    I just miscarried last week at 9 weeks. I had watched your miscarriage story back when you posted it and revisited it when my miscarriage started unfolding. I’d never ever heard such a detailed and raw account of what was to come and it helped me so much. Thank you so much for your vulnerability❤ I’m so excited to see you carrying your rainbow baby. So happy you were able to have a day where you felt good enough to film!! God love those days. I'm 13 weeks and only just started to feel semi-normal again. Crazy how much it varies from one day to the next.

    hello! just throwing a scenario out here for when ultrasounds could be life saving since you mentioned that most times you can’t even do anything about it when it’s bad news but my friend had a condition called vasa previa that was caught early on. because it was noticed, she and her baby could be closely monitored and delivered safely. if she didn’t do an ultrasound the baby would not have survived delivery since the natural birth would have ruptured the blood vessels that was lying across the cervix. just something to think about.

    • @NikkiPhillippi
      @NikkiPhillippi  5 місяців тому +2

      Thanks for your concern! I’ve already discussed this with my midwife and we feel comfortable that my body would present symptoms that would lead us to an ultrasound and more support if needed….apparently typically if you have placenta previa you start bleeding at some point and it’s a fairly consistent red flow…basically, we will continue with our “plan” unless my body seems to be doing something that seems “off” or odd to us…🙏🏻

    I love your pregnancy choices! For my first babies, I didn't get any ultrasounds for the same reasons that you aren't getting any. But things really changed. I had several losses in a row and was advised to take blood thinners for my last pregnancy. I went from wanting a home birth (I had two home births in the past) into actually feeling like that wasn't the right decision. I got ultrasounds at 13 and 19 weeks. It was reassuring to see that baby was healthy but to be honest, I didn't feel reassured for more than a day. It was such a mentally stressful pregnancy. A big reason why I wanted the ultrasounds was to celebrate my baby just in case baby didn't survive. Anyway, it's so important to listen to your gut. I ended up having a hospital birth and baby didn't do so well in labor and we really needed to be at the hospital. I'm so glad that I listened to my gut (or maybe it was God telling me what to do.) I don't think I could feel comfortable having a home birth again. But I am happy to see other women choose to birth at home because it is so beautiful! I wish you a beautiful and safe birth and a healthy baby!

    What?! I have never heard anyone say that hyperemesis is caused by eating junk food. I was always told that they don’t know what causes it but it possibly has to do with the rise of HCG. It is very strange that some women have it much worse than others. I was terribly sick most of my pregnancies as well. It’s so hard but the end result is so worth it! Big hugs Nikki! Growing a baby is tough work. You’re doing great! ❤

    Just finished reading Job this morning in a study I’m doing by Daily Grace called Eden to Eternity.. this is one of the practical application points of job. God does as he pleases, but he also is a God who restores- there’s so much mystery involved in life- I think he makes it this way so he gets the ultimate glory! Such a beautiful story!
    My theory around this kind of pregnancy sickness is exposure to mold, parasites, bacteria, ect in the body.
    For example, before I got pregnant with my first I did an intense cleanse. I felt amazing the whole pregnancy. The second time around there was hidden mold in my bedroom wall. I was very sick the first half of the pregnancy.
    Have you ever done a stool test for bacteria/parasite or a urine mold test since you moved into your new location?

    • @NikkiPhillippi
      @NikkiPhillippi  5 місяців тому +1

      Well first off idk what’s going on with my google but in general when I look things up now (as of recently) I get “conflicting” answers…like on everything…they will show me two different kinds of answers that are opposites if that makes sense…lol I love that tho!!! I just read things…articles and then books that are mentioned…I talk to people I know and have a history of trust with…bounce things off them…watch videos…news clips…interviews with drs, midwives, doulas…both of the crunchy camp and the more traditional western medical model camp lol …Ted talks….etc…and ultimately I go with what I jive with after all of that….🤷🏻‍♀️🙏🏻

    • @NikkiPhillippi
      @NikkiPhillippi  5 місяців тому +1

      In general though…the further I go the more I jive with lowwww intervention and even monitoring if possible….i mean ultimately I actually just believe in the woman doing what legitimately makes her feel the SAFEST (not only for her heart but also for the progression of labor!) but ya….low testing, low interventions…all that jazz actually makes the most sense to me in general at this point 🙏🏻

    I can’t wait for the baby! Sending love and prayers ❤❤❤
    So I’m a little taken aback right now and this a very random comment. I just received Nourishing Traditions in the mail (have been hearing people rave about it for years and finally bought it because of this interview I saw on Alex Clark’s podcast). I started reading and was really into but I had this eerie feeling that kept tugging at me so I eventually just put it down. The next day I happen to look at the cover (I never looked in detail) and saw a naked woman’s breast out and realized it feels very new age to me I didn’t know why. It was really bothering me last night because I couldn’t put my finger on it but I didn’t want to pick it up again of that feeling I had. This morning I decided to look up the cover design artist and, someone please correct me if I’m wrong but…I found an article that says she’s currently working on art for a deck of tarot cards??? I know there’s a lot of very good useful information in this book but I can’t in good conscience as a follower of Jesus support something that is directly supporting occult activity. I’m pretty bummed about this because I couldn’t wait to read this 😭😭😭

      1. Thank you for your love and prayers!!🫶🏻
      2. Whoahhhhh! That’s wild! Very interesting…honestly, you don’t even have to read the book. Lol i own a copy but I never refer to it…I’ve listened to the audio book multiple times though to soak up info…that being said, I don’t even necessarily agree with all the conclusions he came to…but it’s fascinating and has been useful info for me while navigating food and different dietary opinions…that being said, I can promise that at this point there are enough people already talking about the book on youtube that you could easily pull the principles without having to read the book:)

    I had to leave the group after my second due to HG PTSD but those women are rockstars.

    Whether you believe in the negative effects of ultrasounds or not, I think an important thing to remember is that if the result of an ultrasound would not change the outcome of your pregnancy (in terms of “knowing”, or termination for medical reasons), then there is no reason to get one! People feel very judged and triggered if someone has a different viewpoint around things like that, but you do you. Wishing you so much love and luck for the rest of your pregnancy 💕

    I'm curious if you ovulated later than you think and that's why you had such a faint test at 5 days after your missed period (where it should be pretty positive by that point) and couldn't see anything on the ultrasound because maybe you were earlier than you thought. And why you felt like it wasn't possible to be pregnant based on what happened (or didn't happen lol) 🤔

      @@NikkiPhillippiit could happen for sure!! I chart my cycles and one cycle I ovulated day 15. Generally it was between day 17-21 that I'd ovulate (longer cycles). So back to one cycle I ovulated day 15. The VERY NEXT cycle I ovulated day 30 or 31. I could even grab a screenshot of my chart and temps and periods to show you! It can definitely fluctuate a lot! I think my case is abnormal, though I know it can easily be the same month to month to month and then jump 3-5 days depending on stress, etc. :)

    I’m currently 16 weeks pregnant and I have a very similar conception experience to you! There is no way on paper that we should have gotten pregnant but we did, and it was in the month that I felt like was perfect timing but also didn’t make sense (we got married at 19 and I’m in college). It was my birthday month and I joked that all I wanted was a baby for my birthday, July would be the perfect time to have a baby since that was right between my semesters and I wouldn’t need a maternity leave, and people kept randomly asking us if we were pregnant. I was floored when I found out I was because I didn’t see a way it was possible, but God had been preparing my heart for so long.

      Ya…it’s low key awkward to say because you have to go down the wormhole to really understand that there is another perspective to it…otherwise it just seems “dumb” and “irresponsible”….but I feel like continuing to expose myself to more information, research, “anecdotes” from friends, etc…the more I just feel like it is what it is…thats my decision & that’s how I feel…I pray to God every day that everything is ok and I’m not making stupid decisions in general….lol but I make my decisions humbly informed to the best of my ability knowing that we ALL make decisions every day…& I’ll have to keep making decisions once the baby is here….that’s being a mom! Lol so ya…that being said, thanks for the encouragement:) aaaand congratulations mama 🥹🫶🏻🤍🤍🤍

      I’m 34 weeks with my second, and haven’t had any ultrasounds ❤️
      It’s not something I personally announce, but if the subject comes up about baby’s gender or whatnot, I just say that for personal reasons, we aren’t doing any ultrasounds unless I feel something is wrong. I’ve had funny looks but hey, it’s my medical decision for my family. Not to mention, nothing an ultrasound could tell me would change my mind about having my baby.

      @shelbyday5522 I'm thinking of doing this too! But how about positioning? Did you have a quick one to see where baby is in terms of where the placenta attached? I'm very for it so don't take this as an attack!!

      @@user-ch7zi7zn8t If we had any signs of placenta previa such as bleeding, then yes we would have had a quick one. But I know by feeling where baby’s kicks seem “softer” that I probably have an anterior placenta, which is just a variation of normal ☺️

    Yes ultrasounds are whack. I got pregnant last year and I felt pregnant like at conception, if that's even possible. I was best friends with the toilet right away puking. I tested positive really early, so when i was a few weeks past my period date, i thought I'd be pretty far along. Got an ultrasound, and they didn't see a yolk in the sac. Told me it could be a miscarriage. But here i am celebrating one year old's birthday today. Definitely can't get attached to the idea that ultrasounds can truly peek into the womb accurately.

    We think just alike!! 👍 I feel the same on ultrasounds! We only did one at 20 wks and still questioned that. I’m ol’ fashioned like you friend. In like all ways ❤ have said before, but had both home births, all natural water, and breastfed till 2 yrs 7 months and 2 yrs 9 months. (We’re done mainly bc feel like my body might not handle another-had some health issues over the years bc mold toxicity growing up and chronic Epstein Barr versus. I do well overall but the 2nd pregnancy got harder. And just with needing to live more simply, get overwhelmed easier because also grew up in trauma/dysfunctional home sadly; I want to be selfless always and give the best to my two boys already have which are such beautiful blessings! So grateful! Thankfully our home is peaceful and have an awesome God fearing hubs and daddy! PTL)

    "there are people who think ultrasound is not completely safe", that's very vague.. there are people who think EVERYTHING, unfortunately even in medical professions. concerning your examples: ultrasound can detect risks for certain defects, that doesn't mean when the baby is here it will certainly have them. the problem here might have been the communication between the person doing the ultrasound and the patient/woman receiving the information. and the second example of having a fine ultrasound and then the baby not surviving, well no one said that ultrasound can detect every single possible problem. ofc there are unexpected events in childbirth. but when there is a proven safe method of prenatal risk assessment like ultrasound then I think it's dangerous to spread a misinformed opinion online when you have lots of young female followers

      Check out Weston A Price…they just released an article with hundreds of peer reviewed studies around the potential risks…I get what you’re saying, but to make people who want to waive ultrasounds seem crazy is crazy and prideful in an of itself to me…each woman needs to RESEARCH, speak to their doctors and follow their guts around health decisions. Withholding the fact that there are different opinions is more dangerous IMO…

      @@NikkiPhillippi this is more like a narrative article than a scientific one. it seems like they take some studies of all that were ever performed instead of the largest/most recent ones. different studies have different impact factors and evidence levels. I've been a follower for 10+ years and am pregnant atm as well so I would have been happy to keep following but this is a no-go for me.. it's comparable to anti-vaccing, which I don't count as a valid opinion but a result of misinformation playing with people's fears. Noooo! Don't be stressed about ultrasounds you've gotten! It's a pretty fringe group that avoids them altogether, the majority of women get at least 1 or 2 during their pregnancy. It's not that they are necessarily dangerous, they just haven't been proven safe because it's unethical to test on pregnant women. They are most likely safe and it's advised to just limit them to what is necessary and not do extra boutique type ultrasounds.
      They have also been being done routinely for over 30 years now so we would likely be starting to see some negative trends if they really caused damage.
