UnRolling Hay in the Snow and Ice

- UnRolling hay in the first big snowfall for us in 2022 with our Greg Judy Bale UnRoller.
The UnRoller was left outside the night before, so it was COVERED in ice from the freezing rain that came before the snow. 😅🙄
The struggle was real as we had to scrap the ice from the spears and then peel the net wrap off of the bale, string by string.
Though it may have taken us longer to unroll this time, due to rain and snow, we were still able to feed our animals easily. No waiting to let the tractor warm up, or worry about busting hydronic lines with the GJ Bale UnRoller!
Not to mention as we’re unrolling hay to feed the herd, we’re also spreading fertilizer(cows manure), minerals(from the fields the hay came from) along with seeding the pastures(seeds within the bale) all to be able to feed the animals on full lusicious pastures of green grass in the coming months!

Thanks for sharing!
Greg said in a video yesterday you were getting rain then up to maybe 30" of snow!🐊🦅🇵🇷
Not sure how much Greg & Jan ended up getting, but we had right at 12" here at our farm. We're about 45 mins SE from them!
Was hard to get an accurate measurement with all of the wind causing the snow to drift everywhere!
@@therejectranch I live in Southern Wisconsin and you currently have more snow than us!! 🐊🦅🇵🇷
Well you can come get it and take it back up North! We are more of the warm humid summer kind of people! 🤣😅
@@therejectranch I don't want it either my passion is golf! 🐊🏌🇵🇷
Can't you carry a hammer sized sledgehammer and use that to help get the spikes in? 💪
🐊🦅🇵🇷👍
We do not recommend hammering the spears into the bale as you can break them if you were to beat on them too hard!
Man your cows are fat ,you doing a good job with them!
Thanks! They’re pleasantly plump! Lol
