I love going to bookstores when I travel too, especially used bookstores. I was in Milledgeville GA several months ago and went into their used bookstore. I found several novelllas/short works by Steinbeck and a series of Trollope novels- The Barsetshire Novels…I found 4/6 hardcovers in great condition. Doctor Thorne and Framley Parsonage are the only that I am missing.
What???? I'm looking for those! I can't believe you found those in Milledgeville because sometimes I wonder if people in my area even know Trollope! 😂So hard for me to find around here. You scored with those!
I just love your joy for books.. Christmas books are such an under appreciated genre on book tube..I love them though myself...and so awesome that you enjoy children books too..😊
Omg I remember reading that Helen Keller book when I was a kid. I specifically remember reading it on the bus to and from school! What a blast from the past! Thanks!
Celestine Sibley had a column in The Atlanta Journal. What a great find! I live in Georgia so I bet I can find her work in my used bookstores. Thanks for reminding me about her!
The Frozen River was my favorite book so far this year. Martha Ballard, the heroine, was a real true person. I think you could read it any time of the year but that cover is beautiful.
Always love your hauls! Enjoyed one today on holiday in Pickering (North Yorkshire). Most disorganised I’ve ever seen but loved it! Came away with quite a few vintage mysteries- good fun.
I read The Frozen River in January this year. It is in my monthly wrap up. It wasn't on my TBR I checked it out from my library and read through it so fast!! I loved it.
Now I want to go used book shopping! What a great book haul. I went through a Delderfield phase in my teens. I think you will love To Serve Them All My Days!
I remember Ribsy. 😍I think Victorine and Head into the Wind look really good. Nice finds. I recently bought some old Christmas Carol Kauffman books. They have pretty covers. Great video! 👏🏻
I just finished a Rumer Godden book, which I found at a library sale (I think)! My friend chose The Frozen River as a buddy read, so I'm waiting for it to come in at the library.
Such a great trip you had, gardens and books 🌼📚🌼. I bought a couple Delderfield books at a thrift store and am excited to read them, I haven’t read any of his books yet either.
Hi! You found some wonderful books. I've read most of the Delderfield books about 40 years ago, and even re-read a few. (I'm not much of a re-reader) Keep an eye out because a few of them are a duology, maybe even one is a trilogy. It's hard to remember at the moment. Oh Victorine! Yes, have a bunch of her books and some of the dustjackets are lovely. Happy reading!
Hi Mitzi - you always find the best vintage books! I too have picked up a few Delderfield books and 'To Serve Them All My Days' is a stand alone. I have the 2 in The Avenue series, 1: The Dreaming Suburb and 2: The Avenue Goes to War. Haven't read yet - but there are a few others of his I have noted to pick up if I see in my wanders. Hope it's not too hot where you are! Up here in Maine we're really experiencing the season - we had heatwave conditions last week. Unheard of up here - in June especially! 😊
When I was studying in Japan, wherever I went I looked for the Book Off in the area. It became a known fact among the whole group of students, that on Mondays they told me at breakfast if they went someplace where was the Book Off in there 😅
Hey Mitzi! I have the Readers Digest edition of The Scarlet Letter! I love it! i completely agree that they are really great versions! Wow I love your China Court! What a find! I am reading it right now - about 3 more chapters to go. Enjoying it! I really enjoyed The Scarlet Pimpernel - read it for the first time in February. So many good finds!!! I love that set!!😍
Thanks! I think of you often when I come across a great vintage book with beautiful illustrations!! You would love the Liberty bookstore- lots of vintage picture books there.
Great video! Thank you so much for sharing! Yes, I just want all of Beverley Cleary's books 😊 Some great middle-grades I've read recently are Slacker by Gordon Korman, Restart by Gordon Korman, The Homework Machine by Dan Gutman and Through A Clouded Mirror by Miya T Beck
I loved “The Scarlet Pimpernel”. Have you seen the play or the movie adaptation? I would recommend them. Also, if you like the book your might like the series by Lauren Willig which was inspired by “The Scarlet Pimpernel”. The first book is “The Secret History of the Pink Carnation”. Happy Reading!
Helen Keller and I have a love hate relationship. People always ask me if I know sign language because Helen Keller did! And she didn’t of course! She learned the Manual alphabet. Completely different from sign language!
I read and enjoyed The Frozen River. It's based on the life of a real midwife. Not sure how I feel about the ending though. I can't wait to hear your thoughts.
Lol so glad I'm not the only one who checks out all the bookstore when I travel! I love all your great vintage finds!

Wow, great haul! That Victorine cover is stunning!
I can't wait to read that one!

I had that Helen Keller edition in elementary school and I treasured it!
How fun. You found some great ones. Love the Ribsy. Beverly Cleary will always be my favorite author.

What a fun adventure and a wonderful haul of vintage books!
You need to stop by The Liberty Book Co. if you make your way through Rock Hill on your next road trip!

Thanks! Love treasure hunting!

I didn't realize it was based on a real person!!
@@mitzireadsandwrites I got a documentary from my library about Martha and midwives in the 1700's

Those disorganized ones make me want to sort and stack for them! 😂
I have read The Frozen River and gave it 5 ⭐️. It was fun to see the gardens in your last video. Your haul is awesome. Glad you had a great time!!!!

It's super hot and humid today! Last I checked it was 101 degrees!
I just discovered the Reader’s Digest classics and think they are great too. At the same church sale I got three vintage Daphne du Maurier books!
What??? That's awesome! I'm still trying to collect vintage editions of her books and I've been slowly buying them for years!! GREAT find!!

Wonderful finds!❤
I was on the fence about purchasing some of the reader’s digest classics but now you have convinced me😂😂😂
They're great!
Please do a review on Victorine. I absolutely love that cover!

Isn't there 2 different so called sign languages as well? I remember when my cousin was learning to sign, it seemed there was something besides ASL.

After reading these great reviews about the book in the comments, I'm bumping that book up!
