- With a life and history as impressive as Walt Disney’s, it was a challenge to pick just five facts about the man who created Mickey Mouse; produced the first full-length animated musical feature; founded Disneyland and Walt Disney World; and so, so much more. This isn’t just any video, however-with this video, we will have shared 100 facts in our “5 Facts” video series! What better topic to ring in our 100th fact than the man behind the magic? Watch the video to learn about Walt’s early work in animation, a certain rabbit with a lot of luck, an out-of-this-world attraction with surprising origins, and more.

How about 5 facts about Beauty and the Beast please? Since it is celebrating 30yrs this year and so am I as I turn 30yrs old as well.
Walt was a genius, the likes of which this world will never see again. I'm beyond grateful that he build his magical world that continues to inspires me and countless others all over the world. 🙂
The things Walt accomplished in just a decade (from Mickey to Snow White) yet alone the whole 40 odd years he was in the movie business. An American Original. There will never be another like him. I am forever grateful for his company for giving me happiness and inspiring me to dream.
Maybe there will be another person like him if one looks hard enough. Who knows? Maybe a certain someone has the very same talent, mind, dreams and drive as Walt once had.
Walt would be very disappointed to see how the company's being managed today 😞
Yes, i think that too. Walt made movie for everyone, not just for money. Disney is not so good anymore😔😔
Yeah he'd hate the new technology that's less practical and more digital, but I think he'd just be a typical sour grandpa stuck in the old days lol. He likes reminiscing old things, nothing so modern and new unless it benefited him.
Fact 6 - He was a Way Better Man than the Bobs.
Bob Iger was a great CEO Bob Chapek on the other hand not so much
*Self-proclaimed Iwerks-Disney Historian here!! :)*
I will add to the fun facts that were in this video.
1) Walt Disney's ambo partner was Ray Kroc, the same man who is known for taking over the McDonald's industry (watch _The Founder_ ), also they both lied about their age to enter the army.
2) Laugh-o-Grams was NOT Walt's first company, his first company was the Iwwerks-Disney Studio in Kansas City!
3)Oswald was made with Ub Iwerks! And after Laugh-o-Grams, Walt never personally animated again, he was busy directing instead.
4) _Steamboat Willie_ was NOT the first Mickey Mouse cartoon, it was _Plane Crazy_ (which failed since it was completely silent), and both were animated by Ub Iwerks each within 2 weeks (That's 750 frames a day, yikes)
5)Walt liked hotdogs (no surprise, he also liked pizza but he could eat a hotdog within 10 steps)
6)Tickets to Disneyland used to cost One Dollar.
*Note:* Normally, I like roasting Walt, but credit is where credit goes, a lot of teamwork was put into his dreams. Starting with his brother Roy O. Disney, Ub Iwerks, Lillian Disney and later his own daughter Diane Disney Miller.

I suggesting reading about him, but literally all if his biographies roast him literarily because it shows both the beauty and the ugly side to his personality. If you want to see a romanticized version of his story without the correct information then search up that one movie with the mickey mouse cloud (it has too much misinformation, and I'm saying that as an Iwerks-Disney "Historian").
It is very important to clear up all the misinformation and slander spread about Walt.
Please, I'm a Iwwerks-Disney Historian. I personally have a vendetta with him, and he's not the best person but you're right, there are facts about him that are more amusing and annoying than he is bad. He just has a terrible yet healthy ego. Lied about his age to join the army, that one's funny. No, he is not anti-semite, that's a rumour, BUT he was racially insensitive, as all people were back then. Had about 13 different stories about how he made Mickey Mouse when his friend Ub Iwerks designed like 5 characters for him while Walt was on his way back to LA from NY; and they both selected the best and most simple design while NOT on a train. He collected miniatures, gave a necklace of all the oscars he won for Lilly to wear (all he did was produce, his team got nothin lol). Oh he backed and funded (practically created) the HUAC committee where Hollywood actors were blacklisted for life. He was genuinely afraid of mice, and he didn't animate a single day after Laugh-o-Grams. I dunno, no one is interested in his daily mundane life like I am, since it's my job but at least I can say he was kinda trash to his co-workers and never properly credited them, because it was a "group effort" :) But he got better after he got lung-cancer. Oh did you know his horse killed a person in a polo accident, his neck was calcified and that's why he stands with his neck out oddly.
TLDR; there will always be slander with true information, but yeah it's best to clear up the misinformation :)
@@Watson_Holmes why the hell do you have a vendetta against Walt Disney. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? Walt designed the first Mickey Mouse, Ub perfected it. Walt created those films so should get credited. It seems to me that you are one of those people who dont think the leader should get any recognition, which is a terrible viewpoint to have.
@@Taydar dude he never animated, refused for any animators to write their names on their cells, Ub drew five different prospective characters first before Walt came back from his NY trip and Walt and Roy and Ub chose which one was better together and it was a mouse. Chill. There's a reason why Art Babbitt hated him and many of his own animators boycotted him like why should Walt walk off with 4 Oscars when his team did all the work? He was never the CEO either, not saying he didn't do anything but you need to calm down.
@@Watson_Holmes dude that's a load of bullshit. First Walt actually drew the first Mickey Mouse, Ub just refined it. Two he did do some early animation when in was in Kansas. Three Walt was the creative lead on all projects and founder of the studio so of course should be presented the awards Four, Art Babbitt only hated him because he was corrupted by unionists. Get your fact straight and LOVE WALT.
@@Taydar if you don't wanna believe who drew the animals first go read some biographies that aren't romanticized by Walt's 13 different stories on how they created the mouse. Yes Ub refined it, never said Walt didn't come up with the design, calm down. Just said Walt told them to come up with some simple designs before he arrived, and one of them was a mouse, and I never said it was Mickey Mouse. Second, why would you assume I don't know he animated before his company, all I said was that the last time he ever animated was in laugh-o-grams. Third, of course he was in charge of creative production, it's his company and he wants it the way he did his name is on the line. Fourth, who cares if it was the unionists or Art Babbit, saunter around the WDFM and try to search for names associated with most if any of the beautiful artworks and you won't find them, and countless of interviews show how fearful his own too animators were of him. Fifth, not only did Walt essentially refuse to raise wages or credit people, the least he could do was acknowledge his teams on the Oscars, I was very proud of Parasite doing that with their own team when they also won four Oscars. Sixth, don't make me love him, I don't hate him but your anger from defending Walt blinds you from what I say. I didn't study their history for naught, I studied to help people understand what happened both good and bad.

Those were not 5 facts but one long story devided into 5 segments.
