My biggest advice for the beginners of steel soul mode : if you find your self about to die especially against a boss exit from the game immediately and enter it again , you will spawn at the last bench

For all the people wondering what the hell is that statue like thing its jinn it replaces jiji in steel soul mode and instead of giving eggs for your shade you sell them for geo and to get to jinn or jiji you need a simple key and you need to head to the edge of dirtmouth and there will be a closed stone door and thats where you use the key to open the door
You'll notice that the Crystal Guardian is polite enough not to move away from you even if it means dying because you stink

You can also use the dream shield to kill him if you didn't have the defenders' crest at the time, but it takes a bit longer
