As a Canadian who supports our national team, I'm proud of that compliment. 5 years ago, I would have laughed if you told me Messi would be playing against Canada in a competitive match alone, the fact that we didn't get destroyed and that Messi complimented us is huge. I think next, we should face Argentina in ice-hockey (in which we'll crush your spine, teeth, back and neck, with a 30-0 win), and then volleyball for the tie-breaker (both teams very good/decent at this, rated top 10).

It still hurts that he didn't show up for the Whitecaps game in Vancouver, as I will likely never get to see him play now. It was likely Tata's decision, but it's hard not to be a little resentful of Messi
As a Canadian football fan, this means quite a lot. Messi is arguably (and most likely) the greatest footballer of all, and hearing such praise from him is a testament to the development of youth football in our country.

It was a pretty good game. They were in it. But there is a gap in skill level and overall game. That being said, it was a bit of a on our part that led to the first goal. Otherwise, the first half was pretty good. It would have been awesome if one of the early chances by Canada went in. I think that would have rattled Argentina. Not saying they would not have come back from behind but ... with pressure... who knows, they take a few more chances and we get a second goal. All what ifs and dreams at this point. Clearly the stronger team won.

Not a Canadian but super impressed. Canada played amazing. They showed up against the world champions from a country that lives and breathes soccer and as admitted by Messi, the Canadians did not make it easy to win, as was expected by most.
