I'm 65 years old. I remember listening to this tune all the time when I was in high school. Last summer I was on the highway in the right lane driving my 2020 Toyota Corolla when this tune came on the radio. I cranked it up and next thing I knew I was behind the wheel of my old 69 Chevelle SS. When the song ended I found myself in the left lane passing cars like they were standing still. I looked down at the speedometer only to discover that my old Toyota was doing twice the speed limit. This song has the power to get you one hell of a speeding ticket if you're not careful. Lucky for me I didn't get caught. That being said, I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Deep Purple Rocks!

I love this type of comment, because it's not forced and people who haven't read/watched JoJo would just think of it as a normal comment and not a reference
This song is insane. Just an insane, unhinged, Mad Max vibe. The organ solo is sublime. And this is from 1972! I only just learned it was that old, I figured it was an 80s track.
I’ve loved rock like this my entire life, after all my parents listened to it all the time. And a few months ago when I discovered JoJo and saw that the abilities were named after some of my favorite songs and artists, it made both the songs and anime even more enjoyable. Why am I rambling on about this you may ask? Because I’m tired of seeing people look down on those who discovered this music through JoJo. Personally, I think it’s awesome to see people who had never heard any of this get introduced to this amazing music. So please, don’t get all pissy when someone makes a JoJo reference or says they came from JoJo and please focus on all of us experiencing these masterpieces together, no matter where anyone heard it. 🙂 Edit: Holy wow that’s a lotta likes
DUUUUDE ! This is so true ! I wasn't a rock fan (by that I mean it wasn't the type of music we listened to) and this show made me interested in certain bands (for example, I had never lingered on Queen's songs !). Just for that alone, this manga is incredible 👌
I can relate to this deeply as I can say I've discovered so much more music because of Jojo's and it's such a good anime and all the music references make me happy because I get to learn more about music every episode pretty much

@@LOLLYPOPPE It's some kind of meme. I saw a video from whoever the hell it was telling people to use this profile pic and I needed a new one anyway. Don't know the reason behind it or anything.
This is an amazing song but not the true start of proper rock music, how could you discount the rock music of the 5 or so years before this by saying that? Weren't Led Zeppelin and Cream and Jimi Hendrix and Black Sabbath and The Who and Pink Floyd proper rock music? How about Woodstock?
@@2v_5r84 deep purple with their flowing chords, Hammond organ, and a vocalist in ian gillian were the new kids on the block in 1970. The rock world were taken by storm. I remember reading the headlines in new musical express at the time and this great new high energy sound of deep purple. They were different to the rest of the bands of the day. The bands you mentioned were exceptional and were top of their field. I loved them all, but purple were a bit different and in my opinion ahead of the field. I saw them in 1970 and they were in a league of their own. But hey! Im an old rocker and always will be till the end !
Purple do really sound a lot more like the rock and heavy metal of the 80's than any of the other proto metal bands did really. I couldn't see Motörhead without Deep Purple.

I don't think there has been another song that encompasses the theme of "highway lifestyle" more than this. It's almost like it's own genre and Highway Star is the only song that's a part of it. I haven't found a song that's made me think "This is like Highway Star" ever. It's that remarkable of a song. Nuts.
Probably not the same but you can check out "Ministry - Jesus Built My Hotrod". Different genre different sound but vibe of being fast kinda exist. Also I find the story of creating "Jesus Built My Hotrod" song is ridiculous. Have a good day!
Uh 60 km/h is like 35mph just sayin' the mopeds we rented on the Costa Del Sol were that fast. This song is more like doing 120 mph on a crotch rocket that gets wild every time you try to back off the throttle.
Of course. he was at the beating heart of a staggering, amazing band. Live, on a good night, they were quite beyond belief. I went to 2 London gigs during the Machine Head tour. Oh Boy.
This song is incredible. Before Rock Band, I had never heard it! Grew up listening to all kinds of rock but never came across this track. The ending solo destroyed me and I still internally cringe at the savagery of that part of the song 😂 brought back lots of memories. We need to make music games popular again. It helped kids discover great music from older times
I love this song; it's been in my stable since it came out. That said, there is a dark side to it. I returned to it when the grandson of a friend of mine drove his supped up car, with his girlfriend next to him, his best bud in the back seat, over a bend on a back road in southern France: "Ooh, it's a killing machine." Indeed.
This song is the reason why I started watching jojo. Also Catch The Rainbow, a song written by Ritchie Blackmore (I am his fan) used as a reference too. I must say that the author had a good musical taste. 👍

Nobody going to take my car
I'm going to race it to the ground
Nobody going to beat my car
It's going to break the speed of sound
Ooh, it's a killing machine
It's got everything
Like a driving power
Big fat tires and everything
[Pre-Chorus]
I love it
And I need it
I bleed it
Yeah, it's a wild hurricane
[Chorus]
Alright, hold tight
I'm a highway star
[Verse 2]
Nobody going to take my girl
I'm going to keep her to the end
Nobody going to have my girl
She stays close on every bend
Ooh, she's a killing machine
She's got everything
Like a moving mouth
Body control
And everything
[Pre- Chorus]
I love her
I need her
I see her
Yeah, she turns me on
[Chorus]
Alright, hold tight
I'm a highway star
[Organ Solo]
[Verse 3]
Nobody going to take my head
I got speed inside my brain
Nobody going to steal my head
Now that I'm on the road again
Ooh, I'm in heaven again
I've got everything
Like a moving ground
An open road and everything
[Pre-Chorus]
I love it
And I need it
I seed it
Eight cylinders, all mine
[Chorus]
Alright, hold tight
I'm a highway star
[
[Guitar Solo]
[Verse 4]
Nobody going to take my car
I'm going to race it to the ground
Nobody going to beat my car
It's going to break the speed of sound
Ooh, it's a killing machine
It's got everything
Like a driving power
Big fat tires and everything
[Pre-Chorus]
I love it
And I need it
I bleed it
Yeah, it's a mad hurricane
[Chorus]
Alright, hold tight
I'm a highway star
I'm a highway star
I'm a highway star

Classic song from a classic album. I was in 10th grade when Machine Head was released and Deep Purple instantly became my favorite group.

Better than the beetles, IMO. This song should NOT be played while driving, unless you're on the autobahn 😎🤘🏻💯
Why Mozart? So fucking random
Elenka agrees! Mozart, Lennon- McCartney, Geezer Butler: I choose these as examples of accomplished songwriters. Not randomly :)

This song is insane. Just an insane, unhinged, Mad Max vibe. The organ solo is sublime. And this is from 1972! I only just learned it was that old, I figured it was an 80s track.
ROCKBAND 2007 AND THE INTRO ARE MASTERPIECES 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Edit: Holy wow that’s a lotta likes
Is that a jojo reference
Just enJoJoy It...🙌😎
Finally...
A NORMAL LOVABLE MUSIC FAN...
DUUUUDE ! This is so true ! I wasn't a rock fan (by that I mean it wasn't the type of music we listened to) and this show made me interested in certain bands (for example, I had never lingered on Queen's songs !). Just for that alone, this manga is incredible 👌
I can relate to this deeply as I can say I've discovered so much more music because of Jojo's and it's such a good anime and all the music references make me happy because I get to learn more about music every episode pretty much
Ritchie Blackmore. You always shine.

This is the true start of proper rock music, these boys will never be beaten!!

Probably not the same but you can check out "Ministry - Jesus Built My Hotrod". Different genre different sound but vibe of being fast kinda exist.

The solo on this has got to be among the best, if not the best, that Ritchie Blackmore has executed.. This track is coming up to 50 years old, too!
