have some, but any time anyone actually does, i do take the advice. Tbh, all of my friends who see the comments are more hurt by it than me.
I'm glad to hear!! You can note it down or draw a sketch of it in order to avoid forgetting it lol, at least for me i totally gotta do that, otherwise i WILL forget. Best of luck tho!
Steps making a level (HkRines Edition): 1. Motivation 2. Layout 3. Fuuuck i need to finish last part of the layout with 99% perfect sync 4. OMG HOW I WOULD DECORATE THIS WHOLE 1 MINUTE LEVEL AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH 5. Drop it 6. (Repeat step 1)
i have motivation like i want to finish my level before 2.2 comes out but i think i'm just burnt out cause i've been grinding the level so hard recently, i've also been working on the level for like 6 months which is just crazy
Whenever I get demotivated is when I am just lazy or I just remember that even if I make these banger levels, they wont even be played by anyone because I cant upload them. So normally Id just build for fun and its good to take breaks from time to time. :)))
This is the reason i only make layouts. Demotivation really.. REALLY sucks. Idk, i just dont like spending hours to make something. I kinda want to.. But always give up on the level when i decide to decorate it.
something else: if you're not motivated to finish a level, don't delete it, keep it there. I often revisit my past projects and you should too because you might want to finish it if you see it again some months later
i really gotta finish my level dreams i managed to finish a level tho so i think i will be able to do it again, hopefully (comment written before the premiere)
I have a super good friend. Hes crazy good. He was in silent acropolis, and now just got a part in ascension to heaven. But, the thing is, being friends with him and seeing how fast hes progressed is pretty crazy. Then I look at my stuff, and im just sitting here thinking "man. I suck." and i would ask him how he always has motivation (because he literally always does) and he would say because he just enjoys creating. But the thing is, I dont. I dont seem to really enjoy creating. It seems so serious, so competitive. If i make something without a serious purpose then its trash, ill think its pretty good but everyone else will point out the things I did wrong. which probably leads to my demotivation
Try to develop a sense that you're building for yourself. If your goal is for you to happy with the level, uploading it and getting negative comments with be more of a "side effect" thing. You'll be happy with the level nevertheless because you like it, despite the "public" response. Make it for you and enjoy yourself in the process. The uploading part of it is just the very final part. Hopefully this makes you enjoy creating more. If not, i'd just take a break from the game (or creating in general) in order to develop that spark for it again. Also, personally i try to avoid playing too many levels by other people (unironically, i play more levels by myself than other people except when i actually do want to play other levels) because that can lead to a sense of competition and comparison which isn't very good for motivation. Hopefully this helps, thank you for the comment!
@@auskgd Thanks for putting your time into that response. Ive been grinding for my first extreme, so not playing others levels is something im not sure will work for me. But everything else ill keep in mind while trying to create something. Appreciate it, great video :)
I personally don't give a damn about creator points, since, as you said, it's just a stat But I do care about if my level is being rated or not, because essentially, if a level is not rated, people will not care much about it and that's just more demotivating than anything I know there's gotta be a system to filter out the trash from actually good levels, but as a beginner creator, it feels like you have to keep up with the high standards of whenever you start out creating
In that case, you could try to learn a bit more about optimization and how to use less objects to make more detailed designs - or even try out a more simplistic style such as modern!!!
Ive been building what my thoughts are and feelings, also i like to try new things out but yeah my motivation is because its more or a escape into problems
whole video in nutshell: greed // basically how to stay motivated is just you like doing it, don't force yourself creating. This applies for anything that requires creativity.
I've made exactly one decent full level. Other 2 were pretty bad but at the time I thought they were good. If I finish my current level and it gets attention I will return to this video.
I have demotivation problem in GD. I really want to get a rated level but I suck at decorating and making enjoyable gameplay 😔 Sometimes I even give up few seconds after creating level
I think creator points should still be there because rob uses them sto discern how trustworthy a creator is, but I think he should make them only visible to him and maybe mods or something, then it's not a status symbol but still useful for rob
I disagree - it's just a stat like any other (stars, coins). I don't see how people could be bothered by seeing someone having many creator points. If it leads to envy or comparison, that's more of a personality issue rather than an issue with the stat (or the displaying of it). With that being said, I don't see how hiding it would help with other people's motivation as those aren't connected factors
I just like to create leve... Nope. Layout's, Decoration part is a choke point. It's like watching drawing tutorial and then seeing empty paper in front of you. I have no idea what objects i need to use cuz there is like 100500 of them. I know how to work with triggers because i love programing, but i have no idea how to create something "cool lookin" and there is almost no good tutorials for it. Even when I like something from tutorial I don't want to copy it. So I still can make anything good xD. Maybe I should start from simpler decorations? Idk
Robtop should change the name of creator points or change the abbrevation seriously CP sounds hella weird like if i go up to someone that does not know what geometry dash is and say i finally got CP, i would be cooked.
I don’t have CPs, but I think mostly because I don’t have time, I am really motivated by the satisfaction of playing a Level by myself, which I am proud of 😊
I get motivated because I want to be the best. Like, the best. I got my first creator points a month ago and my goal to the end of the year is to get into GD awards, because the competitive feelijg is what motivates me the most
While you do make a fair point here and this may help you temporarily with motivation, it's not a very sustainable source in my opinion. Getting into GD awards can be related to how known your level gets, and being the "best" creator is also very a very relative thing by itself, if you mean being the best in other people's eyes. Some people might think you're the best creator, others might think otherwise, which makes it an unreliable source of motivation, but if it works for you, for now, go for it.
my creative process “i should make a level with this song its a really cool song and i can imagine how the gameplay would go” ten minutes later “why does this one part of the song last FOREVERRRR this suuucks!!1!1!1 punches hole through monitor”
I would say something too, have a gd friend that’s a badass at building levels, good deco. I make good gameplay, but I suck at deco. And it’s the opposite for my friend.
I couldn't finish my level because I had to reinstall my windows which wiped my disk and I also didn't know that all the levels I built and didn't upload were stored locally on my pc R.I.P. trash levels that never had a chance of getting rated anyway
Some extra tips:

My personal take : when building a level, you don't care about how you can get lost in the editor as long as you're having fun. However, creating a level for no concrete reason or doing it so you might get CPs can make you feel overwhelmed because you feel like creating is a chore. (sorry if I repeated what you said in the video lol)
My comment might be biased because I'm the type of guy to get ideas for levels easily but end up never releasing them.
I'm really glad this motivated you, even if a little bit!! Thanks for commenting and good luck.
what biased mean? I'm from brazil so idk the meaning of some words but i ironically can use them in a sentence
In this context, biased means that my "condition" has an impact on my opinion.
@@DarkAngry oh i now get it, thanks
W video
My advice is to set small goals. I manged to break from my creating slump by making a literal single block in a new style.
W comment. Great advice here, I might even start doing lol.
*- - - How to get good at creating - - -*
Step 1, beginnings: Create random level. it can be as bad as recent tab or you can challenge yourself to aim making a bit better level than recent tab, repeat few times.
Dont be too hard on yourself :)
also, regarding feedback, you can always dm me!!! i forget to reply often but you can remind me if i don't reply in a day or two
I have like 100 mostly partial layouts, and a few partially decorated levels, completed my first layout like 3 years ago, never finished a level.
Best of luck :)
2:14 THANK YOU, OMG I HATE THAT UFO TOO I DON'T GET WHY PEOPLE DROOL OVER IT LIKE IT'S A GIFT FROM THE GODS
LOL
7:26 My cycle isn't... Good... It's inspiration, motivation, half, action, burnout, no motivation. Repeat.
Ryli did help me out too when I wasn't feeling good so thank you again!

as a creator that almost never finishes a level and releases levels only on rare occasions, i have a level that i lost motivation to build on. it was an entry to JamAttack's CC4, Gridlocked. after a while, i just started to not like how it was turning out. while i can't watch the video as a whole right now, i try to take the tips in this to heart.
good luck!
I was doing a level and i left it because i don't know what to do now, so i started another (and is a third level that is completly forgotten)
I never finish my levels because i lost the idea that start it
what you've said in this video is completely true, I'm glad you did this video because in the future i wanna try to get a lot of creator points but i also wanna do levels that are fun and have fun while doing it, this video made me realize that the second reason is better than the first one I've said here, thanks you so much Ausk! ;)
The reason I can't finish my levels is because I make my gameplay too fun and I keep replaying one part over and over and I never get past that part
LOL i do this a LOT.
True, i have this issue from some months ago with a new one lvl i'm working on, the thing goes worst when u do not get rate o Stars at least; all that time to just a simple mod Say: Not sent 0_0
This is Even unfair with the favoritism of some mods, one clear example is some terrible levels of Krmal (This is not again him, just an example) get rate like nothing and some really talented creators are ignored or just get any stupid answer with no idea of what or HOW can do to get that.
If you enjoy yourself in the process, send or not, rate or not, you won't really care, since you can always make another level and have a good time with it, and still be proud of your work
In addition, we all know the rate system is a little inconsistent, but that's just how it works, since rates are subjective to Rob's opinion (and sends are subjective to mods' opinions); and personally, while that does have a lot of flaws, I do think it's much better than having a "mechanized" way of rating levels in a "line" standard/objective kind of way.
I can't deny the fact of luck and unluck exist and it is just a game but the rate system is so Bad Even Stormfly Made a video about, guess y should check it, thx for reading this
i like how the way this video was made follows everything you said, which is basically proving that you believe what you say rather than blurting out information
thank you so much, im glad you think that :)
Pro tip: make whole level 75% Black, it looks cool And take less time
Awesome video dude, very helpful!!
thank you :) glad it was helpful
I always make like 5-40 second level then I quit And many people told that it will become featured if it would be longer
i remember being your friend ingame before RubRub came out. I think you removed me at some point after you got popular but i dont care. its great to see how far youve come ! :)
my apologies, i sometimes purge the friend list and remove people i havent really talked too. Nevertheless, i appreciate the kind words and the support over the years :)
amazing vid, i agree with many of the points you made :)
thanks :)
When i use like level creators in games, i get to a point that i am happy with but then run out idea but still want to continue the level, also my main motivational factor is achievements so when i get happy with something i feel achieved which makes me feel less of a need but i still want to make a level so i just get like really stressed with it and i just stop making the level.
very solid video, expected you to have more than 3k subs tbh based on its quality
i appreciate that and im glad you liked it :)
Ive built over 600 levels (like 7% Are empty) and Im not demotivated. Until its time to finish the level…
Building levels for me is not necessarily hard, its mainly just me never being able to put my ideas into a level exactly how i would like to which usually leaves them feeling somewhat messy
I enjoyed the video. You literally explained my whole stuff in 1 video
love this vid man! this will definitely be useful for me
Never finished a full level despite having over 400 levels in my create tab
that's what happens to a lot of people actually, you're not alone in this
About the last tip, "dont try to impress others." I only make layouts and my philosophy is to make levels for other people to enjoy.
Literally just watching gis gave me a good idea. I'm gonna finish my current project first tho...
I'm glad to hear!! You can note it down or draw a sketch of it in order to avoid forgetting it lol, at least for me i totally gotta do that, otherwise i WILL forget. Best of luck tho!

Steps making a level (HkRines Edition):
1. Motivation
2. Layout
3. Fuuuck i need to finish last part of the layout with 99% perfect sync
4. OMG HOW I WOULD DECORATE THIS WHOLE 1 MINUTE LEVEL AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH
5. Drop it
6. (Repeat step 1)
1:02 broski tryna make us waste our money, stay vigilant homeboys
i have motivation like i want to finish my level before 2.2 comes out but i think i'm just burnt out cause i've been grinding the level so hard recently, i've also been working on the level for like 6 months which is just crazy
6 months in that time i make a level and remake it better or just different 20 times
Thanks for this video, now I can be motivation!
😭
Whenever I get demotivated is when I am just lazy or I just remember that even if I make these banger levels, they wont even be played by anyone because I cant upload them. So normally Id just build for fun and its good to take breaks from time to time. :)))
this is a good vid! i consider myself lucky to be able to commit to levels likel i do so ive never had this problem but its still helpful!!
thanks! also thats good to hear
0:38 I was so confused I thought he said “avoid the motivation”
The auto generated captions got it wrong…
This is the reason i only make layouts. Demotivation really.. REALLY sucks. Idk, i just dont like spending hours to make something. I kinda want to.. But always give up on the level when i decide to decorate it.
I know Im not the only one who makes a layout for a level and just ends up playing the level over and over without making any deco for it
something else: if you're not motivated to finish a level, don't delete it, keep it there. I often revisit my past projects and you should too because you might want to finish it if you see it again some months later
I have so many ideas with potential, but when I make it, I keep getting bored, now I already have over 1000 unnamed levels in 2 years
i really gotta finish my level dreams
i managed to finish a level tho so i think i will be able to do it again, hopefully
(comment written before the premiere)
i just can't stay motivated no matter what i do, i don't know how to build, no creativity whatsoever, i just give up, i don't even wanna play
7:00 the do something principle! hehe
I wanted to make a level in your style but couldn't be bothered to make those colorful glow circles you put in one of your levels
I personally don't give a damn about creator points, since, as you said, it's just a stat
But I do care about if my level is being rated or not, because essentially, if a level is not rated, people will not care much about it and that's just more demotivating than anything
I know there's gotta be a system to filter out the trash from actually good levels, but as a beginner creator, it feels like you have to keep up with the high standards of whenever you start out creating
for me its not the lack of motivation, it’s my slow ass phone that cant handle 20k objects in the editor without lagging on start pos
In that case, you could try to learn a bit more about optimization and how to use less objects to make more detailed designs - or even try out a more simplistic style such as modern!!!
@@auskgd yeah im trying out bli’s style
Ive been building what my thoughts are and feelings, also i like to try new things out but yeah my motivation is because its more or a escape into problems
whole video in nutshell: greed // basically how to stay motivated is just you like doing it, don't force yourself creating. This applies for anything that requires creativity.
I've made exactly one decent full level.
Other 2 were pretty bad but at the time I thought they were good.
If I finish my current level and it gets attention I will return to this video.
I create because I either want to torture some level requesters or because I have an idea of a more complicated memory level
I have demotivation problem in GD. I really want to get a rated level but I suck at decorating and making enjoyable gameplay 😔
Sometimes I even give up few seconds after creating level
I think creator points should still be there because rob uses them sto discern how trustworthy a creator is, but I think he should make them only visible to him and maybe mods or something, then it's not a status symbol but still useful for rob
I disagree - it's just a stat like any other (stars, coins). I don't see how people could be bothered by seeing someone having many creator points. If it leads to envy or comparison, that's more of a personality issue rather than an issue with the stat (or the displaying of it). With that being said, I don't see how hiding it would help with other people's motivation as those aren't connected factors
Thanks! I'm a creator myself, so this is helpful :)
My problem is that I can't find a good enough song to use sadly :(
I think thats what's mainly stopping me.
Idk
rare and extremely relatable video but quick question whats the first level in the background of the video
thank you, also it's Well Rested by overdefo
The “cp farmer” at 5:30 sounds really bad when put out of context 💀

Reason why I can’t finish a rate-worthy level: I’m lazy
I have to stay motivated to verify the levels I have built
I don’t have CPs, but I think mostly because I don’t have time, I am really motivated by the satisfaction of playing a Level by myself, which I am proud of 😊
I’m on my 7th level. One of them is finished but it’s too hard for me to verify without getting demotivated
you can try and find someone who can verify it for you
My demotivation problem is:
2.1 is old
I get motivated because I want to be the best.

“i should make a level with this song its a really cool song and i can imagine how the gameplay would go”

All good in all, but how do you stay motivated, I am always burnt out.
