  • We carry on the gibb river road but it does not let up with its challenges as we get to paradise and there is no fuel.
This week we continue from Drysdale to Mcgawon island but we soon learn that our excited mood soon gets a change as we find out there is o fuel and we get stuck. We don't let that get us down and we try and carry on in high spirits.
With no fuel we discover the remoteness we really in and with out fuel, we find ourselves in a sticky situationas we can't get back.

24:55 I always wait about 12 hours after a bulk tank re-fill. A re-fill stirs up the remaining sediment. Modern fuel stations have a floating pump but if you're in he bush - wait 12 hours.

I went fishing off McGowans years ago in a boat about the size of yours and caught a shark bigger than the boat !
I found the fishing much better up at honey moon bay…
Bloody road hasn’t improved since the 90’s

The road washes out every year, sometimes more and sometimes less. The repair job depends on how much SWEK /MRWA has allowed to spend on it.

When trolling mate get your lures in closer to the boat, You've got them way too far out. We troll using 5 lures, the one closest to the boat always catches the most fish. Good luck.

My backup plan is carry extra fuel, because you can then drive to water. I have 2 x 10 litre water jerries in the canopy - sufficient water for a drive to water or fuel.

Gday guys, thanks for the vids showcasing what Australia has to offer can't wait to hit the road next year. When you spotted the rock when in the boat, i would have dropped a line there, you don't need to go out in a boat to catch fish as the big fish can be in less than a meter of water, i was so keen to see you get a GT or Queenie, i was probably more disappointed than you at not catching anything except the tax collector, good luck be safe and c ya next year on our "forever tour"

    Hi guys
    Enjoy watching your adventure.
Really curious to know what mobile holder you use while driving
It looks like a window suction one…
I struggle to find a holder that lasts…..

Great videos as usual what is your average fuel consumption with the van on? I’ve a 79 as well and tow a van as well similar set up as you guys and how much fuel did you use on the gib. Thanks.

13:10 do you have greaseable shackle bolts on the car and van? I have a few on my Ranger GVM upgrade and some on the Vision RV van.
I know that there's a grease circuit on the hitch (not the receiver, the hitch - DO35/45). I use DeWalt battery powered devices exclusively on the road and my grease gun is a must; also carry a small pack of replacement nipples.
I have leaves on the Ranger's rear, so I pay special attention to cleaning out the inter-leaf spaces (as best I can) and then spraying those spaces from a bulk container of marine grade lubricant (like the Inox spray can stuff but way cheaper in bulk).
There are anecdotes around travellers crossing dunes (think Simpson), in the wrong season (hot) and the silica can 'weld' to the inter-leaf spaces, rendering the suspension 'unusable'.
