Honestly it's sad to see all the negative comments. Just because YOU know how to wear a strap doesn't mean that this video is useless. I bet there is someone out there who just got a new guitar for the first time and wants to know how to properly use a guitar strap and has no clue about the correct height etc.

Everyone poking fun at how basic they’re getting with these guides but honestly, I say it’s a great idea for new or young players who might be afraid to ask. We always want a good group of new players to take over some day!
New players will not be able to channel their inner rock god spirit, hold a power stance, and summons the demons of hell based on this video alone.
All of which begins with proper strap height guitar placement. This video should be at least 3 hours long.
I’m actually looking to pickup my first bass guitar soon, so this video was actually helpful.

I kind of wish the video went into strap length a bit more. As a newer player, you see stage presence on some idols and their guitar may hang down super low.. meanwhile I can only speak for myself but I can’t play chords that easily if the guitar is that low. So I don’t know how some people do it or they aren’t comfortable lol

People you are not forced to watch this. It is some good advice and tips to wear a guitar strap. So it gets comfortable playing standing, because that is a big difference to sitting down.

I recently bought one of the leather ended seatbelt style Fender straps for my Tele but for some reason I can’t attach to the end of the guitar like he does in his video. The slit on the strap is too tight. I’m not sure if I have a defected strap or not

So, To make my guitar strap more personal N cool. I took 2 of my dads old leather belts then laid the two ends on ontop of the other, lined up some holes and took leather shoe. Lace N tied the two ends supertight there not coming apart. Then you throw belts over shoulder and hold guitar. Were you feel most comfortable mark tha strap (cut 2slits/ holes. I made this bec I lost my father to cancer, so this way I feel hes always with me when I play....miss ya pops......

At first I thought this video is completely pointless but then I remembered the first time I broke a string and literally started crying because I thought I broke the guitar. So yeah, somewhere out there, there is probably a kid who finds this video helpful.

Yeah, this was helpful to me. Been playing guitar for 10+ years, but never really cared to use a strap because I never stand while playing and my acoustic has always felt light enough for the few times that I do stand. Now I play electric more often and want to get used to standing while I play.

Not much to see here; just wanted to mention that Fender sells rubber washers that go on the strap button after the strap is attached, acting like a strap lock. Very useful and only a couple of bucks.

You could have recommended to use strap stoppers (Grolsch style), strap lockers, and installing strap buttons instead of tying the thing to the headstock, which causes tuning issues

I've attached a Guitar Strap to my Sitar by replacing the screw attached to the Tailpiece with a Strap button, & attached the other end to the nut via Guitar strap lace.

I have no problem with basic videos, but, if you are going to make a very good video, for beginners, why not note and I mean this nicely, that those strap buttons get loose so easily and watching your very expensive Fender hit the floor would really suck, if you are very lucky enough to start with a very nice Fender. I respectfully don't know why it is not brought up, in a friendly way, to add a strap lock, to secure your investment, putting a nice guitar in a case with a strap sucks and for Fender...why don't you make self locking straps, strap locks of higher quality, etc, as now great Fender Artists are being endorsed by Dimarzio, Planet Waves, on and on, for great products, that fender can make easily and the list is obviously huge. I am not trying to be a jerk, but almost all Fender guitars, or good ones, come with a free strap, so why not at least suggest, if you get a more expensive strap, with that annoying, feed the end in and out of loops, adjust the easy to adjust one for length first, then after buying a strap, like that, if you choose, which I don't, it is easier to match the length of it, in length, using the cheaper one, as a guide, but still get strap locks, buy a self locking strap, Planet Waves or Dimarzio Clip-Loc, plus you can buy extra ends cheap and just change the part around your neck. This is geared at beginners, like the video, so I am restraining obvious jokes, but MANY EXPERIENCED MUSICIANS/GUITARISTS do use straps, with no strap locks of any variety, that really is common and really stupid. This is a friendly hint at Fender to make some of these products, because D'Addario, Dimarzio, Planet Waves are endorsing your Artists, with their products, so why not make better straps, or locks. Food for thought, but because this is for beginners, regardless of the price of your guitar, please use good strap locks, or locking straps, as the ends shown on both straps will wear and your guitar will fall and I don't want that to happen to you. * The jokes and posts are funny, insightful, it is hard not to, but for real beginners, do lock your strap and FOR EXPERIENCED players I do see, not using strap locks on $2500-$4500...what are you thinking? Oh well! All the best, be safe and don't troll me, because I am just encouraging beginners to lock their strap to their guitar so it doesn't fall and try hard, not to be a jerk doing it! All the best and be safe!
