- Buying a $10,000 hot hatch series, continuing with the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST. $10,000 CAD is $8,000 USD. Will the Ford Fiesta ST live up to its award winning pedigree? Did Jakub get the deal of the century on it at $10,000 CAD / $8,000 USD? Will Jakub's Fiesta ST be the better overall car versus Yuri's Fiat 500 Abarth?

Also those crocs, WHAT ARE THOSE?!!!
I've actually gotten Krown on my 2019 Bullitt before this crazy Ohio winter came this year. They did cake the engine bay in oil though, I wish they went lighter on it.
I know that this is a 2014 Fiesta ST, but some warranties get killed if you get a 3rd party rust protection.. just a heads up
Can't seem to find a Krown location near me here in FL.🤔

Ford: Let's just not.
There is a new St in Europe
Americans don't want tiny hatchbacks. They want shitty CVT crossovers, so that's what they're getting. Car enthusiasts are having to buy old stuff for now or go with other manufacturers like Kia and their lovely Forte GT.
This is Capitalism. You don't get what you want, you get what makes the corporation the most money, and it blows.
They are still making the fiesta st, just not in north america
MK8 Fiesta ST is awesome. Optional LSD Mmmm
@@ES350gitgapped I guess I’m not a true American since I have two hatchbacks. Fiesta st and Mazda 3 😂. Oh well 😢

@@TheStraightPipes DOES YURI HAVE THE KENDRICK LAMAR REEBOK CLAAAASSSSSICS?
@@TheStraightPipes Someone makes a 3D printed pedal spacer that makes heel-toe, and general pedal placement, so much better. Well worth it.
@@TheStraightPipes If you guys want to try a pedal spacer I'll laser cut one for you and send it over, xpresspost should get it there quick n easy.
It's...not that difficult for me, I have half my foot on the brake, half almost on accelerator and just roll the ankle a bit
As a Fiesta ST Owner for 3 years now, it's the first car I actually don't see what I can replace it with for the same price point except for a newer lower mileage Fiesta ST.
Veloster N is the new fiesta St
@@shahulhusman Yeah I heard about that. I've found a few used ones for like 32k CAD, but that 3rd side door conflicts me. Maybe once 2021 models will be around 26-30k on the used market, I'll think about it. I still wanna see how great the engine and trans hold up to abuse before making a move.
I will love my FiST to death and then it's probably the N for me.
*Nah, too heavy. At the end of the day, every car is still too heavy. You can't make up extra weight by just adding more power. That's why I don't want to replace my FiST.*
Let's all do our part: call or write Ford US Customer Relationship Center and tell them what their American customers want. If we all contact them, maybe they'll realize it's a profitable business decision to bring the Mk8 Fiesta ST 6 spd manual transmission to the US/North American market. Wouldn't hurt to ask for the Mk4 Focus ST and/or the Puma ST 6 speed manual as well!

I’ve had my 14 ST 8 years now and I’m still in love with it, it just turned 90,000 it’s on a stage two Cobb tune, 3” exhaust short shift kit and a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4’s, it’s the most fun I’ve ever had driving and I’m 72 years young. The Fiesta Flash. 🤙🏼🍺
I'm 50+ and had my 2018 for 5 yrs. Love it still. Probably keeping it till the end of I C E. AND Beyond. No E V 4 me.
people have been saying it closes the gap on the sti in it's habitat. pretty wild.

Crocs with socks? Officially a dad. 8:38 They are even freakin camo. This guy. Embracing that dadlife.
c'mon, that's gotta be an easter egg. Crocs? really. Maybe their foot model is a 70 year old woman.
This was the comment I was looking for as soon as I saw the crocs. (PS...A dad that wears crocs with socks... how else am I going to take the trash out?)
That made me laugh out loud lol
Ain't nothing wrong with crocs and socks. As long as they don't leave the house
As an owner of a FiST, you have no idea how long I've been waiting for you guys to drive one of these. Few things:
Yuri. I'm on Bilsteins right now and the ride quality is actually much better than stock. The stock suspension is actually wayyyyy overdampened and you start noticing it more over bad bumps or broken pavement. But the stock suspension does handle amazing without them, I'll give you that.
Turning ESC all the way off does soften the brake trq just a little, but it's still there.
Watching you guys do the visors knowing what was about to come next was like watching a car wreck before it happened.......Too soon?

I’ve had this as my daily for just about 2 years. Simply put, it is the best newish car for the money on sale today. The car has handled everything - carrying people, large items (like IKEA furniture or a large freezer), snow, rain, dirt, and of course carving backroads in a “spirited” fashion. No understeer whatsoever, it’s shocking how balanced this car is.
I recently moved cross country in late January, and drove this with a massive Thule box on top, and the majority of my clothes/possessions inside (even the summer tires!). With Blizzaks it can handle anything up to 12” of unplowed snow before getting stuck, and FWD just fine in any US city. It’s 2700lbs, so as light as an MX5 or S2K, being just as fun with way more practicality. And the power is more than OK... it feels way quicker than 197HP and 0-60 in 6.5...
I’ve thought about trading for a Focus RS, STI, or Evo X one day, but just can’t do it. Don’t believe the extra payments would be worth it.
I’d recommend the FiST to anyone. They are awesome!
Would it fit a mountain bike ?
what tyre profile are you running in winters ?
Sport mode: traction and ESC both turned down to 20%
Hold button: traction and ESC both fully off.
The braking the inside wheel is always on.
And i hate its still oN.

i drove Uber in a FiST for about a year and people absolutely loved it. yeah it was small but that was only an issue a few times when people underestimated how much luggage they had. lots of compliments, people always surprised i drove a manual in the city. i slapped some black sparco wheels on it and tinted the windows super dark and just drove the shit out of it. i can see myself having one again someday.
I did the same, people were surprised it was stick. Made UBERing fun.
I did Uber in a FoST and people loved it too haha. Good fun for sure

That's the one down side about the Fiesta ST. I've had mine for about two months now and I've had multiple people almost hit me because they don't check their blind spots or can't see my small car even if they do. It's crazy how many people don't look before they switch lanes.
Same. It's kinda mandatory to have an exhaust so people can hear you smh
As a former small car owner, I can’t tell you how many times people almost hit me with their big suvs. I also actually got hit a few times too. People really don’t look when they drive.
@@1gboost It sucks but it's also a nice investment to make too. I'm planning on getting that taken care of in a bit
@@insainllama It's insane how many people don't look. It's always guys in huge trucks or SUVs. They're just so unaware of their surroundings
Don’t stay in people’s blind spots. Take action before an accident takes place.
Another great video. Thanks Yuri and Jakob, always look forward to watching your reviews. Best way to start the day
Your reviews are super FUN to watch!
You guys should include the weight of the vehicle when you quote the horsepower and torque. 200 horsepower doesn't sound like a lot when you are talking about a 4000 pound SUV but in a 2500 pound hatchback that would be amazing!
This is always what I’m thinking about! I feel like nobody mentions the weight to horsepower ratio unless they’re talking about the Miata lmao
Yup, hp per kg or hp per pound would be very interesting. 12.69 lbs per hp (if your weight is correct) is not too shabby.
2700 lb
If you upgrade the turbo you’d be surprised how fast these are. And reliable as well.
Well, and by all the dyno sheets you can find online, ford downplayed the stock power figures by a bit.
Yuri is 100% right about modifying the suspension. I had 3 different aftermarket suspension setups on mine and they all made it miserable to daily drive.
Yup. Don't ruin the exceptional factory suspension with aftermarket. It takes the playful nature away. It really is perfect from the factory.
@JW H The Megan’s isn’t in the same class as the Fiesta. It has a longer wheelbase which helps the damping.
KYB or factory lol
Calculate your motion ratio and use that to order custom valved Fortune Auto coilovers. Unless you did that, you did it wrong. I applaud you for trying three times, though.
The Mountune springs are mild but an improvement in handling and give just enough drop to make aftermarket wheels look good.
Both of my sons have owned Fiesta STs, both in black, and they both loved them. My oldest son reluctantly sold his earlier this year. My younger son's 2014 ST is a little more worn out and needs some work. He just bought something new and the dealership didn't really want the ST, so that was our excuse. We are going to keep it and make it our hobby car. We will do minor upgrades, take it out when the weather is nice, and enjoy occasionally flogging it. There is a corner near us that is our "cliche corner", a right hand turn lane between two 80 km/hr roads, and the Fiesta can take it at surprisingly fast speeds. I remember Jeremy Clarkson saying that there were 5 spots on his drive to work for passing, but that he found a sixth when driving the ST. I'm looking forward to a bit of father/son/grandson bonding time working on and driving a car that we all really like. We will be tracking the progress and reviews of your upgrades to see if we want to try any of them.
That's awesome
In Canada the Recaros are standard, but for the US models, they're a ~$2000 option. The standard seats are the same as the base Fiesta's, but with ST logos.
The reason I bought a regular Fiesta SE was that the Fiesta ST in the showroom had a sticker price of $29k (and it was the only one in my entire city of 300K people). When I asked the dealership "what the heck?" they said they never sell them because a Focus ST was only a few grand more. For comparison, the SE cost me $20K out the door.
The states had it made because the standard features there made it quite a reasonable price, Canada not so much (unless you really, really wanted a Fiesta ST). Same thing with the Focus RS - they cost as much as an S4 and more than an STI/Golf R. Never understood Ford's thinking.
@@tghidsgn What I'm hearing is an arbitrage opportunity!
@@tghidsgn I got my Fiesta ST in 2018 for $22900 and I saw a few in the $24-25k range. IMHO never pay full MSRP on a domestic brand, there are so many competing dealers that you'd be crazy not to pit them against one another and work them work for the sale.
Recaro option was a $3,000 option
@@barrylinkiewich9688 Similar story for me. I got my 2016 model for 22k out the door (in the US). Sticker was 24k before TTL and it sat on the lot for 6 months. They seem to be really hot used now though. I sold it last month and got way more than I thought I could.
I wish my job consisted of buying a fun car like this and making a video about it.
Make it happen King!
Jakub's smile at 0:41 is pretty much my grin every time I drive my ST, they're NOT fast but damn it feels like a rocketship and it's so engaging.
Jakub is really very very excited..can see it in his face compared to other videos...as it's his personal baby....it's truly a great purchase....can't wait for the comparison/race track video

I want one of these to have as my daily driver, we already have a Gen 2 Raptor and an Edge ST. keep up the great work guys, very entertaining!
been waiting for you guys to review the FiST not disappointed
Great vid. Love my 2015 ST, Aussie spec is a 2 door, looks awesome in Ford blue. Has a stage 1 map, lowered Mountune suspension which improved the ride marginally without losing the exciting handling, a resonator delete also helped with the pops nicely. All mild mods that keeps the original style of the car in tact. Could happily do more, but it’s close to perfect how it is. Car has 60000km on it and has only depreciated $8k in 7 years. Great little cars, total future classic and one of the best front wheel drive cars ever made. Up there with the best Renaults and Hondas in my opinion.
Finally a review of my car! In Australia, we only got the 3 doors and ours come with non leather recaros standard, no touch screen, but nice headlights with LED drls. Such fun little cars and the only new Fiesta you can buy over here is the new 3 cylinder ST! The legend still lives :D
I bought one of these last year just wanting a car with a manual and it was in my price range. I had no idea I was getting one of the best, love the thing
Finally, these cars are a gem and those who don’t have one or haven’t driven one, are missing out !!! Best purchase ever.

I called it. Fiesta ST is gonna wipe the floor. It is an amazing thing that it was produced for the price it was in the first place.
Yep I think so, Abarth is a cool car too, but I think the Fiesta ST is going to be more track capable.
WOW! That Pallisade is equipped with the side view camera in her dash if she bothered to signal left before going in to your lane. Lucky she didn't hit you harder with your family on board. Nice buy!
She didn't shoulder check, never mind check her mirrors or some silly monitor on the dashboard. Careless drivers in these huge oversized SUVs are legitimately terrifying for small car drivers.
Proud owner of a 2015 Fiesta St, in white and no recaros. Really Jealous of this spec and color. But the car is really amazing, even as a daily driver, especially for the price. Fun to drive, looks great, great gas mileage, fairly spacious cargo hatch, and decent reliability
This car sounds like every cars from Initial D 😂
PS: I like the car and the anime.
Same recipe as my daily, an 05 Cooper S JCW. Really all the car most people need on an average basis, nimble, exciting enough to wake you up in the morning... It's a vehicular antidepressant

@@DirtyFiST69 definitely do! I dont see much info on aux fuel out there. Im only on a whoosh hybrid, so aux fuel might get me up to 330 or so.
@@zachc3878 I know some whoosh hybrids are making mid to high 300's, so you can prolly get a little more out of it, but idk as far as longevity, everyone on the forums says it's a solid turbski though. There's one dude pushing 394 whp with a 25 shot of nitrous I think, so you can definitely hit like 360's-70's but that's also dependant on a lot of things like which dyno, elevation, temp, humidity and blah blah blah.
Anyway, sorry for the long ass paragraph, I should have it up and running by end of week or early next week, I'll try to remember to come back and comment, lol.
I've owned my Fiesta ST for 3 years now. I bought it with only 33 miles on it and have beat it every mile since. It's now up to just a shy over 35k miles and still strong as ever. I rallycross mine all over the country and often times I'll drive it to an event, race, then drive it back. Most events are 6+ hour drives for me but the Fiesta doesn't care. I go in, kick butt and drive home.
I really, *really* love my Fiesta.
I love that you guys get cars I would get.
Love my FiST! Bought a molten orange 2015 new in 2015 (so I got to do the Octane Academy). Mine also has recaros, no sunroof and navigation. Once the warranty was over I got a Mountune cat back exhaust, cold air intake, and larger inter cooler with a tune. I also had Mountune (in SoCal) install a Quaife limited slip differential. Totally worth the expense and 850 mile drive to have the work done!
Imagine the things Ken Block would do to Cliché corner 😂
"halogens ughhh" lol :D
meanwhile try to get home at night on any half-busy road or highway: goddamn LEDs, blinding my ass up!
HIDs/LEDs are so much better for visibility too. I just point mine below the windshield line so they can't blind anyone. And of course, never retrofit LEDs in halogen reflector housings!
Back in the eighties halogens were being promoted as being superior to the old sealed beams. And they were much better . The car I have now, the headlights are amazing in contrast.
In my 2016 FiST, I swapped the stock USB unit (which doesn't offer CarPlay) with a stock F-150 USB unit with CarPlay. Works perfectly.
Get yourself a compact spare from another trim level Fiesta. They are available in aluminum and are lighter than the stock spare, and also let the trunk floor go all the way down. It will surprise you how much more usable it makes the trunk. They are typically $85, but can be much cheaper if you find one at a local recycler. It seems like such a small thing, but it was one of the most useful things I did with my Fiesta.
This was my favorite car I ever owned. Only flaws were the rock hard suspension (this was my daily) and I couldn't see anything out the back.

As an Abarth owner I'm mad I need the 595 review as well 💢
Loved my FiST. The weight and cost of those wheels were a deal breaker for me. Turbo smart dual port shortie BOV was money well spent on that car. Made it so much fun to drive. That tri coat molten orange was awesome to wash....such a beautiful color. I left my suspension stock. Just did motor mounts and brake lines/pads and rotors for HPDE at local track.

I'm not sure if it's different in Canada but the hp is actually 180hp and then 200hp on overboost. Great review! (I love mine!)

@@turbochoochoo not really. Don't get me wrong, the Fiesta is fantastic, but the Type R is the pinnacle of front wheel drive. I look at my Type R every day and im glad I bought it.
